Imagine Leona Kingscholar, your boyfriend, overhearing an aggravating, childish conversation that involved his fellow dorm mates in Savannaclaw, having the misfortune to hear them whining and complaining about their lovers over trivial matters.
He swore he aged faster by the mere seconds it took for him to listen to their petty grievances.
The common room, where the event was unfolding, smelled of sun-baked sand, spilled energy drinks, and the faint musk of too many beastmen crammed into one space after evening training.
There were three Savannaclaw students comfortably lounging in the middle of the room.
Most of them were still in their PE uniforms or half-dressed in dorm jackets, boots kicked off, tails flicking lazily against the furniture, while their voices carried across the space, with no consideration to those who may feel victimized to hear their incessant chatter.
Even their own housewarden was secretly lurking in the corner, with his emerald eyes intently eyeing the scene with a mixture of disgust and disbelief.
A hyena-type beastman student groaned, his crimson hair falling into his eyes until he brushed it away in frustration. "God, you don't know the headache I got from my girlfriend," he said, rolling his eyes dramatically.
Then his voice pitched into a higher octave as he continued, mocking the way she had nagged him, his eyes rolling back into his head for added effect. "You should've updated me, you should've done this, you should've done that~"
The energy drink wrapped around his hand crinkled as he threw it into the nearby trash can, adding to the growing pile of garbage. He crossed his arms with an annoyed huff. "Fucking hell, am I her personal assistant? Like I give a damn about her every little request."
Another laughed, a silver-haired wolf beastman, his head thrown back in unkind amusement. "No shit, even mine is on my ass 24/7. Yesterday, she blew up my phone because I liked another girl's post. 'Why did you like her post? Do you think she’s prettier than me?'" He pitched his voice into a whiny falsetto, flapping his hand like a puppet.
Then he scoffed. "Bitch, it was just a gym mirror selfie. I wasn't even thinking about it. Now I have to deal with her sulking for three days straight like a goddamn toddler."
The hyena-type snorted, kicking his legs up onto the low table and nearly knocking over an empty bottle. "Women, man. They act like we're supposed to live inside their heads."
A third student, a broad-shouldered lion beastman with a messy dark mane tied back loosely, leaned forward from where he was sprawled across the couch.
His tail thumped against the cushions in irritation. "You two are lucky. At least yours just nag and get jealous. Mine keeps wanting to 'talk about our feelings' every single night."
He made air quotes with his fingers, face twisting in disgust. "Like, bro, I just got back from training; I'm half-dead, and she hits me with, 'Do you feel like we're really connecting lately?' What the hell am I supposed to say to that? 'Yeah, babe, I feel tired and hungry; now leave me alone.'"
He groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "She even sent me some long-ass paragraph yesterday about how I don’t open up enough. Open up?" followed by a disbelieving laugh. "I'm not a damn diary. I just want to eat, sleep, and maybe get laid without it turning into a therapy session."
The wolf barked out another laugh, slapping his knee. "Exactly! They want us to be all sensitive and shit, but the second we actually say what’s on our mind, they lose it. Can't fucking win."
"Preach," the hyena agreed, cracking open another energy drink with a sharp hiss, raising the beverage in a mock toast. Then he chugged it down in one go, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "Wish they could've just stayed quiet and stood pretty. Would've saved us the trouble."
Oh, that popped a vein on Leona's neck.
The shadow in the far corner of the common room shifted.
Leona stepped out slowly, emerald eyes glowing with pure irritation, his tail lashing once behind him like a whip. The temperature in the room seemed to drop as the three students froze mid-laugh upon noticing his sudden presence.
His presence alone sucked the casual energy out of the air.
"Repeat that shit again."
The hyena-type beastman jolted upright so fast his energy drink nearly slipped from his fingers. His ears pinned back, crimson hair falling messily over his suddenly wide eyes. "L-Leona-senpai—!"
Leona took another step forward, his voice low and dangerous. "I said… repeat that shit again."
The hyena’s mouth opened and closed uselessly. His usual swagger evaporated under Leona’s glare; his tail tucked between his legs as he shrank back into the couch.
The silver-haired wolf and the lion beastman looked equally pinned in place, suddenly very interested in the floor.
Leona’s lip curled in disgust. "What’s wrong? You had so much to say a second ago. Running your mouth like cowards when you think no one's listening. Typical. The second someone actually calls you out, you tuck your tail like scared kittens."
He clicked his tongue, crossing his arms as he glared down at the three of them. "You sorry-ass excuses for Savannaclaw students. Whining and bitching about your girlfriends like they’re burdens instead of the only ones stupid enough to put up with your lazy, ungrateful asses. You should be kissing the ground they walk on that they still have the energy and effort to deal with you every damn day. Most of you don’t even deserve that."
Leona’s gaze sharpened. "In case your pea-sized brains didn't catch on, beastmen don’t disrespect their mates. If you can’t value the person who chose to stand by you, then you don’t deserve a mate for life. You can stay single and rot for all I care."
The three students sat in heavy silence for a long beat before the hyena finally mumbled, "Sorry, Leona-senpai…"
"Yeah… we were just talking shit," the wolf added quietly.
The lion beastman nodded. "Won't happen again."
Leona scoffed, waving a dismissive hand. "Save your pathetic apologies. I don’t give a damn about your words. Prove it by actually acting like better partners. Now get the hell out of my sight before I make you run laps until you puke."
The three scrambled up without another word, grabbing their things and hurrying toward the hallway, tails low.
Leona stood motionless, arms still crossed tightly over his chest as he watched the three Savannaclaw students practically flee the common room. Their hurried footsteps echoed down the hallway until they disappeared completely, leaving behind only the faint scent of nervous sweat and the mess they’d made.
He let out a long, heavy sigh, dragging a hand through his dark mane in irritation. "Tch… First time in years I actually lost my cool over something so damn stupid," he muttered under his breath, emerald eyes narrowing at the empty doorway.
The vein on his neck was still faintly throbbing. He couldn’t remember the last time some petty conversation had crawled under his skin like that.
But deep down, he knew exactly why.
Because he had you.
You, who still chose to stay by his side even when he was at his moodiest and indifferent to almost everything around him. You, who still poured energy and effort into loving him without expecting him to become someone softer or more expressive. You never nagged him with trivial complaints. You never made him feel like a burden or a project to fix.
In return, Leona made sure your love was never wasted. After all, you were worth it.
He made time for you even when he claimed he wanted to nap the day away. He listened when you spoke, really listened, even if he answered with a lazy drawl and half-lidded eyes, he never fails to protect your secrets and vulnerabilities, so that you can freely be comfortable with him without any worries. He protected you fiercely, without needing to announce it. He pushed you when you needed pushing and gave you space when you didn't.
And though he’d sooner die than admit it aloud, he treasured every ounce of effort you gave him.
Leona’s tail flicked once, slower this time, as the tension in his shoulders finally eased.
To be honest, he respected you for that more than he loved you for it. And reflecting back to the sharp words he had said to those students, fortunately, the irony wasn't lost on him.

𐔌 . ⋮ LEONA KINGSCHOLAR .ᐟ ֹ ₊ ꒱
the heat was brutal, for you anyways. leona was used to the heat, growing up in sunset savanna―you weren't shocked when he seemed completely unbothered.
the breeze felt warm, the concrete was so hot you could boil an egg on it, and your clothes were sticky and thick against your skin.
leona noticed your change in body language immediately, dragging your feet behind him, visible sweat rolling down your forehead.
"oi," he called out for you. all you were doing was crossing the campus from the botanical garden back to the school, but you kept falling behind.
"you're dragging your feet so loud, i can hear it from here." He frowned but no bite behind his words, nudging the shade just a few steps away from you both. "sit down before you drop dead."
you take a deep breath, your head feeling lightheaded you shake it. "no, it's okay―i'm."
that was your mistake.
because the next thing you knew your entire world turned sideways violently, your knees buckled and your body went limp.
you barely registered the sharp gasp from your boyfriend until you felt big arms wrap around your torso, holding you just above the ground you could have smacked against.
"sevens, what did i tell ya?!" leona growled, voice sharp as he held you all the way to the shade. you were out cold, but you were breathing. that's all that mattered.
leona sits back against the tree and lays you on his lap, brushing your hair back and rubbing the bridge of his nose. he lets himself calm down until you wake up.
when your eyes do flutter open, you're met with emerald green eyes staring back down at you. the cool breeze of the shade greeting you as you felt leona's hand firm against the back of your neck and his other holding a cold water bottle against your cheek.
before you could ask, letting out a soft groan, leona spoke.
"called ruggie, you had a heatstroke, idiot."
he's not upset with you, but he had warned you. you weren't accustomed to the heat like he or ruggie are―now here you are, baking in the sun.
you end up staying in leona's grasp, sipping on some of the water and leaning into his chest to rest. ruggie came by once more with food from the cafeteria, about to crack a joke about you paying him he back―but when leona glares at the underclassmen the boy ran.
"next time," leona sighs after a few moments of silence. "be more prepared, yah? can't be babysitting you like this all the time."
you hummed softly, kissing his cheek gently you thank him for taking care of you, and despite his harsh kiss of his teeth―his tail wagging behind him said everything.
𐔌 . ⋮ AZUL ASHENGROTTO .ᐟ ֹ ₊ ꒱
it happened completely out of the blue, once second you were fine and walking beside him through the busting market district, and the next you were wobbling down the small enclosure and bumped into him.
"my dear, whats wrong-?" azul asked before a sharp gasps escapes his lips when he sees you topple forward, in no way trying to catch yourself either. when he arms grab you, he lets out a strangled noise hat sounds far to frightening.
he calls out a few times, but when you don't respond he panics looking for a safe space to take you away.
since when was your body this hot, your sweating like a dog in heat.
thankfully, jade and floyd weren't too far away, immediately at azul and yours side to help escort you away. jade giving people polite smiles as azul and floyd take you somewhere secluded.
within minutes, azul had you settled on his lap with a cold, wet cloth handed by jade to dap your face gently. staring down at your unconscious body, azul felt his heart beat out of his chest.
how could he not have noticed the signs, your lack of response, but most importantly, your body language. he feels like a fool, like this is his fault. but it was just an unfortunate accident.
when you finally let out soft groans, squirming in his lap azul is quick to hush you softly and brush your hair back with the cloth, leaning close to see your eyes flutter open.
"oh, thank the sevens you are alright." azul lets out a happy sigh, meanwhile floyd peeks out from behind your head and snickers. "you scared the glasses off of him, ehehe! it was kinda funny seeing azul panic like that~"
he's cut off guard by jade pinching his ear and pulling his twin brother away to let you and azul have a few moments.
you claimed your head still hurts and your body is too tired, azul understands and tells you to relax and sip on some water. "lay down, you may fall asleep on me if you need to, just..." he lets out a shaky breath, "i was...worried about you. please, i cant take another heart attack like that, my dear~"
he leans his forehead against yours and you chuckle softly, "special treatment without having to sign a contract? ... you're spoiling me, azul~"
the mage nearly combusts from embarrassment.
"i can easily propose one for you, is that what you'd prefer, my dear?"
you've never been more quiet after that.
𐔌 . ⋮ RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS .ᐟ ֹ ₊ ꒱
he's noticed long before you even fainted, he keeps an eye on you already―he was bound to spot the early signs. your responses became slower, your blinking was more forced and your body was tilting in your seat at the unbirthday party table.
despite the shade of the rose bushes and decorations, you couldn't escape the heat of the hot sun boiling you alive.
sitting beside you, as he partner, he glanced back at you every once in a while. when you speak to ace or deuce, they don't seem to noticed as you tried to hide it, claim your fine.
riddle knows you're not fine.
"my rose, if you were unwell you could have simply stayed indoors," riddle speaks clearly, not annoyed but clearly worried. "you've been acting off putting since the unbirthday party began."
"i'm okay, riddle~" you mummered weakly, clearing fighting back whatever your feeling.
"you are clearly not okay, why must you lie about something like this?"
you tried to wave him off when another student came up to you and asked for your help to take the teacups to the other tables.
with a weak, fake smile―you agreed. which was a very bad mistake. before riddle could retort, scolding you for not taking care of yourself, the second you stood from your seat you felt the world tilt.
your legs gave out before you could register, your head spinning and pounding as to fell forward.
"prefect!?"
riddle shouts, teacups shattered as your body hits the grass and riddle quickly turns you by the arm and turned you over. you were out cold, and riddle was starting to panic as he called your name over and over.
he lets trey and cater take over the unbirthday party, immediately escorting your unconscious body to the nurse.
when you regained consciousness, riddle was the only in the room. sitting at the side of the bed in the infirmary, the room was dim light enough to not give you a headache and to see riddle.
"what were you thinking?"
you hesitate, leaning against the pillows you tried to hide your face. riddle exhales, long and stressed, but he takes your hand anyways.
that makes you stare up at the housewarden, who holds your hands to his forehead while he speaks again, "you were so pale, overheated...why couldn't you just have listened to me?!"
his voice cracks, but he doesn't cry. he's just scared.
at one point, you tried to sit up to console him, but riddle keeps you down gently. "don't you think about moving, you are resting."
as he brushes the hair from you face, riddle stays at your side until he knows your okay. he makes you sip water, eat some scones to regain energy.
but most importantly he makes sure to keep a closer eye on you when you start to feel like this again.
My Ray of Sunshine------Kalim Al-Asim x Fem! Reader (Birthday Fic)
Happy Birthday, Kalim! Let's celebrate our dear sunshine boy, the Dorm Leader of Scarabia, with a beautifully made fic to celebrate his special day! Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: THIS POST IS UNFINISHED! NO REBLOGGING BEFORE IT'S DONE! LIKES ARE OKAY! THANK YOU!!!
"Mmm~ This is amazing!" Kalim gushed as he took a bite out of the blue soda-flavored jelly packed with grapefruit pieces soaked in syrup. "The sweetness is just right, and I feel like I could eat as many of these as I want." He took a second bite and closed his eyes in bliss.
(Y/N) giggled as you watched Kalim smile with his mouth full. After Kalim swallowed, then then looked at you, his garnet-colored eyes sparkling. He then took a spoonful of the blue soda jelly with a piece of grapefruit on top and held it out to you. "Here, try some! Say, "ahh"," he said, holding the spoon out towards you.
(Y/N) blushed at the gesture. "Oh, Kalim-senpai..." You trailed off as you looked at Trey, who was eating his own dessert at a table next to yours. He looked up and saw Kalim holding out a spoonful of the soda jelly towards you. He smirked as he understood what Kalim was doing. (Y/N) grew even more embarrassed as you averted your eyes from Kalim. "Y-Y-You really don't have to do this, Kalim-senpai. It's okay, I can go get my own jelly..."
"But this is my birthday jelly. It's special, and I want to share it with you, (Y/N). So come on, at least have a bite," Kalim pleased, giving you his best puppy-eyed look. Jeez, that Kalim... (Y/N) thought affectionately. With his lively, energetic demeanor and his sunny-sweet disposition, it's really hard to say no to him.
(Y/N) let out a chuckle as you nodded. "Okay," you said as you opened your mouth and took the soda jelly from Kalim's spoon. The flavor of the sweet soda jelly mixed with the soda-flavored syrup and grapefruit piece exploded in your mouth. "Mmmm! So good!" you gushed.
"You like it?" Kalim asked joyfully. (Y/N) nodded.

What if discovering Kalim’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
Summer was well settled, no doubts. The sun was shining in a sky empty of clouds as the temperature rose abruptly. Everyone on campus had found shelter inside the school’s building or in their dorms. Though, you couldn’t say the same. Today’s was your boyfriend’s birthday so you were on your way towards Scarabia. You were preparing yourself to face the atrocious warmth of the desert that was Kalim’s dorm as you walked towards the Hall of Mirrors. Though, luckily for you, he found you before you had to pass through the mirror.
“HEY!” Yelled a voice coming from a distance.
You turned around to see your boyfriend sprinting towards you with his usual huge grin and sparkling eyes. Given how fast he was arriving, you could tell he was beyond excited to go into town.
“Hi, Kalim.” You greeted the boy as he stopped in front of you.
“Hello! I can’t wait to show you the place I chose! It’s a really fun place. I’m so excited for today!” He exclaimed as he clasped his hand around yours and led you towards the campus gate.
“I wonder what’ll it be…” You pondered as you walked beside him.
“I’m sure you’ll like it… No. You’ll love it! Let’s go!” He yelled as the two of you left Night Raven College grounds.
Luckily for Kalim, he had you or else he would have straight up led you towards his chosen place. On your way to town, you reminded him that it would be nice to go choose an outfit for him. It wasn’t every day that a renowned tailor would offer his selection to students. Even if it was just for their birthdays, it always seemed like a fun experience to live. And since the boy always looked for something exciting to do, it was something the two of you couldn’t pass up for anything!
“Whoa!” Exclaimed Kalim as he entered the tailor’s fitting room. “It’s incredible to be able to choose from pre-made clothes! I can’t wait to compose an outfit!”
“What do you mean by pre-made clothes?” You inquired, getting the boy’s attention on you.
“Back at home, we would always have a tailor who would come and take my measurements. Then, some days later, beautiful clothes would arrive at home ready to be worn!” Explained your boyfriend.
“You couldn’t choose the design or the colors used for your own clothes?” You asked, your eyebrows furrowing.
“Not really… The tailor always chooses but not once did it not suit me. He’s really incredible!” Exclaimed once more the boy.
“That explains why you’re so excited to pick your own clothes for today, then.”
“Exactly!” He yelled as he began excitedly to look at all the different racks in the room.
You decided to let him have his fun as you looked at him, running from rack to rack with his usual energy, with a fond smile. If days like these could allow him to experience the life of a normal boy, then you would let him explore everything in a heartbeat.
“Okay! I’ve chosen my outfit!” Kalim’s voice brought you back to reality as you looked at the clothes he was proudly holding in his hands.
“A bright red shirt covered in sequins with a shiny gold jacket paired with blue shorts and shoes covered in jewels… That’s…” You turned in your head different sentences in hope of finding one that wouldn’t crush your boyfriend’s spirits. “That’s… original?”
“Isn’t it?!” He exclaimed as he flashed you his biggest grin.
“Though, I’m sure we can find an outfit that would suit you even better!” You attempted, hoping that a challenge would get him to leave his outfit which… didn’t go that well together.
“Oh? You think so? I wonder what it could look like…” He pondered, already deep in thoughts.
“Bingo!” You cheered in your head. Then, you cleared your throat to get Kalim’s attention. “The short looks nice. I’m sure that paired with a blue jacket…” You left the sentence hang in the air as your eyes scanned the different jackets. Until they landed on the perfect one. “Like this one!” You exclaimed as you took it in your hands.
“Wow, that’s a beautiful color you found there! It looks like the color of the sky when there’s no clouds in sight. You’re very talented! Thank you for choosing this for me!” Exclaimed your boyfriend in return, as he took the piece of clothing from your hands.
“Now… the jacket feels a little plain.” You stated as you looked at it. “We should add…”
“Some decorations.”
“Some decorations!” You both said at the same time, bursting out laughing in the process.
“I’m glad we’re on the same page! Leave this to me!” Exclaimed Kalim as he sprinted towards the changing room.
A few moments later, the sound of the curtain could be heard. Your head turned towards the source of the sound and you were met with the boy in a blue and white outfit with a huge grin on his face.
“How is it? It suits me really well, don’t you think?” He asked.
“It looks wonderful on you, Kalim.” You responded with a smile. “Though, it seems like you and your tie had a fight and that the tie won it.” You said as you looked at the mess of knots that was his tie.
“Is it that obvious?” He asked sheepishly. “The truth is… I don’t really know how to tie it…”
“Come here, I’ll show you how.” You said softly.
“You’re the best! I’m happy you were here to help me out!”
The two of you passed some more time at the tailor as you taught your boyfriend the art of tying. After some (many) fails and demonstrations, he finally managed to tie it on his own. He was beyond happy when he landed it, thanking you again and again and telling you he’ll show his new skills to Jamil and how he’ll be proud of him. Noticing that quite some time had passed, the two of you decided to head out to town to the place Kalim absolutely wanted to show you.
“Our destination is…” Began your boyfriend as he looked at the different streets in front of him. “This way! Follow me!” He exclaimed as he extended his hand to yours, which you gladly accepted.
As you walked hand in hand, Kalim suddenly pointed towards the town’s plaza and grinned at you. “You know, the last time I went to town with Jamil and the other dorm members, there were musicians there. They were playing super catchy music and I couldn’t help but join in the fun!”
“What did you do? You played an instrument?” You asked, loving to see him this happy sharing his stories.
“No, I could have but I really wanted to dance. So, I began to dance to their music and you know what?”
“What happened?” You inquired with a smile.
“More and more people came by to watch! Some of them even swaying to the rhythm! It was so fun! I think we all had a great time!” He explained as his eyes sparkled.
“That’s fantastic, Kalim. I’m glad you had fun.”
“I did for sure. Though, next time, I want you to be with us. I would really like to dance with you and enjoy the moment!” He exclaimed with a smile.
“I… I would love that.” You responded, feeling shy all of a sudden from his declaration.
“Oh! Time flies when you share wonderful stories. We’re here!” He exclaimed as he let go of your hand to go stand in front of the building, his hands on his hips. “The movie theather!”
“The movie theater?” You asked, your head tilted to the side. “Is there a movie you want to watch?”
“As much as watching a movie together sounds fun and we should really do that sometime! What I want to show you isn’t a movie, it’s this!” He said mysteriously as he stepped to the side, letting a capsule toy machine come into view.
“A capsule toy machine!” You exclaimed. “That takes me back.”
“Heh? You already know what it is?” Asked Kalim, perplexed.
“It was common to see some at the entrance of grocery stores.” You explained.
“Oh, I see. Well, I didn’t know what they were until I went to town last time and… They’re amazing!” He said, grinning from ear to ear.
“Isn’t it? Some collections are really awesome.”
“It’s just way too exciting! You never know which one you pulled until you open the capsule. That’s what makes them so much fun!”
“I agree. Though, sometimes it’s frustrating because you want one in particular but you can’t seem to get it.” You pouted.
“That’s exactly why I’m here today.” He said, looking determined as ever.
“Really? Which figure are you trying to get?” You asked, peering at the displays on the machines.
“I’m trying to complete this Scalding Sands collection.” He explained, pointing to you said machine. “It’s my favorite! And I’m just missing one figure!”
“Oh no! That’s the worst case scenario! Which one is avoiding you?” You asked, getting as determined as him.
“This one. The two-dumped camel.” He said, looking very serious. “Last time, I used all my coins but didn’t get it. This time, I came prepared.”
Kalim put on top of the machine a huge bag full of shiny coins (enough to make Ruggie faint) and declared. “I’ll have the complete set.”
His goal now clear, the two of you took your places in front of the machine and began to try your luck.
…
“Oh no! Another genie lamp!” You both exclaimed as the capsule opened.
…
“Just how many magic carpet are there in this machine?” Kalim asked.
…
“That makes us ten duplicates of that little monkey. Can we even call them duplicates anymore?” You wondered.
…
“It’s…” You both yelled. “It’s the camel!”
You high-fived each other and cheered. “I finally have the complete collection!”
“Congratulations, Kalim! It only took us like… 40 pulls.” You breathed out. “Wow, that’s a lot.”
“I AM SO HAPPY! I’LL PUT IT ON DISPLAY IN MY ROOM!” He exclaimed in happiness and excitement.
“Well, that was fun.” Breathed out Kalim, once the two of you exited the movie theater, figures all over your arms.
“It was and we got the camel.” You responded.
“We got the camel, finally! Oh, by the way.”
“Yes?” You asked, trying to see his face between two figures.
“Since you helped me get the entire collection, you can choose as many duplicates as you want!” He exclaimed.
“Really? Thank you, Kalim.” You said with a smile.
“As long as you’re happy, then I’m happy too.” He responded with a smile of his own. “We should go to that bakery. I heard they made a special dessert just for me. We can’t miss this!”
“We definitely can’t.” You answered, your curiosity peaked.
“Great! Then, let’s go!” He exclaimed, walking with determination. Until he stopped and looked at you. “… Do you remember how to go there?” He asked, scratching his head sheepishly.
As soon as Kalim’s eyes met the bakery’s display window, he ran up to it, his eyes shining like jewels. You caught up to him, nodding to every pastry and dessert he was showing to you with energy. Curiosity getting the two of you, you couldn’t wait any longer and pushed the door of the establishment to discover your boyfriend’s special dessert.
“Everything looks so delicious here! Is it like this in every bakery?” Asked your boyfriend. “This is my first time here.”
“Usually, yes. Everything looks so good that you have to stop yourself from buying everything.” You explained.
“I understand why! Every fruit sparkles like jewels! Oh, I can’t wait to taste my dessert.”
“I think that’s the one on the table over there.” You said, pointing said table to him.
“You’re right. Let’s go try it out!” He exclaimed, dragging you by the arm.
You didn’t even have time to sit down that Kalim had already put a spoonful of jelly inside his mouth.
“It’s even better than it looks!” He breathed out in delight. “Here, have some. It’s my birthday after all and I want everyone to have fun!”
“Happy birthday, Kalim.” You said with a smile.
“Thank you! I had a wonderful birthday! Oh, wait!” He abruptly stopped himself.
“What is it?”
“You can’t have dessert without a good tea! I’ll go make some. Wait here!” He exclaimed, already gone from sight.
“Please never change, Kalim.” You muttered to yourself with a fond smile.

"y'know," he says with a smile that's a little softer than usual, "i think this might've been my favorite part." when you ask what he means, he just laughs and nudges your shoulder. "best birthday ever." he mumbles happily. and somehow, despite the extravagant party, the mountains of gifts, and all the celebrations, you get the feeling he means it.
Apparently it’s been months since I’ve drawn Vil, so I had to fix that! Here I wanted to play with the apple and instead of the Evil Queen offering it to Snow White, we have Vil’s Overblot offering it to him, wanting him to give in to his jealousy and inferiority.
I left the background quite plain to not take away from the focus of the piece. I’m really happy with how the Overblot hand and apple turned out, shading them was fun! Hope you all enjoy and look forward to maybe a Silver and Sebek piece next. 🤪
Mama Mia (Here I go again) (Chapter 1: Does your mother know)
Word Count: 5.1k
Warnings: Unplanned Pregnancy (not explicit)
Summary: With an unplanned pregnancy affecting her ability to return home, Yuu decides to stay in Twisted Wonderland to raise her child. The problem however, was that she was unsure who the father of her child was. It could be the second prince of the Sunset Savannah, Leona Kingscholar. Or perhaps the actor and model, Vil Schoenheit. Or even the prince of Briar Valley, Malleus Draconia. Whichever the case, Yuu decides to take on the responsibility alone- and raise her daughter Yume, without the father knowing.
None of this would come to light though until her daughters 10th birthday party...
Notes:
Im supposed to be working on Eternal Youth rn- but lowkey got writers block and just wanted to write something fun/comical and light with no stress/worries. Not writing this to be my most amazing piece of liturature- but to just have fun. Enjoy!
“Are you certain of this? Everything you have worked towards- your goal since you’ve came to this land, has been to return home. And now, we are so close- nearly at the finish line.” Crowley said. His voice sounded like he pitied her- and even through he was commiserating with her new set of circumstances, it did little to make her feel better.
Because the truth was; she wasnt sure of her decision. Every single day, she teetered on the edge of wondering if she was doing what she felt was right or if she was making a mistake. More often than not, in the back of her head, she was close to changing her mind. Just him asking her that, reminding her of her home- the life she had left behind- made a lump form in her throat- words unsaid that were urging to leave her mouth. She breathed in deeply- calming her nerves as she composed herself, swallowing down the lump. It would do no good to doubt everything now that it was all said and done. She couldnt change what has happened.
So- she decided to hear out what her options were now. It was all she could do… “And… if I do decide I want to go home? What then?” She pursed her lips- thinking about adding more onto her question- clarifying her worry- but it was unneeded as Crowley gave her a small, but sad smile.
“Well… your child will be part of this world. It will have no place in your past life.” Crowley replied. “In short; it will be impossible for the child to accompany you back to your world- if you choose to return still.”
She knew this- knew this would be his response, had expected it- and yet still; she had held out hope. Hope that she would be wrong… but it was foolish for her to think that she could take one last reminiscence of this world. A world she had come to love just as deeply as the one she had came from. How long had it been since she had come here? 6 years? Almost 7? After she had graduated from Night Raven College, she had stopped keeping track.
And then… she had made a mistake- Well, really, three mistakes. In hindsight, who would have ever predicted this is what would happen? Her mother, certainly- who had warned her against having unprotected sex. And now, she would deal with the consequence- for she knew, even if her mind went back and forth, she could never abandon her child here.
“I… I cant then.” Yuu said with finality, the last of her doubt and hope leaving her mind. It was as if letting go of it all- and now, being able to mourn her old life- that she was able to have much more clarity. She could breath, she could truly now live and accept the world around her as hers now- because it wouldnt just be her world, but her childs home. She looked to Crowley, at peace with it. “Thank you… for atleast trying… I suppose now, all I can do is make the best life I can for myself and my child.” she looked down at her stomach- which concealed her fate, and would only grow over the next couple of months.
The next question in her mind was where she would even go. She had resided on Sage’s island ever since she had been brought to this world- knowing no other home. But it wasnt like she could raise a child on a school campus.
There was a pause of silence before Criowley asked: “And what of the father? Would I be overcrossing a boundary to ask weather the child's father is present?”
That was a difficult question- where would she even start with that. “No…” She replied. “The father will not be involved.” It wouldnt be fair- especially when she didnt even know who the father was. But she wouldnt admit that- especially not to Crowley! She had not even told Grim the truth… He didnt need to know anything other than that she wouldnt be returning home because she was pregnant. That was it.
“Well, luckily for you- My generosity know’s no bounds! And because of all of the assistance and dedication you’ve offered the school over the years you have been here, I will grant another gift.” Yuu frowned- confused on what he was referring to. She knew she had stopped a multitude of disasters over the past couple of years she had been here- especially in her first year when she had stopped seven overblots- but what gift could he give her that would make a difference?
She decided to take the bait. “Oh yeah? And what is that?”
“Well, the school owns a couple of buildings within town- some of which we rent out. Now- I know you do not have the funds currently to rent, however perhaps we could come up with another compromise?” A compromise…? “There is currently a storefront for a cafe, which closed down around a decade ago and hasnt reopened since. Well… its been popular demand that it be brought back- however, I was never able to find someone to manage the store… until now. How would you like to run the cafe?” Yuu was speechless- her mouth opening and closing as she tried to figure out what to say. “I would grant you funds for food and necessities ofcourse- and there is an apartment above the storefront that you can board in… I ask that you just consider it.”
There wasnt much to consider through. It was the best option she had heard in a long time; she would live in a familiar place, relatively safe- she would be able to have a job, a place to live, a stead source of income… it was all she could ask for really. So- she didnt need time to consider it- she knew what her answer was. “I accept.”
────•⋅⊰༻ 9 years later ༺⊱⋅•────
“Yume- you’re gonna be late!” Yuu called upstairs- receiving no reply back.
In a month, it will have been 10 years since her daughter had been born. 10 years of living on Sage’s Island and running the coffee shop for Crowley. 10 years of ups and lows- and coming to grieve, mourn and unteather herself from her old world. It had been easier than she imagined when Yuu not only had herself but her daughter and Grim to think of now. “Grim-” Yuu’s companion poked his head up from the blanket where he rested on one of the many booths in the coffee shop area downstairs. He blinked grogily and let out a yawm- as she pointed up. “Please go get Yume- she is going to be late for school if she isnt down in the next two minutes.”
“Yume! You’re gonna be late!” Grim repeated, yelling upstairs as well, and Yuu put her hands on her hips with a look of irritation.
“Thanks Grim- I could have done tha-” But then there was the sound of small footsteps on the stairs, the sound of a child running down the stairs.
“Im coming!” A high pitched voice called out, and sure enough, in entered her daughter- dressed with her backpack on her back. She had dressed herself, and though she was a little younger than 10 years old, she looked neatly put together. “Im ready to go.”
“Good! Say goodbye to Grim and lets go-” Yuu said as she rushed towards the door. Yume took her time though as she approached their companion.
“Bye Grim!” Yume reached down and gave a big hug to Grim- who accepted it graciously and patted her back the best he could with his paws.
“Bye kid- go and learn something.” He gave another yawn, stretching his back in a similar manner to a cats after Yume let him go.
“I will!” She chirped and ran towards Yuu, running out the door. Yuu pointed at Grim, expectantly.
“Im taking her to school. When I get back, you better be awake and the machines better be running. We open in less than an hour and they need atleast 30 minutes to get hot and going.” She reminded him, but he squashed her worries as he leaped down and walked towards the kitchen.
“Im going, im going.” He grumbled. Yuu smiled, closing the door behind her. She knew he didnt like to wake up early, and yet, without fail for the last few years, he has woken up early to help her set up the shop- even if with a few complaints every now and again. Yuu walked up ahead, finally catching up to Yume, who’s short legs had made it such a far distance without her. Once she finally caught up, Yume held out her hand to Yuu, to hold her hand as they walked- which Yuu took.
“Mama-” Yume started, and Yuu let out a hum that she was listening as they walked the quiet streets. It was early enough in the morning that there was hardly anyone else out and about- especially students from the nearby schools- but not so early that there was no sun. The only people who occupied the streets were the locals and other store owners who were setting up before opening. “My birthday is coming up!”
“Yes it is dear.” Yuu replied. A dog crossed their path, with its owner following behind with a leash. They halted before continuing their walk.
“I know what I want for my birthday…” Yume’s voice drifted off- unsure of herself. Yuu looked down to her daughter, now intrigued.
“And what would that be?”
“I want to know who my father is. I want him to come to this birthday…” Yume asked, and Yuu stopped in her tracks- startled. She knew this would come one day, the day her daughter grew up and would understand the difference between her peers having a two parent household, compared to her own household of just Yuu and Grim. Maybe when she was 5, that was enough, but now… and Yuu could not fault her for it either.
“Well, that is…” she didnt even know where to start, or how to respond. “Your father… loves you very much- but wont be able to come.” Yuu lied- because she couldnt admit just yet that her father- whoever he was- did not know she existed. But Yume wouldnt just leave it at that- she pressed the issue, her own curiosity now outgrowing the answers that Yuu had always supplied her daughter with. That her father was ‘a busy person’, or that ‘he would meet her one day’. But it was no longer good enough.
“But why not? Why cant he come? And dont say its because he is busy- how can he be so busy he cant make time for me?” Yuu pursed her lips. She could see how distraught her daughter was about this- and so, this time, she decided to tell her something equivalent to a truth.
Yuu stopped, pulling her daughter off to the side of the sidewalk, as she crouched down to look her in her eyes. Eyes that looked exactly like her own. Perhaps if Yume even had a hint of her father’s features in her, Yuu would have been able to determine who he was, but fate would have it that she looked like a replica of her mother. “He is a very, very important person Yume. Many people look to him, depend on him, and… well, we need him a little less than other’s do.” It wasnt a lie- it was the truth no matter who she thought of. “Besides, dont be too bummed. Uncle Ace and Deuce are making a special trip to come and celebrate with us!” She could see the disappointment still evident on her child’s face- so she rubbed her shoulders up and down to soothe her. “Im sorry- Is that okay?”
Yume was quiet for a short while, before breathing out and nodding. “Its okay, Mama.” She said. “I understand…”
────•⋅⊰༻♥༺⊱⋅•────
However, there is the thing about children: though they might say one thing, they dont mean it. And with Yume- even though she had told her mother she understood- she did not. In her mind, what could be more important that a birthday? Especially her 10th birthday. There was nothing more important than that- and so, she decided that if her mother would not treat this with the urgency is required, then she would.
At first, she was faced with the biggest problem; who was her father? Her mother had never given her a name, a homeland, anything that hinted at who he was exactly to narrow down the search. So, Yume turned to the next best thing after the internet- her mothers private journals. It was brilliant really- and if her mother wouldnt be angry at her for snooping through her belongings, she might have been proud of Yume for being so smart.
Yume opened a box with dust that had gathered on it that had been sitting in the storage room for as long as she could remember. It was a box of belongings that her mother had stored away years ago- things from her years at Night Raven College. On top of the box, in black marker, was a list of things that were tucked away; uniforms, old books, and journals. Journals that possibly contained all the answers to her neverending list of questions that had accumulated since she was 5.
There were only three journals really- not a lot- and there was little written in each of them. The first was written like a fantasy book- perhaps a story her mother had written when she was younger. A story about someone being tossed into a world where they did not belong, and defeating magic that corrupted a persons being- things of fiction. It was then in the next journal, after her mother had graduated from school that Yume found something more tangible in terms of answers; she found names. She recognized some of the names; her uncle Deuce and Ace, her uncles Epel, Jack and Sebek… and then there were some names she didnt recognize. Three names in particular that came up multiple times.
The first was Vil Schoenheit- a name that was very familiar to Yume. He was in some of her favorite movies- and appeared on Television more times than she could count. If he was her father, it would make sense what her mother had said about him being an important person- and Vil Schoenheit most certainly was a very big and important person.
The next was Leona Kingscholar. She did not recognize him, and so she did what everyone did; she looked up his name. There, she found he was the second prince of the sunset savannah. She gasped, giggling excitedly at the idea. That would also make him an ideal candidate- another important person who would hypothetically be too busy to make it to her birthday party. And if he was her father- that could make her a princess! Another loud giggle, as she clutched her tablet-
“Hey, whats all the laughter about?” Grim asked, causing Yume to let out a yelp and cover her tablet and the journal with a nearby pillow.
“Nothing!” She answered quickly. ‘Im just… watching a funny video!”
Grim looked at her, suspicious of her answer, before shrugging and walking into the kitchen. After she could hear his footsteps become further and further, she let out a sigh of relief. She grabbed the journal from underneath the pillow once more and opened it, continuing to read until she found the last name.
Malleus or ‘Hornton’- No last name, and when she looked up the first two names, nothing for Malleus or ‘Hornton’ was found. The closest thing she could find was that the name Malleus came from Briar Valley- an area with little known about it, and therefore, her search was limited. But even so… it was a start.
At the end of the journal, after some passages of her mothers experience at being pregnant with Yume- was three letters. They were unsealed, dusty as well with some of the ink being faded- but still legible. Yume opened each letter, reading the contents. All three contained the same exact message- just with the names swapped out between Vil, Leona and Malleus’s. Each being confessions- the confession that Yume existed.
Suddenly, Yume didnt feel too good. These letters… it made it seem like her dad didnt know she existed… and maybe thats why he never came to anything, never visited, was not around… because the truth was that he didnt know she was alive.
Well- no longer would that be the case! He needed to know, whoever which one of them he was. She sprang up, running to her room and taking out all of her art supplies. She grabbed three empty invitation cards, and started working. Each one, she decorated with a careful hand- placing stickers and drawing with her markers animals and party balloons. On each one, she wrote a message-
“You are invited to Yume’s 10th birthday party! Please come, I would love to meet you. Love, Yume.” She spoke outloud as she wrote. She shoved her creations into the already written envelopes- and sealed them closed with tape. The addresses that were written on them were from 10 years ago- so hopefully they would receive it. And when all three were finished and closed, she looked at them with a huge grin. “There! Now he will have to come and meet me!” She said victoruously.
She ran downstairs, putting on her shoes as Grim sat nearby, loafed on the couch. “Where you off to kid?”
“To the postbox- I have a few letters to deliver-” She said, however left out who they were for.
“Okay- sounds good. Just be careful..” And Grim laid his head back down. He had grown to love home life with Yume and Yuu- especially on their days off of work or when it wasnt busy in the cafe.
“I will be.” She assured him and ran out the door quickly. A couple of streets down and she made it to the postbox, slipping the letters in. Now, there was no turning back. But Yume was ecstatic as she skipped back to her home- thinking about herself in a princess dress and not having to attend school anymore because she would be too important as well…
────•⋅⊰༻♥༺⊱⋅•────
“Happy Birthday Yume!” Yuu exclaimed as her daughter walked downstairs, and she engulfed the girl into a huge hug, placing kisses on her forehead and anywhere else on her face she could. “Awww, my baby is 10 years old- you are getting too old!”
“Mama-” Yume giggled, pushing her mom off of her, but failing. “Come on- youre heavy!”
Yuu laughed, letting up off her daughter and backing up. “Well, thats not very nice- especially since Im the one who got you a surprise… One I think you’ll really enjoy-” Yume perked up at that- as she remembered what she had done.
“I also have a surprise for you!” She said, bouncing up and towards the kitchen as she followed Yuu.
“For me? But its your birthday Yume- you didnt need to get me anything…” Her mother replied, and Yume shook her head.
“Its a surprise for the both of us- but I think its one you’ll really like.” The girl said, as she watched her mother start to get out some of the decorations. “Here, let me help!”
Yuu smiled, looking down as she handed Yume some deflated balloons. “Do you think you can blow some of these up and hang them on the fence?”
“You can count on me!” The girl took the balloon pack and ran outside without her shoes on. Yuu thought to call out and correct her, but instead, just scoffed and gave a small grin as she shook her head. Sure she might get dirt and mud on her, but it could all be washed away- it was all temporary, but making sure her birthday was an enjoyable one was her priority.
It wasnt until later on in the day that Yuu was fussing over her daughters appearance- after the decorations were set up, and almost all of the food was finished, Yuu started getting herself and Yume dressed. Her daughter had picked out a pretty turquoise dress, and had been the one to decide what her hair style would be- and Yuu, well, all she could do was obey her daughters request.
Just as they were wrapping up getting ready, there was a knock on the door, and Yume got up. “I got it!” Yuu watched as her daughter opened the front door, jumping up and down. “Uncle Ace! Uncle Juice!” In the doorway were her old classmates and friends. The past ten years had significantly changed the both of them, as they had gotten taller and their boyish features had filled out into more sturdy looking ones- stronger jawlines, and both were much more sure of their own magical abilities.
In both of their arms were boxes- presents with colorful paper and beautiful ribbons- wrapped so nicely that she doubted that the both of them had decorated them as so. “Hey kid- Happy Birthday!!!” Ace said, and Yume jumped to hug both him and Deuce. “You’ve grown a lot- how long has it been since we last seen you- a couple months now?”
“Its Uncle Deuce-” Deuce said exasperatedly. When Yume was two and still learning words and who people were- Ace had made a one off joke and referred to Deuce as ‘Uncle Juice’- and ever since then, it had stuck. Yume now knew his name was Deuce- but still lovingly referred to him as Uncle Juice occasionally. “And, I believe its been nine months since we last seen each other-”
“Almost a year now?!” Yuu asked. “It felt like its only been two or three months- not nine- wow… we are getting old…” Yuu laughed- and Ace and Deuce joined in.
“Not that old- but we certainly are aging… And you too Yume, youre 10 now!” Deuce said.
Yume nodded her head. “Yup- Im getting older too!” She said. “Oh! Uncle Ace, Uncle Deuce- I helped decorate!”
Ace looked around and nodded- “Yeah I can tell- I like what you did with the place-”
“The decorations are outside, idiot.” Deuce side eyed Ace- and the red head looked shocked.
“Y-Yeah I knew that! I was just complimenting Yuu and Yume’s interior decoration skills as well!” Yume laughed, and Yuu beamed at the sight. Seeing all of her loved ones here, and ready to havea good time made her feel like everything that had happened had been worth it.
“Thank you, Ace. Now, how about we all go outside to admire Yume’s decoration skills and start this party?” Yuu asked- and they all agreed.
────•⋅⊰༻♥༺⊱⋅•────
It was about an hour later- when the party truly started- that the food was brought out. Ace had some things on the grill after insisting he could barbeque the best out of the three of them, however was slowly regretting it as smoke rose from the grill.
“Is it supposed to be smoking that much?” Deuce asked- though he knew the answer to that- it probably shouldnt be.
“Yeah! Yeah- thats what gives the meat all the flavor- dont you know?” Ace asked- poking at one of the steaks that were grilling. Yume rubbed her eyes and shook her head.
“The smoke is hurting my eyes Uncle Ace-” She whinned- and he quickly closed the grill.
“Well- lets just close that and let it cook then, huh?” He asked hypothetically, as he decided to just leave the meat to cook. As he did so, Yuu came back out with a bowl that had lettuce and other ingredients in one hand, and another bowl in the other that was already prepared.
“Here-” She set down the premade bowl. “Here is the macaroni salad I made last night. And- I still need to put the salad together-” She set down the second bowl filled with the uncut lettuce head and other things. “Aaannnddd- I have your surprise inside! Let me go get it.” And Yuu went back inside.
Ace looked to Deuce and Yume- “Suprise? Dont we do presents after cake?” He asked, and Deuce and Yume nodded.
“Yeah- but this isnt a present- its a surprise.” Deuce stated- and it didnt help with Ace’s confusion. It wasnt until Yuu came outside with a giant cake box in her hands that it clicked into place for Ace and Deuce.
“Well… my surprise for you was that I got you an ice cream cake- Your favorite!” She opened the box. “We cant eat it until later- but I couldnt wait to show you it- and look! It has your favorite animal on it- a bunny!” Yuu pointed. Sure enough, there was rabbits drawn in gray frosting on the borders of the cake, that was lined with purple frosting.
“Oh wow! I love ice cream cake and bunnies- im so excited!!!” Yume looked- standing on her tiptoes to see the cake better. Before she could say anything esle though, there was a knock at the front door- a knock that was unexpected. Yuu looked around, confused. Everyone who was invited was there already- could it be Crowley? He had never popped in unannounced before- not without telling her atleast. “Who could that be?” She muttered under her breath and sat the cake down gently on the table. She wiped her hands on her pants, and got ready to go get the door before she was stopped.
“I-I’ll go get it!” Yume shot up, raising her hand as she volunteered.
Yuu raised an eyebrow, now suspicious. “Did you invite someone?” She asked her daughter, as she sprinted from her chair to the porch back door to head back inside.
“You could say that… Its your surprise!” She exclaimed, and without waiting, ran inside. Before opening the front door, she breathed in a deep breath, preparing herself. This was something she had been waiting for for years now- all culminating to this one moment. This would change her life forever- and so, she unlocked the front door and opened it.
Standing in front of her were three individuals. The three she had been expecting… “You came! You all came! I wasnt sure if you would get my letter, but im so happy-” She gasped- stars practically in her eyes as she looked up to all three of them.
They all looked down at her- as if they could not believe she existed as well- like she was an alien or something odd but interesting nonetheless. “Your letter? So, your the one who wrote out this invitation and sent it to us?” One of the men’s ears twitched as he held up her the invitation she had written out, as well as the letter with her mothers handwriting behind it.
“Yeah! I invited you- but the letter is from my mom.” She explained.
“You are Yume then? Correct?” The tall man with black hair asked. He was the tallest of the three of them- black hair with green on the tips. He wore a black coat with a royal purple waist tie- it was a fancy outfit, but hardly fit the occasion. His ears were pointed- a trait she had seen on only a few people- mainly, a few students from the nearby schools. He must be fae- she concluded. Yume nodded exuberantly at his question- excited he had remembered her name.
“Thats right! I’m Yume-” She extended her hand out as much as she could- but with all of them being rather taller than her, they had to bend down in order to properly grasp her hand and shake it. “Its nice to meet all of you.”
“Where is Yu-” The brown haired man stopped and hesitated, before clearing his throat. “Your mother?” She looked at his appearance- His hair wasnt exactly combed, but it wasnt messy either- with braids throughout. He wore a leather jacket with a lose shirt underneath that was a golden color. Beaded jewlery decorated his neck in bright colors- she recognized it and her eyes brightened.
“You must be Leona Kingscholar- Second Prince of the Sunset Savvanah.” She replied, not answering his question. She then turned to the tall, blonde man that was combed back. He was impeccably dressed- a silk shirt, black pants, gold braclets and necklaces- a true super star. He even seemed to sparkle like he did in all his movies- it was almost blinding. “And you- you are Vil Schoenheit! You were in ‘Moonlight Horizons- one of my favorite movies!”
“You have immaculate taste then.” Vil smiled and folded his arms over one another. “But I also must wonder- where is your mother?” Vil pulled from his inner pocket her invitation as well that didnt have even a fold- kept perfectly flat. “And does she know about this?”
Yume looked at the invitation, and gave a sheepish grin. “Yeah- she knows about the letter- she’s the one who wrote it after all.” She replied. She left out though that her mother had written that letter more than a decade ago- and that she had not sent it, but Yume had. “Yeah, she knows. Please- come in! She’s in the backyard and would love to see you.”
They looked to one another, as if they were only then questioning if they were going to listen and follow a child into her house. However, it seemed their curiosity won out, as they followed her, through her apartment and into the backyard just as she said.
Yuu’s back was turned, as she prepared a salad for the table before the party started. She was just placing the ingredients into the bowl before she was interrupted.
“Umm- Yuu?” Ace turned to his friend nervously. She looked up from the task at hand.
“Yeah? What is it?” When she did look up finally, she saw the terrified and perplexed faces of not only Ace, but Deuce and Grim as well- as they pointed towards the apartment door. She spun and looked- and immediately wished she had not.
In front of her stood three figures from her past that she had not seen in a decade- all following behind her daughter- or rather… the daughter she had had with one of them. They all looked to her, expectantly- and looking almost as they had all those years ago.
Malleus was the first to speak; “Child of man, it is good to see you.”
“Long time no see, Herbivore.” Leona nodded- though he looked less pleased.
And Vil- he held onto a letter- her letter that she had written, and held it up to her, waving it. “Potato- we have much to discuss.”

The look on Azul's face embodied the word fear. His chest felt tight. His eyes couldnt focus. His face was burning up slowly, a deep blush running down his neck as a drop of sweat clung to his cheek. He looked like he wanted the bath to swallow him up right now. To drown—if that was even possible in this form. It wasnt. But still, somehow the idea seemed better than having his girlfriend staring right at him.
While Azul hypervenalated in the large tub you just stood in awe in the doorway. You tried not to be rude. You really did…but you couldnt help the fact that your gaze was running all over his body. All over his tentacles. Your jaw almost hit the floor, the sight of your beloved boyfriend in his mer form again nearly making you suffocate. He was drop dead gorgeous.
The sound of Floyd snickering behind you made your face tinge pink. You were staring.
You should stop staring.
It was rude to stare!
It was rude to want to drink up every inch of your boyfriend's looks right now.
Rude to want to feel the urge to go kiss him silly and shower him in compliments.
But you couldn't help it, your entire body frozen in its place, completely shut down. You barely heard the voice calling your name until you felt a careful hand cradle you chin. You blinked, confusion written all over your face as you turned to see Jade smiling at you. He closed your jaw for you gently, you face turning crimson at the realization.
“I think shrimpy likes what she sees~ ” Floyd teased from behind you, trying to contain his laughter at the fact your jaw pretty much hit the floor when you saw Azul. Jade chuckled along softly, stepping back as you covered your mouth in embarrassment, the interaction only doubling Azul's torment.
“I'd say so,” Jade hummed, grinning wide while he shifted his gaze to Azul who was still a blubbering mess in the tub, the water splashing onto the floor as he tried to sink deep into the water. Luckily, the tub he was in was big enough to hold his entire body—tentacles and all, but it wasnt exactly too deep, not for him at least.
“Do you have anything you wanna say about how he looks?” Jade suggested, the comment making Azul nearly burst into tears.
No. Please no…
Azul was nearly in tears, his throat going dry, his chest tightening and his hands clawing at his closest tentacle, nearly drawing blood. He couldn't bare the idea of your judgement. Couldn't bare to hear what you had to say about this side of him.
He hated how he looked. He always had. And it was bad enough he looked like this when he overblotted. His thoughts shifted immediately into concern.
Would you be afraid of him? Was he scary to you like this? Did you think he was going to hurt you…like he almost did last time?
His heart pounded at the idea of you fearing him, of you being in here so long while he was like this. At the idea that his girlfriend saw what he truly was deep down.
His chest lurched as he watched your hands slowly uncover your mouth, your eyes averting for a split second to Jade and Floyd as if uncertain of what to say.
His nails successfully broke his wet flesh, blue blood begining to stain the water. But the pain didnt phase him. Didn't make him flinch. He held his breath when he watched you take a sigh and open your mouth.
Please no. Please don't— I can't take it! Please—
“He looks absolutely gorgeous…”
Azul's brain nearly short circuited, Jade and Floyd whipping their heads around quickly, not expecting you to give into their teases that easily. Not expecting you to admit anything really. They had expected you to try and shove them off, maybe say something along the lines of he always looks good, or he looks fine, but they didn't expect that. And clearly neither did Azul.
The room fell silent for a moment, not even a breath exhaled before a deep laughter exploded behind you.
“I knew it! I knew you had the hots for him when he overblotted!” Floyd screeched, doubling over in a fit of cackles while Jade's face just turned a slight pink. You covered your face lightly to try and hide the dark amount of blush that produced when Floyd said that, the outburst making all of them shocked, except Floyd of course.
“D-Don't say it like that!” You whined, trying to glare at him behind your ashamed expression, clearly not denying the fact that you had indeed thought that his overblot body was…attractive. It was also the first time you had even seen anyone look like that too, let alone you pretty boyfriend.
“Oh c'mon! When I checked on you the day after it happened all you could do was blush and mutter about wanting to see him again!” Floyd blurted out, deepening the shame of it all. You should probably not have even mentioned Azul around Floyd after the overblot, your mind shifting instantly to his good looks before the fear of it all.
This time Jade was the one to have his jaw hit the floor, shocked at the fact you had ever thought such a thing. Meanwhile Azul was boiling in the tub, his vision blurry and his mind scattered.
You thought he was hot the first time you saw him…when he overblotted?
Eventually when Floyd calmed and ceases his verbal harrasment, you were given the short story about how Azul ran out of his transfiguration potions and they didn't have extras at the time, meaning for a while until they went shopping or a miracle happened, Azul would be stuck like this. You were a bit skeptical of their story, questioning them about the secret supply Azul always kept for them a compartment under his desk, but they claimed it was bone dry.
You asked about the extras in the hidden drink cabinet at the bar. None. The ones in Azul's drawer? Gone. The ones in the lounge storage area? Apparently missing.
When you finally asked about the extra emergency one Azul had given you to hang on for him back at Ramshackle, they quickly changed the subject and claimed they had already asked Grim. Apparently the little beast spilled it…which wouldn't be too unbelievable if not for the fact that Jade and Floyd seemed to be too happy about this whole ordeal.
Nonetheless, when they asked you take care of Azul in the meantime so they could run the lounge, their was no way you were declining. Even if Azul was extremely flustered at the idea of you having to feed him, wash him, and keep him company…but as the tweels left you two alone he knew there wasn't anyone else he could really rely on unless he wished to starve for a few days.
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
After reassuring Azul about twenty times you didnt mind taking care of him, and maybe slipping in a compliment or two to keep him quiet, you sat in a comfortable silence, your eyes trailing the tentacle he had moved for you to see close up.
It stretched nearly as long as the bath was, perhaps double if he wasnt sitting. You didn't even have to see him fully stretched to know it either, watching as the tip of the tentacle curving awkwardly as to not get too close to you.
Azul stared silently, watching your every breath, every twitch of your expression for some sense of disgust, some indication that you had lied earlier about how you felt for him. But he couldn't find any…nothing but awe in your eyes.
“Did you really mean it…” he whispered, his voice bringing you out of your thoughts. Shifting your full attention on him caused him to blush so hard the tips of his ears almost looked black, his eyes averting yours as he stumbled for the right words. You only smiled at the look in his eyes, gently laying your arms on the edge of the tub to get a better look at him. He had your full attention, and you wanted him to know that. That you weren't afraid. That you weren't disgusted.
“What you said about me? W-was it true?” He whispered, looking down in regret at his wounded tentacle, the blood still caked onto his fingers like ink. His hands clenched tight under the water, still invisible to your adoring eyes. You held back a sweet laugh, your lips parting with a sigh as you laid your head down, your vision making him tilt with the angle.
“Of course I did.” You replied sweetly, the words sounding like honey dripping off your lips. “I think youre the most beautiful man I've ever had the pleasure to lay eyes on, Azul. And I mean that,” His breath hitched at the sudden contact he felt on his displayed tentacle, your fingers gently rubbing the squishy skin with the tenderness of what he could only compare to of an angel. Thats what he swore he was seeing right now. What he was watching slowly… an angel, leaning down to kiss to press a kiss against his exposed skin.
A few hours later, Azul had exponentially softened around you, growing more comfortable with each awed look you sent his way. Not to mention you told him you text Floyd to make his favorite dish for dinner, one he wanted to desperately decline considering he didn't want to eat so much calories in front of you. However, you had already seen the look in his eyes and still sent the text.
When you left to get the kaarage from Floyd he waited patiently, silently yearning for your adoring gaze to meet his figure once more. It made him feel a bit selfish—to want to keep you here just so he could hear you whisper how pretty he was again, or how much you loved the look of his wet hair—but after the years of grossed out looks and degrading words he heard, it was no wonder he wished to have you by his side.
Feeding him was a tad difficult at first, because he didn't want you to see the inked stains on his hands, and he couldn't eat properly with his left. He claimed he fell on his hand earlier or something and tried to get you to just eat the food yourself. But that was not stopping you.
“Darling, I insist, I'm okay.” He smiled, watching as you grumbled with your face hidden from his view. He assumed you were pouting or maybe cursing his stubbornness under your breath. But if anything he was just happy you weren't nagging him with eating again.
“Besides, that many calories is well over my daily intake and ingesting such foods might—mnph!”
The taste of chicken flooded Azul's mouth, your face pressed against his, your tongue pushing the food in his mouth before he could even finish his sentence. When you pulled away, Azul was baffled, a soft choking sound leaving his lips as he awkwardly ate the chicken. He nearly gasped for breath when he swallowed it, his head sinking against the wall before he felt a cold bottle of water on his neck and peeked between his hair to see your warm smile.
Sevens…you had him in the palm of your hand.
The little chicken stunt seemed to do the trick as you quietly fed him, over the tub now, his little cheeks puffing with every fork full of chicken you fed him.
“I-i really appreciate your care for me, pearl,” he mumbled between chews, unable to help the happiness that he expression in his tone. “Im sorry you were dragged into this.” He swallowed, taking a sip of the water with his left land.
“Azul, I don't mind at all!” You rebuttled, secrectly offended at his apology. “I know you don't like being like this, but I seriously do not mind it at all.” you smiled, raising the fork once more to feed him another bite. “I'm just glad you're okay with me helping. I'd much rather prefer I help than leave you to Floyd or Jade all night.” A small smile grew at his lips, his mouth opening to receive the fried chicken eagerly.

Placing the empty dish on the counter in the bathroom you sighed and carefully took your shoes off, not bothering to stay in them if you would be sleeping in here tonight. The thought of staying wasnt confirmed, but you knew the twins would most definitely make it happen if it wasnt it the works already.
“Darling?” Azul called from across the room, his eyes bearing into your back.
“Yeah, baby?” You replied softly, placing your shoes down as he motioned you back over. “Is everything alright?” You asked, carefully checking the water temperature to make sure it hadnt gotten too cold for him. Instead of answering right away, you felt his tentacle shift against your fingers, your eyes lifting to find his face inches from yours.
“Would…it be too selfish to ask you to join me?”
Your eyes widened slightly, your hand falling still. He wanted you to sit with him? In the bath?
He noticed the way your expression flickered, the way your body tensed for a moment. He thought about apologizing for even making such a statement in the first place. Before he could say anything though, he already felt your hand press down on his body, your leg slowly lifting to climb into the tub.
For the first few minutes you both were a ball of nerves—you worried about smushing one of his tenatcles too much or making him uncomfortable—while he was worried about the skin to skin contact, a bit concerned having you pressed against him might change your mind.
But…after a while, things settled.
His arms were wrapped gently around your waist, two of his tentacles encasing you, bringing your body flush against his to the point where he couldn't miss any part of your body. You had your arms around his back, your nails scratching gently against his skin where he always smiled at when the two of you cuddled or slept. It was still a tad awkward whenever he shifted and your whole body was moved or you tried to move your arm and hit the tub wall, yet it was comfortable. Peaceful. A kind of euphoric feeling that neither of you had to speak of. It was just shared.
Azul watched as you silently pressed your fingers against his skin, the touch slightly explorative rather than subtle. He didn't seem to mind though. In fact, he slid his wet arms around you tighter, his tenatcles rubbing against your warm arms to let you get a small feel. You hummed at the contact, your expression softening.
“That feels really nice, Azul…” You voiced against his skin, a small kiss planted on his shoulder in thanks. He couldn't control the way his heart skipped at the affection, his eyes searching for yours as he slowly shifted dragging the same area over your skin again. He felt your weight shift almost instantly, the happy sigh that left your lips making him only want more.
“So, soft…” you mumbled sleepily, tucking your head against the crook of his neck, a habit you had naturally adapted to after sleeping over with him most nights. The gentle praise on your lips had him beaming, his confidence rising just enough to place a small kiss against your temple before you drifted off to sleep. As the sound of your tiny snore and mumbles filled the room he made sure to prop you up enough that your head wouldn't slip under the water, his body supporting most of your weight as you slipped unconcious, his touch still present as you slept.

“Well, thats rather…interesting?” Jade muttered, opening the door to check on you in the morning, the forgotten pillows and blanket he was supposed to bring you last night lingering in his arms. Floyd pushed past him impatiently, not bothering to contain his voice when he saw you wrapped up in Azuls limbs.
“Hey?! How come he hugs shrimpy like that and not me?!”
The two of you shot up at Floyd's tease, your eyes shooting open and instintively pushing against Azul, startled from the noise. Azul let you go instantly, fear coursing through him at the sudden disapproval. You landed awkwardly in the water, your legs tangled between Azul's giant tenatcles, one of them catching your head before you knocked it against the tile.
“Floyd! Whats wrong with you?!” You whined, not even registering you were completely soaked now, your collared shirt slowly absorbing the water and changing from white to see threw. You didn't notice it at first, fussing at Floyd for startling you both before Azul suddenly pulled you harsh against his chest, your nose smacking into his torso. “A-azul whats—”
“Darling, please don't move.” He growled, nearly every tentacle surrounding your frame from the two stupid eels lingering in front of the door. Realizing the wardrobe shift, Jade snatched Floyd back, pushing his head down quickly into a bow as he apologized. “Jade get off—” Floyd whimpered, trying to shove off the boy's hand before Azul's voice cut through the room. “Out. Now.”
At the simple command, the door shut instantaneously, leaving you to try and sit up, unsure of what just happened.
“Azul whats wrong? Did they…” You words cut as a wet tentacle encased gently around your chest, no pressure added to the grip but enough to cover up your bra from showing through. It hit you like a freight train, your body tensing up at the contact. “Azul let me go! I-i need to go change!” You pushed against him heavily, a soft grunt leaving his lips as he pulled you back down.
“Darling, sit still.” He bit out, the blush covering his face making you freeze. “Please…let me help.” He whispered, looking away to the counter where a towel sat. You observed his tentacle closest to the wall stretch out, picking up the corner of the towel with ease. He brought it close to the edge before he shut his eyes tight and his grip softened.
“Here…for you.”

During the time you walked back to his dorm room you shivered every so slightly, the chill from the halls and the fact that you slept in a bath last night hitting your body with small spasms. You made it to his room in a short time, locking the door and heading to his closet to grab a spare change of clothes, his reaction replaying in your mind.
You knew your boyfriend was a sweetheart— a gentlemen. He had completely outdone himself this time though. The way he ushered Jade and Floyd out of the room the instant he saw your shirt. The way he concealed your chest even from himself. The way he shut his eyes for you so you could climb out without him catching a peak…sevens this man was perfect.
You tried not to linger too long in his room, taking one of his softer shirts and some joggers you left one night to wear, stripping the wet clothes and tossing them into a small pile for later.
You dropped your bracelet on the way over, your eyes catching a glimmer of something under the bed when you reached down to pick it up.
How odd…

On the way to the kitchen you twired the glass in-between your fingers slowly, watching the purple liquid swish around with every step. You arrived at the kitchen, Azul's breakfast waiting there perfectly on the counter. You grabbed for it, but a hand beat you to it first.
“Ah-ah-ah, shrimpy!” The glass scraped against the table, Floyd's finger tugging the plate back. “If you want to feed the octopus, I'm going to need that vile you've got first…”
Obviously, you came back inside the bathroom Azul waited in with his breakfast in your arms. He looked up to greet you, already pushing himself to the edge of the tub and reaching out for you, only to hesitate once he saw you biting at your lip.
“Is something troubling you, Pearl?”
“Whats the transfiguration potion color again?” You blurted out, ignoring his question entirely, your nose scrunching while you flickered your gaze to his.
“P-pardon? I thought you knew,” he frowned, upset at the thought of you forgetting one of the most entrusted things he gave you. The thing that Floyd claimed Grim had broken. You called Grim to ask him about it before leaving Azul's room, but he didn't pick up.
“Its purple. Right?” You replied, your voice softening as you sat down on the edge of the tub, putting his plate beside you with a silence that unnerved him.
“Yes…yes it is.” He confirmed, his tentacle coming up to brush across your back to try and soothe the contorted look on your face. The scowl hidden in your lips. He asked why you wanted to know if you got the answer correct, but you decided not to mention why. You kept in in the back of your mind as you fed him his breakfast, the weird tone in Floyd's voice echoing in your ears.
“If you want to feed the octopus, I'm going to need that vile you've got first.”

Considering the clear stress in your body, Azul offered you to lay on his chest as you had last night, ensuring he would keep your shirt dry this time if he was startled. You obliged, stepping into the tub like before only to flop down on him. Azul winced on impact but wrapped you up anyways, watching as you settled when he ran his limb over your shoulders.
The two of you sat silent for a hour or so, the only sound coming from the room being the shift in water when Azul would rub your back or shift you further onto his chest. He shut his eyes after a while, the feeling of your warmth breath against his chest making him melt, his body reacting silently to the feeling of contentment. He didnt even notice when his tentacle on your back slowed. When it crept to the hem of your shirt. When it slid against the bare skin of your body.
The only indication something even happened was when you squirmed a bit, your hands digging slightly into the flesh covering his spine.
He peered open one of his eyes, his brows raising only to find your skin warm, you breaths uneven. Unsure of the situation he sat up, his hands cradling your face to check your eyes.
“Pearl? Hey, talk to me? Whats wrong? Do you have a fever?” He rambled, his limbs persistently grazing over your hips, his expression dimming when you clenched your jaw.
“You u-um—I just…” you grumbled, struggling your inner thoughts as he rubbed his thumb across your cheek, bringing your eyes back to his. “damnit Azul…you just feel…” you choked out, settling to hide your face in his chest to not embarrass yourself further. To not give in to every thought in your mind telling you to kiss him. You weren't even sure if he was trying to fluster you on purpose, but with each slimy caress your composure cracked just a little.
It took a moment for him to understand the cause of your words, a deep swallow heard as you felt the tentacle freeze. You looked up at him weakly, your fingers twitching on his skin, the look on your face all too familiar to him.
He cleared his throat, apologizing quick so he could explain himself. “I didn't know I was doing that, my love! Please forgive me for intruding when you were trying to rest.” He stammered, swallowing again as a dryness in his throat occured.
You shook your head, your hands reaching to wrap around his neck instead, your request straight to the point. You didn't care if it was accidental. You didn't ask him to stop. In fact after a moment or two you asked him to keep going.
“Mmn…I'm so glad…I get to…see you like this…” you gasped between each kiss, your mouth colliding hard against his. Azul felt like his entire body was receiving shocks with each brush of your lips. With each squeeze on his back you gave him. He desperately lapped up each word you spoke to him, swallowing hard everytime your tongue breached his lips. He felt like he hadn't even had breakfast, absolutely starving to taste every inch of your mouth you let him explore.
The request you gave earlier still stood, expanding further as his two other tentacles tended to your body. His hands had the pleasure of being in your hair, each soft tug making you groan only to be met with a matching vocalization from him. Meanwhile, the one tentacle kept under your shirt, squeezing, rubbing, pulling at your back with all its might. Another occupied your leg, coiled up to your thigh in attempts to hold you close, while the third resided behind your neck, aiding him to tilt your head perfectly so his lips could slot against yours. It was a bit messy, a bit rough, definitely a bit different, but you both consumed every second of it, passionate about taking in every inch of one another.
You had always found him attractive, especially when he kissed you and his hands would dig into your hips and situate you just right in his lap so you wouldn't have to worry about hurting your neck to kiss him. But this was so very different than the normal kisses the two of you exchanged. Instead of one area being attended to, he practically had your entire body filled with his touch. You didn't even care about how he sank in the tub, dragging you deeper into the water changing your second pair of dry clothes to wet. All you cared about was him.
He tried to contain his excitement, he really did. He tried to keep his limbs steady, respectful. And he tried to keep a level head—tried to keep your head above the water too. Yet all of it left when you told him about wanting this more often, wanting the real him. He felt your lips move off him, and he didn't have time to protest before he felt your teeth dig into his shoulder.
You felt water splash into your face after the nibble, the two of you brought back to your reality, silence lingering for a moment between trying to catch your breaths.
Then the laughter kicked in.
Azul couldn't kiss you under the water after all, you couldn't breathe it like he could. He really wished he could, feeling a bit bad for ruining the moment you decided to try and bite him, but the matter of it all was still peaceful. Soft. Warm.
Just the two of you smiling down at one another, realizing you two were completely enthralled with the other.
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
It was nearly dinner by now, the aftereffects of your makeout session leaving the two of wrecked. You hadn't even bothered for lunch, too tired by the time you were done exchanging kisses, your body limp.
Azul had never kissed you so much before. Never held you so tight. Never stayed long enough for you to break down his walls and see too much of his vulnerability. Never splashed you with water during a kiss either—but the moment you two shared had still been magical, the agreement to take a long nap after the excursion not even needing to be discussed. Both of you were just happy to be in one anothers arms. Happy to have time together where he wasn't worried about contracts or keeping the twins out of trouble. All he was worried about was you, and keeping the water warm enough to not give you a cold.
Dinner rolled around and there was a knock at the door. Your eyes remained shut, your mind spent from the past twenty-four hours octopus care giver role you had stepped in for. So, when Azul heard the sound, he was the one to reply.
“Come in.”
The door creaked open softly, a breathless Grim met with him instead of a particular eel.
“Grim?” Azul mumbled, covering your ears when he realized he might wake you. What was that furball doing here so late?
Azul wanted to question him as hard as he could, ask him why he broke the vile he gave you, ask him why he hadnt returned your calls or even stopped by. Some companion he was.
Grim however held up a purple liquid in a vile before Azul even got a second breath out.
Oh.
Oh…
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
Azul nearly knocked their heads in when he finally got his legs back, his expression full of anger and embarrassment at the stunt the eels had pulled on him. They took the scolding proudly though, only nodding or exchanging pleased looks before returning to watch him pace around like a chicken with his head cut off.
According to Grim, the twins had stopped by when you first came over to the lounge a day ago to get a snack. They offered him a large some of tuna in exchange for the purple potion you kept in your desk, and he easily traded it, not even realizing what it was before it was too late. After not seeing you for a day, and his phone being dumb—or the fact he couldn't tap any of the buttons correctly, he decided to show up. Only Floyd and Jade kept him occupied for a while until Grim managed to swipe the vile back.
As the boys got chewed out and admitted to their crimes for the love of the game and perhaps to show Azul you wouldn't care about his merform, you laid peacefully in his bed, finally back into dry clothes, a dry bed, a dry place to sleep. Not that you didn't enjoy sleeping on Azul's chest, but you could confirm a dry bed was better than a wet one.
You contemplated waiting up, wanting to thank Grim for helping you and Azul, or wait for Azul to come back so you could sleep beside him.
“Get some rest, my pearl. I'll handle the Leech issue.” You remebered his words all of a sudden, the idea of sleep not sounding like the worst idea. You went to shut your phone off, leaning over to place it by a spare case for Azul's glasses. Your hand lingered as a lightbulb clicked in your brain.
When Azul got back to his room, Grim following in tow ready to curl up at your feet, Azul noticed your phone open on his beside table, his eyes lingering for a moment after he helped Grim onto the bed and the beast curled up beside your leg.
Curiosity got the best of him while he slipped into his pajamas, gently rubbing the red mark you had left on his shoulder. He felt his heart race when he saw the words on your screen, his eyes welling with tears at the list.

How to take care of an octopus:
> Compliment him any chance you get. Maybe ask him to show you this side more often.
> Feed him crispy chicken and sneak in a kiss.
> Make sure he sleeps happy—preferably lay on his chest and snuggle with him.
> Ensure he eats a yummy breakfast.
> Show lots of love and praise, he responds well to it.
> Keep in a warm bath.
> maybe keep in a big tank? Warm water.
> Kisses and a small water fight—he plays fair and does not drown on purpose.
> Ask for back rubs if he's comfortable! (He is very soft and squishy)
> Lightly scold to tell you when he's injured himself next time. Maybe invest in waterproof first aid kit or check tentacles prior for any injury?
> Make him laugh and smile.
> Also look into octopus pajamas or plushies—want to see the reaction.
> Most importantly: Reassure him he's the most beautiful man I've ever laid eyes on…
Honestly I really enjoyed writing this but chances are within five thousand words i could have made an error lol. But thank you for reading it anyways and hopefully this satisfies my first anon compliment on my crazed obsession with writing about Azul. It really does mean a lot to hear positive feedback.

"𝑰 𝑾𝑶𝑼𝑳𝑫 𝑩𝑬 𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑫 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝒀𝑶𝑼"
Ace trappola was your best friend.
When you first met him, you first thought that he was unruly, rude, and harsh— he still is, he's still that unruly, rude, and harsh boy you loved, but now that you two are best friends, you started to notice some interesting things he'd only do for his friends that he thinks is subtle, but not for a person like you that deals with him 24/7, if he actually thinks he can be subtle with his best friend then he's truly peaked at stupidity.
And you noticed all lot from him from the past months now.
At first, you didn't say anything, he was Ace after all, this was the same boy that jokingly flirts with people because he thinks it's funny to see their reactions, so it didn't really alarm you. However, after you looked more closely and stayed up all night thinking about it, the more you noticed.
In the first month that you noticed his weird behaviors, you chalked it up to him being the weird typical Ace behavior, the second month you still did nothing but it sparked some questions in you, the third month was when you started to look for cameras to see if anyone was filming these weird behaviors, by the forth month you confronted him about it and he brushed it off, and by month five? You were fed up, truly. Now normally you wouldn't be so worked up about this, but you were literally starting to realize that you loved him, romantically and platonically, so seeing him give you mix signals sends you spiraling.
And on one sleepover. You finally got your answer in the most stupidest ways possible.
You two were watching a romance movie you picked because he lost a bet, and as best friends, you two were cuddling in the couch while sharing a bowl of popcorn. Typical normal friendship stuff.
Now what you didn't consider in this movie marathon, was the movie itself— it wasn't bad or horrible or anything like that, no, it was actually really good. But the problem was it was too good. The premise was interesting, the cinematography was a chefs kiss, and the plot deserved an applause. In fact the plot was so good that it felt like a personal attack to your own love life, specifically, regarding Ace— because the plot was too similar to what you two were experiencing.
Essentially: the male lead and the female lead were best friends pinning eachother, the problem is, the male lead was too stuck up and egotistical to realize his feelings for her, and the female lead was too loving and caring to let him go. You can sense the angst that is bound to happen.
The two of you seemed to share this knowing silence. But none of you wanted to say that, you two would rather be silent than truly say it— well, except for Ace.
Ace Trappola knew this would happen, he knew that he would bound to confess soon— with his growing feelings and intense emotions that he felt for you, it was bound to slip up, it was a matter of time after all. But he didn't know whether you would reject him or be oblivious as fuck and interpret his actions and words as platonic when all his feelings are the complete opposite of that, and he didn't know which was worse.
His eyelids felt heavy as he rested his head on your shoulders while hauling you up to his chest, he sighed and snuggled close to your collar.
"I know that I'm such an asshole to you..." He started— better be late in admitting his feelings than letting them fester and ruin you am I right?
Anyways.
"And I probably don't deserve you" he mumbled under his breath.
"But I just wanted you to know that 𝑰 𝑾𝑶𝑼𝑳𝑫 𝑩𝑬 𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑫 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝒀𝑶𝑼"
His breathing evened out and softly held you as he finally slept in the comfort of your presence.
What he didn't consider was that you were completely and utterly awake watching the movie, eating popcorn, and half listening to him until you heard him utter those last five words. What he didn't consider was the fact that you did in fact listen to him even though he can barely be heard by the volume of the TV, what he didn't consider was the fact that you were blushing furiously after hearing those words escaping his mouth.
You froze amidst eating the popcorn, your hands mid air as you stared at the TV with your ears ringing.
After recovering and finally snapping back to reality you called out to him, hoping and praying that he didn't fall asleep during that life changing sentence— because if he did? You wouldn't know if you were dreaming all this when you wake up.
"Ace...?"
You slowly faced him.
And there he was, sleeping peacefully, as if he didn't dismantle your whole heart with that simple sentence.

Deuce Spade picked on too many fights to be friends with you.
Normally, when people think of Deuce and his group of friends they would think: rude boys who punch people just for the fun of it, prideful boys that thought they ruled the world by just breathing, they would picture boys that had piercings and scars all throughout their body. They wouldn't picture you. A person who's the complete opposite of him, a person who patches him up in times where fights got too rough, a person who craddled his callused hands and ran their fingers through it to comfort him, a person who for all they know, is too caring for him.
But they don't know him like you do.
They don't know that he protected you from those same rude boys that they thought were friends with him, they don't know that he fought for your honor, they don't know the true Deuce.
Like right now, as you two sat in your kitchen.
You sighed as you pulled out your first aid kit from the cabinet and layed it next to him on the table.
"Another fight, right?" You asked with that same disappointed tone you used when you address a child that caused trouble but knew it was for a good cause.
"It wasn't my fault they talked shit about you!" He huffed while his curled his fists.
You took out the alcohol from the first aid kit and dabbed it on some cotton, "tell me what happened" you urged as you held his face and started to clean his cuts and bruises up, he hissed from the pain but didn't say anything as he told his perspective on why he caused a fight— you swear this boy was trying to give you grey hairs early.
"There was a group of boys that said that you were too "gentle" and "soft" and they should beat you up because..." He stopped.
You hummed and asked him to continue as you threw away the cotton and moved to putting bandages on his face.
He gazed on your concentrated face and your eyes— lords, he loved your eyes, the way it was so expressive when talking to him, the way to perfectly conveyed your emotions. And right now, your eyes had that familiar concern and worry for him, concern and worry that he didn't deserve. He knew that you would be a traget of rumors and shit-talking the moment you associated to be friends with him, the moment that people saw how friendly you were to eachother. But he was selfish and continued to be friends with you despite the trouble he caused in your life.
He should stop this, stop being friends with you and just stick to people like him, he should stop being a selfish and—
"Deuce? Are you okay?"
And...
He can't because he loved you.
Because he loved how gentle and caring you were with him, he loved how understanding you are to him, and he loved how you were you.
And as he sat in your kitchen table, being tended by you. He can't help but realize that he has been loving you— the moments where his heart would turn to mush when you two held hands, the moments where he would lean in your hands when you cuped his cheeks, the moments where you would hug him as a congratulation when he passed his tests, he loved you, completely and utterly loved you with no filters.
His eyes gazed on your own worried ones and couldn't help but soften up.
"I'm sorry..."
You tilted your head in response. "Why are you sorry? Those boys were clearly in the wrong so no need to-"
"You don't understand!" He cut you off with a frustrated yell, he ran his fingers through his hair, messing up his normally kept hair. "It was because of me okay?? It was because you're friends of me that you have a target on your back now, it was because of me- you-" he stopped and slumped back onto your shoulders then hugged you.
You froze for a moment before you embraced him back.
"It was because of me that you would've been beaten up by those assholes." He mumbled softly on your shoulder blades.
You burried your head on his chest. You stayed silent for a few minutes, you two sharing a quiet moment after that whole emotional outburst, trying to keep your thoughts together and recollect yourselves.
You sighed and pulled back slightly and pulled his face to cup it on your hands.
You brushed your fingers on his cheeks and stared at his eyes. "But I didn't, didn't I?" You smiled gently. He paused and opened his mouth to say something but you cut him off before he could. "Deuce. I'm okay. Because of you, I'm not lying on the streets beaten up." You pinched his cheeks gently as he winced and let out a soft 'ow!' "So quit your whining. I'm okay"
He stared at you for a moment with a surprised expression. Then his eyes softened once again and held your wrists gently, he leaned on your hands and sighed.
Then he glanced up at you with that fond smile of his that you only used to see in romance movies when the romantic interest would say something romantic after doing that smile. Your breath hitched.
"𝑰 𝑾𝑶𝑼𝑳𝑫 𝑪𝑯𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝒀𝑶𝑼 y'know?" He smiled.
Your face suddenly burned as you looked at him with an agape mouth. You closed it and huffed then
'SMACK!'
"OW!" Deuce clutched his head and pouted.
Stupid boys like him truly are the bane of your existence. And if he wasn't your friend, you would've kicked him out of your house.

Cater Diamond is the only extroverted man you've ever loved.
He was sparkly, outgoing, and he draws attention to everywhere he goes. He's the life of the party, while also being the helpful senior that he is, he's everything that you wanted to be— as an introverted, shy and quiet person that hides behind him whenever he talks to other people, you don't get why he's friends with you, why he even bothers to put up with you.
You just sighed and slumped on his bed while sneaking glances on him while he did his usual influencer things.
He looked so beautiful.
The way the lighting encapsulates his beauty more, the way his brightness literally shined throughout his room, and the way he's just unapologetically happy.
You frowned.
However, you knew this was all just a fake facade he puts up for others. You knew the true him, the true unfiltered Cater.
Not Cay-cay.
He ended his Livestream with a smile, and just sits there quietly as his smile slowly dropped and as his shoulders slowly slumped. Then he sighed and took his phone then plugged it to it's charger, his whole body sagging from burn out.
Your frown deepened.
"Cater?"
That seemed to snap him out of his trance and jumped a bit from your voice, he chuckled awkwardly and scratched his neck "oh! You're still here teacup?" He said with that same strained smile, that forced one that you didn't like.
You shook your head and opened your arms for him.
He tilted his head in confusion "I- do you need a hug teacup?" He asked. You shook your head. "No" you then pointed your finger at him "but you seem like you do" you smiled softly and urged him "so would you like one?"
He seemed surprised at that. Cater never got offered a hug before, in fact, he never had anyone offer him any type of comfort until you. His quiet and dependable friend that he kind of has a crush on— don't blame him! You're just so comforting and considerate that he can't help but melt; you were the only one to see his facade and all his layers and decided to stay, even with all his flaws. So don't blame him for acting so selfish with you.
His previous strained smile replaced his face with an awkward true smile.
He shook his head in exasperation but indulged and went up to his bed to be embraced by you— oh dear, this was much more relaxing than he first thought.
He relaxed and buries his head on your chest as you two fell silent while you ran your fingers through his hair.
He was getting more drowsy the more he stayed in your arms, the comfort of your embrace, the warmth of your arms, and the atmosphere? Yeah, he was bound to fall asleep in this. But before that, his mouth had to say something really stupid.
"I never really considered this back then..." His voice muffled by your clothes as he mumbled in your shirt, although you still heard him, thankfully.
"But 𝑰 𝑾𝑶𝑼𝑳𝑫 𝑬𝑿𝑷𝑶𝑺𝑬 𝑴𝒀𝑺𝑬𝑳𝑭 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝒀𝑶𝑼..."
An eerie silence echoed in his room that a pin dropping could probably be heard all throughout the room.
He doesn't actually think that right?
"C-cater?- do you actually-"
A snore could be heard from him.
Your hands stopped threading through his hair and froze, until you sighed and continued with a slight frown on your face.
Why do important things always happen on the most worst moments?

Trey Clover is the most dependable person that you could trust.
You would know as his friend. He's the type of friend that prepares you tea when you had a bad day, he's the type of friend that holds your hand when you need someone to hold you through your darkest days, he's the type of friend you can trust with your life.
However, like how you can trust him with your life, he trusts you with yours.
He trusts you because you're brave, you jump into trouble for the sake of your friends, he trusts you because— even though you're not as calm and responsible as him, you're shameless and risks everything for the peace of your loved ones. Everything he wants to be.
You groaned and slumped in your chair as you stared at Trey reading his book— like a grandpa, but you wouldn't admit that to his face.
You shuffled your ass to be seated next to him and snuggled your cheek on his shoulder, then you sighed again. He raised his eyebrow and glanced at you "what's wrong now?" He asked while turning a page.
You nibbled your lip and looked up at him "promise not to get mad?" Trey looked in your eyes and said, through his eyes, 'I have been managing you through all your chaotic days, I don't think this will top that' you pouted, he smiled cheekily "I have heard worse from you"
"But alright, if that makes you confess your sins"
You twiddled with your thumbs. "I may or may not have people threatening me because of a prank I did to their friend group leader" you mumbled.
He froze.
"I know this is like really bad... And I need to fix this before I get jumped" you continued once more.
You squeezed his forearm, "I don't want you to fix it or anything considering how busy you are with your dorm— and I don't want to be a burden" he sighed and gently flicked your forehead.
He adjusted his body to hold your face in his hands, "you're not a burden, you're my friend, so I'll try to fix it for you okay?-"
You shook your head. "No! No, I don't want you to be pressured Trey" your eyebrows furrowed and held his wrists with your hands. "I already have a plan" you smiled reassuringly, "no need to fix my own problems for me"
He seemed to be deep in thought for a moment, before he sighed and pulled his hands away. "Alright then." He then continued reading his book, "y'know where I'll be right?"
You giggled "I know, in the Heartslabyul kitchen of course"
You knew Trey, he wouldn't get physical, he wouldn't be aggressive to people. He's calm and collected, he doesn't punch people— despite looking like it, he's too nice and he hated confrontations... So why did he show up to your door smiling with bruises and cuts?
You gasped and ushered him into your living room— and while you didn't want to ask, you knew why he showed up to your doorstep like he faught.
You shook your head like a disappointed mother as you cleaned up his wounds as he stayed quiet. You scolded him of course— this was the type of thing you did, not what he did, this was completely uncalled for!
"Why did you fight for me Trey?? You know that I could've easily beaten them!"
"This is the most unexpected thing you-
"Y'know that I love you too much for this to be uncalled for" he smiled gently at you as you froze in your tracks.
"I would do anything for you." Then he intertwined his hands with yours

Riddle Rosehearts is your strictest tutor that pulled you through the hardest exams
Not only was he your friend, your crush, and your tutor, he was also, too impatient for you— not like the typical impatient people that you encounter, no, he's the type of impatient that wants results now to ensure that you're adhering to his expectations, he's the type of impatient that can't quite wait for you to think because he wants you to know now. And although he's changed throughout, he still has moments.
Like right now.
Since you're not exactly as smart as him, nor are you as fast to respond like him. He's forced to wait for your answers.
He massaged his temples as he stared at you getting stuck on a question again for the fifth time. He was getting fed up to be honest with himself.
He called your name and pointed at the question, "read it again okay? Slowly— and try to understand it on a deeper level" you tilted your head, but nonetheless you obliged and read the question under your breath.
That went on for three more minutes too long for his impatience.
However he endured it. For you.
You hugged him as you approached the exit to his room— you two finally concluding this day's tutor session.
You chuckled at his tired expression as you held him.
"I know how difficult I can be sometimes" you tucked your hair behind your ear, then you smiled at him "but I'm glad you put up with my shenanigans all the time"
"You're a great friend Rids"
He seemed to be struck by that as his expression changed slowly to a flustered expression. He sighed as his ears burned red from your words.
"don't worry about it..."
"𝑰 𝑾𝑶𝑼𝑳𝑫 𝑩𝑬 𝑷𝑨𝑻𝑰𝑬𝑵𝑻 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝒀𝑶𝑼, always"
Now it was your turn to be flustered, you giggled and kissed his cheek.
"Thank you Riddle"
When you finally went home. He stared at his doorway like a lovestruck man as he replayed what happened again, and again, until he groaned loudly then melted on the floor.
Oh sevens. He loved you. And this was when he realized

⋆. 𐙚 ˚𝓣eaching Grim a secret handshake because it symbolizes a deep bond from where you're from and the first years finding out, forcing you to teach them your secret handshake to them too.
I like to headcanon that secret handshakes don't exist in twisted wonderland. Greetings in twisted would most likely be a handshake or a dap up at best, but a secret handshake? Nope, never heard of it.
So you would introduce them to it. Mainly Grim after you taught him a secret handshake.
The thought just came up to you on a random morning while getting ready to go on about your day, until your head was like "how about you teach Grim a secret handshake like how you and your best friend used to do" and so you did. You made up a secret handshake on the spot, taught it to Grim, who surprisingly memorizes it fast and now you two do it all the time to greet eachother if one of you are separated, or if you two finish a particularly hard task and succeed.
The first to notice the secret handshake is Ace and Deuce of course; they would notice how your hands seem to do a secret greeting that only Grim knows how to do when you two reunite after being seperated. Ace would get pissy about being left out, and Deuce would stare with jealousy in his eyes as you two do that thing again with your hands. You finally taught them the secret handshake and now they wouldn't stop doing it with eachother or with you and Grim. Finally perfecting a potion in Crewel's class? Secret handshake, passing in Trein's test? Secret handshake, Managing to finish five laps on the track as to Vargas's instructions? Secret handshake as a celebration. You swear they're trying to numb your hands atp.
Another victim to this is Jack. Jack probably got curious to the incessant handshakes that was unfamiliar to him. He doesn't remember people in the twisted wonderland do that, he doesn't remember a handshake that has five steps before ending. Then after multiple instances of doing the handshake in front of him you made him join in on the fun by just doing the handshake with him, no practice, no step by step tutorial, no introduction, you just went up to him after doing the secret handshake to Grim and did it to him too. You are very lucky that he caught on quick and was very quick to learn after seeing it multiple times. I headcanon that he doesn't do it as much but he does still do it, just not as excessive as Ace and Deuce. It's just a way to insure you're friends y'know? Like a confirmation of sorts.
Epel would definitely notice the secret handshake and will definitely demand to do it too. You would have to teach him three times until he could grasp it, but once he does he has an undying grip on it and will do it to y'all to make himself feel 'manly' because does anyone have a secret handshake? Does everyone have a sick greeting as this? No, so that's why he does it to greet you guys, he does it to show off, and he does it to feel smug. He just loves how secretive he is. But he will get used to it so much that he accidentally does it to other people, his ands move too fast for him to comprehend that he did it to Rook and not you guys. You can imagine the horror he felt after realizing it.
Ortho observes the secret handshake with interest and curiosity but will not ingage or ask questions, he thinks that it's personal so he doesn't really ask about it nor ingage unless told to. This will go on until he could practically memorize the handshake. You guys will have to ask him to join or better yet do it to him. He'll be very happy and enthusiastic after being part of it and will show it off to his brother. Be warned though, if he finds out that you could essentially make different kinds of combinations of handshakes he will make difficult and different kinds of handshakes and show it off to you guys. You probably have three more handshakes because of him.
Sebek is last because he's stubborn and doesn't understand human culture all that much. Although after allot of encouragement and persuading for him to join in on the fun but rest assured, after you do he'll very much feel very included and will show it off enthusiastically to Lilia and Malleus, but he will never say that to your face. You will have to engage first though if you want to do the secret handshake with him the first few days because he's quite stubborn. But after a few weeks he'll get more comfortable and will eventually do it in front of others or to greet you guys, however he'll treat it as if it's a secret promise between knights. A little warning though he does get smug and will gloat about it to others in earshot, the whole school will know about it in a few weeks if you don't shut him up about it.
Every single one of them gets very protective of the secret handshake and gatekeeps it hard to other students. If the students make fun of it? They'll get very furious and defend it as if they're life is on the line, if other students try to copy it? They'll make it known to the world that they did it first and they are the superior to secret handshakes and will not shut up about it.
They'll do the secret handshake to you one last time if you go back home, it's shaky, their grip is too tight, and their hands often miss yours. But its theirs and they are proud of it. After you go back, all of them will avoid using it to greet eachother because it reminds them too much of you, but they do it in front of the mirror to not forget about it. Rest assured though, after a few months they'll do it again to eachother, but this time it's much more sentimental, and too heavy to be considered normal.
