People say things like "I've destroyed my sleep schedule." But I am one step ahead of those people, because having a sleep schedule is required before you can destroy your sleep schedule.

i'd describe my style of learning mathematics as "i never do any work and just let it absorb through my skin". which is a painful and slow process
re-reading a paper and related things makes it slowly, gradually, make more and more sense. when you're starting out in math, you're used to just learning one thing at a time, going from 0% understanding to 100% understanding over some relatively short period of time, and then moving on to the next thing. but it appears that in research you're going from 0% to 40-60% understanding of things, with like twenty things at once, and much more slowly
of course, that is how it practically goes for me. but indeed, i know that literally everyone else who isn't a dumbass just reads things and understands them 200% instantly, and that i'm an impostor and a fraud and shouldn't even be allowed withing ten meters of a math department due to my sheer stupidity measurably slowing research down by merely existing. this is a very true and productive way of thinking and keeps me motivated to do more math /s

Objects decay. Information decays. Let's periodically reiterate obvious concepts as a safety measure.
Humans are complex multicellular diploid organisms, differentiated into two sexes often called âspermâ and âeggs.â Human reproduction involves a multicellular diploid phase, while the haploid phase consists solely of gametes. The evolution of gametes into two extremes evolved independently across nearly all lineages of multicellular organisms.

Remember how livejournal kind of... you know... faded out and popular bloggers moved to other blogs? I kind of suspect that's currently happening with tumblr. I hate to be the bearer of the concept, but I suspect that X and Substack and github are more intellectually alive than tumblr. And it's not even close.
Wow. I didnât know that. Youâre telling me now for the first time. What can I say. She lived an amazing life.
