one time i was making potato soup and i needed broth for it but i was out of broth. but in my dog food cabinet there was a carton of chicken broth that i had bought for my dog. now the box did say HUMAN GRADE and the ingredients were just bog standard chicken broth. it did say something about joint health for dogs on there. but the ingredients were normal. i even compared the ingredients list to some normal person broth and they were the same. so i did put dog broth in that soup and it did taste completely normal. but i did use the dog broth.

your strengths are harder to see than your weaknesses because the problems you're good at solving don't appear as problems, because you're so good at handling them before they become problems... unlike the relatively rare problem that becomes a crisis, which demands undue attention. it's sort of like a reverse survivorship bias. the problems that become noticed as problems, the moments where you notice your capacity has a gap, are only the ones that aren't cut off at the pass by your strength and capability, before they become problems. so if all you focus on is problems then all you'll see is your weaknesses. which isn't accurate

This reminds me of one of my favorite moments from the 2020 protests. We had a smaller group marching together through downtown, around 50-100+ people, not the main column that had been together for most of the day. Night was falling, and people were feeling a little more daring, so the people around me were up for the trouble. I had seen two cops standing on the road in the direction we were all walking, so I go over to a few of the guys I knew were down, and said follow me, we go up on the sidewalk, breaking off from the group but still in a line, so we get behind them, and then suddenly, they're surrounded. The rest of the group saw us get behind them, and were pretty quick to complete the circle. The fear I saw in those cops when they realized they were surrounded brings joy to my heart even now. We were never going to do anything more, but to surround them and remind them they're outnumbered made me realize firsthand the power of the people. We kept up the circle for a few minutes, but eventually, backup came, and they were forming a circle around us, so we gave it up before we could get trapped. But man, just to know that strangers can rally together, that we can find openings, that we can beat them. That's the feeling I wish everyone could have, to see that these pigs are scared. If you stand up to them, you'll see the fear in their eyes. And you'll know that we will win.
