hamletâs âi did love you onceâ and opheliaâs âindeed, my lord, you did make me believe soâ is such an underrated gut punch. itâs betrayal itâs heartbreak itâs vulnerability itâs so over. truly no one is doing it like shakespeare
âso much of hamlet is love in the past tenseâ HELLO @xx-j4nu5-c4t5-xx

books read in 2026:Â hamlet by william shakespeare
What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and admirable; in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god: the beauty of the world, the paragon of animalsâand yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?
Ophelia (c. 1869) by Victor MĂźller (German, 1829 â 1871), oil on canvas, 210 cm (82.6 in) x 154 cm (60.6 in), Städelsches Kunstinstitut und Städtische Galerie, Frankfurt
another thing about setting hamlet at christmas is that it reflects the beautiful human experience of having a long holiday stay at your parentsâ house that makes you feel like you are going insane

beatrice from much ado would make such a good medieval damsel one meets on a quest. beautiful and lovely. quite witty. the only thing she asks of you is you immediately commit for her an act of extreme violence
Ah, the simple joys of maidenhood!
twelfth night is an insane play like oh I fell in love with this girl because I thought she was a guy and obviously I can't marry her so I'll marry her practically identical twin brother I've only just met instead. because I'm straight. I'm straight. It's because I'm straight
i think i identify so much with hamlet that i kind of forget what a horror show it is from laertesâ perspective. but like youâre this ambitious young man whose dad is kind of a bumbling idiot that everyone laughs at but at least people trust him in the court. or they did under the last king. you donât know exactly whatâs going on and whoâs safe and who isnât. youâre just trying to find your footing and now everyone is talking about a ghost wandering the grounds and itâs like. ok time to skip town for a bit and go to france!! obviously you feel a little bad about leaving your little sister behind and also youâre begging her please please please donât do anything dumb. i love you i know iâm overbearing i know dad is overbearing too but please just donât be stupid. ok? i know you have your stupid boyfriend but sometimes guys are mean so just donât do anything dumb. ok? ok? itâs your little sister. you have to say that. and you leave and go to france and the next thing you hear is that your dad is dead. you go back and youâre so mad that youâre ready to kill the king, you donât care what happens to you, you break in and threaten to kill him. but itâs not his fault and itâs his asshole nephew who had some kind of thing with your sister and you literally warned her about this and you told her not to be stupid and she PROMISED she would be careful and now sheâs sobbing and crying and not making any sense and everyoneâs saying sheâs crazy. she went to dadâs funeral without you. he was buried without you. you didnât come. then your sisterâs dead too. and no one wants to say suicide but what else would it have been and you were supposed to protect her and you went to stupid france even though you KNEW something was going to happen which was why you were so annoying about it. but maybe that made everything worse. youâre at her funeral and her ex boyfriend shows up and starts fighting you IN HER GRAVE and you decide youâre going to kill him. really. really. what else could you even think to do. your family is dead and itâs all his fault. and maybe if you stayed you could have saved them. and you have to kill him. you have to. because if you can pretend itâs all his fault maybe you can forget that you think itâs yours
