me watching monsters inc as a kid: how did it take so long for anyone to figure out that human child laughter not only produced energy like screams, but was more effective, and that children aren’t actually dangerous at all?

me watching monsters inc now: monsters incorporated, a multi-billion dollar corporate giant, stood to make extra profits off a scream shortage because low supply with high demand makes it possible to charge a fortune for a necessary commodity and everyone has no choice but to pay the high prices because they can’t go without electricity. Therefore Monsters Inc, as well as any other major powers that may have existed at the start of the era of using scream energy, fabricated the idea that only screams could generate sustainable energy sources in order to create artificial scarcity, because laugh energy was far easier to obtain and far more efficient, and therefore stood to lower the value of energy due to surplus. They also fabricated the idea that human children were toxic, in order to a) make other monsters too afraid to go near them to do research and possibly discover the secret of laugh energy, and b) to make monsters so afraid of going near them that there is a shortage of scarers, making it harder for rival companies to rise up and create competition. Even in the monster world, capitalism is based on lies, greed and cruelty, and even monster companies have no qualms about using and abusing children to maximize profits.

something I wonder: do gay girls ghost each other so often because of feelings of inadequacy? I find myself incredibly reluctant to date because I view most women as too good for my bullshit. I feel as if I tried to date one, I would be afflicting myself upon her. I feel as if I want to be a better person for the woman I marry one day, and I don’t know if I’m that person yet. So if a girl gets interested, I get nervous. I think to myself, “If she knew every facet about me, she’d know she deserves better,” so I don’t engage.

Part of me feels like this can’t just be an isolated feeling.

as more and more women relate to this sentiment I kind of want to point out what I said in my tags.

i think this mentality creates an issue where we distance ourselves from others in our community because we’ve created them to be unapproachable due to our own perceived inadequacies. We exalt them as people without problems and struggles of their own, often similar to ours, that they’re sorting through as well.

so I propose that 2018 is the year lesbians and sapphic women absolve themselves of this self hatred. 2018 is the year we learn patience with ourselves. 2018 is the year we look at our struggles and realize they are not isolated, but often shared by other women in our community that we can connect with and support each other through. 2018 is the year gay women learn that there is something in them worth loving; because as we look around and see women out there that we know we will love with our hearts and souls, they will do the same for us.

2018 is the year we learn to love ourselves just as much as we will love the women we want to spend the rest of our lives with.

This is my issue with people who are like “but she gave up important military secrets and put soldiers at risk!!”

And it’s like, that’s a really nice propaganda-y way to say she exposed the military committing crimes and cruel acts that should not be allowed, but that active members literally aren’t given the choice to say anything against, because “it compromises our safety everyoen″. That’s a really fucking convenient excuse imo.

Forty-two of the richest people in the world now hold as much wealth as 3.7 billion of the poorest people in the world, according to the report released Monday by the international charitable organization.

The report showed that about 82 percent of wealth created across the globe went to the top 1 percent. “Our broken economies reward wealth not hard work,” Oxfam International Executive Director Winnie Byanyima tweeted Monday. “Rich get richer, millions trapped in poverty wages or joblessness. Leaders must reverse this.”

read that. read it again, and again, and again. somebody, somewhere, always has it worse than you. there is one person on this planet that has it the worst of all, and that person is NOT the only person allowed to be unhappy with their lot. if things are bad for you, they are bad for you. period.

This goes for trauma as well. A lot of times survivors get trapped in a cycle of minimizing/diminishing their trauma because “other people have it worse” - but there is no hierarchy of trauma. There is no ranking system for which traumas are “better” or “worse.” Your trauma is valid. Period.

As a therapist, lemme just say: almost every trauma survivor I’ve ever had has at some point said “But I didn’t have it as bad as some people” and then talked about how other types of trauma are worse. Even my most-traumatized, most-abused, most psychologically-injured clients say this.

The ones who were cheated on, abandoned, and neglected say this. The ones who were in dangerous accidents/disasters say this. The ones who were horrifyingly sexually abused say this. The ones who were brutally beaten say this. The ones who were psychologically tortured for decades say this. What does that tell you? That one of the typical side-effects of trauma is to make you believe that you are unworthy of care.

Don’t buy into it, because it’s nonsense. It doesn’t matter if someone else had it “worse.” Every person who experiences a trauma deserves to get the attention and care they need to heal from it.
