Me: What's a wall builder?
Taylan: Yeah, everybody has walls so everyone's got wall builders. They're creatures who build and break down our barriers, our boundaries. A couple is two people but they have just one wall. A group of five close friends has a wall, too.
Me: Do babies have walls?
Taylan: I dunno.
Me: Babies don't have walls.
Then, at the moment I said those words, a bird shat on my hand.
delicate shades of feeling
āThe connection was bad so we practically had to shout, which was not very conductive to communicating delicate shades of feeling. It was like talking on a windswept hill through upturned collars.
. . .
āI lay back on the hotel bed, phone receiver hand, and looked at the ceiling. I could be lying on the ocean floor counting fish, I thought. How many would I have to count before I could say I was done?
. . .
āI didnāt get the picture, but then again, there are lots of things I don't know anything about. Age certainly hasn't conferred any smarts on me. Character maybe, but mediocrity is a constant, as one Russian writer put it. Russians have a way with aphorisms. They probably spend all winter thinking them up.
. . .
āI switched off the television, climbed into bed, and was asleep in ten seconds.ā
story telling time
Hi:
You are like a rain drop from the sky. Landing where you be, bringing joy and laughter. Ā May the warm breeze always be at your back. Out to sea you go. More places to see and explore. Lucky you to live a full life.
Keep good notes so you can share your journey with those who love you and those who would like to repeat a few of your foot prints.
Your message to Jean was so eloquent. What a great memory. Like talking leaves from the past. I warm to the heart reading your travels. Keep the book going though we know not the number of chapters.
Your Dad

Shakespeare was a chemist.
āAnd one reason why he says that Shakespeare can be confusing is often, Shakespeare behaved not so much as a writer but more like a chemist, combining elements. Heās taking words and heās shoving them together, smashing them together if you will.Ā
Look what he did just by adding a little prefix āun.ā Thereās so many words that weāre now familiar withāunnerved. Ā You know, we all know what that means but nobody had heard of unnerved, unaware, uncomfortable. ROBERT KRULWICH: He made up uncomfortable?JAMES SHAPIRO: He was the first to use that word⦠ROBERT KRULWICH: On a stage. JAMES SHAPIRO: Right.Ā
Unearthly, unhand, undress, uneducated, ungoverned, unmitigated, unwillingness unpublished, something thatās near and dear to my heart. Unsolicited, unswayed, unclogged, unappeased, unchanging, unreal. ROBERT KRULWICH: He made up unreal? JAMES SHAPIRO: He was the first to use it in print or on stage.Ā Heās taking words that ordinarily are not stuck together; things like mad cap, ladybird. Shoving them together, eye drops, to achieve a kind of atomic power. Ā Eyesore, eyeball.Ā Crack of doom. My favorite: Dead as a doornail.Ā
A dish fit for the gods. A dog will have his day. Fainthearted, fool's paradise, forever and a day, foregone conclusion, the game is afoot, the game is up. Greek to meet, Iām in a pickle, in my heart of hearts, in my mindās eye, kill with kindness. (Sigh.) Believe it or not, knock, knock, who's there?Ā Laugh yourself into stitches; love is blind, what the Dickens, allās well that ends well. And a sorry sight.ā
The English language at the time wasnāt enough for him. So he created, he invented, as needed to get the ideas out of his head and on to the stage or the paper.

Time really is one big continuous cloth, no? We habitually cut out pieces of time to fit us, so we tend to fool ourselves into thinking that time is our size, but it really goes on and on.
Murakami, A Wild Sheep Chase
they say an end can be a start ///Ā
if I ever feel better, remind me to spend some good time with you /// when itās all over iāll letcha know ///Ā
"You know, I never mean to shut you out. I don't understand what gets into me. I'm trying my damnedest to figure it out. I don't want to blow things out of proportion, but I don't want to pretend they're not there. It takes time."
"How much time?"
"Who knows? Maybe a year, maybe ten.
"Ten years? C'mon, isn't that like forever?"
"Maybe."
Caught in the most curiously depressing circumstances. For months I'd been stuck, unable to take one step in any new direction. The world kept moving on; I alone was at a standstill.
Haruki Murakami, A Wild Sheep Chase

minute 01:21 gets me : knee pop , leg kick ,Ā hip thrust , body twist ,Ā head whip you'll find a way.Ā make them all burn.
un-avoid you
God I miss you. Iām in pain. Heartbreak. I try to run from it but itās there, a dull ache. I must acknowledge it. Hello pain, how are you. How can I help you? How can I feel you? How can I explore you?Ā
How can I un-avoid you?
pain. heart/ache. heartsache . heart/break . heartsbreak / heart brake.
Itās something.
ItāsĀ something you hold in your hands and it can transport you to another world in three minutes.Ā
And then it came to me then. That we were wonderful traveling companions but in the end no more than lonely lumps of metal in their own separate orbits. From far off they look like beautiful shooting stars, but in reality they're nothing more than prisons, where each of us is locked up alone, going nowhere. When the orbits of these two satellites of ours happened to cross paths, we could be together. Maybe even open our hearts to each other. But that was only for the briefest moment. In the next instant we'd be in absolute solitude. Until we burned up and became nothing.
Haruki Murakami, writer, Sputnik Sweetheart
Stepping into the dark is another thing. If I do so I either look for a light or I stop searching. If you want to let me know, then tell me. Show me the light.
