Wait I have more
My Rook would 100% try to conceal her elfiness in Minrathous so I tried to play around with the mirror and wardrobe to reflect that.
Camina de Riva in her natural habitat:
vs going full 'How do you do, Fellow Human Vints? I belong here':
Or a slightly more sensible alternative:
The last one is kinda serving ngl. And the first one doesn't even look that much out of place. I don't know which I like more - Rook tucking her ears under the silly hats and being grumpy the whole trip because of how uncomfortable it is, or the companions seeing their hardass assassin leader with a head full of curlers the night before, sharpening her knives and looking mean. The silly robes with metal snakes stay though, that's some Wigmaker Job Illario nonsense and I'm here for it.

Nice try Bioware, but I know the state of Southern Thedas better than you do.
First off, it matters if the Hero of Ferelden is alive or not. When the First Warden recalled all wardens, our hero knew that was a bad call and refused, finally splitting off from Weisshaupt after years of mismanagement and taking scores of wardens with them. Their presence and leadership makes all the difference, rallying southern Thedas once more against the blight. If you have only an Orlesian Warden Commander in Amaranthine they’re less inspiring, but as long as you’ve done Awakening they are a boon nonetheless. There is someone to lead the fight against the darkspawn while other focus on the Venatori.
If you 100% completed Awakenings and also Soldier’s Peak, the Ferelden wardens have never been so prepared. They’re organized, they’re outfitted and they’ve been ready for this for years. Also, if you allied with the Architect then you have scores of strange research to give you an edge.
If Merrill completed her Eluvian then she moves south once again and joins the effort. She’s managed to cleanse the blight before and she’s ready to try it again. And her knowledge of the crossroads gives the south an edge on their movement and supply lines. If Hawke’s sibling is a Warden they accompanied her.
If the Inquisitor let Briala have power in any way, the Dales become the leaders in the war against the Venatori, forming a formidable alliance with Ferelden, Orzammar and the Marches, the likes of which have never been seen. And if you completed Jaws of Hakkon then their alliances with the Avvar and Chasind are stronger than ever.
Of course, if the Inquisitor kept the Wardens around after Here Lies the Abyss then their numbers are bolstered. It may cost Wiesshaupt later, but that’s Rooks problem. And if you completed the Descent, then the Inquisitor and Warden had a much better idea of what was coming and spent ten years getting ready.
They will not be broken.
They will weather this storm.

Man, I'm enjoying parts of Veilguard in my own way, but it plays like pastel horror sometimes. Some of the revelations and plotlines have me frothing at the mouth on behalf of elves and my elf Rook just goes "¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it is what it is". Like, the leadership of the Shadow Dragons are the rich ruling class, with no significant elf/former slave presence that we see, and we just have to pretend that they're the unambiguous good guys? That Tevinter will be Good if these rich aristocrats get their way? There are some opportunities to express Feelings on one issue or another, but it just feels so toothless. In-game Rook can only just be like "yeah that sucks", while the Rook in my head would walking around with permanent 6 stacks of Radicalized for the majority of the game. And would be ready to throw hands with Neve at all times.
BTS Beesbury fits???? Girls we finally get to eat.
Look at how glorious these are!? The mustache is so majestic.

Okay, I don't even go to Bridgerton. I only watched season 3 and forgot most of it by now. Somehow I still know the rough outline of the plot in s4, including the Be My Mistress, and now I have a lot of thoughts and even some feelings.
I hope Bridgerton fans realize that the only decent way Benedict could have treated Sophie at this stage was if he didn't pursue her at all. They could have made them yearn and pine from a distance, "we mustn't!" and all that, but now the heartthrob in this feelgood romance will forever be just another aristocrat who made sexual advances on a servant in his employ. For a fluffy kind of romance, "rich fuckboy endangers a lower class woman but it's okay bc love" is where my enjoyment ends, personally. Wouldn't be the first time the male romantic lead put a woman in a compromising situation because he was thinking with his dick so the fact that he could ruin said woman's life didn't even cross his mind (or it did, and he didn't care). Only Daphne would still be rich even if her reputation was ruined. Sophie could end up in the streets with no hope of finding a "respectable" job. I know it's a bodice ripper, there needs to be drama and scandal, but things like this just take me out of the story immediately. Like, this man is a rich sex pest and I'm supposed to be rooting for him? You could still make it a compelling story, but I guess I don't trust the bridgerton writers to do this subject justice.
It is ignorant to think that the show has a well-rounded portrayal of russians. Most russian characters are sympathetic, the ones that aren't are so for personal reasons. They all collectively agree that the war doesn't exist - the audience is glad to forget about it either.
This creates a picture of russia, of moscow, as this foreign exotic place, where people speak a secret language and have strange traditions. It is almost romantic - or, scratch that, it is definitely shown as romantic. This image will enter our collective consciousness and stick there. nonthreatening. intriguing. forget the war crimes, forget the bigotry. listen to the cute accent, isn't it endearing? I love russia because it gave us ilya rozanov. I love how many nations they smothered to get there. I love mass graves. How do you say "I love you" in russian?
Nobody sane who watched the show with their eyes and brain would romanticize Russia. Being born in Russia and/or living there is not a crime, nor is speaking Russian is. The show and the character Ilya Rozanov do not make people blind. Russian people exist, and not all of them are evil.
Loving a Russian character, the language, or the culture, and supporting Ukraine can coexist.
Peace out ✌️
People are definitely doing that.
And on here, and in fanfiction - the fandom romanticizes the russian language, russian vodka, the mysterious russian soul. You have to be blind not to see it.
I am asking you to be aware that these things are not neutral. Because russia is not neutral, it is a threat to democracy and freedom everywhere.
if you think, truly, that nobody sane would be romanticising russia - then take it up with your fandom. We're just describing what happening. Sure, not all of the fandom - like not all russians, like not all men, not all white people. While that's true, it doesn't mean shit, while genocide is ongoing, while gender based violence is so prevalent, while racism is systemic. So yeah, maybe nobody sane would romanticise russia - but that means y'all are, in fact, insane, in a colloquial and not medical sense.
How exactly can this coexist with support for Ukraine?
Others have already shared their thoughts about the part concerning Russians — both fictional and real. What I want to ask about is Ukrainians.
Do you support Ukrainian-made shows, films, or series — or even projects that simply include Ukrainian characters — with the same enthusiasm as those connected to Russia?
If we’re talking about “giving everyone a voice,” why isn’t this done at least equally, especially when the context of an aggressor country and a country defending itself is being deliberately set aside?
In what concrete ways do you support Ukrainian culture to the same extent that you support Russian culture?
Supporting Ukraine in words while actively promoting positive cultural visibility for Russia and Russians — where they get yet another comfortable, apolitical image of themselves — doesn’t actually help us. Not culturally, and certainly not when it comes to the lives of our people and our children. Especially when our very existence becomes politicized the moment Ukrainians appear in media at all.
The fact that this fandom seems to have a problem with Ukrainians rather than with Russians who are comfortable enjoying this situation, while Western audiences are so quick to discard the topic of the invasion — speaks volumes.
And this doesn’t apply only to this show. It does, and will, apply to future ones as well.
The funniest thing I've done in bg3 has to be failing Gale's magic lesson... as a wizard.

I'm a few years late to the game, but Arabella's storyline makes my skin crawl. Withers showing her SOMETHING in her mind to let her know that her parents dying horribly was a good thing, actually, because look how badass you'll be now! And how she doesn't even sound like herself for a brief moment after that mindfuckery? Like, HELLO??? And her becoming Elminster's apprentice is supposed be a good thing??? Elminster, Mystra's favourite footstool biggest apologist?? Roughly at the same age as a certain wizard was when El took him under his wing?? How she's forced to go out in the world alone because this inscrutable undead said so and she's not even 10?? The only grown-up that is consistently in her life is this old as balls entity whose life's mission is to serve Mystra? I'm sure he has Arabella's best interests at heart and cares about her well-being. Surely he sees her as her own person and not just a powerful magical blank slate that can be easily molded into becoming an asset for his beloved goddes of magic.
