“The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?”

1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.

I think part of getting better is complete ego death. Like you’re not above setting a timer for 5 minutes and focusing on a task. You’re not above doing a very simple 3 minute workout to start. You’re not above reading for 10 minutes a day when you first get out of your reading slump, even if you used to read for hours. You’re not above starting slow and then building up to where you want to be/where you once were. What you are above is total inertia. Doing something really is better than doing nothing. Radically accept where you are, radically accept your limits, and go from there. Don’t let your ego get in the way.
you don’t realize how important lunch is until you’re wandering around thinking about how unloveable and untalented and uniquely cursed you are and then it’s 4pm and you finally eat lunch and you go Oh. oh right.
lot of people commenting on this post like "who eats lunch at 4pm that's a terrible time to eat lunch" yes. that is the point. 4pm lunch is inadvisable. 4pm lunch is not the ideal. 4pm lunch makes the mind demons real.
for those who don't watch game changer the context of this is that vic, as part of their attempt to do a challenge on this game show, decided to steal from sam's home, which resulted in them losing points
so basically what happened was they're on a game show and sam gave them a challenge and what vic did as part of their attempt to complete that challenge was they robbed sam's home, but instead of this getting them points they had a point deducted from their score because sam did not think vic robbing his home was good
On the one hand, part of me is like "well yeah, obviously he's not going to be happy about you robbing his house"
On the other hand, I've seen enough clips of Game Changer and seen the kind of psychological torture Sam inflicts on his contestants and can't help but think this was just kinda fair play?

I didn't draw him here but I enjoy transmasculine Harry as well!!! Transmasculine bears are awesome!!!
Perhaps it's a bit unusual for Kim to wait so long to get top surgery. But at the same time maybe he couldn't afford it and couldn't trust anyone enough to care for him in recovery. It's just that I can see him resigning himself to accept his current circumstances and delaying transition, as he does with other things :-( though he got hormones at an early age pre joining the RCM, when he was more hopeful.
I love seeing beautiful bearded trans Harry!!! And other times I would draw a Harry who is happy with their beard. But the shaving scene reads as trans for me so it makes me want to draw him without a beard at times.
A bit sad and messy but I feel like their discussions about gender would get complicated. Like Kim's canon reaction of not liking Harry being shaved would be one simple point of conflict. But worse, I could see Kim insisting that Harry stays in the closet because he still believes that remaining in the RCM is the most important thing Unfortunately. He is used to being discriminated against and wants to protect Harry from that, meanwhile Harry doesn't understand the gravity of the situation. Though, he should be more supportive of Harry's autonomy. Also, maybe he doesn't fully understand Harry's genderqueerness, and Harry doesn't know how to explain it either. This just makes it more confusing for Harry questioning themself since the one trans person in his life Also doesn't fully get it. On the other end, Harry would initially be very clueless about trans people and would make some insensitive comments to Kim :-( But they're going to have an awesome t4t relationship despite everything
I see inland empire as a useful skill in helping him get Harry's egg cracked. It just knows too much.. though it's a bit sad.
I want to depict queer joy and the euphoria that comes from gender affirming care!! But I know that this post is very upfront and a bit messy and also handles some of Harry's internalized homophobia, transition fears, etc. I hope the balance is okay.
