im just saying. sure it sucked that merlin had to hold arthur in his arms as he died, but like. wouldnt it have sucked that much worse if merlin was too late? if he came to the battlefield and frantically searched for arthur, only to find his bloody corpse lying on the ground next to mordreds? to find both of their bodies still warm yet starting to cool, indicating to him that if he had only gotten there a few moments earlier he might have at least been able to say goodbye? yall may say that the finale was sad but cmon it couldve been a LOT worse

there’s something about how emotionally honest and open gwaine is with merlin which sticks with me. like gwaine should be the stereotypical always on the run boy who when they do form attachments get scared and pushes them away. but gwaine literally never does that. he just accepts merlin into his heart so easily and then keeps him there

the bait-and-switch of spending a good part of the episode thinking merlin will spell arthur’s weapon to defeat the griffin only to spell lancelot’s instead, his desperation in repeating the spell as lancelot gets closer and closer to danger & the closeup on lancelot’s face, in wonderment, as he realizes what just happened while merlin cheers in celebration… mercelot never loses, i fear
