This blog will talk about Twisted Wonderland, which is a game I really love. What I love the most about this game is the dynamic between the prefect and Grim, or should I say the parent supervising their problem child. I think that their interactions are really cute. They have been through so much, and I just want them to be happy.
I will write about, as you guessed, the Ramshackle duo, but I will also write about the other characters as well. I’m still figuring out some of the characters personalities and how I can write them. English is also not my first language, so I will make mistakes for sure or use poor vocabulary. So, please bear with me.
I am a huge fan of arranging the guest room. I really like farming and crafting the different furniture and try to have the most points while keeping it pretty. I also like reading the main story, events, and vignettes while trying to groovy as many cards as possible.
Here is everything I have written so far.

A spoonful of sweetness - Kalim edition
What if discovering Kalim’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
Summer was well settled, no doubts. The sun was shining in a sky empty of clouds as the temperature rose abruptly. Everyone on campus had found shelter inside the school’s building or in their dorms. Though, you couldn’t say the same. Today’s was your boyfriend’s birthday so you were on your way towards Scarabia. You were preparing yourself to face the atrocious warmth of the desert that was Kalim’s dorm as you walked towards the Hall of Mirrors. Though, luckily for you, he found you before you had to pass through the mirror.
“HEY!” Yelled a voice coming from a distance.
You turned around to see your boyfriend sprinting towards you with his usual huge grin and sparkling eyes. Given how fast he was arriving, you could tell he was beyond excited to go into town.
“Hi, Kalim.” You greeted the boy as he stopped in front of you.
“Hello! I can’t wait to show you the place I chose! It’s a really fun place. I’m so excited for today!” He exclaimed as he clasped his hand around yours and led you towards the campus gate.
“I wonder what’ll it be…” You pondered as you walked beside him.
“I’m sure you’ll like it… No. You’ll love it! Let’s go!” He yelled as the two of you left Night Raven College grounds.
Luckily for Kalim, he had you or else he would have straight up led you towards his chosen place. On your way to town, you reminded him that it would be nice to go choose an outfit for him. It wasn’t every day that a renowned tailor would offer his selection to students. Even if it was just for their birthdays, it always seemed like a fun experience to live. And since the boy always looked for something exciting to do, it was something the two of you couldn’t pass up for anything!
“Whoa!” Exclaimed Kalim as he entered the tailor’s fitting room. “It’s incredible to be able to choose from pre-made clothes! I can’t wait to compose an outfit!”
“What do you mean by pre-made clothes?” You inquired, getting the boy’s attention on you.
“Back at home, we would always have a tailor who would come and take my measurements. Then, some days later, beautiful clothes would arrive at home ready to be worn!” Explained your boyfriend.
“You couldn’t choose the design or the colors used for your own clothes?” You asked, your eyebrows furrowing.
“Not really… The tailor always chooses but not once did it not suit me. He’s really incredible!” Exclaimed once more the boy.
“That explains why you’re so excited to pick your own clothes for today, then.”
“Exactly!” He yelled as he began excitedly to look at all the different racks in the room.
You decided to let him have his fun as you looked at him, running from rack to rack with his usual energy, with a fond smile. If days like these could allow him to experience the life of a normal boy, then you would let him explore everything in a heartbeat.
“Okay! I’ve chosen my outfit!” Kalim’s voice brought you back to reality as you looked at the clothes he was proudly holding in his hands.
“A bright red shirt covered in sequins with a shiny gold jacket paired with blue shorts and shoes covered in jewels… That’s…” You turned in your head different sentences in hope of finding one that wouldn’t crush your boyfriend’s spirits. “That’s… original?”
“Isn’t it?!” He exclaimed as he flashed you his biggest grin.
“Though, I’m sure we can find an outfit that would suit you even better!” You attempted, hoping that a challenge would get him to leave his outfit which… didn’t go that well together.
“Oh? You think so? I wonder what it could look like…” He pondered, already deep in thoughts.
“Bingo!” You cheered in your head. Then, you cleared your throat to get Kalim’s attention. “The short looks nice. I’m sure that paired with a blue jacket…” You left the sentence hang in the air as your eyes scanned the different jackets. Until they landed on the perfect one. “Like this one!” You exclaimed as you took it in your hands.
“Wow, that’s a beautiful color you found there! It looks like the color of the sky when there’s no clouds in sight. You’re very talented! Thank you for choosing this for me!” Exclaimed your boyfriend in return, as he took the piece of clothing from your hands.
“Now… the jacket feels a little plain.” You stated as you looked at it. “We should add…”
“Some decorations.”
“Some decorations!” You both said at the same time, bursting out laughing in the process.
“I’m glad we’re on the same page! Leave this to me!” Exclaimed Kalim as he sprinted towards the changing room.
A few moments later, the sound of the curtain could be heard. Your head turned towards the source of the sound and you were met with the boy in a blue and white outfit with a huge grin on his face.
“How is it? It suits me really well, don’t you think?” He asked.
“It looks wonderful on you, Kalim.” You responded with a smile. “Though, it seems like you and your tie had a fight and that the tie won it.” You said as you looked at the mess of knots that was his tie.
“Is it that obvious?” He asked sheepishly. “The truth is… I don’t really know how to tie it…”
“Come here, I’ll show you how.” You said softly.
“You’re the best! I’m happy you were here to help me out!”
The two of you passed some more time at the tailor as you taught your boyfriend the art of tying. After some (many) fails and demonstrations, he finally managed to tie it on his own. He was beyond happy when he landed it, thanking you again and again and telling you he’ll show his new skills to Jamil and how he’ll be proud of him. Noticing that quite some time had passed, the two of you decided to head out to town to the place Kalim absolutely wanted to show you.
“Our destination is…” Began your boyfriend as he looked at the different streets in front of him. “This way! Follow me!” He exclaimed as he extended his hand to yours, which you gladly accepted.
As you walked hand in hand, Kalim suddenly pointed towards the town’s plaza and grinned at you. “You know, the last time I went to town with Jamil and the other dorm members, there were musicians there. They were playing super catchy music and I couldn’t help but join in the fun!”
“What did you do? You played an instrument?” You asked, loving to see him this happy sharing his stories.
“No, I could have but I really wanted to dance. So, I began to dance to their music and you know what?”
“What happened?” You inquired with a smile.
“More and more people came by to watch! Some of them even swaying to the rhythm! It was so fun! I think we all had a great time!” He explained as his eyes sparkled.
“That’s fantastic, Kalim. I’m glad you had fun.”
“I did for sure. Though, next time, I want you to be with us. I would really like to dance with you and enjoy the moment!” He exclaimed with a smile.
“I… I would love that.” You responded, feeling shy all of a sudden from his declaration.
“Oh! Time flies when you share wonderful stories. We’re here!” He exclaimed as he let go of your hand to go stand in front of the building, his hands on his hips. “The movie theather!”
“The movie theater?” You asked, your head tilted to the side. “Is there a movie you want to watch?”
“As much as watching a movie together sounds fun and we should really do that sometime! What I want to show you isn’t a movie, it’s this!” He said mysteriously as he stepped to the side, letting a capsule toy machine come into view.
“A capsule toy machine!” You exclaimed. “That takes me back.”
“Heh? You already know what it is?” Asked Kalim, perplexed.
“It was common to see some at the entrance of grocery stores.” You explained.
“Oh, I see. Well, I didn’t know what they were until I went to town last time and… They’re amazing!” He said, grinning from ear to ear.
“Isn’t it? Some collections are really awesome.”
“It’s just way too exciting! You never know which one you pulled until you open the capsule. That’s what makes them so much fun!”
“I agree. Though, sometimes it’s frustrating because you want one in particular but you can’t seem to get it.” You pouted.
“That’s exactly why I’m here today.” He said, looking determined as ever.
“Really? Which figure are you trying to get?” You asked, peering at the displays on the machines.
“I’m trying to complete this Scalding Sands collection.” He explained, pointing to you said machine. “It’s my favorite! And I’m just missing one figure!”
“Oh no! That’s the worst case scenario! Which one is avoiding you?” You asked, getting as determined as him.
“This one. The two-dumped camel.” He said, looking very serious. “Last time, I used all my coins but didn’t get it. This time, I came prepared.”
Kalim put on top of the machine a huge bag full of shiny coins (enough to make Ruggie faint) and declared. “I’ll have the complete set.”
His goal now clear, the two of you took your places in front of the machine and began to try your luck.
…
“Oh no! Another genie lamp!” You both exclaimed as the capsule opened.
…
“Just how many magic carpet are there in this machine?” Kalim asked.
…
“That makes us ten duplicates of that little monkey. Can we even call them duplicates anymore?” You wondered.
…
“It’s…” You both yelled. “It’s the camel!”
You high-fived each other and cheered. “I finally have the complete collection!”
“Congratulations, Kalim! It only took us like… 40 pulls.” You breathed out. “Wow, that’s a lot.”
“I AM SO HAPPY! I’LL PUT IT ON DISPLAY IN MY ROOM!” He exclaimed in happiness and excitement.
“Well, that was fun.” Breathed out Kalim, once the two of you exited the movie theater, figures all over your arms.
“It was and we got the camel.” You responded.
“We got the camel, finally! Oh, by the way.”
“Yes?” You asked, trying to see his face between two figures.
“Since you helped me get the entire collection, you can choose as many duplicates as you want!” He exclaimed.
“Really? Thank you, Kalim.” You said with a smile.
“As long as you’re happy, then I’m happy too.” He responded with a smile of his own. “We should go to that bakery. I heard they made a special dessert just for me. We can’t miss this!”
“We definitely can’t.” You answered, your curiosity peaked.
“Great! Then, let’s go!” He exclaimed, walking with determination. Until he stopped and looked at you. “… Do you remember how to go there?” He asked, scratching his head sheepishly.
As soon as Kalim’s eyes met the bakery’s display window, he ran up to it, his eyes shining like jewels. You caught up to him, nodding to every pastry and dessert he was showing to you with energy. Curiosity getting the two of you, you couldn’t wait any longer and pushed the door of the establishment to discover your boyfriend’s special dessert.
“Everything looks so delicious here! Is it like this in every bakery?” Asked your boyfriend. “This is my first time here.”
“Usually, yes. Everything looks so good that you have to stop yourself from buying everything.” You explained.
“I understand why! Every fruit sparkles like jewels! Oh, I can’t wait to taste my dessert.”
“I think that’s the one on the table over there.” You said, pointing said table to him.
“You’re right. Let’s go try it out!” He exclaimed, dragging you by the arm.
You didn’t even have time to sit down that Kalim had already put a spoonful of jelly inside his mouth.
“It’s even better than it looks!” He breathed out in delight. “Here, have some. It’s my birthday after all and I want everyone to have fun!”
“Happy birthday, Kalim.” You said with a smile.
“Thank you! I had a wonderful birthday! Oh, wait!” He abruptly stopped himself.
“What is it?”
“You can’t have dessert without a good tea! I’ll go make some. Wait here!” He exclaimed, already gone from sight.
“Please never change, Kalim.” You muttered to yourself with a fond smile.

A spoonful of sweetness - Deuce edition
What if discovering Deuce’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
The weather was starting to get warmer, the sun lasted till the first hours of the night, and the students of Night Raven College were counting down the days before their summer vacation. You were currently waiting in the shade of a tree by Main Street, waiting for your boyfriend to arrive. Today was his birthday, and he had asked you to help him out with the infamous filming project. After viewing and analyzing different videos and writing his speech together late at night yesterday, today was the so-awaited day of the presentation. Though your boyfriend seemed to be late… You were about to check your phone to see if Deuce had texted you, but a form running down the street caught your eye before the voice you could recognize from miles away reached your ears.
“Sorry, did I keep you waiting?” Asked Deuce as he caught up to you.
“Not at all, I was just about to text you actually.”
“I see…”
Suddenly, he bowed his head and yelled. “I’m looking forward to working with you!” Startling you in the process before a smile crept up your lips, knowing what was up with him.
“Deuce, I know you all too well now. What are you nervous about?” You asked softly.
It was now his turn to get startled as he looked at you with a sheepish expression. “Was I this obvious?”
“Yes, you were.”
“Ah… I see… Well, the truth is… this project…” He began.
“Yes?”
“It’s something really serious.”
“Indeed, it is. What’s wrong with that?” Your eyebrows furrowed.
“It could be my chance to prove that I’m an honor student! I want to make this a success!” He blurted out.
“That’s what you were worried about?” You asked with a smile.
“Don’t you dare make fun of me! Yesterday, Ace…”
“I’m not Ace, for one.” You cut him off. “For two, Deuce, look at me.”
The boy looked into your eyes and was met with the kindest smile he had ever seen. He knew what that look meant; he had seen it a lot of times from his mother.
“Deuce, I’m sure it’ll be a success. You’re a very hard-working boy that never gives up. Even after mistakes. So, I’m convinced that you’ll rock this one!”
“Thank you.” He breathed out, the signs of stress nowhere in sight. He closed his eyes for a moment and breathed slowly before opening them again, a look of determination now in place. “Alright, let’s film this video! To the tailor to choose an outfit!” He exclaimed as he began to storm towards town.
You preferred to see your Deuce like this.
“Whoa!” Exclaimed your boyfriend as he entered the dressing room. “That’s a lot of clothes... I’m sure to find something fitting for an honor student!”
And just like that, he was gone between the racks, skimming through every one of them with his eyebrows furrowed. You silently chuckled to yourself as you looked at him. He really was on a mission to find the perfect outfit. A few moments later, he came running back to you with a huge grin on his face as he proudly presented you the clothes he had picked.
“What do you think about this white shirt with these blue moccasins?”
“Uhm…” You said, not sure how to tell him that it looked way too plain and serious for a filming project.
“Eh? You don’t like it?”
“It’s not that I don’t like it. It’s just a little bit too plain?” You tried, hoping not to crush his determination.
“Too plain?!” He exclaimed and then quickly checked his reflection in one of the mirrors decorating the room. “I guess you’re right. This is difficult… Could you help me out?”
“Of course! Then…” You began as you observed the different jackets and shirts. “Oh, I know. How about pearls?”
“Pearls?” Deuce asked as he joined you.
“Yes! It might create a serious look without making it too plain.”
“Oh! I see! That might be a good idea!”
After composing the perfect outfit, the blue-haired boy ran happily to the fitting room, a sparkle of curiosity in his eyes.
“It’s embarrassing to wear…” You heard your boyfriend’s muffled voice from behind the curtain.
“What are you talking about? I’m sure we did a good job at picking it out! Let me see.”
Slowly, the curtain opened, letting you see him fully dressed in his new outfit. He really looked quite different from usual; his bangs were parted, and the unusual combo of yellow and blue suited him quite well.
“My, don’t you look handsome right now?” You teased softly as you caught his cheeks reddening.
“Handsome?!” He blurted out, avoiding your gaze. “I… Thank you…”
“Oh, but you’re welcome.” You responded happily.
“Though, it’s true,” He began, trying to change the subject. “Buttoning everything to the very top makes me look like an honor student! I’m glad we chose this together. Thanks again!”
The two of you left the tailor shop and headed to town, hand in hand. Deuce was staring at your interlinked hands with awe. It has been some months now since you started dating, but it seemed like he still couldn’t wrap his head around it. That made you quietly chuckle, which earned you a little gasp as the boy tore his gaze away.
“The breeze feels nice, d-don’t you think?” He asked, his voice trembling slightly.
“Very much. It looks like summer is almost here.” You responded, playing dumb to his attempt at diverting your attention.
“Oh!” Exclaimed Deuce as he came to a halt in front of a burger restaurant. “The poster has changed.”
Successfully diverting your attention, you looked at said-poster. “It’s true. Is it for their new menu?”
“It looks like it is! I can’t wait to try it out. I’ve heard their new burger is absolutely delicious!” He exclaimed happily.
“We should try it out sometime.”
“I thought the same thing! Though, we won’t go with Ace. Every time I think about the last time we tried to do our homework there and how he kept making fun of us for being slow, it makes my blood boil. So, we’ll go just the two of us next time.”
“Like a date?” You teased, not resisting the opportunity he had given you.
“I… I guess you could call it a date…” He said, avoiding your gaze. “Ah! But only if you want to, of course! I don’t want to force you!” He quickly exclaimed with wide eyes.
“How could I refuse a date with my boyfriend?”
“I guess you’re right. Then, let’s schedule it once we get back.” He said with a smile.
After walking for a few more moments, the two of you stopped in front of a shoe shop, but what caught your eye wasn’t the storefront but rather the sign “Shoe repair.”
“We’re here. That’s the place I want to introduce for the video.” Said your boyfriend.
“I didn’t know some stores still repaired shoes…”
“I know, right? I happened to discover this shop when I needed to buy new shoes for the track and field club. But when I asked the manager for some recommendations, he offered to repair them.”
“How long did they last?”
“Until last week's training.”
“They lasted for at least six months?!” You exclaimed.
“Can you imagine? I was also shocked to see how the repair gave my shoes a second life. The staff here is really talented.”
“That’s why you want to introduce this place; I get it now.”
“Let’s go inside so that I can show you around.”
The store looked like any other store; shoe boxes were displayed in various sizes and colors and were organized according to their use. Though, you noticed that the sports section offered way more options; from spelldrive shoes to running shoes, every club of Night Raven College could find what they looked for. You were sure of it.
“Alright, I’m ready to start.” Said Deuce, cutting you from your observations.
You nodded and took out your phone as you heard him repeating his speech between some “What was it again?” Once you were settled, you gave him a thumbs-up and a smile. He closed his eyes and breathed slowly for a moment before looking at you as he mouthed a “ready.”
“Good afternoon, I am a Heartslabyul student, Deuce Spade from class 1A.” Exclaimed your boyfriend as he began. “I would like to introduce this shoe store. Located in the heart of Foothill Town, this store has everything you need. Their selection is vast and… What was it again?” He muttered to himself as a few seconds of silence followed. “Ah, yes. I remember. As I was saying, the staff is very competent and offers you recommendations based on your walking habits…”
After a few moments and a few awkward silences, Deuce managed to get to the end of his script (not without forgetting a few parts) as you ended the video.
“Can you show me the footage, please?” Asked the boy.
“Of course. Here, take a look.” You responded as you turned the screen towards him.
Another awkward silence filled the room around you as you finished looking at the video.
“I sound way too stiff.” Muttered your boyfriend.
“I agree.”
“What can I do to sound less stiff though… I really want to talk about their shoe repair service, but it’s difficult to put it into words…”
“Deuce.”
“Yes?”
“Didn’t you tell me just now that your running shoes needed reparation?”
“I did say that, yes. Why are you… Oh! I get it! You want to film the repair process!” He exclaimed.
“That’s right. It’ll be easier for the viewers to understand, and you’ll sound less stiff since it’ll be a conversation with the owner.”
“That’s amazing! I’m really happy to have you here with me! I’ll go ask the owner.” He said as he stormed towards the counter.
The two of you had just left the shoe shop with some wonderful footage of the repair process.
“I can’t believe it.” Breathe out Deuce, as you were walking towards Bonbon Recette. “My running shoes look brand new! They just got a third life! This shop is really amazing!”
“I agree. It was fascinating to see the owner work, though the best part was the number of options to choose from for your soles!”
“I was so stunned when the owner asked me to choose the soles… It was embarrassing…”
“I wasn’t better than you. When he began to present all the different options, my brain blacked out.”
He chuckled in response. “I’m glad I wasn’t the only one.”
Soon enough, the sweet smell of pastries and the storefront of the bakery came into view. Both of you rushed inside, curious to discover what the establishment had prepared for your boyfriend’s birthday.
“Woah! This place is really stylish!” Exclaimed Deuce as he entered the building. “I feel out of place in such a fancy vibe.”
“Deuce, I think you forgot about the clothes you are wearing.” You reminded.
He quickly looked at his outfit before breathing out. “I guess, you’re right… haha.”
“There are so many sweets here…” You said as you admired the display.
“That’s true… Oh!” The boy’s gaze fell on the table set up for him. “Is that the special jelly prepared for me? Look at those grapefruits covered in syrup!” He exclaimed as he put his fork in his mouth.
“It’s so refreshing!” He hummed in delight, mouth still full. “And I think it’s soda flavored.”
“You think?”
“Yes? Please have some!” He said as he pushed the plate towards you.
“I’m not going to say no but before that…”
The boy tilted his head to the side.
“A very happy birthday, Deuce.” You said with a smile.
“I… Thank you! I’ll put my all this year too! And also… thank you for helping me.” He responded with a smile of his own. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
“You did the big part of the job.”
“Yes but… in my moments of doubt, you were here for me. And… I’m grateful for this. So, thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” You whispered as you kissed his cheek. “I’ll always be here for you. By the way, you didn’t ask me to take a picture of you to send to your mother. Would you like to take it now?”
“Oh, you’re right! She would love to see my outfit! I’ll also call her tonight once we’re back to tell her about this wonderful day!”
Deuce flashed his biggest smile to the camera, knowing that the two persons he loved the most were proud of him and that was the best gift he could ever receive.
Maybe we are more alike than we thought - Scarabia - Pomefiore
He always believed that the two of you were different. But something you did made him question this statement. Maybe you shared more similarities than he thought…
Heartslabyul and Ramshackle
Savanaclaw and Octavinelle
You were comforting Grim, who was sad. Instead of trying to divert his attention to something happier, like Kalim would have done, you asked him what was wrong. When he explained it to you, instead of saying “That must be rough” or “I understand”, you told him that you couldn’t understand but that you were willing to lend an ear and a shoulder to cry on. This struck Kalim. That’s what he should have done with Jamil ever since they were children. He should have had a true conversation with him. Not to try to understand his struggles—he knew he couldn’t since their lives are literal opposites—but rather to be aware of them and offer him a presence. Instead, he chose to be oblivious and closed his eyes to his friend’s suffering; fault on him and the system that asked him to do that. Maybe, if he had talked with Jamil, he would have let him help. Kalim knew what he had to do. Your words only encouraged him to try harder and make up with his friend.
Ace and Deuce had invited you to hang out, but you said no, telling them you needed time for yourself. That baffled Jamil, who always said yes, part of his position but also part of his pride. He convinced himself that he could do anything. He didn’t need rest or time for himself. He was perfect. At least that’s what he thought during the day. When night would fall and he would be alone in his room, that was the opposite. Always saying to himself, “Why did I say yes? I need time for myself.” But admitting this meant he wasn’t as okay and perfect as he convinced himself. Jamil would love to have your courage to admit your feelings and needs. Maybe if he had done that earlier, Kalim would have understood… maybe; it’s Kalim we’re talking about. Or he could try to vent to someone who has nothing to do with this. Maybe he will feel understood even if it pains him to admit that he may need it.
The sound of a curtain opening caught Vil’s attention. You had emerged from it, wearing an outfit with the most atrocious choice of colors he had ever seen in his life. Vil immediately thought about stepping in and teaching you a thing or two about colors and composition. But his lecture vanished when he saw you burst out laughing with Grim. And maybe, just maybe, he smiled at the sight. Seeing you try out colorful clothes and mixing different styles reminded him about the essence of fashion: creating. Ever since he was a child, he had been thrown into trends and designer clothes. But, before that, he experienced different styles before finding his own. He, too, tried on an outfit that looked atrocious just to check it wouldn’t suit him. Maybe you were a step above him in terms of fashion by creating, serious or not, a new style.
When someone asked you if you were the magicless prefect and you answered yes without reacting, Epel was baffled. Your reaction did. All his life, he had been summarized to be only cute. Nothing else. He couldn’t hear that word anymore without having his blood boil. He can’t imagine how many times you had been reduced to the magicless prefect by the students at NRC. He admired your strength to not snap at them. If it were him, he would have already punched them. He had asked you the question before: “Why don’t you tell them that you are way more than that?” You had told him that they were not wrong; it was a part of you, and by not snapping at them, people would see other things in you. Because they saw that you accepted that part of yourself and embraced it. Not ashamed one bit. Epel thought that he too could learn to accept his cute features, and maybe he would grow better this way.
Rook discovered rather quickly a similarity between the both of you. He had stumbled on you crouching down to look at something with a little smile on your face. When he approached you and peered over your shoulder, he discovered a little ladybug perched on a flower. As the ladybug took flight and came to rest on your finger, you beamed. Another day, he saw you looking up at the sky for a few minutes. When asked what you were looking at, you said there was a funny-shaped cloud. Rook understood that you had the same wonder in your eyes as him. Always trying to find beauty even in the most mundane things. That would bring a smile to your face but also to those who asked you what you were doing. According to him, finding beauty everywhere painted the world in various colors and warmed even the most tired hearts. Beauty isn’t just for the eyes; it’s also for the heart, and Rook was glad that you understood that too.

What if discovering Silver’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
Today was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the flowers were in bloom, and the birds were singing happily. Nature always had a way to react to Silver’s milestones. It seemed that once more, it was happy to celebrate the boy’s birthday. You were making your way towards Diasomnia to meet up with your boyfriend. He had come to you the day before, asking you to accompany him, but the agreed meeting time had long since been exceeded. When Silver isn’t somewhere in advance, it means that he has fallen asleep somewhere.
You had expected many things: seeing him sleeping draped over the couch or maybe under a tree. But you definitely weren’t expecting to see him awake. The first thing you heard before entering his room was his soft laugh. It wasn’t often that the boy laughed, so you couldn’t help but peek inside the room, where you were met with the cutest sight you could think of. Silver was still in his pajamas, a sign that he was indeed sleeping, while holding a single flower in his hand. A little bird was perched on his windowsill, chirping happily as it looked at the boy.
“Is the bird wishing you a happy birthday?” You asked, deciding to let your presence be known.
Both the knight in training and the bird looked in your direction, surprised by your arrival. Though, it wasn’t long before your boyfriend cracked a smile.
“I suppose it is, indeed.” He said as he placed the flower on his desk and thanked the bird, who decided to tag along and perched on his shoulder.
“You were sleeping just a minute ago, weren’t you?” You teased lightly.
“I apologize for keeping you waiting. I didn’t mean to sleep for so long. Luckily, this bird helped me wake up. Otherwise, I don’t know when I would have opened my eyes.”
“I don’t mind, Silver. I don’t mind at all.” You reassured him with a smile. “Though, if we want to enjoy this day to the fullest, we should maybe head out soon.”
“You’re right. Wait for me in the lounge. I’ll meet you there in a minute.”
Once Silver was ready, both of you headed to Foothill Town. On the way, the boy kept telling you how grateful he was for your help and your presence. The rest of the walk was quiet with no words exchanged; that’s what you learned to love. Silence always carries that uncomfortable atmosphere, but not with Silver. The boy never spoke much, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel or think. Quite the contrary, he always had a way of making you feel like you mattered because you know that every time he speaks, it comes from his heart, and that’s irreplaceable.
“Incredible.” Said Silver as he entered the tailor shop and scanned the different clothes. “There are so many outfits prepared…”
“For sure…”
Both of you began to walk around the room to examine each piece of clothing. After a moment, you caught a glimpse of a dozing Silver between two racks. You chuckled quietly to yourself before gently shaking him awake.
“Silver, we’re supposed to choose an outfit for you.”
“… Ah!” Exclaimed the boy as he jolted awake. “My apologies.”
“Take your time. It’s your special day after all.” You encouraged.
“I know, but… I really want to show you a place. I better hurry and find a suitable outfit.”
His focus back on, he carried on his previous examination. A few moments later, you heard a sigh coming from him.
“Is something wrong?” You asked.
“I don’t have many preferences in terms of clothing. I usually wear what I have on hand as long as it’s easy to move in… I really don’t have much experience when it comes to picking formal wear. Could you help me?”
“Of course, no problem.”
“I thought of wearing a black tailcoat.” He said as he looked at you.
“A tailcoat? It may be a bit too stiff…”
“I see… Then, how about a gray jacket?”
“…”
“What’s wrong? Did I say something that angered you?” Attempted the boy.
“Maybe you could try clothes and colors you don’t usually wear? Like this red jacket? That might create a more spring-like look…” You asked as you held said jacket in your hands.
“Of course, red is the color of strawberries. That reminds you of spring? Very well, I’ll go try it on. I’ll be right back.” He said, heading towards the changing room.
“There, I’m ready.”
You turned your head towards your boyfriend, fully dressed in red. It’s true that you said that red was a spring color, but to think he would choose the same for his whole outfit… Either way, he looked happy about it, so you were too.
“That’s lovely, Silver.” You said with a smile.
“Matching colors and clothes is more difficult than I thought. I don’t know much about it, but I tried to add accessories. What do you think?”
Looking at the strawberry brooch and his necklace, you approved his choice with a nod, which earned you a sigh of relief from your lover.
“I’m glad. That settles it, then. We should head to town now.”
Just as you were about to open the door, his voice stopped you.
“Thank you. I wouldn’t have been able to choose a suitable outfit without you. You have my gratitude.”
“You’re welcome, Silver.” You said with a smile as you kissed his cheek and took his hand in yours. “Now, let us head to the place you mentioned!”
With such beautiful weather, the town was bustling with life. You were walking peacefully with your boyfriend at your side as you pointed out to him different shops you were frequenting: from the local supermarket to your favorite clothes store. Silver had been silently listening to you, sometimes asking you what you bought or what you liked about the shop.
“You’re very knowledgeable about this.” He said after you introduced him to a new place.
“I like to pass time here. There are so many more things to do here than on campus.”
“I don’t come here very often, and when I do, I buy what I need and head back. I never imagined there were so many different stores…”
“You never let yourself be tempted by a colorful storefront or an interesting discount?” You asked.
“No. I have everything I need. Though I once came across a handmade ocarina, and that made me want to go play mine.”
“You have an ocarina?”
A little smile appeared on his lips as he answered you. “Yes, it’s a gift my father gave me from one of his travels.”
“That’s so cool! Can you play it?”
“I can.” He said. Your eyes immediately lit up at his answer, which he didn’t miss and added. “It seems that you are interested. Very well, I’ll let you know when I plan to play it again. I hope it’ll be to your liking.”
“I’m sure it will be.”
“How can you be sure?”
“Because you’ll be the one playing it.” You said with a smile.
Soon, the view changed. The houses and plaza had given way to boats and the peaceful sound of the waves against the docks. It always bewildered you how different the atmosphere was.
“That’s the place I wanted to show you.” Admitted the boy as he resumed his walking, still holding your hand in his.
“I like it.”
“I’m glad. It’s a very pleasant place. Not very crowded, with only the sound of the waves and the sea breeze to accompany you.”
A comfortable silence took over once more as you admired the boats or just focused on the sun grazing your skin. Your steps guided you to the beach, where the warm sand greeted you. You let out a sigh of contentment. It was truly a perfect day. Though, of course, the peace couldn’t last. Out of nowhere, something flew right above your head with its wings almost brushing your head.
“What was that?!” You shrieked as your hands went to cover your head.
“It was a seagull.” Responded Silver with a straight face.
“A seagull?!”
“Yes, they usually keep me company when I train here.”
“They keep you company?” You asked, not really sure to understand his statement. At the same time, a seagull screeched as if it were laughing at you. You glared at it from the corner of your eye.
“Yes, they’re good training partners.”
“How can you train with seagulls?” You whispered to yourself just as another bird screeched at you.
“Here, they’re ready to start training.” Said your boyfriend as his eyes locked with a seagull on the sand. “We play chase. Since I’m running on the sand, that makes me strengthen my legs.” He explained as his whole body prepared to bolt, running.
“You play… chase?” You asked as you saw your boyfriend starting to run in the direction of the seagull.
It lasted for a while; you watched your boyfriend run after a bunch of birds with all his might. He had invited you to join him, but seeing the diabolic look in the seagulls’ eyes, you knew you would get attached right away, so you politely declined under the same mocking screeches.
“… Thank you… I appreciate your patience to wait for me while I trained…” Said your boyfriend, out-of-breath after his training session.
“You’re welcome. Though, I’m sure those seagulls were mocking me.” You said, glaring at them as they disappeared at the horizon.
“I think they just wanted to play.”
“You heard how they were laughing at me?!”
“It’s their way of acknowledging your presence.”
Knowing you wouldn’t be able to convince your boyfriend to take your side, you decided to drop the subject.
Once Silver had recovered from all his running, you decided to walk some more on the beach before heading to Bonbon Recette for what your boyfriend had called his post-training recovery. The sight of rubies met you as soon as you reached the storefront of the bakery. From strawberry tarts to strawberry jam-filled pastries, everywhere you looked, the strawberry was showcased.
“This strawberry cake looks delicious and fresh.” Exclaimed your boyfriend as his vision landed on the cake set up for him. He took one strawberry with his hand and put it in his mouth. His eyes lit up instantly. “It’s delicious!”
“I never took you for the type to eat with your fingers.”
You saw his eyes widen, realizing that what he’s done wasn’t really formal. “Not that I mind, though. It tastes better this way.” You added to reassure him as you copied his gesture.
“That’s what I’ve been told since I’m little. I would head outside and pick wild strawberries with the animals that accompanied me, and we would eat them together. It became a habit since then.”
You imagined a younger Silver eating bright red berries with little rabbits and birds, and you couldn’t help but melt at the vision.

A spoonful of sweetness - Epel edition
What if discovering Epel’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
The apples on the courtyard’s tree were finally in bloom, announcing the settlement of spring. Both the students and the nature seemed happy about it. From pollen flying everywhere to picnics being organized on the school’s grounds. Everyone seemed to enjoy the soft breeze and the first warm days the sun had to offer. You were currently picking strawberries in the courtyard to snack on them later. Maybe you would invite your first-year friends, but that had to wait because a voice called out to you.
“Here you are! I’ve been waiting for you, you know?”
“Waiting for me…” You began, then immediately looked towards the clock in horror. “Already?! I’m so sorry, Epel. I was so engrossed in picking strawberries that I didn’t notice the time passing. Were you waiting for long?” You asked, embarrassed.
“Not really. Besides, I knew where to find you.”
“Really?”
“Yes, you kept mentioning when we were going to alchemy how the smell of strawberries was driving you crazy and how you would certainly go pick some for snacking.” Your boyfriend explained while chuckling.
“Phew, I’m glad then.” You exhaled.
“Now, should we get going? I’m really excited to go into town!” He exclaimed with a smile.
You nodded, just as excited as him, and offered him some strawberries as you began to walk on the path leading to Foothill Town.
“Whoa! They’re really good!”
“Why do you think I kept telling you about them? They are AMAZING!”
“Just you wait before Grandma sends me a box filled with our latest harvest. You’ll see how good our apples are!”
On your way to the tailor shop, the two of you argued about which fruit was the best. With Epel trying to explain to you the qualities of the apple while you stayed on your precious strawberries.
“I tell you! You don’t have that crunchy texture in strawberries while in apples, you have it. It’s way better! Plus, you can take a big bite out of an apple when the best you can do with a strawberry is to gulp it down.” Exclaimed Epel, proud of his points.
“I let you win today since it’s your birthday.” You concluded.
“Excuses. It’s just because you don’t want to admit that I convinced you.” He said, smirking at you.
Just as you were about to reply, the boy stopped dead in his tracks, making you run into his back.
“Epel! Why did you stop all of a sudden?” You asked, peering over his shoulder to try to see what caused him to act this way.
“Whoa…” You both breathed out at the same time.
“There are so many clothes lined up! Are we really in a local tailor shop?” Exclaimed your boyfriend as he looked around.
“I don’t know but we have lots of option to choose from, that’s for sure.”
“Yes, but…” Began the lavender-haired boy as he scanned the different racks. “It seems that they’re all elegant and refined designs. I don’t see any cool-looking clothes…”
“I think some of them look pretty cool.” You said, looking at him with a curious gaze. “What do you call cool?”
“I’m glad you asked!” He exclaimed as he grinned. “I want a tough looking outfit with a big dragon or tiger embroidery on the back of a jacket with flashy colors! If it’s a leather jacket, it would be even better!” Stars now in his eyes as he went on and on.
“I see… But don’t you already have a leather jacket?” You asked, tilting your head. “Didn’t you buy one just recently?”
“Oh, you remember. Yes, I bought one last month, but…”
“But?”
“When I tried it on in my room, my roommate said it was ruining my charm… He doesn’t have taste or what?! The pointy studs and leather were made for me!” He breathed out, irritated. “I swear, if I were in Savanaclaw, no one would say that to me or give me a face mask for my birthday!”
“Your roommate gave you a face mask for your birthday?”
“YES!” Yelled Epel. Immediately after his outburst, he calmed down and smiled sheepishly at you. “Sorry, I got carried away.”
“It’s fine. At least I know what you mean by cool clothes now.” You said calmly.
“Ah, y-yes… That was the subject of the conversation.” He muttered.
“While you were… venting.” You began. “I looked for some clothes, and I found this jacket. What do you think about it?” You said, holding it in front of you.
“Uh? That’s nice of you, thanks.” He said as his eyes scanned the piece of clothing. “I’m not really sure about the patterns on the sleeves and the brooches though… Aren’t they a bit too cute?”
“I think it’ll look cool on you.”
“Heh? You really think so?”
“I’m sure of it.” You said, determined.
“I guess I can trust you for now… But it better be cool!” He exclaimed as he made his way towards the changing room.
After some time, you heard a faint “whoa” echoing from the fitting room before you saw your boyfriend emerging from it with a huge grin on his face.
“It actually turned out pretty cool. Thanks a bunch! I’m glad you were here to help.”
“You’re welcome, Epel. You also tied your hair up? It looks good on you.” You said with a smile.
“I… Thank you…” He said, avoiding your gaze. “Either way, it’s about time we head to town. Let’s go!” He exclaimed, storming towards the door, trying to make you forget about the pink dusting his cheeks.
Near Foothill Town’s center, all restaurant terraces were packed to the brick, a clear sign that the weather was much more enjoyable. The town’s plaza was also full of people. Some of them were discussing on the benches near the fountain while children were splashing water at each other. The town seemed alive after a long period of lonely visitors during winter.
“Woah… There are so many people here…” Exclaimed Epel as he looked around him. “I really don’t understand when someone says that there’s nothing to do here. Why they would say that? It’s a really fun place with lots of things to do!”
“Maybe you see this many activities since there’s not much to do in Harveston…”
“I guess you’re right. Besides working on the farm, there’s… not much you can do. Which is why I’m bringing you to the movie theater!” He exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.
“The movie theater?”
“Yes! There’s no such place in Harveston, so whenever I wanted to watch a movie, I had to wait until it was available on TV or on some online platform. I kept hearing my classmates talk about the latest movie while I couldn’t see it. It was so frustrating!”
“I get it. It’s annoying to get spoilers.” You said with an air of annoyance on your face.
“Right?! It’s like the worst!” He exclaimed as you nodded vigorously in response.
“And what do you plan on watching today?” You asked as the movie theater came into view.
“I kept hearing my dorm members talk about this philosophical movie…”
“I didn’t take you for the type to like this kind of movie.” You said, perplexed.
It seems like Epel was waiting for an answer like this one when he smirked at you and proudly exclaimed. “Surprising, right? You know, I’m mature enough to enjoy these movies.”
“If you say so… Should we get our tickets then?”
“Yes, and let’s not forget about the snacks!” He exclaimed.
“I want sweet popcorn.” You stated.
“Huh? Sweet? Salted is way better!”
After two hours in a comfortable seat and an empty bucket of sweet and salted popcorn by your side, the movie ended and you made your way back to the entrance hall.
“What did you dream about?” You asked teasingly as you watched your boyfriend rubbing his eyes.
“I dreamed about how we harvested the biggest apples in all of Twisted Wonderland! We even got a prize and a picture in the journal! Man, I wish it was real.” He exclaimed happily before his eyes widened as they landed on your amused smirk. “I mean… I didn’t really understand why the characters didn’t speak… Everything would have been easier if they spoke… Haha.” He laughed sheepishly.
“You weren’t very discreet, you know?” You teased.
“Was I…”
“You were snoring. Loudly. I had to put my hand on your mouth to prevent you from annoying all the room.”
“Haha… Thanks, I guess.” He rubbed his head, still embarrassed.
“Tell me,” You began, catching his attention. “We went to see that movie because you wanted to impress the other Pomefiore members, didn’t you?”
“I… Maybe?”
You exhaled as you took your forehead in your hand. Before you could utter a single word, he immediately argued.
“Flashy action movies are way better than whatever we watched today! The big explosions, the tough fights, the duel against the bad guy. It’s just way more satisfying! Besides, what’s the point of such a big screen if it’s not for the special effects? The impact is smashing!”
“You’re unbelievable.” You breathed out and smiled. “We’ll go see an action movie next time we come here.”
“Yes!” He exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.
You both left the movie theater and headed to Bonbon Recette while debating which movie you should watch when you get back to school. But the problem is, with such stubborn persons such as you and Epel, the discussion went in circles and would have kept going if it wasn’t for the bakery that appeared at the end of the street. As soon as the smell of the fresh pastries reached your noses, the both of you ran towards the entrance, the choice being postponed to the evening.
“I’m starving! Oh, I can’t wait to taste everything!” Exclaimed your boyfriend in anticipation.
“I wonder what flavor the tart will be…”
“I hope it’s apple.” He said with a grin. “After all, it’s the best fruit.”
“Well, just to prove you wrong, I hope it will be strawberries to show you how good it is!” You replied.
The bet now in place, you rushed to the table set up for him and examined each cake.
“Look! It’s strawberry flavored! I won!” You exclaimed as you took the tart in your hands.
“Look! It’s apple flavored! I won!” He exclaimed at the same time as the apple pie rested in his hands.
You both stopped and stared at each other in silence for a few seconds before bursting out laughing.
“I guess we both won this one.” You said.
“I guess, but…” He began as his smirk took its place once again. “I wonder which one will taste better…”
You didn’t have time to respond that he had already taken a big bite out of the strawberry tart and was munching on it quite happily.
“It tastes so good!” He exclaimed in delight. “Now, for the apple pie.”
A few seconds later, his face lit up with stars in his eyes.
“It’s delicious! The crunchy texture of the apple is the best, I told you so!”
“It’s not fair! You’re the only one who tasted them. Let me have a bite too so I can give you my opinion.” You pouted.
“Here, you can have some.” He said with a smile as he handed you the rest of the strawberry tart.
“Careful! The toppings are about to fall on your clothes!” You exclaimed, pointing to said toppings.
“Heh?! Oh, you’re right! I really have to be careful. I don’t want to ruin the clothes you chose for me.”
You smiled at his cute response and said. “Happy birthday, Epel.”
“Thank you so much for today. It was a blast!”
“It was fun too, even though strawberry is the best fruit.” You muttered the last part.
“I beg your pardon?!” He exclaimed. “Apple is better.”
“Strawberry.”
“Apple.”
“Strawberry.”
“Apple.”
“Raspberry.”
“Where is this coming from?!”
You both burst out laughing as you continued to banter. Days like these were the best.
Maybe we are more alike than we thought – Savanaclaw - Octavinelle
He always believed that the two of you were different. But something you did made him question this statement. Maybe you shared more similarities than he thought…
Heartslabyul and Ramshackle
Scarabia and Pomefiore
Leona saw you near a shop. You were browsing through the different aisles when you encountered a child on their tiptoes trying to reach an item on a shelf. You approached him and asked him if they needed help. As the child nodded, you took the desired item and handed it to them with a smile. The child beamed at the item, now in his hands, and thanked you before running back to their parent. You watched him disappear into the distance until they reached their parent. Unknown to you, Leona had been watching you. He liked how you cared about others with kindness and patience. Maybe, though he will never admit it, he saw a glimpse of himself in you. He does that too… Caring about others. Maybe less openly than you, but he still does. Be it Cheka, Jack, Epel, or Ruggie, he makes sure those kids are doing alright. After all, they deserve kindness and support. Kindness and support he didn’t have in his childhood. The second prince never had any after all. Which is why he’s determined to be someone others can rely on. In his own way, of course. But he’ll always lend an ear to anyone who may need it.
You were sitting on a bench with Grim, taking a break. When he said he was hungry, you took out your snack and shared it, giving him the biggest part. Ruggie saw you smile at Grim as he munched happily on his half. That reminded him of his life at home. He would always give his share to the other kids. And seeing them smile at the sight of food always warmed his heart. Yes, his stomach was still empty, but seeing them happy had always been much more rewarding to him than having a full stomach. He’s sure you thought the same. You were always buying and eating tuna with Grim even though you would prefer more diverse meals. Maybe he would share his snack with you next time. What are you talking about? No, it’s not to see you smile…
You were studying hard for your next exams. Even though you knew you wouldn’t get a good score since it was shared with Grim, who, let’s say, isn’t working very much. At Ace and Deuce’s question, “Why are you even trying so hard?”, you answered that you were doing this to make yourself proud. That reminded Jack of himself. He, too, always gave it his all. Not to shine, not to be noticed, not to be the best. Simply to be proud of himself. To know he gave it his all and acknowledge his strengths and weaknesses. He remarked how having this mindset allowed him to grow and get a better understanding of himself. For that, Jack could only respect you.
You have been helping Ace and Deuce with their homework for some time now. And Azul had picked on something. No matter how many times you would help them, you would never expect something in return. Sure, if they gave you snacks or invited you to hang out as a thank-you, you would accept, but you never ran after them demanding something in return. Azul didn’t understand. That’s not how it should work, no? It’s always something for something in return. That’s the only way to gain trust and allies, isn’t it? One time, you had told him that just seeing their smile or the thankfulness in their eyes was a reward on its own. Besides, kindness isn’t something you count for those you love. Now that he thought about it, his parents never asked for anything in return whenever they would help him. Now, expect a little smile or a gratitude note from Azul every once in a while. He does that to gain an ally, nothing more. It’s not at all because he wants to experience true kindness.
Jade was walking around town when he saw you sitting on the sand, facing the sea. No sunset, no shining sun to admire. Just the rhythm of the waves and the wind going through your locks. You had a pensive look on your face. Jade always loved seeing sides people never showed, kept secret. That made things interesting after all. But seeing you here, looking so vulnerable, so at peace. He didn’t feel thrilled for once. He just felt like he was intruding. Maybe he didn’t want to discover all your secrets just by peering into your eyes. Maybe he wanted to investigate and discover them thanks to your little habits or the way you reacted. Or maybe it reminded him of himself. Always hiding everything, never pouring his heart out. Being secretive had its good sides. People didn’t know what to expect. He could be himself in moments like this one. Just you and the waves—he liked doing that too. Letting them see the true you. He decided to just gaze at you from a distance, admiring your soul laid bare in front of him, yet your secrets still waiting to be discovered.
The first thing Floyd heard was a laugh. When he turned his head, he saw you playing tag with Grim in the sand and waves. Splashing water at each other, laughing and grinning until your cheeks hurt. Not once did you turn around to look at the odd stares of the locals. Floyd liked that. You were letting your inner child come out and have its fun without letting anyone bother you. He did that too sometimes. Just letting his thoughts get wild and forgetting about everything else. This way, he had his share of fun, and he got to see everyone's surprised expression every time he would switch. Seeing you have fun and laughing to no tomorrow, he felt like he could try to get that side of you to come out more often. And who knows, if he’s in the mood, he’ll join you in your game of tag.

A spoonful of sweetness - Ruggie edition
What if discovering Ruggie’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
You were admiring the changes spring had brought upon the campus; flowers were in full bloom, fruits were getting ripe, and the sun was starting to last longer throughout the day. It was a wonderful day to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday! But something was off… You had been waiting for some time now. You checked your phone, no message… Where was Ruggie? You had agreed on meeting now on Main Street. Just where was he? If Leona had sent him on an errand, you would have received a message complaining about the lion and his “princely tantrums”. But here, nothing. Nothing at all. Just as you were about to call your boyfriend, you saw him running towards you with a huge grin.
“Hi, sorry for the delay!” Exclaimed Ruggie as he stopped in front of you, out of breath.
“It’s alright, you’re here now.” You responded as your eyes glanced towards the huge basket he was carrying in his arms.
Following your glance, your boyfriend chuckled. “Shishishi, you’re wondering what I have in this basket, aren’t you?”
“Well… Yes. It looks quite heavy since you’re carrying it in your arms.”
“That’s because I’m taking advantage of this season to the fullest!” He exclaimed.
“What does that mean?” You inquired.
“I’m not giving answers for free. Buy me lunch, and I might tell you.”
Just as you were about to open your mouth to respond, he sprinted off towards the hall of mirrors.
“Where are you going?!” You yelled for him to be able to hear you.
He merely lifted the basket in his arms and answered. “This is valuable food. I can’t let someone steal it from me!”
So it was food he was hiding. Too bad, Ruggie, you lost an occasion to get a free lunch, but you were planning to spoil him rotten today, so it didn’t really matter.
After some time, your boyfriend finally came back, and you were able to head towards the tailor shop. Along the way, you listened to him grumble about the latest errands he had to do for Leona or how this project didn’t make any sense since he wasn’t paid for promoting a shop. Though, the smirk on his face told you he had found a way to make it valuable for him… Guess you’ll find out soon.
“Oh! There are so many classy clothes in here…” The boy whistled as he entered the fitting room. “Do you think I’ll get to keep what I pick?” He asked you with sparkles in his eyes and a huge grin.
“Maybe? I’m not sure…”
“Eh? I guess I’ll ask the tailor later then.” He said with a smirk.
“Bargain?” You asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Bargain.” He confirmed with a nod before turning his attention towards the different racks. “But if I want to be able to keep my outfit, I need to pick one. Let’s get to work!”
The both of you began to look through the different types of outfits, admiring the sparkling decorations and the clothes colors, surely influenced by the latest fashion trend neither you nor Ruggie knew about.
“This jacket has so many gold accents, I take it!” Exclaimed all of a sudden your boyfriend.
When you turned your head from where you heard his voice, you saw him holding proudly with a huge grin the reddish jacket in his hands.
“It’s even strawberry jam colored! It looks as tasty as the gold makes it classy, don’t you think?” He asked.
“I never described a piece of clothing as tasty, but I can see the reason why…” You muttered to yourself before responding louder. “Of course, it looks chic.”
“Can you imagine? I can dress like those nobles. Oh, I can’t wait to try it on! I’ll be right back!” He exclaimed before disappearing behind the curtain of the changing room.
Sometime later, the sound of fabric rustling made you look towards the back of the room. A beautiful man emerged from the changing room with a red jacket with golden accents. How dashing he looked… Just who is that man? Wait…
“I can see from your expression that I look good, shishishi.” The laugh you fell in love with suddenly reached your ears as you took a double take.
It was Ruggie for sure. Though something looked different about him, you couldn’t pinpoint what. Sure, his clothes were way different from the ones he usually wore, but it wasn’t that… Suddenly something caught the light and sparkled. Your eyes followed like a crow the shining light until they landed on his hair.
“The hairpin!” You exclaimed out loud. “You pushed your bangs aside!”
“Took you long enough, dummy.” Said Ruggie as he lightly hit your forehead with his fingers.
“Hey!”
“It really changes my whole look, doesn’t it?” He asked teasingly.
“You look like someone else entirely…”
“Isn’t it? That’s what I thought too. Now, I look like one of those rich people. That makes me think…” He exclaimed as he began to rummage through his pockets. “Could you take a picture of me?” He asked as he held out his phone to you.
“Of course. To keep as a memory?”
“Nah. It’s for Granny to see.” He said with a soft smile. “She loves it when I show her what I do at school, so I thought I could do that to keep her happy.”
After taking some pictures and bargaining with the tailor, which Ruggie hadn’t forgotten about (and won. Since the outfit is now his, courtesy of the tailor for his birthday). The both of you headed into town. Luckily for you, the weather was wonderful: shining sun, not a cloud in sight, and a soft breeze to guide you into the little streets Foothill Town had to offer.
“What do you usually do when you’re in town?” Asked your boyfriend as you were walking together towards his destination of choice.
“Well… It depends. Sometimes I like to try out new cafes, try my luck at the arcade, or do karaoke… Sometimes I just like to walk near the docks to relax.”
“Mhm…” You pondered for a moment. “I would say… The one near the plaza, it’s really calm and cozy.”
“I see… I’ll try to gather enough money to invite you there…” He muttered.
“Did you say something?”
“No! Not at all! You must be imagining it!” He exclaimed way too quickly.
Before you got the time to find something to retort, he started dragging you by the arm. “I’ll show you some of my hidden spots… Though… I expect something in return…”
“I’ll buy you lunch.” You said, knowing what the boy was hinting at.
“And now we’re talking! Let’s go!” He exclaimed happily.
He led towards a little street perpendicular to the main one. The moment you engulfed yourself in it, lots of culinary smells hit your nostrils: fresh bread, spicy soup, sweet fruits, and so on. Not even the best market of all Twisted Wonderland could compete with this. Ruggie seemed to catch your satisfied expression since he dragged you towards the showcase of a bakery.
He looked to the left, to the right, and then whispered in your ear. “This bakery gives their leftover bread of the day for free thirty minutes before closing. But keep this to yourself. This is confidential information!” He said, motioning with his finger against his lips to stay silent.
You decided to play his game and nodded, amused by his antics. “Yes, we can’t have someone else know about this.” You whispered back.
“It’s good to talk business with people who know what they’re talking about. It’s a pleasure working with you.” He added with an amused grin, shaking your hand.
“The pleasure is mine.” You responded with the same amused expression on your face.
Ruggie showed you around the town some more, presenting various establishments and their advantages. You were impressed, to say the least. Clearly, those addresses were the products of hours of research around town at various days and hours of the week.
“And that’s all I can tell you for the price of one lunch. If you increase it to two or more, I can give you more addresses.” He said with a smirk.
“I’ll think about it.”
“Good! Now, let’s head to the sports shop!”
“The sports shop?” You asked.
“Yes. That’s the place I want to introduce for my video.”
Once you entered the store, you looked around the different sections dedicated to running, swimming, hiking, dancing, and the list goes on. You turned around to look at your boyfriend to ask him where he wanted to go... He wasn’t there. Your eyes caught his silhouette making a beeline for the Spelldrive corner. You quickly followed him as he was already setting his phone to film his video.
“Aren’t you nervous to talk in front of a camera?” You asked him, nervousness getting to you even though you weren’t the one being filmed.
“Not really. I do a lot of things for my part-time jobs, and promoting stores is one of them.” He nodded once he inspected his work. “Alright, I’m all good.”
You put yourself outside the frame and looked at him promoting the store.
“I’m at the sports shop where the Spelldrive club stocks up on all its equipment. From gears, cleaning products, and shoes to goggles. We can find everything here!” Exclaimed your boyfriend as he then proceeded to show different products, not without forgetting to name the club every once in a while.
Once he finished his little speech and put away the equipment he had showcased, he turned to you with a grin. “So, how was it? Awesome, isn’t it?”
“Yes, it was. You really know how to promote something, but…” You began unsure to keep going.
“But?”
“Why did you keep talking about the Spelldrive club even when it wasn’t necessary.”
“Oh, that. It seems like I have a true connoisseur with me. I can’t hide anything from you.” He smirked. “I already told you that I hate working for free, right?”
You nodded.
“Well, I made a deal with the manager. I promote his store by saying how the prestigious Spelldrive club of the prestigious Night Raven College came to stock up here, and in return… Shishishi…” He trailed off as his gaze went behind you.
You followed his eyes and found the manager of the store, smiling, as he handed Ruggie a huge box. “And I get this! Thank you so much, sir!” Finished the boy, beaming at the box in his arms.
“I should be the one to thank you for recommending us.” Responded the man.
“Look at that!” Exclaimed Ruggie as he tugged at your sleeve to get you to look inside the box. “Towels, maintenance and cleaning products, and even goggles! That’s what I call a win-win situation! I’m so happy!”
“Are you going to share them with the rest of the club? It seems that there’s a lot for one person.” You asked.
“Are you kidding me? They don’t work and could benefit from such a gift? Of course, I’m not sharing! Though…”
“Though?”
“I could make an exception for you…”
“For me? But I don’t even have magic!” You exclaimed, perplexed.
“And? Cleaning products can always work for other things than equipment. And towels are great for daily life too. So, here, take some.”
“I… Thank you…”
“You’re welcome. It’s not like I can offer you much more…” He muttered the last part.
“Oh, Ruggie. I don’t care about expensive gifts or even gifts at all. I love you for who you are. Not what you possess. Just being here with you is already a wonderful gift for me, and I mean it.” You said softly, kissing his cheek.
“Oh! There are so many cakes! They look sooo delicious!” Exclaimed your boyfriend excitedly once he entered Bonbon Recette as his eyes landed on his birthday table. “Everything looks sooo good. Thanks for the food!”
You didn't even have time to close the door of the establishment before his mouth was already full of cake. You laughed when his cheeks puffed, forming what you could describe as a smile. He really looked happy, and that brought a smile to your face.
“The sweetness of the strawberries and the cream is perfect!” He exclaimed, muffled by his mouth full. “And there are donuts too! This is the best!” His eyes sparkling as you never saw them.
“Happy birthday, Ruggie.” You said with a smile.
“Thanks! Birthdays truly are the best! Let’s eat all the cakes until the bakery is empty!” He exclaimed once more, already digging into the next cake.

A spoonful of sweetness - Vil edition
What if discovering Vil’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
Spring has settled in on campus. The students were seen studying or chatting in the gardens under the sun, little birds were learning how to fly, and the flowers were in bloom. It seemed like everyone was full of life once more. You were waiting near the main street, hands fidgeting with your shirt for the fifth time in a few minutes. Vil had invited you to pass his birthday with him in town, giving you a stern look, threatening you to show yourself in front of him with a single wrinkle in your outfit. That explained your current predicament: checking again and again your outfit in fear of seeing a wrinkle appearing out of nowhere.
“My, you’re here early.” A voice suddenly startled you. Your eyes widened and your back immediately straightened when you saw the person in front of you.
“V-Vil… Hi…” You said, your hands fidgeting even more than before as his expert eyes scanned your figure.
“Not bad at all.” He said with a little smile as you breathed out in relief. “It looks like you made sure to straighten your outfit properly.”
“Yeah… I did…” You chuckled nervously.
“I’m proud of you. You’re improving much faster than Epel.” He said with a smirk. “Maybe he could learn a thing or two from you.”
“Thank you?”
“You’re most welcome, my dear. Now, let’s head to that tailor. I’m curious to see what he’ll have in store.” He exclaimed with a smile, extending his hand out to you.
“Oh my, there’s quite a variety in here.” Declared your boyfriend, as he discovered the fitting rooms. “Fufu, I wonder what kind of outfit I’ll come up with.”
Almost immediately, he began to analyze each rack with his fashion expert eyes. Knowing it wasn’t your field of expertise compared to your lover, you decided to stand by and watch him. You saw his brows furrowing or raising in surprise every time a piece of clothing crossed his gaze. You caught some mutters like “This color isn’t trendy right now” or “That tailor seems to know his work quite well”.
“Say Vil, I never saw you order clothes online. Do you ever do that?” You asked to fill the silence that was slowly making you uncomfortable.
“I never order clothes online.” He explained as his eyes fell on you. “I prefer to try them on to check if the outfit reflects the vibes I’m searching for.”
You nodded and muttered a small “I see…”
“Now that you mention it, I’ve been meaning to tell you…” Vil began once more, getting your attention. “Next week, I have a day free of modeling. The photoshoot has been rescheduled, so I’m taking you out shopping.”
“Shopping? But I don’t need…”
“Yes, you do.” He cut you off, his eyebrows furrowing. “I can’t let you wander everywhere with two outfits, with one of them being your school uniform. I don’t know what Crowley's thinking, but clearly he doesn’t bother with fashion. So, I’ll take the matter into my own hands.”
“Thank you for worrying about me?”
“Don’t mention it. It’s basic necessities. One cannot grow more beautiful if they can’t find their own style. And I intend to help you find it next week.”
You just smiled at him in gratitude, not knowing what to respond. He returned your smile for a brief moment before he clapped his hands, getting your attention back to the matter at hands.
“Now that I’ve chosen my outfit, I’ll go try it out. Prepare some compliments by the time I’m back.” He said, winking at you before disappearing in the changing room.
A few moments later, your boyfriend emerged from behind the curtain in his new outfit. He smirked when he caught your eyes solely focused on him. He couldn’t help but chuckle. “Oh my, am I so beautiful that I left you speechless?”
You had nothing to say in your defense, so you just nodded as your cheeks reddened, which earned you more chuckles from the beautiful man in front of you.
“Come, let’s head into town so that everyone can see how dashing I look.” He said with a smirk.
On your way towards the place where Vil had made a reservation for the day, the two of you had talked about the most mundane things: the weather, classes, beauty, of course, and many more… That’s what you liked about your relationship with the actor. Yes, there were times when he would talk about beauty products and fashion trends, but other times, he would just listen to you talk about your favorite things and even question you to get to know better what you love.
“And here they go again…” He exhaled as he checked his phone.
You peered over his shoulder, catching his latest post on Magicam: a picture of him in his brand new outfit that he had asked you to take at the tailor shop. “What’s wrong with it?” You asked, not seeing the problem.
“It’s not in the picture, which is well done given the circumstances, if I do say so myself. It’s my fans.”
“Your fans?”
“Yes. Whenever I post a new outfit, they go all over Magicam to try and find where I got my clothes. Clearly, they don’t understand a thing about fashion. Replicating someone’s outfit… How can they even call themselves fashion lovers if the only thing they can do is copy everyone’s style but find their own?”
“I understand why you’re so annoyed now…” You said.
“Fortunately, some people don’t care about fashion trends or copying celebrities’ outfits, and that makes them much more beautiful than those potatoes.” He exclaimed with a smile, looking at you with soft eyes.
“I guess so…” You muttered, feeling butterflies from his kind words.
“That makes me think, did you apply UV protection before waiting for me?”
“I… Of course…” You chuckled nervously as he lifted his eyebrow.
“How did your skin even survive until today? Let’s start from the basics once more. So, to start your routine, you should always use…”
And here you went again.
“Are you listening? I won’t go over it again.”
“Yes!”
After what felt like an eternity, all the steps of the perfect skincare routine were anchored in your brain, and Vil looked quite happy when you were able to list the correct products. As you thought your mind would be stuck repeating “serum” and “cream” over and over again, the one who had caused all this became your savior as he announced that you had arrived at the destination.
“I made an appointment at this sports therapy clinic.” He explained as he showed you the sign of the building.
“Do you come here often?”
“I visit the same practitioner rather regularly. His techniques are just marvelous. One appointment and I feel like my body is invigorated.” He exclaimed.
“I see… It’s massages essentially, I suppose?”
“Indeed. Either way, you’ll see for yourself.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” You asked, not understanding what he’s hinting at.
“Isn’t it obvious? I made a reservation for myself but also for you.”
“For me?!” You exclaimed, surprised.
“Yes, for you. One look at you and I knew you needed a well-deserved massage for your poor back and shoulders. I can see how tense they are from over here. I’ll have a talk with the headmage once we’re back. He can’t keep overworking his student. Now, come along.” He said as he linked his arm with yours and led you inside.
“Good afternoon, mister Schoenheit.” Greeted a man once you entered the reception.
“Good afternoon. I made an appointment for two back massages.”
“Yes, indeed. You can go change clothes and wait in room 5. The practitioner will be there shortly.”
“Understood.” He nodded at the man and then looked at you. “Shall we?”
Inside the room, two robes were neatly folded on the massage beds alongside a bottle of incense spreading a relaxing smell in the room.
“So…” You began nervously. “How is a massage generally organized?”
“I beg your pardon?” Exclaimed Vil as his eyes widened. “You’re telling me you’ve never been massaged before?”
“I… No?”
“No wonder you look so tense. Your body has never relaxed since your birth. Oh, believe me, I’ll reserve more appointments in the future. Your body and mind will thank me.”
You just stood there, feeling like a child getting scolded, until you heard your lover exhale and say more softly. “I just want you to feel relaxed and comfortable. I’m truly saddened to hear no one advised you to let your body relax once in a while, but I’m here now. I’ll make sure you’re feeling at your best every moment of the day. It’s a promise.” He smiled at you and kissed your forehead.
And oh boy, was he right. You had fallen asleep in record time the moment the massage had begun. You felt like all the tension and stress accumulated from the years just left your body. As if it was waiting for such an opportunity to allow your mind to rest. You don’t remember anything else from the massage, just the sweet dreams you had. Eventually, you felt a hand gently shaking you awake.
“My dear, the massage is over. Oh my, you fell asleep.” You heard Vil’s chuckles following the sentence.
“Mhm?” You exhaled, your mind still trying to get your eyes to open.
“Fufu, it seems that I was right. You really needed this.”
“Maybe I did…” You whispered as you sat up.
“You absolutely did. Well, it wasn’t so bad now, was it?”
You shook your head.
“That’s what I thought.” He whispered as he caressed your hair.
About half an hour later, the two of you finally left the clinic. Your boyfriend encountered some difficulties to get you to wake up fully, but the promise of sweets managed to get your mind to get back to work. The sweet smell of fresh-out-of-the-oven pastries soon filled your nostrils as you got closer and closer to Bonbon Recette. As Vil opened the door and led you inside, the sight of colorful fruits soon graced your vision. From sparkling strawberries to mouth-watering melons, clearly the bakery had received a fresh batch of seasonal fruits and had put them to good use.
“It seems that they also value the importance of elegance.” Said your lover as he inspected the pastries and the decoration set up for him. “All those colorful sweets create a gorgeous setting. Not bad at all.”
“Happy birthday, Vil.” You exclaimed with a smile. “And thank you for today.”
“I should be the one thanking you. It was a lovely day. I’m glad I’ve been able to relax, but I’m also glad you were able to relax too.” He smiled at you. “You deserved it after putting up with so much these last few months. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and tense in the future, come find me. I’ll clear my schedule, and we’ll have a spa night.”
“I will.”
“Good. Though, don’t you dare forget the steps of the skincare routine I’ve explained to you.” He said sternly.
“Y-yes!” You stuttered.
He chuckled before adding. “Just kidding. Now, let’s taste those sweets. If we want a healthy body and mind, we have to eat all the nutrients we need.”
As you dug in and hummed in delight, Vil watched you with a smile. He will never admit it out loud, but seeing you smiling so brightly and shining just by being yourself, he couldn’t help but think that you were more beautiful than him.
Maybe we are more alike than we thought - Ramshackle - Heartslabyul
He always believed that the two of you were different. But something you did made him question this statement. Maybe you shared more similarities than he thought…
Savanaclaw and Octavinelle
Scarabia and Pomefiore
For Grim, it always has been how you never left him. Always next to him, talking with him, laughing with him, comforting him. Grim realized that he could lean on you. He wasn’t all alone anymore. He will never admit it, but sometimes he wonders if he could have made it this far without you. Would he have been this brave, or are you the one who gave him courage? Would he have friends, or, thanks to you, did he open up and gain friends in the process? Finally, would he feel so warm, so loved, or are your presence, your kind words, and your smiles that warm him up from the inside? Grim doesn’t know what he wants to be anymore. The greatest mage ever? A powerful king? A renowned doctor? A famous actor? He doesn’t know, but he’s sure of one thing. He wants to stay at your side forever.
Riddle caught a glimpse of you and Grim baking together. Well… until Grim put sugar everywhere and made a mess of the kitchen. Riddle felt the anger rising inside of him and was about to step in with a typical “off with your head” when he heard you laugh. Instead of yelling, like he would have done, you just laughed while shaking your head. You didn’t lecture Grim. You just asked him to call you if he needed help with anything. Then, the both of you cleaned up while telling each other jokes, the mistake long forgotten. Riddle thought about it and realized that yelling just established fear and mistrust. Grim wouldn’t have come to you if you had always yelled at him. He would have tried to cover his mistake, maybe making it even worse. Riddle now understood the need to stay calm and put others at ease. This way trust and a better relationship could be established. Maybe he and his mother were wrong in the end…
You were telling Ace how sometimes his teasing would bring you down. Trey, who had happened to hear the conversation, thought about this. You could have decided to laugh it off in front of Ace and keep everything inside, but you decided to speak out and confront him with your feelings. As he heard that, Ace apologized immediately, not knowing it was hurting you. That reminded Trey of his own struggle with Riddle. How he never said anything in fear of being yelled at or being collared. But it’s his silence that led to Riddle’s overblot, for which he feels partly responsible. If he had spoken up and shared with his childhood friend how he felt about his methods, would the overblot still have happened? That’s the question that still haunts Trey. Which is why he’s making sure it won’t happen again. He will speak up from now on.
You were walking among different stands when all of a sudden, you stopped, took out your phone, and snapped a picture. Cater caught the way you took your photo. No filters, no difficult framing, no focus. You had just taken a picture of something you liked: a wave, a flower, the sun, or a close-up of Grim’s face. That struck him. You were not taking pictures for others to like. You were taking them to remember what you liked at that time. You didn’t care about trends, hashtags, or funny filters. None of this mattered to you. For that, you were opposites. He took pictures he didn’t always love for others to like. While you took pictures for yourself to love. Seeing you like this, grinning at your imperfect photo and showing it to Grim proudly, made something switch inside him. Maybe, next time, he could try that too.
You were lecturing Grim about how he should look both ways before crossing the road after he had just escaped an accident. The look of worry was evident in your eyes as you hugged him tight and explained how dear he was to you and how you couldn’t lose him. Ace would never admit it, but your reaction reminded him of himself. He, too, cares a lot about his friends and close ones. Always hiding his concern behind teasing remarks and jokes. Though, deep inside, he is just like you right now. He worries, sometimes too much. Seeing you address Grim so honestly, not hiding behind anything, made him think that he could maybe try to tell you his worries and fears. After all, he knows you will understand and support him no matter what.
Deuce saw you helping a young mother by holding some of the grocery bags. His first instinct was to walk up to you and ask you and the mother if you needed help. But he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw you chatting happily with her. You seemed to have an enjoyable conversation. That reminded him of himself whenever he helped his mother with the same bags. He, too, would chat about everything and nothing with his mother, at least until his delinquent phase began. Once he snapped out of it, he realized how he missed this moment with her. Seeing you chat with this young woman encouraged him to help his mother even more and to not let her down a second time.

JP spoilers for the card serie “La Bonbonnière” - Sebek edition
A spoonful of sweetness - Sebek edition
What if discovering Sebek’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
Spring was almost here. The breeze became gentler, the birds were finishing the final touchups to their nests, and the first flowers were blooming. How could you not take a walk outside when the weather welcomed you with open arms? Besides, you had plans for today. It wasn’t every day that your boyfriend would take a break from his duties to hang out with you. So, you were making the most of it. It wasn’t hard to find him; with his usual straight posture and his hands behind his back, you could almost think Malleus wasn’t far, given how alert he looked. When you reached his side, you opened your mouth to greet him, but he beat you to it.
“Took you long enough, human!” He yelled.
“Hello to you too, Sebek.” You responded calmly, not surprised by his outbursts anymore.
“Hmph!” He exclaimed as he turned his head to the side.
“So…” You began innocently, noticing how his shoulders tensed up. “A little bird told me that you weren’t very comfortable speaking in front of a camera?”
“Who?” He asked firmly.
“Malleus.”
“Waka-sama?! I am unworthy of being called his retainer! I should not have any weakness!”
“Now, now, Seby. Let’s calm down, alright?”
“Seby?! What is that nickname? Is that weird human from Octavinelle influencing you?!”
Well, at least you managed to change the subject of the conversation and avoid his whole “I am not worthy of being my liege’s knight” speech. Lucky you?
After some speed walking to the tailor shop, courtesy of Sebek saying that it was a good way to strengthen his endurance, you could finally catch your breath... Or so you thought. Sebek was already inspecting every rack, muttering about formal clothes and not bringing shame on his dorm. After his eyes scanned the whole room, he nodded and exclaimed.
“It is a magnificent sight. There is quite a selection of formal clothes. The tailor has some good taste for a human!”
“You keep talking about formal clothes. Is there something you like about them?” You asked.
“Why, of course! Formal clothes are a must to wear to be worthy of standing next to my liege. I can’t allow myself to look sloppy!”
“So, I guess you’re looking for clothes of this kind then?”
“Yes! And I already found the perfect piece!” He exclaimed, holding in his hands an elegant black jacket.
“…Why not?” You said sheepishly.
“Is it not to your liking?” He inquired, his eyebrows furrowing.
“Well… I thought about… I don’t know… Maybe this jacket?” You responded, avoiding his gaze, holding a dark red one in your hands.
“Dark red?! Isn’t it too flashy?! I don’t want to stand out since I’m supposed to showcase the shop I’ll be introducing…”
You offered him your best puppy eyes. You saw how his gaze tried to avoid yours, and the moment he pressed his lips together, you knew you had won.
“I guess… The least I could do is… trying it on…” He whispered as he took the jacket from your hands, still avoiding your eyes.
He turned mechanically in the direction of the changing rooms and left with long strides. A smile grazed your lips at his antics as you caught his reddening ears. This man was weak for you, and you both knew that.
The sound of a curtain opening caught your attention as your boyfriend entered the room in his new outfit. You patted yourself on the shoulder when you saw how red suited him so wonderfully.
“It suits you.” You said with a smile.
“Hmph!” He exclaimed, still avoiding your gaze. That made you chuckle as Sebek glared at you from the corner of his eye. “For once, your advice is useful, human!”
“Did you style your hair down just for me?” You teased. To your defense, you couldn’t help it. His reactions were too amusing.
“Don’t get me wrong! If I styled my hair this way, it’s only to pay honor to the video. Nothing else!”
“Of course, of course.” You responded, not believing him for a second. “Still, I like it.”
“Let’s just get going.” He grumbled as he took your hand and led you outside.
You never went a lot in town with Sebek. Most of your dates would take place on campus, and half of them would be study dates in the library or in the quiet of Diasomnia’s lounge. So, it was a first to see him in public. To say you were surprised would be an understatement. You were expecting him to lead you in the crowd or act as your shield to protect your personal space. But it seemed that he preferred quieter parts of Foothill Town.
“This town is always so noisy.” He grumbled. “I can’t turn my head around how lively it can be at this time of the day.”
“What do you mean?” You asked, tilting your head in confusion.
“In Briar Valley, most faes wake up at sunset. To that extent, only shops near humans's residences are open during the day.” He explained, puffing his chest.
“You, too, live during the night then?”
All the way towards Sebek’s place of choice, you asked him tons of questions about the life in Briar Valley, which he answered every one of them with a proud smirk. Suddenly, he led you towards a smaller alley. You looked at him, confusion in your gaze, but he didn’t falter and carried on towards the end of the alley. Once in front of a door, he pushed it open and held out his hand, signaling you to enter. You were expecting a lot of things, but definitely not a shoe store!
“Well…” He said as his shoulders dropped. “Since my father is a dentist and… human. My family lived mainly during the day.” He whispered. “But that didn’t stop us from living during the night from time to time!”
“I never knew a shoe store was hidden here!” You exclaimed as you observed your surroundings. From sandals to sports shoes, a huge selection was waiting for you. And given the number of students browsing through the different sections, you guessed the majority of the school came here to find what to wear on their feet.
“Hmph! As expected of a human, you never look further than what is right under your nose.”
“Do you come here often?”
“Why, of course! As Malleus-sama’s retainer, I need to look proper in every aspect. From my hair to my shoes! But let’s not dwindle any further. We have a video to film!”
You nodded and took out your phone as Sebek muttered to himself a little speech a few times.
“Alright, I’m ready to go. Whenever you want, Sebek.”
“…” He breathed in and out and nodded at you. “You can start the recording.”
You pressed the starting button and gave him a thumbs up.
“Today, I would like to present this amazing shoe store… No, let’s start over again.”
You nodded and signaled to him to begin once again.
“This shoe store is a sight to behold… No, still not it.”
“This shop is truly magnificent… Argh!”
“The shoe selection is truly wonderful… Stop the recording. I need to think of a better speech!” He exclaimed.
“I thought you had prepared it.”
“Of course I did. I just want a video I’m satisfied with. It’s not at all because I’m nervous…” He mumbled the last part.
“Aw, you’re shy. You’re so cute, Seby!”
“That’s enough, human! And I already asked you to stop with that nickname!”
After what felt like an eternity, Sebek finally managed to film his introduction without fumbling or asking you to delete all failed attempts (he couldn’t risk Silver, Lilia, or, even worse, Malleus seeing him this pathetic). While he was drained after such a tedious task, you were full of energy. You just had the time of your life seeing your boyfriend, always so stoic and proud, panicking over a camera. But you weren’t that evil. You decided to drag him outside the store and lead him towards a place you knew he would love: the bookshop. Whenever you came to visit him at his dorm, he would always be reading a book.
“I guess I should once again acknowledge your useful advice. Coming to the bookstore calmed me down instantly. Well done, human.” He murmured as you entered the shop.
The moment you stepped inside, you discovered a whole new side of your boyfriend. Silently browsing through the different sections, reading with interest the summaries. He had never looked this calm and relaxed. Normally, his shoulders would always be tense, and his movements were quick and sharp, ready to slay any threat menacing his liege. While in this calm bubble, he looked at peace. Even a faint smile grazed his lips. It was in those moments that you thought how lucky you were to have such a man by your side.
“What time is it?” He asked after what felt like a few minutes.
“It’s… Oh… It’s past four in the afternoon.” You answered, surprised by your own words.
“Already?! I should really set a time limit next time. I always stay here way too long and end up buying many books.”
“But it was nice. I liked doing this. We should do that again sometime.” You said with a smile.
“I guess we could…” He responded with a shy smile.
The walk to Bonbon Recette had been calm. Your boyfriend had offered you his arm, which you gladly accepted, as the two of you enjoyed the view of the coastline. No words were exchanged; the sounds of your footsteps and the gentle breeze were saying enough. Once the bakery came into view, he opened the door for you and guided you towards the table set up for his birthday.
“Oh! It’s a strawberry cake! I guess strawberry season is officially open.” You exclaimed happily as the red gems shone in front of you.
“Let’s taste and see if they’re already sweet enough.”
The both of you lifted your forks and plopped a piece of tart in your mouth. As soon as the pastry touched your taste buds, your eyes shone brighter than the stars.
“It’s delicious!” You both exclaimed at the same time.
You looked at each other in silence for a few seconds before you burst out laughing. After the both of you calmed down, Sebek looked at you and said.
“Thank you. The film ended smoothly. I… appreciate it…” He whispered the last part.
“Happy birthday, Sebek.” You whispered in return with a smile.
How would he explain his red ears to his liege or to Lilia? He couldn’t let Silver see him in such a state. He needed to get a grip on himself! But… looking at you, he realized that those thoughts could wait.

A spoonful of sweetness - Azul edition
What if discovering Azul’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
Winter was slowly retreating to give place to spring. The snow wasn’t as thick as before; the first leaves and tiny flowers were growing. The wind had calmed down a little, though he didn’t get any warmer. Still wrapped up in your scarf, you were walking towards the Hall of Mirrors, where your boyfriend had asked you to meet up with him. It was a special day after all. Well, yes, it was Azul’s birthday, but this wasn’t what was so special about this day. He had taken the day off. When he first told the news, you thought he was joking. Azul? Taking a day off? That never happened. But it seems that even the impossible is possible, as you saw his silhouette waiting for you near the mirror leading to Octavinelle.
As he saw you approaching, your boyfriend offered you a little smile. “Good morning. I’m looking forward to passing the day with you, my pearl.”
“Good morning to you too!” You responded happily. “I’m excited to see how the video turns out.”
“Of course, I share the same feeling. This is a rare opportunity, after all.” He said with his smile, which you knew meant nothing good.
“Opportunity for?”
“To make my name and face known by everyone in town, of course!” He exclaimed as he began to chuckle, just like when he just indebted someone.
“Right…”
“Now, to business! Let’s not waste any second of this precious day!”
The walk to the tailor shop had been pleasant. Azul had explained to you every piece of information he had managed to get his hands on about the tailor and his selection of clothes. You didn’t get lost either since he had prepared the route days ago. And when you entered the shop, he made a beeline to the right section of the shop. Clearly, he had come prepared. Though, you didn’t expect less from your perfectionist boyfriend.
“So… do you have any preferences?” You asked as you looked at the various racks around you. You thought that your question was useless since Azul always knew what he was looking for…
“I’m glad you asked this question!” He exclaimed happily as his eyes scanned every piece of clothing, surely to remember the brands for future projects he had in mind. “I like to present myself as intelligent and composed, though I’m sure you’re already aware of this.”
You nodded. “I take it you’re planning to dress in this same style then?”
“Well, that’s what I thought too at the beginning.” He said as he turned to look at you. “But then, I asked myself, who is the target audience of this video?”
“The students of NRC?”
“Exactly! Which is why I need to adapt my style to theirs. This way, I’m sure to be remembered and maybe gain some potential new clients…” He said with his usual up-to-no-good smirk. “So, I’m thinking of going with a more relaxed look.”
“I see… That makes sense.”
“I’m glad you’re sharing the same opinion as me. Now then, we should decide what clothes I should wear. Time is money after all.”
“Sure…” You said as your eyes went once more over the racks.
You were completely lost. What could your boyfriend possibly like? If you showed him clothes he didn’t like, would he think that you’re wasting his time?
“My pearl.”
You snapped out of your spiraling thoughts to see Azul standing a few steps in front of you. You offered him a sheepish smile, and he sighed.
“You’re aware I can practically hear your thoughts from here, right?” He asked as he approached you.
“I… um… it’s nothing. Just thinking about other stuff, that’s all. You shouldn’t worry about me.” You said quickly, too quickly.
“My pearl, you know that I don’t consider you a waste of my time. I hope you’re aware of this.” He said softly as his blue eyes locked with yours. “By all means, show me clothes you like, share with me your thoughts, and, most importantly, be yourself with me.”
“Azul…” You whispered, surprised to hear him say this.
“I know, I’m not the best person to talk about accepting themselves, but… When you lent me your hand and heart, I realized how good it felt to be able to be… well, me. It’s only fair I offer you the same support you gave me. So, please, my pearl, don’t doubt yourself this way.” He said softly as his hand found yours.
You nodded shyly and squeezed his hand, a silent signal to say you’ll try your best. At your gesture, a sigh of relief escaped his lips as he smiled.
“Don’t forget about that… ever.” He whispered.
After you both shared your insights on what clothes and combinations would look best on him, Azul had changed into his birthday outfit and had offered to head into town. All the way towards the place he wanted to introduce, you couldn’t help but steal glances at his form at your side. The turtleneck, the necklaces, the jacket with its gold embroidery... Everything looked perfect on him. Though, if you were honest, his glasses were the best part. It seems that your not-so-discreet glances caught the attention of your boyfriend.
“My, my. Do I look that dashing to get your attention solely on me?” He teased as a smirk took its place on his lips.
“Azul!” You exclaimed, feeling your cheeks getting warmer.
“What seems to be the problem? I’m merely stating facts here.”
“It’s… ugh! You’re infuriating!”
“And completely dashing, I know.”
“Just how many pairs of glasses do you even own?” You asked, trying to escape his teasing.
“Well, I have quite a collection.” He answered. Yes, your plan had worked! “I like to change them according to the situation. Since it’s a more relaxed task, I think these squared pairs fit perfectly.”
“They look good on you…” You said out loud without realizing. When the words registered, your hands immediately went over your mouth. You had just dug your own grave.
“My, my. I’m glad to hear that.” He answered with a teasing smirk.
As you hid your face in your hands, his chuckles amplified. You began to quickly walk to the plaza, attempting to leave his endless smirks behind. Soon enough, you felt his hand on your back as he whispered softly in your ear.
“Thank you for saying such nice things about me, my pearl. That makes me happy.”
As a little smile took its place on your face, you felt a soft peck on your cheek. When you turned around to look at your boyfriend, it was his cheeks that were on fire this time. You couldn’t help but chuckle at his expression.
“Cease this, this instant! If I stopped teasing you, it’s only fair you stop teasing me too!” He exclaimed.
Once the both of you had signed a no-teasing contract for the day, you finally reached your destination. On the plaza of Foothill Town stood the little town hall. You were expecting something bigger and taller, but Azul had explained that there were not many residents on Sage’s Island, which meant fewer archives and offices needed. Your boyfriend then took out of his pocket a list and went through every aspect of the video: his script, the lighting methods, the best scenery to film. He kept surprising you. It seems that nothing could take him by surprise.
“Alright, I think that was all.” He said as he tucked his list in his pocket once more. “Well, I’m ready to film the introduction. Whenever you want, my pearl.”
You nodded and started recording on your phone.
“I’m Azul Ashengrotto, serving as the dorm leader of Octavinelle dorm. I do hope you’ll remember me.” He began as a spotlight illuminated his figure.
Just when did he install this? You hadn’t seen him do that… Well, it wasn’t surprising coming from him. It was common to see him under a spotlight whenever he organized a staff meeting for the Mostro Lounge, but still… Did he have a portable spotlight? Though, the answer to your question will forever remain unknown.
“Well, what do you think about my introduction?” His voice snapped you out of your trance once he had finished.
“It was good. I think people definitely know who you are now… If they didn’t know already.”
“Perfect, that’s what I wanted to hear! I need to keep the business running after all. I can’t allow myself to not help some poor, unfortunate souls in need.” He said with his usual smirk. “You better not have recorded that.” He said, more sternly.
“I didn’t.”
“Good. Now let’s head inside.” He said, all smiley once more.
The lobby was bustling as ever with life. Residents waiting their turn, others chatting with the employees at the different desks. But what caught your attention were the walls covered in bulletin boards. It seems that it was what Azul was expecting since he guided you to take a closer look at them.
“Oh look! There’s a cat you can adopt!” You exclaimed as you pointed at a poster.
“Indeed. And there’s a police report on this one.” Your boyfriend responded.
“What does a police report have to do on a bulletin board?” You asked, looking at him for an answer.
His smile grew as he began to explain. Clearly, you had asked what he had been waiting for. “Well, you see. It’s a way for the police to communicate with the residents and build trust between them and the people of Sage’s Island.” He exclaimed proudly.
“I never thought this far!” Exclaimed a man behind you two. “It’s incredible to read into people’s emotions this way, young man!”
“I’m glad to have enlightened you, sir!” Exclaimed your boyfriend in return. “If you wish to learn more, feel free to contact me. I will handle everything!”
“My, what a wonderful, young man! I’m glad to have met someone as benevolent as you! I will think about this!” Said the man as he left the lobby.
“Though I expect an appropriate compensation… of course.” Whispered Azul once the man had disappeared from view.
He, then, turned around to look at you, at which you rolled your eyes.
“I hope you recorded that just now.” He asked you, fear in his eyes.
“Of course, I did.”
A sigh of relief escaped his lips. “I’m glad. I have to include this moment in the video. Receiving such praise from a resident can only but bring me more clients. Oh, I can’t wait.” He said as he rubbed his hands together.
You just rolled your eyes once more and chuckled at your boyfriend’s antics. You knew one or two persons that would soon be indebted to him.
“Though, don’t worry, my pearl. You can ask me anything. There’s no compensation needed for you.” He whispered softly.
Once the two of you had finished visiting the town hall, it was time to head to Bonbon Recette. When you entered the building, Azul’s eyes immediately fell on the table set for him. You saw how his gaze grew concentrated as he examined the cutlery, the cups, the plates, as well as the setup. Then, out of nowhere, he took out his phone and snapped a few pictures of the table. When he turned back to look at you, he was met with a raised eyebrow.
“I never took you for the Magicam type of guy.” You said.
“It’s called market research.” He said matter-of-factly. “If I can snatch the references of their products, I can go examine them further and maybe introduce them in the Lounge.”
“Azul.” You said sternly.
“What is it?”
“You can never stop working, can you?” You asked with a smile.
“Well, you can call this working, but it’s essentially a hobby of mine.”
You just shook your head in amusement and said softly. “Happy birthday, Azul.”
“Thank you kindly, my pearl.”
“So… about taking the rest of the day off…” You attempted.
“Maybe I could do that.” He smiled.
For once, Azul didn’t feel like the little octopus that had to prove himself. For once, he felt like he could just… be himself. And that suited him.
When a young Silver discovers that he isn’t blood-related to his father, Lilia, he runs away. Not believing to be worthy of his love. As the little boy gets lost in the forest, he makes an encounter that will help him realize that nothing will change his father’s love for him.
Because love is not always romantic. It can also be platonic. So today, let’s not forget about our loved ones' love too.
A young boy with silver strands was running into the woods. Neither the storm nor his father's voice could make him turn back towards his home. He ran deeper and deeper into the woods. His tears mixing with the water droplets. He never looked around him, keeping his eyes almost shut and his head low, just letting his feet carry him far away from his home. How could this be? He thought he was his father's true son. But no… they’re different. He’s just a human and the man he dared call father was a fae. They couldn’t live together. No. It was impossible.
How could he have been so blind? Their ears are different. Their eyes are different. Their teeth are different. He’s a human and his father a fae; they are different. Everything is different! How could his father have taken in such a person like him? How could he love him?
His thoughts stopped when the young boy felt pain. As his eyes finally opened and his vision adjusted to the blurriness, he realized he had fallen on the floor. His palms and knees covered in mud. The young boy curled up on himself and began crying once again. Night had fallen, the storm continued to roam, no hint of light could reach him. It was just the darkness, him and his little heart, who couldn’t help but make him suffer. Why did he feel like he wasn’t worthy of his father’s love? Why, little heart? Why had you decided to think that?
The young boy jolted when he felt a flicker of warmth creeping up his leg. His eyes opened wide, his hand going to his little sword… which wasn’t there. Until his gaze fell upon two little rabbits cuddled against his leg, almost as if they could have sensed the young boy’s distress. It seemed that this act of kindness was welcomed by the boy who softly pet them.
She was wandering the woods as usual. Whenever she stepped on flowers and grass took on life once again. Blooming and growing. Her hands healed trees and animals with delicate attention. Her wings of golden light illuminated the surrounding area, transforming the cold and imposing forest to a place full of warmth. It seemed that even the storm raging outside calmed down whenever she stepped. Her presence calming the nature. Giving it time to breathe. No one had saw her before. Some called her a legend, others just the soul of nature. All they knew is that whenever she was near, even the most tired heart could heal.
A warm and soft light in the distance caught the attention of the young boy, still crying on the floor with the bunnies around him. His first instinct was to run away, but seeing that the rabbits neither moved nor looked frightened, he decided to stay. From whom was this light coming? Why did he feel calmer and warmer? A silhouette basked in gold appeared from behind a tree. The young boy tensed up and curled more on himself. He expected it to turn around and look at him, but it never did. Its presence just healed nearby flowers and trees. No threats, just light and warmth. When he caught a glimpse of the golden wings resting behind its back, his eyes widened. She was the forest fairy guardian his father had told him about! It seemed that the woman had been waiting for him to recognize her before turning around and looking at him. She offered him a smile and asked him a question in a voice as calm as the breeze in spring.
“Greetings. What is your name, little one?”
“Sil-“ The young boy began before he abruptly stopped himself. No. He couldn’t use that name anymore. His father had given it to him, but how could he use it since he wasn’t his father’s true son? His eyes became glossy once again at the thought. And the tears began to fall once again.
The fairy didn’t push the young boy. Instead, she stayed silent and invoked fireflies that danced around them. The forest didn’t look as cold and lonely as before. No. It looked calm and at peace. It seemed that the storm had calmed down. The rain had stopped; the trees weren’t shaking anymore. The birds were chirping and bringing the little boy berries. The bunnies also cuddled more closely to his little body. And suddenly, the world didn’t feel as heavy as before.
A rabbit, snuggling even closer seeking warmth and comfort, hit a ticklish spot that made the boy chuckle as he hugged it closer to him. This time, his smile stayed on, and his eyes looked calmer. As if the storm in his heart had calmed down too. He looked up and saw the fairy still near. Her presence not imposing. She was just… existing.
“Thank you, Miss Fairy. And… I’m Sil… I’m Silver.” Said the boy as he rubbed the last tears away.
“You are most welcome, Silver. It seems that the storm in your heart has passed.” She responded with a smile.
“The storm in… my heart?” He asked with curiosity.
“Indeed. You decided to embrace the name your father gave you.” She answered calmly.
“How did you know it was my father who named me?”
She just smiled in response and said. “Fairies like me have special powers. I think you already saw some of them in action.”
The young boy nodded in response, thinking about the flowers and trees healed or the way the bunnies weren’t afraid of her. “You are this forest’s soul. You can hear everything happening in the forest. That’s why you know that, Miss Fairy.”
“Indeed. It seems that your father told you a lot about us, guardians.” She responded as she gestured towards the fireflies. “Come, the fireflies will lead you towards what your heart desires.”
Silver tilted his head in confusion until he realized that the fireflies were forming a path for them to follow. Illuminating the way in a golden light, similar to the one of her wings. As the fairy began to walk, he ran up to her, not wanting to get lost again, and fell in step beside her. As the large and imposing conifers slowly transformed into glades and bushes, he stayed silent and continued to follow the fireflies until she spoke once again.
“Love isn’t always found in blood.” She said softly. “Your father, Lilia, loves you as his own. He would do everything for you.”
“B-but we are so different…” Whispered Silver.
“I don’t think it’s the case. The both of you are kind, patient, loving, attentive.” She listed as if it was the most obvious thing to see.
The young boy’s eyes widened in shock. He and his father alike? Even if he is a human and he is a fae? Even if their ears are different? Even if their eyes are different? Even if he’s kind and loving and he’s… Wait, he’s also kind and loving. And he’s patient and … So is he. And he’s doing everything for his happiness and… He does the same for his father’s. Maybe the fairy was right… Maybe he’s worthy of his father’s love…
“Lilia must be worried right now, looking everywhere for you…”
His eyes widened once more. He just wanted his father to be happy, not worried.
“The forest is always happy around your cottage.” She continued as if she was not sensing the swirl of thoughts going through his little head. “There are always laughs and wonderful memories forged every day… Like a true family.”
“How do you know about us? How can you be so sure that we are… happy?” Asked the young boy.
“I am this forest’s soul. I can feel whenever the forest is calm or angry, happy or sad. I can tell you that around your cottage, it’s always warm and happy.” She slowed down her steps and turned back to look at him with a smile. “Lilia cherishes you very much, Silver. It doesn’t matter to him if you’re blood-related or not. Since he accepted you and loved you as his own since the day he found you.”
The little boy was about to respond when they arrived in a familiar glade. His eyes widened when he recognized the gentle stream and water wheel, the large tree and the thatched roof. But most importantly, the sight of his father drenched, surely after searching for him all night long in the storm, sitting on the porch, his head low. Silver just felt his heart be engulfed in warmth and love as new tears formed in his eyes, this time not in sadness and despair but rather in happiness and relief. He bolted across the glade, running straight to his father’s arms as he yelled. “Father! Father!”
Lilia perked up at the sound of his son’s voice and growing footsteps. When he saw his son, his Silver, safe and sound, running towards him, he opened his arms and engulfed him in his arms. Their little family was finally reunited in a show of tears and smiles. Lilia began to tickle the boy in his arms as Silver giggled.
“You have no idea how worried I was!” Exclaimed Lilia as he kissed his son’s forehead. “I know humans grow quickly, but I’m not ready to have you move out yet.”
“I’m sorry, Father! I’m so sorry!” Cried out the little boy as he hugged his father tighter. “No matter what, you’re still my father. You will always be. I love you.”
“I love you too, Silver. Blood-related or not, you will always be my wonderful son, and nothing will make me think otherwise.” Whispered Lilia.
The father and son stayed like this for a long moment. Just embracing each other as the first rays of sunlight began to peer through the trees. They now knew that what they have is stronger than any storm that may occur. As long as they had each other, everything was surmountable.
The forest guardian stayed at the edge of the glade, softly smiling at the sight in front of her: a reunion and the creation of a bond stronger than blood. The forest was happy once more; she could feel it.
As Silver fell asleep in his father’s arms, Lilia picked him up and headed back inside the cottage. As he was about to enter, he looked back and saw the fairy at the edge of the glade. Words didn’t need to be exchanged. Lilia knew it was her who helped his son come back to him safe and sound. He knew it was her that allowed them to leave this storm behind them. So, Lilia just smiled at the guardian and mouthed a thank-you.
As the front door of the cottage closed, the fairy didn’t miss the acorn bracelet hanging around Lilia’s wrist. A bracelet made with love from the little one he never ceased to call his son.

A spoonful of sweetness – Cater edition
What if discovering Cater’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
Illuminations, snowy sceneries, hot beverages, and selfies had invaded Cater’s Magicam. Winter had always been a picture-worthy season, according to him. He hated staying cooped up in his or your room during the cold times since so many picture-worthy moments were just waiting to be captured behind the door. As you heard a knock, you knew that your boyfriend would take you out once again. Your phone went to your pocket as you put on your jacket and headed to the entrance. As you opened it, your boyfriend’s smile greeted you.
“Hey! You’re looking totes absorb! As always!” Cater said with his usual grin and wink. As your cheeks reddened under his compliment, he chuckled. “I’m happy to see that my compliments still work after so many months.”
“So…” You began, attempting to get his attention on something else than your red cheeks. “Where are you planning to go?”
“Well, I’m planning to go to…” He began, purposely letting the suspense expand. Then, he chuckled once more as he saw your face radiating of curiosity. “As if I would spoil the surprise. You’ll see once we get to town!”
“You’re no fun.” You pouted.
“Haha. You’ll still be my assistant; isn’t that great news? Helping me choose an outfit, filming a video. Oh, I can’t wait to see how it’ll turn out!”
“It’s true that this project is right up your alley. Lucky you.”
“For sure! If you have any questions about picture-worthy spots or photography techniques, feel free to ask Cay-kun!” He exclaimed as he winked.
The walk to the tailor shop had been longer than what you had anticipated. Cater had stopped at almost every step to take a picture to post on his Magicam. All you remember is hearing some “So maggicable!” or “It’s super cute!” After what felt like hours, the tailor shop came into view, but not without a selfie taken in front of the building.
“Woaw…” Exclaimed Cater in awe as he entered the storage room. “There are so many cute clothes here!”
You didn’t have time to blink before you saw him going from one corner of the room to the other, snapping pictures of the various racks of clothes, all giddily.
“So…” You began as he seemed to have finished taking his photos. “Do you have preferences in terms of clothes? That could help us decide your outfit for today.”
“Well, I don’t really have specific preferences. As long as it suits me, it’s good. Though, I get more likes when I incorporate the current trends and maintain my casual and effortless look. That makes me think, I always run into Acey whenever I go to a clothes shop. Well, I can’t blame him! Casual and effortless are top-tier choices!” He exclaimed as his eyes scanned every rack.
“Casual and effortless…” You pondered.
“Ah! Like this, for example!” He exclaimed as he held in his hands a formal jacket and a hoodie. “That combination is fire! Alright, it’s decided! I’ll go with this look today.”
“Then, what about…” You began as you looked at the various jackets on the racks. “This simple one or the one with the pattern?” You asked as you held two jackets in front of him.
“Which one would suit me better?” He asked as he winked at you.
“Well, the simple one will give you a more mature look…” You admitted.
“I get it.” He responded as he smirked at you. “You like to see a more mature Cay-Cay once in a while… We can work with that.” He said as he headed towards the changing room with his smirk still plastered on his face.
You took this moment of peace to get a grip on yourself and calm your reddening cheeks. It was really infuriating. It was almost as if he could read your mind and know exactly what to say to make you blush. Or maybe you just couldn’t hide your affection for him, and your face said it all. Who knows? Either way, he will never tell you which one it is.
The sound of the curtain opening broke you from your thoughts as your boyfriend emerged from the changing room in his brand-new outfit. For a moment, you didn’t recognize him. It wasn’t often that Cater would wear dark colors without a hint of playful color. Or that he would tie his hair in anything other than his usual pompadour. You were left speechless.
“I think we chose pretty well!” He exclaimed, amused by your silence. “As expected of you, you know what you’re talking about! We should head into town now. But first…” He took out his phone, posed, and took a selfie of himself.
“You know…” He began, quietly, as he calmed down and just walked with you. “I’ve always thought that this island had no place to hang out. It’s true. No big brand shops, no mall, just local shops or the market.”
You caught his finger going to his gallery on his phone. He opened a file with pictures of more warm and neutral colors than the usual pop colors he likes to post. A little smile took its place on his lips, though it wasn’t the one for Magicam. No. It was the one you caught a glimpse of when you had Cater and not Cay-Cay in front of you.
“Maybe I began to see a new side of the town since I’ve been living here for three years now… Maybe that’s what others call being a local… Enjoying what people passing by would never see.” He continued as his hand tightened unconsciously around yours.
“Tell me your favorite place next time. There might be hidden gems. We’ll go there together, just us. No Magicam, promise.” He softly said as he put his forehead against yours and kissed it gently.
You were walking hand in hand when suddenly the smell of hot cocoa and coffee hit your nose. You turned your head to look at Cater as his head did the same thing. You looked at each other in silence and then burst out laughing from your reaction.
“Seems like the smell got us both.” He commented, chuckling.
“We are just suckers for coffee shop dates, aren’t we?”
“Didn’t we come here before? It seems really familiar…” you pondered as you managed to catch a glimpse at the shop’s interior.
“Oh, oh, I didn’t think you would remember this one compared to the more grandiose ones we visited. But, yes, we came here before.” He explained. “It’s also the place I want to introduce for my video.”
“Yup, I did!” He exclaimed with a proud grin. “Actually, I got it when we visited it last time.”
“When we visited it…” You repeated aloud. “When did you… Oh, when you went to the counter to pay. I knew you were taking way too long to pay! That’s what you were doing! You're sneaky.”
He just flashed you a grin as he gestured towards the door. “Should we head inside to get ourselves warmed up with a warm drink?”
“We should begin to prepare the materials to film the video.” Explained your boyfriend, as he set his tripod and adjusted his ring light.
“Just when did you set this up?” You questioned, surprised.
“When you were distracted, admiring the interior, sweetheart.” He sing-songed, winking at you.
“I… I wasn’t distracted in the first place.” You pouted.
“Alright, that should be it.” Mumbled Cater to himself as he checked everything. “By the way, before filming, could I ask you to help me decide which angle is the best to capture the drinks?”
“When did you get the drinks…” you began, but as you saw his grin widening once more, you changed your phrasing. “Never mind, I know the answer.” He chuckled at you dropping the subject. “Though… why should we take pictures of the drinks? Isn’t the project a video?”
“Isn’t it?! I’m super excited to post them!”
As Cater was finishing setting everything up, from the lighting to the camera, you took some pictures of the warm drinks from different angles, trying to find the best one. You couldn’t let him down, not after the important task he assigned to you. His Magicam was depending on these! Or maybe you were just letting his excitement get the better of you.
“Here, I took the photos.” You approached him with your gallery open for him to see.
“Woah!” He exclaimed all of a sudden, startling you in the process. “You caught the steam perfectly. The lighting is great, and the composition is totes absorb!”
“I’m happy they satisfy you.”
“Satisfy me? They’re perfect! You’re, like, the best assistant ever!”
“I’m glad to hear it. I suppose what’s left now is the filming?” You asked.
“Yup! And I know just what to say to promote this place. Just you wait.” He explained as he winked at you.
“Oh, my. A compliment! Stop it, you’ll make me blush! Just kidding! I’m glad you think so! Could I see the video?” He asked as he peered at the camera’s screen over your shoulder.
You nodded and played the video. When it ended, Cater was unusually silent.
“Cater, is something the matter?” You asked, worried. He was never silent in public; you knew it. He didn’t like to drop his mask.
“Woah…” He murmured so low, you almost didn’t catch it.
“Woah?” You repeated, perplexed.
“This angle makes me look twice as attractive!” He suddenly exclaimed, all smiles. “I thought I knew my best angles, but it seems I was wrong. My eyelashes look so long… Good job, cutie! I’m lucky to have such a dedicated fan!” He whispered the last part as he softly kissed your cheek as thanks.
When you completed the filming, the both of you took your sweet time and savored your beverages, warming you up from the inside. You discussed everything and nothing until it was time to head to the bakery and discover what chocolates the staff had prepared for your boyfriend.
“It’s totes absorb!” Cater exclaimed as he entered Bonbon Recette and caught a glimpse of the table full of sweets and pastries set up for him. He quickly snapped a few pictures and posted them before looking back at you with a sheepish smile. “You’ll eat the sweets in my place, right?”
“Of course I will. Don’t worry about that.” You reassured him as his shoulders slouched in relief. “I wouldn’t make my boyfriend eat what he hates most on his birthday.”
“And I’m lucky to have you. Very lucky.” He murmured with a smile.
You smiled back at him and took one chocolate from the selection offered. As you put it in your mouth, bitterness and tartness engulfed all your senses.
Cater, seeing your eyes widening, began to ask. “Did you like…”
“Cater, you need to taste them.” You blurted out.
“But…”
“You barely taste the sweetness. I promise you.”
Your boyfriend believed you and plopped one in his mouth. As his eyes closed, ready to be told it was all a prank, his eyes opened right away as the bitterness reached his taste buds. “You’re… right. Woah!” He exclaimed, taking another one. “I could eat them non-stop! The cacao is super bitter! I love it!”
The both of you ate the whole plate of chocolates with eagerness in mere minutes. It was just too good.
“Happy birthday, Cater.” You murmured as you looked at him, savoring a sweet for once in his life.
“Thank you!” He responded with a huge smile. “It was totally fun to spend my birthday with you! I’m sure this year is going to be a happy one!”
He approached you and put his arm around your shoulders as he held his phone in front of you. He quickly kissed your cheek. Though some chocolate scrubs were around your lips and the lighting wasn’t that great, it was a picture worth cherishing.
#iloveyou #imluckytohaveyou and posted… Of course not, he will never post this one. It was for his eyes only.

A spoonful of sweetness - Malleus edition
What if discovering Malleus’ favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
It was cold outside. The snow covered pathways and roofs, giving Night Raven College an enchanting look. You had taken your scarf and gloves out before heading out to find your boyfriend. You didn’t have to look very far since you spotted his form observing the gargoyles perched on Ramshackle's roof. It seems that he felt your presence. He turned around and offered you a little smile.
“Greetings, child of man.”
“Good morning to you too, Tsunotarou.” You responded with a smile of your own.
“Always sticking to that nickname, I see.” He chuckled. “You truly have no fear.”
“You were observing the gargoyles, I suppose?” You asked, raising your head to look at the statues on your roof.
“Indeed,” He said, also raising his head to look at them. “Gargoyle viewing has a special charm in winter. Seeing them covered in snow makes them atmospheric… as much as I would like to continue to gaze at them, we have other matters at hand.”
“You’re right. We should head into town already.”
“I shall leave the video recording to you then.” He said with a smile. “The people of Foothill Town have extended an invitation to me. I cannot refuse.” He said sternly. Seems like he was taking this video project to heart.
“I’m sure you’ll do well, Tsunotarou.”
“I share the same sentiment… I’ve done thorough research after all.” He exclaimed with a proud expression.
“What can you even research?” You thought to yourself. “I’m sure it will come in handy.” You decided to respond with a little smile.
Malleus had insisted on teleporting you directly inside the tailor shop. After some points were exchanged, you decided to go by foot. You preferred it that way; who knows if you won’t feel sick after being transported? Besides, you had told him that if he wanted to get to learn about humans, he had to act like one. Which means going by foot and admiring the scenery at the same time. When you finally entered the shop, your noses and cheeks were red from the cold, but the warmth of the shop quickly made you forget the temperature.
“I was told that wearing a jacket and a t-shirt would suffice to go into town.” Your boyfriend explained.
You looked at him with a curious expression. Had the Malleus Draconia already worn a t-shirt? That seemed very surprising.
“What is that surprised expression?” He asked, raising his eyebrows. “Yes, I’ve worn a t-shirt before.”
“It’s Lilia for sure who made him wear one.” You thought to yourself.
“Lilia bought them as souvenirs from his travels.” He further explained.
“Bingo!” You said in your head. “Do you like wearing them?” You asked, curiosity getting the better of you.
“It’s quite convenient but, according to the Diasomnia students, it’s quite a spectacular sight to see me dressed so casually. Now, I’m wondering what you think would fit me since it’s so unusual for you?” He asked with a smirk.
“I would see you in a jacket in cool colors. Like…” You said as you eyed the different racks. “This one!” You exclaimed, holding in your hands a dark brown jacket.
“Let’s try it on then.” He said as he took the jacket from your hands.
After a few moments, Malleus emerged from the changing room in his new outfit. He posed with his hands on his hips and looked at you with a smirk.
“Well, how do I look?”
Your mind stopped working. It looked wonderful on him. From the jacket and turtleneck to his bangs being combed and braided to the side. He is already a prince, but, right now, he looked straight out of one of your fantasy novels. His laugh made you come back to reality.
“Fufu, I am glad to see such a positive reaction from you.” He said with a smile. “I must say that I was a little perplexed at your advice to add a chocolate brooch. I thought it would be cute and not go well with the outfit. I was proven wrong. It completes very well the look. Thank you, child of man.”
He extended his hand to you and asked. “Should we head into town?”
You nodded and took his hand in yours. You started walking when he bent down and told you. “See? I listened to what you told me about humans’ relationships.”
You chuckled and then looked at your interlinked hands. “You’re a fast learner, Mal.”
He smiled proudly and headed out of the shop. His arm unconsciously rocking your hands.
Once in town, you couldn’t help but stare at Malleus every once in a while. It was so unusual for you to go out like this. Normally, you would go gargoyle viewing or talk in the Ramshackle lounge. Now that you think about it, you could count on one hand the number of times you and he went into town together.
“You’re staring intently. Is it so unusual for you to see me walk in town?” He asked.
“Well…” You didn’t finish your sentence and just nodded with a sheepish smile.
“I do visit it once in a while to learn about human civilization.” He explained. “Though, now that I think about it, Lilia is often the one who brings me with him.”
“What do you usually do with him?” You asked, wondering what genius ideas Lilia had.
“Once, we went to a bakery to try a popular bread among students. We waited a few hours in line to get one. Others began to recognize who I am and began to offer to give it to me.” A smirk and a proud expression took their place on his face as he exclaimed. “Fufu, I stayed in line. I do possess common knowledge about everyday life, after all. Cutting line is prohibited.” He stated.
“Malleus is very proud of himself for knowing such a mundane thing.” You thought to yourself. But if your dragon is happy, then so are you. “That’s great, Malleus! You’ll know everything in no time!” You exclaimed, deciding to encourage him.
“Thank you for your kind words, child of man.” He said with a smile.
“By the way, where are we going?” You asked.
“To the game center.” He said matter-of-factly. “Lilia told me that it’s a fitting place for young people.”
Your mind didn’t register the second part of his sentence. Had you heard him right? The game center? You had expected to visit some ruins full of gargoyles or an old library. Not the game center.
“Don’t worry, I researched the subject thoroughly.” He said after your silence.
You just nodded, not knowing if that should calm you down or scare you.
After some more walking, you arrived at the game center, full of neon signs and bright colors. Lots of students were gathered around different games and machines, laughing, cheering, and talking. Seeing Malleus in such a place was a rare sight. His eyes were wandering from machine to machine, looking at the bright screens with lots of colorful advertising.
“We should start filming.” He said after a moment, turning around to face you.
You nodded and took out your phone. Once you were ready, you gave him another nod.
“This is the game center. It’s quite… noisy.” He said with a light frown.
“Malleus.” You chuckled softly as his eyes locked on yours. “We’re filming. As much as I love to hear your honest thoughts, we’re still supposed to promote this place.”
“That’s right, my apologies.” He exclaimed as he cleared his throat. “It is a lively place full of machines I have never seen…”
After you finished filming the introduction, you made your way into the room. Malleus eyed once again the machines with a frown on his face.
“Are you… looking for something?” You asked him.
“Indeed. I have read that “crane games” are recommended for beginners in the matter. However… I am wondering which one is a “crane game”. They look all the same to me…”
“Crane games are those that have a claw and lots of prizes. Every machine is a crane game in this room.” You explained.
“Is it?” He questioned, widening his eyes and looking once again all over the room.
“Yes. You choose your machine based on the prize you want.”
“It seems that I didn’t research this subject enough. I am glad to have you here. Your knowledge is precious.” He said with a little smile. “Now then, I think I’ll aim for this dragon plushie.” He exclaimed as he made his way towards a machine with an excited gleam in his eyes.
He observed the machine in silence for a moment until a little “ah” escaped his lips as he put the money inside the game. Bright lights lit up, and a little music began as soon as his three turns began.
“Now… How do I operate this claw thing?” He asked, more to himself than you. “Those glowing arrows, perhaps?” He said as he pushed on the buttons.
The claw began to move, but soon a creaking sound could be heard.
“Malleus!” You exclaimed. “Relax your strength or the machine will break.”
“Ah!” He exclaimed in surprise, retracting his hand as if he had been burned. “My apologies.” He said, embarrassed.
“It’s alright, Tsunotarou.” You said with a smile, attempting to calm him down.
“Understood. Relax your strength, relax your strength.” He murmured to himself as he tried to push on the buttons once again.
This time, the claw moved but without creaking. You both breathed out in relief. As your dragon positioned the claw above the plushie, a concentrated expression took its place on his face.
“I’ll have it. I’m sure.” He assured as he let go of the button.
“You can do it!” You cheered.
The claw gripped the plush head, and… it fell back in its previous position.
“I gripped the head, and it won’t lift. This machine is broken!” Exclaimed your boyfriend, pouting. “Let’s try again! I can’t allow myself to retreat here!”
After strategizing the perfect plan to get this dragon plushie, Malleus tried once again. And again… and again. The both of you were glued to the machine’s window, eyes staring at the claw and plush. Until, he finally managed to get the plushie to fall. A winning sound reached your ears as your boyfriend hurried to free his little dragon from the machine. He took it in his hands as he gazed at it with a proud expression.
“What a sense of accomplishment and… exhaustion.” He breathed out. “The game center is not to be underestimated. I understand now why students gather here.”
“In the end, you managed to get your plush. It’s quite cute too. Its face is adorable.” You exclaimed as you watched the little dragon in your boyfriend’s hands.
“It is, indeed.” He said with a smile of his own, proud of himself.
You decided to not challenge further machines, too worn out from getting the dragon plush. You both thought it would be a good idea to head to Bonbon Recette to try the sweets they prepared for your boyfriend’s birthday. As you entered the bakery, all the noise from the game center and the town disappeared, leaving only a calm atmosphere accompanied by the scent of warm pastries.
“It’s calm in here. Nothing like the game center.” Said Malleus as he seemed to relax. “I am really not used to such noise.”
“Congratulations on getting the plushie.” You said, looking at the plush firmly tucked under his arm.
“Thank you, child of man.”
As you were about to respond, the baker emerged from the kitchen and put on the table the chocolates made for Malleus. You both looked at the chocolates, then at each other with the same excited gleam in your eyes. You took your place at the table (not without forgetting to put the plush on a chair of its own) and tasted the chocolates. Both of your eyes widened in delight.
“It’s delicious!” You exclaimed.
“It seems to have fruit juice inside. It’s a well-balanced flavor between sweetness and tartness.” He stated.
“Happy birthday, Tsunotarou.” You said softly.
“I am grateful for your presence by my side. I spend a meaningful time and took on a new challenge.” He said with a smile.
You both looked at each other in silence, just basking in each other's presence as you ate the chocolates to your hearts’ content.
“Speaking of challenges…” Began Malleus.
You tilted your head. “Yes?”
“I will have to edit the introduction video. Could you show me the footage?” He asked.
“I already sent it to your phone.” You explained.

A spoonful of sweetness - Lilia edition
What if discovering Lilia’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
What a perfect day to start the new year. The sun was shining and warming up the cold hands. The sky was of pure blue with no clouds in sight. And you were walking hand in hand with the birthday boy towards Foothill Town. Lilia wanted to show you his favorite place in town for the video, of course, but also to pass some time with you. Even though the two of you didn’t get much sleep with the New Year party you had organized with his family, you were happy to pass some quality time together.
“We’ll have to find the perfect coordination to bring out my charms.” Said your boyfriend with his signature smirk. “Though, I’m sure that with you as my assistant, it’s guaranteed to be fun.” He exclaimed with a happy smile on his lips.
“I’m sure it will. Even though any style suits you.” You responded with a smile of your own.
“Oh? Was this a hidden compliment?” He teased with his smirk back on.
“What if it was?” You asked with a smirk of your own.
“Then, I can’t wait to see what clothes you’ll pick for me.” He exclaimed happily, picking up the pace towards the town.
Once you arrived at the tailor shop, both of your eyes widened at the sight of the dozens and dozens of clothes racks. From frills and glitter to leather and suede. Every combination was possible. You just needed imagination. Though, with your boyfriend, it is not imagination that lacked.
“Oh!” He said as he flicked through the racks. “Such stylish clothes. There are so many to choose from… I can’t decide which one I want to go with…”
You opened your mouth to point out an outfit to him, but he cut you off. “Though, everything will suit me. I am the renowned fashionista whose fame echoes throughout the whole neighborhood!” He exclaimed with his hands on his hips. “Even if my home is a single one in the middle of the forest.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at his glorious self-given title. He looked back at you and caught your amused expression. He quickly joined you in a fit of chuckles.
“Such a renowned fashionista that every squirrel and bird turns their heads when they see you arrive?” You teased between two laughs.
“You would be surprised.” He teased back. “Silver would always widen his eyes in awe as he saw me try another style.”
“Are we sure it was in awe and not in surprise, wondering what went through your head again?” You asked.
“It’s called fashion, beastie. Here, I’ll show you how it’s done.” He said as he bolted towards multiple racks.
Your eyes tried to follow his movements, but all you saw was a shadow going from clothes to clothes. While your ears caught some murmurs. “Maybe this and this? No, it’s not cute enough. Then… Oh, what is this?”
You waited for a few minutes until your boyfriend came to a halt in front of you, holding two outfits in his hands with a proud grin.
“Look at these, and don’t tell me they aren't fashionable. First, we have this shirt with frills. It is a cute design and would suit me well since I’m oh so cute!” He began, excited to show you what he had found.
“You are always cute.” You responded with a smile.
“Isn’t it? I’m the cutest guy around.” He smiled proudly. “But!” He said with a serious face. “This chic shirt brings out my mature charm… It’s not every day that you see me like this. Which one will it be? Cute or mature?” He asked with a smirk while wiggling his eyebrows.
“I see you in cute clothes all the time. Mature, though… It’s quite a rare sight. Besides, it’s your birthday, so mature look.” You said with a smile, trying to hide your reddening cheeks.
“Mature to show off my hidden charms… Very well.” He said with a smirk and a wink, heading towards the changing room.
You sat on the plush couch while waiting for your boyfriend to come out. This whole mature style was really picking your interest. It was rare, if not impossible, to see him in such a look.
“Tada!” You heard as Lilia came out of the changing room. “What do you think?” He asked as he twirled like a model to show off his look.
When your eyes caught the oversized jacket draped on his shoulders, the tie wrapped elegantly around his neck, and his hair put behind his ear. You stopped breathing for a moment while you felt your cheeks reddening once again. His laugh brought you back to your senses. You immediately hid your face in your hands.
“Judging by your reaction, I made the right choice.” He chuckled as you gave him a thumbs-up, still hidden behind your hands.
The two of you were now walking hand in hand towards Foothill Town’s plaza. Every time someone looked your way, Lilia would elbow you and wiggle his eyebrows, telling you about his outfit stealing everyone’s gaze. You just rolled your eyes and smiled, amused by his shenanigans. Though, even if the sun was out, the wind was still present, and being near the harbor only intensified it. Luckily, his hand was warm and kept yours tucked away from the cold. After a few moments, your boyfriend suddenly stopped and looked at you.
“The tip of your nose is red… Are you perhaps cold?” He asked, with a sparkle of worry in his eyes.
“A little bit, but I should be fine…” Just as you pronounced the last word, a gust of cold wind made you shudder.
“I don’t want you to get sick on me now. Here.” He said as he draped his jacket on your shoulders to shield you from the cold.
“But-“ You began, not wanting for him to get cold too.
“No buts. We’ll pick up the pace to warm ourselves up. Now, let’s go!” He exclaimed as he began to run, still holding your hand.
He was right. By the time you arrived in front of the place he wanted to show you, your body wasn’t cold anymore. He stopped running, turned to you, put his hands on his hips, and looked at you with a grin.
“Dum-dum-dum-dum…. The karaoke!” He exclaimed as he opened his arms towards the sign placed on the building.
You shook your head at his antics but laughed anyway. What a dork, you thought while a smile took its place on your lips.
“We are going to sing and let off the steam. Are you ready?” He asked as he extended his hand for you to take.
Once inside the karaoke room, Lilia rushed to the control board to select his favorite songs while you took some pictures of the interior for the video. He turned his head to look at you and caught the phone in your hands.
“I’m lucky to have you as my assistant today.” He said out of nowhere.
You looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Silently asking him to elaborate.
“I completely forgot we had to film the video. Without you, I would have come back empty-handed.” He explained.
“I thought that we could maybe film this karaoke session to put in the video. It could be a fun memory to keep and show to Silver, Malleus, and Sebek.” You responded.
“So that next time, they will join us. Smart, beastie. Very smart.” He exclaimed with a wink. “Now, I’ve chosen the song we will sing. We should choose an instrument to play in rhythm with it.”
The two of you looked inside the instrument box, looking for the perfect tool to liven up this karaoke experience.
“How about a tambourine?” You asked as you held the instrument in your hand.
“It will liven things up for sure!” He exclaimed as he rushed once again towards the control board to start the song.
As Piece of My World began, Lilia took the microphone in his hand and prepared to sing, or rather to yell his favorite lyrics. While you began to play the tambourine to match it as best you could to the rhythm of the music. You thought you were doing well until he stopped the music suddenly.
“Why did you stop the music?” You asked, not understanding.
“WRONG! That’s not it at all!” He exclaimed with a distressed expression. “This is NOT how you should play the tambourine. I’ll show you how it’s done!”
He took the instrument from your hands as he started the song again. He began to wiggle the tambourine as his whole body followed. Soon, he was dancing in the whole room, wiggling the instrument not at all on beat, but he looked like he was having fun. You were left speechless, watching him have the time of his life. You decided that you couldn’t let this be forgotten, so you took out your phone and began to record him. Giggles escaped your mouth without you noticing them at the sight in front of you.
“And now here comes the best part! I hope you are ready!” He exclaimed as he pointed to you with the microphone in hand.
Suddenly, the chorus began, and you put your hands on your ears, knowing what was waiting for you.
“Woooaaah! Let’s dance to this twisted rhythm! Your willful, downcast gaze had its own kind of charm! It’s all right! Isn’t it good to be a little bad?!” Sang, or rather yelled, Lilia at the top of his lungs.
It went like this for the rest of the song. When the music ended, he came closer to you and looked at your phone over your shoulder.
“Oh, it looks perfect. I’m sure everyone will be jealous of not coming with us today.” He exclaimed with a smile. “Now, are you ready to have fun? Get as hyped as you can!” He said as he dragged you towards the microphone. Let’s say that you both sang (yelled?) for at least a dozen songs.
After singing for the rest of the afternoon, the two of you were now walking towards Bonbon Recette. You couldn’t help but wonder how come Lilia hadn’t lost his voice yet. Every time you heard him sing, he was yelling, and according to Cater, he was doing the same thing at the pop music club. Only Silver and Malleus had told you that he had a sweet voice. Were you talking about the same fae? Your thoughts were interrupted by the bell at the entrance of the bakery, signaling your arrival.
“I’ve had the best time shouting with our whole hearts! We should do that again sometime!” He exclaimed with a smile on his face. “Oh! A bonbon chocolat!”
You shook your head and smiled; of course he would drop everything to taste chocolate. As you saw his eyes widening, you knew what he would say and beat him to it.
“It’s delicious! Though, it isn’t enough to grow big and strong!” You said, your hands on your hips as you imitated him.
“Hehe! You know me so well.” He chuckled softly. “This bittersweet sweetness is wonderful. It gives a mature taste. It’s perfect for me.” He exclaimed with a smirk.
“Happy birthday, Lilia.” You said with a smile after rolling your eyes at his comment.
“Thank you. It’s great to be celebrated by so many wonderful people. Now, eat some cake too, or you won’t grow strong!” He exclaimed happily as he pushed a slice towards you.
JP spoilers for the card serie “La Bonbonnière” - Idia edition
A spoonful of sweetness - Idia edition
What if discovering Idia’s favorite spots in Foothill Town isn’t just for the video Night Raven asked for but is also a way to celebrate your boyfriend’s birthday?
Winter was well established at Night Raven College. The nights were getting colder and colder. Everyone had taken out their scarf and gloves to protect themselves from the freezing wind. Luckily for you, you weren’t bothered by the weather thanks to the automatic heating system installed by the Ignihyde students in their dorm. As you were walking down the hallways of said dorm, your mind went through every step of your plan. Today was your boyfriend’s birthday, but you knew how much he would prefer to stay inside his room and claim every log-in reward in his games. But you thought that maybe you could get him to get out of his room to pass some time together. You knew it wasn’t going to be easy, so you came prepared…
The door to his room appeared at the end of the hallway. You breathed in and out, crossing your fingers hoping that your plan would work, and knocked on the door.
“Idia? Can I come in?” you asked after a few seconds of silence. You knew his trick by now. He would play dead, and eventually the other person would leave, believing that he wasn’t there. Unluckily for him, you knew that well. Which is why you decided to announce who you were.
“Um… I mean… sure… come in.” said a voice from the other side of the door.
You entered his room and saw him already in front of his computer.
“Happy birthday, Idia!” you announced with enthusiasm but not without lowering your voice to not jump-scare him.
“I… T-thank you…” responded your boyfriend while avoiding your gaze.
“So-" You began, but he quickly interrupted you.
“I know what you’re going to say. “Let’s go outside to celebrate your birthday. It will be fun, I promise you!”” he exclaimed while mimicking your voice.
“And I know very well what you’re going to respond.” You explained while your smile never left your face, which unsettled Idia because he knew you were planning something. “Idia, you love claiming limited rewards, don’t you?” you asked him all of a sudden.
“I…” he looked surprised by your sudden change of subject. “Well, yes. Limited rewards are always fun to collect and prove to everyone that you have been playing for a long time.”
“How about this?” you began, while his eyes widened in horror. You wouldn’t use this as an excuse to get him to go outside, would you? “I prepared an exclusive quest for you, Idia!” you exclaimed while showing him a checklist of tasks to do.
“Eh?!” your boyfriend exclaimed, almost falling off his chair in the process. “How did you know that this game I’m playing had a picture-taking contest to get limited rewards?!”
“It’s not because I don’t play all your games that I’m not staying informed.” you explained. “So, what do you think? Think you can join me for today?” you asked softly while smiling at him.
“I… um… s-sure… I guess I can…” he breathed out, already exhausted just at the thought of going outside.
“Thank you so much, Idia.” You exclaimed with a huge smile on your face. You bent down and lightly kissed his cheek, from which they reddened. “Now, to the tailor shop to help you choose your equipment for this exclusive quest!”
The walk to the tailor shop had been long, or rather the walk from his room to the hall of mirrors. Luckily for you, Ortho came to help you convince Idia to leave Ignihyde. The battle hadn’t been easy, but at last, you managed to enter the shop.
“There’s way too much choice! How am I supposed to choose anything from this?!” exclaimed your boyfriend while his eyes scanned every rack possible. “Plus, they all look the same… What kind of game is this if all outfits are identical?”
You stiffened at this. Your plan wasn’t going as smoothly as expected. You had to find something to say and quickly to prevent him from wanting to go back to his dorm. You searched through your brain for what to say or ask… until your eyes widened. “Do you have any preferences?”
“Not really. As long as the clothes do their job, that’s all I’m asking for…” he said in a monotone tone, while his eyes began to look at the door.
Of course. He wouldn’t help you. You began to think again and find another question. Until his voice cut you off from your intense search.
“Well, since you dragged me here… take responsibility and help me choose.” He said, not realizing that he had just saved you.
“Yes, you’re right!” you exclaimed. “Alright, what about…” you trailed off while your eyes scanned every rack. “This?” you asked, showing him a fantasy-like outfit resembling one you saw on one of his characters. You knew that he would never wear that in public. But you had to lift his spirits before you showed him the true outfit.
“Whoa!” your boyfriend exclaimed. “It looks exactly like what a melee DPS would wear! You really know your stuff and how to hit my weak spot.”
You mentally high-fived yourself. Great job, you had managed to cheer him up. Step one accomplished.
“Though… I won’t have the courage to wear this outside.” He explained, but that didn’t stop him from going towards the changing room.
A few minutes later, he emerged from the changing room in his fantasy outfit.
“That’s so cool! I really look like a DPS!” he exclaimed while he observed himself in the mirror.
You decided to let him have his fun while you searched for the real outfit this time. As you flicked through the racks, you could hear some comments like, “It’s almost like I’m prepping myself before going to a dungeon.” Finally, you found an elegant yet casual outfit for him to wear. As you turned around to present to him the other clothes, you found him striking a pose in front of the mirror. You tried to contain your laugh, but you failed miserably and chuckled.
“Ha!” he shrieked in horror, taking big steps away from the mirror. “Did you see that now?!”
After calming him down a second time, you managed to get him to try the casual outfit. Your boyfriend wasn’t really confident in it, but you reassured him that he looked handsome. Finally, the gear preparations, as he began to call them, were complete. As for now, you were walking with him in town. When you exited the shop, you saw how his eyes widened when he saw too many people for his liking. Your hand had found his as you dragged him gently, without a word, towards the back streets. He looked more calm, though he grumbled about the weather and why you would need to leave your room to get anything when you could order it and have it delivered to your room.
“So…” you began, trying to bring the subject of the day to the table without scaring him. “What spot do you want to present for the video?”
“I knew you were up to something!” he exclaimed as his eyes widened. “You’re like those NPCs who give you a quest only for them to betray you later.”
“Idia, you don’t need to present the video yourself. We can take a few photos and videos and then edit them.” you said softly, trying to warm him up to the idea.
“Well… I have no recommended spot… I’m kind of like never going into town.” He said, hands in his pockets.
“Look, how about this?” you began. “We go to the photo-taking event location for your game, and we’ll present this video? What do you think? You think you can do it?” you asked, taking his hand out of his pocket and holding it in yours.
“A-alright…” he accepted, grumpily, though his hand squeezed yours a tiny bit, betraying a hidden feeling.
Luckily for the both of you, the location ended up being Crane Port, which was empty at this time of the year, to your boyfriend’s relief. As you got closer to the location, the cold winter wind rose up, causing both of you to bury your faces in your respective warm scarves.
“It’s so cold out there. Quick! Let’s finish this so that we can go back as fast as possible to my room.” Idia exclaimed, now searching frantically for the photo location.
Eventually, you both found the location to take pictures for the event. “I can finally level up my water-attribute character! I can’t wait to see how it will perform in a dungeon!” he exclaimed giddily, already lost in his strategies.
You said nothing and let him have his fun. Seeing him smile and being this passionate really warmed your heart. It wasn’t every day that you would see your boyfriend being this happy outside his room. You were lost in your thoughts until something warm grazed your cheek.
“Thank you… for everything,” whispered Idia against your cheek.
You both stayed a little longer on the docks, admiring the gentle waves and the silence. Then, you decided to end your boyfriend’s suffering and offered him to go back to his room, which he accepted within a second. You took the back streets again, hand in hand, walking slowly while admiring the scenery. You both went to retrieve his special cake at Bonbon Recette to eat it in his room while editing his video. Finally, you reached Ignihyde, and your boyfriend launched for his room. You chuckled softly and followed him inside to see him sprawled on his bed.
“Finally!” he breathed out, face first in his pillow. “I can hear my stamina recovering from all this walking…”
You chuckled at his antics and put the cake on his desk. “Maybe some chocolate cake will help you recover your energy. What do you think?” you asked as you opened the box.
His ears perked up at the mention of chocolate. He quickly got up from his bed and took his place on his gaming chair. You placed in front of him his slice of cake with a smile, as his eyes sparkled.
“Happy birthday, Idia. Thank you for agreeing to go outside with me today. I had a lot of fun. Quest accomplished.” You said softly.
“Well… thanks for helping me out… it means more than you realize…” he whispered, avoiding your gaze.
“I’m glad to hear it.” You murmured back.
He just nodded and dug in his cake. As the piece of cake touched his tongue, his eyes widened. “It’s so sweet! The chocolate warms up my worn-out heart.”
“Well, since it’s giving you a moral boost, how about you show me your editing skills you kept mentioning? I’m really excited to see how this video will turn out.” You exclaimed happily.
“You truly know how to win me over. Alright, I’ll show you how it’s done!” he said, while turning towards his computer. “So, to begin with, you’ll have to open the editing app. Then, we can add a BGM and subtitles to introduce the port. We can also put some transitions between the shots… To do that, you’ll need to…”
He began to explain giddily how his programs worked and what he could add to make a wonderful video. You thought that maybe this day wasn’t as horrible as he thought it would be. Mission “make Idia smile” accomplished.
