One way to get tasks done in the day is to make yourself a Chekhov's List. Put all of the things you have to do on a list, and now that they've been revealed they'll need to be completed by the afternoon (third act) and when you've completed something you can Chekov that task from the list
being a bitch actually saves you a lot of time
they’ll think you’re a bitch anyway for having some reasonable boundary so you might as well just be a bitch sometimes and save yourself the trouble, the time, the energy, the money, etc
whenever i look into a historical monarch who doesn’t get talked about much and is just kind of a blank spot in my understanding of the historical narrative, 95% of the time what i find is pure white hot blistering capability. a pencil pusher for the ages. a 39 year reign with no more than three hours of sleep a night. there aren’t any good stories from his reign because he systematically caught and stopped all catastrophic good stories before they could start. you shrimply must respect it
explained to an 8 year old that once a fruit is ripe you only have so much time until it rots so you have to eat it soon and she said so i'll never be able to keep it perfect like this forever? no and there are about a million pieces of art for you unrelatedly

George Sherwood Hunter (UK 1846-1919 )
Jubilee Procession in a Cornish Village 1897
trinity and the other pittlings remembering their first day interactions very differently:
trinity: “haha, why did none of you guys call me ‘Butterfingers’ after i dropped the scalpel in garcia’s foot? that’s comedy gold!”
mel: “i thought you didn’t like me.”
victoria: “i was actively avoiding you.”
dennis: “i don’t think i would’ve lived to tell the tale if i ever did that.”
i see why people enjoy young john carter so much - naive, eager to please, clumsy, wide eyed colt of a man, not to mention the early days benton/carter relationship is a goldmine, and the early seasons are low commitment and easy access - but i have a really soft spot for season 15 carter. i just love how he's still trying, even after life has beat him down for a decade, chronically disabled and clinically depressed and on the road to divorce. And then Peter Benton walks into his hospital room and they're peers now, friends still, and John's got a shadow of that spark back that he had at 25 and suddenly life isn't so bad anymore, even through the miles of trauma and loss

Cirroc Lofton delivered one of the best reactions in Star Trek history (from the episode Second Sight) - I just had to make it into a GIF as no-one else apparently has!
Random GIFs I made (Part 9)
The apple they fed to snow white wasnt poision at all it was just a red delicious
I literally said, "Are you kidding me?" IN THE GASPED ADMIRING WAY.
"Forgive me for being blunt, Dr. Robinavitch, but how old are you, huh? 50?" "Ish." "Ish. 50-ish year old man on a motorcycle– very sad." This was the funniest part of the episode. 10/10.
Genuinely evil and dark-sided to put the periods between the letters in "milf" and "dilf." Like what is M.I.L.F. that is a supervillain organization composed entirely of cougars. Whoa that's a great idea actually post canceled hold on

I think the most incredible thing about the guy who accidentally put his head in a particle accelerator is not the fact that it happened, or the fact that he survived, its the fact that after getting blasted with a wave of protons traveling at 99% the speed of light and seeing “the light of a thousand suns” he just quietly left the room, went about his day, and went home without telling anyone. Really just speedran the five stages of grief and arrived at the attitude of “welp, whatever happens next happens.”
I googled this thinking I’d missed something in the news but nope this happened in 1978
For anyone who hasn't seen them before, Hidden Search Operators are handy tricks you can use when you're either searching or filtering AO3.
summary: string is a generic way of explaining that you can search AO3 for a specific word that appears in a summary. You can do this from the search bar in the header, from the Any Field box at the top of the Advanced Search form, or from the Search Within Results box at the bottom of the filter menu.
Examples:
summary: Bruce
summary: "Bruce Banner"
summary: Bruce OR summary: Banner OR summary: Hulk
You need to put quotation marks around your search term if it is more than one word. The quotes make sure that the site searches for those two words together.
The other two operators listed work best in the Search Within Results box.
expected_number_of_chapters: 1 will return results where every fic has only 1 chapter currently posted.
You can use expected_number_of_chapters: -1 if you want results where every fic has more than 1 chapter currently posted.
otp:true will return results where there is only 1 relationship tag on the fic. If you want results where there are 2+ relationship tags (and no fics with only 1 relationship tag) then you can use otp:false
This page is so beautiful and honestly I hope it reaches and helps any new people that are just starting out on Ao3 because it's helping me and I’ve been using the site for 5+ years now
I saw your tags @jackdaw-sprite and I figured I could offer you some help? You've got a few options to find fics that are actually about your fave who is often sidelined.
My own personal go-to is to use the Search Within Results filter. You can find the filters by clicking/tapping on any tag. If you're on a wide screen like a laptop, they'll be on the right hand side of the screen. If you're on a narrow screen like a phone, you'll need to press the Filters button at the top of the page to open up the menu.
In that menu, scroll down until you're near the bottom. That's where you can find the box labelled Search Within Results. In that box, you can type
summary: Renhardt OR summary: Rendog
When you filter for that result, you'll get 19 fics with that name mentioned in the summary, and if the name is in the summary you've got MUCH higher chances of them being central to the fic.
There's also a way to find fics with a tag in the X position. Fan coders have had this same issue, and so they've created userscripts that you can add to your web browser (like an extension). Here are a few that might be helpful for you to try:
AO3 Actually Relevant Characters - Sorts and highlights works based on how relevant the tagged character seems in the work's tags and summary.
AO3: Prioritise my Faves - Hide work if chosen tags are late in sequence, or if blacklisted tags are early
AO3 Secondary Character & Pairing Filter - Replaces works with placeholder if the tags you want aren't the first few tags, with option to show work.
Editing to add: this version of the post has a syntax error in it. To remove oneshots with a filter, use
-expected_number_of_chapters: 1
