Raimiverse trilogy gotta be the best Spider-Man adaptation ever. the colour grading. the soundtrack. the costume design. the interpersonal drama. the blatant horror influences. Peter Parker is a painfully relatable protagonist. Spider-Man's relationship with the people of New York characterises them not as "the people of New York" but as humans who love him. Spider-Man inspires hope and bravery in the homeless and children and people who take the subway. Spider-Man is a hero.

One of the craziest things about having tics to me is that other people’s tics can trigger them. Not in a bad way, it’s just an interesting observation. Both me and my dad have tics. One of my old coworkers had tics and so did my manager, along with one of my best friends having Tourette’s. If one of us starts it’s like a chain reaction. What’s with that !!

i wish there was more representation of people with tic disorders in media that aren’t coprolalia tourette’s. they put coprolalia in media because it’s shocking and loud and obvious, but it’s also very rare. and the fact that it’s pretty much the only representation we have for tourette’s and tics in media isn’t great.

i want more subtle tic representation. it’s great that coprolalia is getting attention because it Is important to bring awareness to. but i want to see representation that i can relate to. i want to see tics that aren’t so noticeable. i want to see people ask someone “are you cold? why are you shivering?” and have the person respond “oh i’m not cold i just have motor tics.”

i also want to see more subtle forms of tourette’s, because coprolalia isn’t the only way it can form. maybe someone asks “why do you keep clearing your throat?” and the other person responds “oh i have tourette’s.”

it doesn’t have to be a big thing. it doesn’t have to be a whole plot point. a person can just have tics and/or tourette’s without it being a huge deal.

like every other neurological disorder, tics are a spectrum! when you only show the most severe part of that spectrum in media, it dismisses the majority of the people on that spectrum. not everyone with tics has tourette’s (me) and not everyone with tourette’s has coprolalia (my little sister). coprolalia does exist, but it’s rare. i just want to be able to see someone with tics similar to mine in media sometimes.
