While reading the pilot's script I noticed that specific artists were named as potential music options for Shauna to listen to, this ended up intriguing me and I decided to do a deep-ish dive! So, from the script we can tell that Shauna listens to Velocity Girl, Belly, and Liz Phair (specifically her songs 'Fuck and Run' in the script and then 'Supernova' in the final pilot). Along with being "angst-adjacent", these artists also exemplify the wave of indie pop/rock music made by women in the 90s.

I then decided to look at images of Shauna's room, and i was able to find two photos that featured musicians. on the left there's a bts photo where you can see two posters on either side of the window, one of which is Kurt Cobain (making Shauna a Nirvana fan) and the other is Blind Melon's self titled album. Both of these artists were apart of the grunge music scene, which prominently featured topics like social alienation and a desire for freedom (makes sense why Shauna would listen to them). After that I took a screenshot from the pilot where you can vaguely make out the images of Weezer's blue album and The Cranberries' "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?" record. both of these artists + Nirvana and Blind Melon are pretty standard for the general alt rock scene at the time (with the slightly nicher inclusion of Blind Melon).

As a little bonus the song that plays when Jackie and Shauna are getting ready for the party is "What If..." by Dore Soul. However, from what I can tell the song was released in 2020, so i wouldn't count it as canon (its grungy sound does fit in with what Shauna is shown to listen to though).
