FILMS IN 2025: 02. Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998)
That scene where she carries him literally changed my brain đ¤Ł
- Forgive me, Your Highness, I did not see you. - Your aim would suggest otherwise.
EVER AFTER: A CINDERELLA STORY (1998) dir. Andy Tennant
donât abandon joy because it is brief. donât commit to solitude because happiness is fleeting. itâs okay that good things do not last forever. itâs okay to simply enjoy a thing for as long as you have it.
^ relevant art by @catcrumb that legitimately rewired my brain
This reminds me of my favourite Doctor Who quote:
Because every time you see them happy you remember how sad theyâre going to be. And it breaks your heart. Because whatâs the point in them being happy if theyâre going to be sad later? The answer is, of course, because they are going to be sad later.

I Love germans "Da ist hopfen und malz verloren" like man we cant even make beer out of that guy
Oh no, we can't even put him in the malt and hops soupđŤŁ
âIt just means you have to work double as hard as most people!â
Well maybe I donât WANT to work double as hard as abled people!! Maybe I deserve a BREAK!! Maybe Iâve been working MORE THAN double as hard for MY WHOLE LIFE and itâs led me to immense burnout & caused me to develop several MORE disabilities!! Maybe I should be ACCOMMODATED so I donât have to KILL MY BODY AND BRAIN over trying to do what abled people can do!! Maybe I DONâT have to work double as hard!! Maybe if thereâs the option to let me NOT work double as hard, I should have it, because Iâm already working double as hard JUST TO SURVIVE!!
Why do you think disabled people deserve less rest than mentally & physically abled people?
I'd like to add an experience your post reminded me of:
When I was in psychological rehab, we had two Nordic walking groups, one fast and a longer distance, the other shorter and slower. Knowing myself, I chose the slower group.
20min into the walk, I'm gasping for air, everything aches and I can't keep up, as well as a few others. Because the group got nearly separated, the fastest people stopped for a while and waited for us. When we had just caught up, seeing the others resting, they decided it's time to move on. We protested, but the physiotherapist who led the group just shrugged and said something along the lines of 'it would be boring for the fast walkers to wait even more'
I'm sorry that my need for a break bores you. I'm sorry that your inability to adjust your walking speed even the slightest bit while I'm desperately trying to keep up, adjusting my walking speed to yours all the way, leads to me being completely exhausted and needing a break. A break that you just had, and that you deny me now.
Actually I'm not sorry. This is ableism.
reblog this if you are gay, constantly tired, or a cryptic entity that merely inhabits a human form
definitely a cryptid. and, yeah, those other things too.
bro i LOVE indigenous fusion music i love it when indigenous people take traditional practices and language and apply them in new cool ways i love the slow decay and decolonisation of the modern music industry
I WILL !!! I WILL DO THAT
some of my favourite indigenous artists, in no particular order:
Inuit artists:
the jerry cans (esp their album Inuusiq)
beatrice deer
twin flames
MÄori artists:
jordyn with a why
Indigenous australian artists:
tilly tjala thomas (i particularly love ngai yurlku nhiina)
kardajala kirridarra (srlsly check out ngajabu (Grandmother's Song))
i've also heard good things abt Baker Boy, but i haven't checked out his stuff yet
Another one for Inuit artists is Piqsiq! Two sisters whoâve been doing traditional throat singing since they were kids. They make some really gorgeous, eerie, atmospheric stuff. Highly recommend watching this video of them performing live a cappella using a looping machine, because they might be the coolest people on the planet actually
(Jo March nearly in tears voice) women,,,,
For anyone into North Asian and Central Asian folk music, there's this incredible Siberian folk-pop band called Otyken! The group is mostly women and they're from multiple indigenous groups in Siberia, with songs being sung in their range of different languages. They're so much fun and their music videos are amazing!
i'll go ahead and recommend The Halluci Nation (formerly known as A Tribe Called Red), an EDM group from First Nations Ontario that do really cool fusions of First Nations music with dubstep, moombahton, and hip hop.
I really really really appreciate people who share videos on posts like these, because almost without a doubt every time I love the music but Iâve never got the spoons to click on links and look through a bunch of music or worse google the artist I always end up too overwhelmed to start and I hate that
Haven't seen Belle Sisoski here yet so here we go: she's the current Artist of Year for BURO impact Awards. She's from Malaysia and knows how to play an insane amount of ethnic instruments and mixes them with her own voice. She does covers and her own songs, mixes ethnic instruments with Techno and shows the process. And she's also a live DJ at 19!
And one of her own:
Oh and of course there's also the HU and Bloodywood for people who like more rock and metal mixed in:
1876 is a Pow Wow punk rock band from Portland, Oregon
Alien Weaponry is an awesome MÄori metal band
Darkaside is a Papuan metal band
Shepherds Reign is a Samoan metal band
Ts'msyen (pacific northwest coast) black metal
So I had a thought, and this might be the cold medicine, but I wonder whether my addled brain is on to something.
So. This is a bit about Good Omens, but actually about a lot of queer stories with cynical or outright unhappy endings.
I think people like NG(fuck him sideways with a stick) see happy endings as overdone, cliche, old fashioned, predictable. If you want to be subversive, edgy and cool, you need to have a tragic ending, or an ambivalent one, or a cynical one.
But the thing is, if you're writing a queer story, you're writing for an audience that rarely gets a happy ending. The queers rarely get to live happily ever after in a joyful world. That's why we so deeply appreciate stories that celebrate queer joy. Because it's so rare.
So these (mostly) heterosexual (mostly) men write queer stories for queer audiences and don't realise that for us, we expect the tragedy, the ambivalence, the cynicism. For us, if you want to be subversive, write that happy ending, that hopeful ending, that affirmative ending. We won't expect it. I promise. You can be an edgelord by subverting the queers have to suffer trope. We will all be impressed by your audacity. I promise.
Nothing is more edgy and subversive than queer joy. Try it out sometime.

what you learn from hobbies:
consistent practice opens up whole worlds of skill that you couldn't imagine
making mistakes in the process of learning is not only natural, it is also essential
activities that you enjoy can give you more energy back than you spent on them
wow everything is so expensive
my hands hurt
my back hurts
I thought I could count but apparently I can't.
My internal tension will bleed into whatever I'm crafting
if you're confused about all the pumpkins and ghosts and stuff, it's actually a sort of seasonal harvest festival in parts of the northern hemisphere. yeah, it's kinda weird to think about how it's autumn down there when up here it's spring, haha yeah imagine them all, upside down, and getting colder in october when it's just starting to warm up
and can you imagine, down there it's COLD at christmas, crazy right?
that's nonsense, why would it be cold at christmas, it doesn't even make sense? that's a festival about the birth of something??? obviously that happens in summer.
Excuse me?! What you guys doing calling the northern hemisphere "down there"?! We're north. That's UP on a map when it's oriented properly.
what the fuck are you talking about?
I know the choice to change Stratt from Dutch to German in the film was largely a result of casting Sandra HĂźller (who was perfect in the role, so like, I get it) but honestly the more I roll it around in my head the more the politics of it compel me.
Thinking about Stratt--who has such a unique blend of optimism and cynicism, willing to place Earth's hopes in an interstellar mission but approaching making it happen in such a ruthlessly pragmatic way--growing up as a kid in East Germany and living through die Wende and the collapse of the Eastern Bloc is just really politically fascinating. Partly because Stratt herself is so politically fascinating, but there's also something else there, something that speaks to growing up watching protests and upheaval on one side of the Iron Curtain, only to end up working for the extremely international European Space Agency as an adult (and then transition into leading the even more international Petrova Taskforce). In that context, movie!Stratt has seen both human conflict and human cooperation in spades, and I could see it hugely informing her perspective on the Hail Mary mission.
In any case. I'm still chewing on the implications of all this, but like I said, it does really compel me.
The Weeping Angels are really scary until you realize if any organism sees them they are fucked so they get hard countered by geckos, who don't blink and can see in the dark. If the Doctor strapped like two geckos onto him he'd be fine.
i love logical solutions to illogical whoniverse problems
thinking about eva stratt crafting a coffin for her friends. the very best coffin, full of every piece of pirated media the entire world has to offer. crafted for maximum comfort, this coffin, with every bit of authority available to her, which is all of it.
and then thinking about all the people who call her cold or uncaring or clinical about what she has to do to save earth. eva stratt, who had silly t-shirts and vodka and favorite meals stored in the Hail Mary and treated with the same level of importance as the finely tuned equipment and the centrifuge the entire planet relies on for salvation.
and then thinking about eva stratt nodding and saying, âyeah, Iâm pretty awful. thatâs why iâm in chargeâ with a neutral expression and even believing it. as if crafting the most beautiful coffin and homage to her soon-to-be dead friends wonât haunt her always.
thinking about eva stratt being the first person on the âeva stratt is a monsterâ train, welcoming ryland grace aboard and knowing she believed in him more than anyone else.
itâs fine, really itâs fine and normal and eva stratt makes beautiful coffins for the people and things she cares about.

Grace finds a phone tucked in a random maintenance hatch a couple years into the Erid trip and starts laughing so hard he's crying because the pictures and videos folder is full of Vat shenanigans.

Making exercises more accessible to the disabled? Fuck yeah!
Another accessibility thing: his flat doesn't look speckless clean and insta-worthy! There's plushies laying around, the blankets on the sofa are used and crumbled, it's a home, not a studio (or a very carefully prepared studio if he's committed enough), and I love that!
You don't have to have a perfectly clean home before you can do some sports. I know it sounds silly, but this helps me a lot because I often think 'I have to clean up *and* do sports and this and that, my energy is never going to be enough for that' but seeing that I could do simple, short exercises *in a messy home* somehow... is like someone allowing me to do exactly that? I don't know how else to put it.
So, yay for making exercises also accessible for perfectionists like me đ
