@mana-ramp-matoran It’s not “all about perspective.” No one can compare their pain to others, see that others have it worse, and suddenly their pain is gone. A broken leg is still gunna hurt. A car accident is still gunna hurt.
No one pain is less important to take care of or acknowledge than the other. The same goes with stress. Whether it is physically, mental and/or emotional stress, it is important to take all of it seriously and with the respect and care it deserves.
The fact that you are so quick to try and denounce her pain because you worked more physical jobs and have made a few youtube videos doesnt mean you suddenly know everything about pain and the youtube buisness. If you actually cared to read articles or listen to youtubers talking about what REALLY happens behind the scenes instead of what you and many others have glorified the job to be like you would understand how hard it truly is.
Shenpai and her friend superbutterbuns, another youtuber and twitch streamer, recently were talking about the youtube career on one of Shen’s stream. They talked about what happens when their videos get copyright striked or demonitized for more adult humor and they are unable to make revenue, despite the fact that they can work months on the project. The ad revenue they recieve does not come pouring in like many think, making it really difficult to make money souly off of youtube. That’s why both of them have to not only bump up the amount of videos they release to get the views for ads, but also go on twitch and, in Shen’s case, take commissions. With their jobs, there’s no way they can definitely say they will make money off of the things they do.
And, even if they genuinely love doing this, that doesn’t make it easy. Like Shen said, you can get burned out on something very quickly, especially when you have to constantly make content for hundreds of thousands of people who are, basically, your sole revenue who you have to please. The entertainment buisness is already a grueling place but most of the time you have multiple people to take on specific roles to make the job more manageable. Not every youtuber does. All the writing, editing, planning, filming acting (if there is any) and duty to entertain is all on them. There is no breaks in the creation process for them. It, at times, can be a 24/7 job, making “the comfort of your own home” feel like a prison. A job is a job no matter where it is.
I am subscribed to dozens of youtubers, some new, others long gone. Almost all of them had to take a break due to burnout. The mental and emotional, sometimes physical even, drain on them is so incredible in a horrifying way. People have had emotional breakdowns, physical illnesses due to stress, broken marriges and even contracting diseases because of their job. But they have to pump out content as soon as they feel even slightly better so they can keep working. Some even keep working through everything because it’s their job.
Just because you worked long jobs, just because you had jobs that underpaid you, just because they were more physical and just because you made a few videos, it doesn’t give you permission to explain away what Shenpai is feeling.
But, despite this and despite people like you, Shen still works hard and has a lot of passion for what she does. She is a human being and does not deserve to have her feelings brushed to the side like this.
