loth cats are a specific species on lothal and are distinct from tooka. life day is a wookiee holiday. karabast is a lasat swear. alderaanians celebrate name days over birth days. what food you have access to differs from planet to planet. technology differs depending on what section of the galaxy you live in. political views differ depending on what section of the galaxy you live in. what may be common knowledge for your favourite character is completely foreign to someone else.

i need to make sure everyone knows the difference between tics and ticks bc it irks me when people get it wrong

tics vs ticks:

tics: involuntary muscle movement. can sometimes develop into a chronic disorder with multiple different involuntary muscle movements that can last your whole life. not fun. (i have a tic disorder)

ticks: little bugs that bite you. can give you lyme disease.

Banksy has confirmed that a new statue erected in London is his work and I think it might be one of my favourite pieces by him.

Called "Blinded by the Flag" it... actually, you don't need me to explain it, it's art, you'll get it and interpret it yourself.

It's in Waterloo Place, Central London, if you're nearby.

the statue is fantastic but this quote from the article pisses me off:

“While we have taken initial steps to protect the statue, at this time it will remain accessible for the public to view and enjoy.”

they’re acting as if they’re merely “allowing” the public to see it. as if they specifically commissioned it. Banksy’s whole fucking thing is public protest art. it’s meant to be temporary, it’s meant to be public! the amount of his art that he has personally destroyed in order to avoid it becoming private property should maybe be a clue that hey! the public is meant to see it!!

all the rich see in Banksy’s art is a name. they don’t care about the appearance, nor the meaning behind it, nor do they care why Banksy put that art in that location. they just want a Banksy in their house. because it’s a Banksy.
