Summary= Soulmate Au: an Au where people donāt start seeing color until they meet their soulmate.
Yo, so @percysgf asked for her otp and I absolutely had to.
Ā Ā Color had always been an interesting concept for Erza. She has read about color and how others would describe it, but she just couldnāt picture it.
But one day, maybe soon, she would be able to see it.
Erza was turning 18, the time when people started seeing color. She couldnāt quite tell if she was excited or anxious, perhaps a mix of the two. All she knew was that it was going to be an entirely new experience.
On the day of her 18th birthday, Erza decided to go out and celebrate. She took a train all the way out to what The Sorcerer Weekly Magazine dubbed āThe Best Dessert Shop in All of Fioreā. So of course, Erza being the expert in cake making, tasting, etc. Had to see just what all the hub-bub was about.
As she reached the town with the popular dessert shop, she noticed the colors around here were bent just a tiny bit. It didnāt matter much to her at first, but as she got closer to the shop the more noticeable it was. As she entered the dessert shop, she scanned the crowded area, people packed in lines waiting for a taste of the heavily upheld desserts. The black and white she normally saw had seemed to almost bleed, weird pale colors almost fading into reality but not quite there.
As she was scanning the crowd, however when her eyes landed on a particular spot, color burst right in front of her eyes. It was as if someone had thrown paint at a blank canvas. Her breath caught in her throat as she searched for the cause of the color, but unsuccessful as there were too many people to take into consideration.
She sighed and stepped into line, she would look for the source of the color burst later, now all she wanted was a piece of strawberry cake to calm her down.
As she finally got her dessert (although going for one piece at first, settled with a whole 2 cakes instead) she sat down at a booth near where she had seen the color burst. As she looked on however, the color was drained and she could no longer find it. She didnāt give up however and decided to scan the entire area.
As her eyes combed through the crowd lazily, she noticed the color bleeding through more heavily near the bathrooms. There she decided was the source and she waited for the point of origin to walk out of the bathrooms.
As she continued eating (ultimately finishing off the 2 cakes) her eyes were trained on the bathroom. Once she finished both cakes, she noticed the color becoming more saturated. Her hawk-like eyes focused in almost right away as the bathroom doors opened and the color once more popped into reality. However she noticed something different, her right eye seemed to be separating the colors automatically, searching for the source without her even trying.
She focused on her right eye, and surprisingly she found the cause of the colors fairly easily.
However, that did not stop her breath from hitching as she looked at the attractive young man.
His hair was a royal blue, he had some sort of birthmark or tattoo under his right eye and she could only describe the rest of him as āperfectā, not truly finding the words to describe him.
He was on his phone, not looking up as he strode across the room. Erza, not wanting this opportunity to go to waste, got up and left after the man. She wasnāt going to follow him home or anything, it just so happened they were both going to the train station.
As Erza was walking behind the stranger, trying not to stare and just focus on getting to the train station. As she got ti the train station, she didnāt wait for the stranger ahead of her to choose where he was going, as Erza would most likely not be on the same train as him.
As she got a ticket to go back to Magnolia, she turned around to be face to face to the stranger. His face portrayed that of awe and surprise, her face heating up at the closeness between the two. She muttered a āsorryā and continued on her way, just trying to escape the embarrassing moment.
She waited only a few moments before the train for Magnolia showed up. She climbed onto the train and chose a secluded compartment all for herself.
However, to her dismay or delight she did not know, the stranger from before just so happened to chose the same compartment as she.
She tried to calm her erratic heartbeat, although only successful after a long minutes of awkward silence.
She stole glances at him when she didnāt think he was looking, and she swore she caught him giving her passing glances, but it could just be her own imagination.
After a little while, he sighed and said āDo you see it too?ā
The question stunned her into silence for about a minute before asking āPardon?ā
āTheā¦the-oh what do they call itā¦?ā¦Color!ā his answer surprised her but she only nodded.
āIsā¦is this what color is likeā¦?ā she managed to breathe out.
āI- I suppose so.ā he said.
Then she remembered what this was. What seeing color meant. She blushed a deep shade of red that the man could swear rivaled that of her own hair color.
āD-does that mean thatā¦weāre soulmatesā¦?ā the question hung in the air between them. After a few moments of silence the man across from her burst out laughing, after a few stunned moments she joined him, chuckling at first before going into full out guffaws.
After a few minutes of laughing they finally calmed down enough to look each other in the eyes.
āWell isnāt this awkward? I donāt even know your name and yet weāre meant to be together forever,ā the stranger soulmate chuckled a bit at the end.
āWell, I suppose Iāll just need to learn your name then. Iām Erza, Erza Scarlet.ā the man across from her held back a comment about her name and decided to save it for later.
Erza nodded at her newly acquainted destined
āWell Miss Erza, do you know your last name is befitting of you?ā her head quirked at his prompt, he only pointed to her hair spilling over her shoulder. She looked at the color and only now realized what he meant. Her hair was a beautiful deep red, or one might say scarlet. She snorted at his would-be pun.
āWell excuse me blueberry jello.ā Jellalās eyebrows furrowed at the nickname. She also, silently pointed to his hair.
As stated before his hair was a royal blue, and it took him a few moments to get the joke. āoh.ā she laughed his reaction.
āWell Erza, it seems that we truly are destined for each other.ā she chuckled at his comment.
The train stopped, successfully jerking them out of their own little world. āDo you live in Magnolia?āshe heard herself asking, biting her bottom lip nervously.
āYupā was his only response as he stood up. As he was about to leave he turned back to her,
āArenāt you coming with, soulmate?ā
Erza grinned at him and followed him off the train into the now colorful world, her black and white world seemingly like it hadnāt just been what sheād seen her whole life.
