Hi, and thanks for asking! Long McLennon Fanfics

(Full disclosure: I'm not a huge reader of longer multi-chapter fics, because my desire to read many different writers pulls me towards one shots. This list is short-ish and only reflects my personal taste! I hope people feel free to add other long fics they enjoyed, or perhaps make their own lists and tag @myjackjack-blog1?)

• I Need You Darlin' by @beatlessideblog. I couldn't possibly select "five favorite fics," but when it comes to the favorite, it doesn't even take me a second to pick this one.

• I Still Miss Someone/ I Know That I Miss You, But I Don't Know Where I Stand by RosalindBeatrice. John and Paul reunite in the 1970's. It's not perfect.

• Throw the Wine by @savageandwise. The break-up and beyond. Painful, beautiful, and unforgettable.

• always, no sometimes by @stonedlennon. Sgt. Pepper era. FFour times John and Paul are almost found, one time they found each other.

• where the spirit meets the bone by @scurator. Paul visits Mendips after Mimi's death, and finds John's ghost. Also excellent Paul/Ringo content and an absolutely pitch-perfect ending!

• knowing that the sun is there by @wonderwall1968. After Brian's death, John decides to come out.

• The Light on Your Door by @dailyhowl. AU in which Lennon & McCartney are tailors on Savile Row. Just trust me, this works. Absolutely stunning, sensual...pure art.

• Heart of Glass by @javelinbk. I could have picked any fic by javelin, but this one is so hot and full of longing, even though they're together (are they)? AU in which they're neighbors in the 80's.

• Amid the labouring world by @bodhbdearg. The novel of Mary McCartney — and she doesn't die. This fic (which also shows her view of Paul and J/P) feels incredibly true and is such a joy to read. Go there!

• The sun itself sees not till heaven clears by @bodhbdearg. Modern AU in which John and Paul are Irish experimental musicians who discover their feelings for each other while going offline...and working on an album together. The cliché about the landscape being a character is true here!

• i can only speak my mind by @revollver. John's diaries are published. Paul reads them...and understands. Honey slow feelings realization and yearning...every paragraph feels like a precious thing.

• i dream to riot (oh, you should try it) by @thesluts2004. Britpop AU, with John and Paul as leaders of competing bands: The Quarrymen and Wings. Complete with newspaper articles, interviews, concert appearances...and Paul at his most enticing.

• The Cast Iron Shore/ The Reeperbahn/ Mike Storms the Bastille by @m1ssunderstanding. Diversion AU in which Paul sells himself to earn money for the family—until he meets John. But this is only the beginning...Set in Liverpool, Hamburg, and Paris. I love the scenes of them playing live above all—the power of their music, through it all.

• One of the Beautiful People by @notgrungybitchin. Unfinished, but updated each Tuesday, currently on Chapter 6/12. John and Paul are competing sugar babies in Swinging London...and in love. But they don't know it yet. What I love about this fic is that it's set in the Beatles world, and at times the "what should have been" feels so close...and they're still themselves, despite their different decisions in the past. The erotic tension is to die for, and so is John's voice, and of course Paul's...everything.

i've got you under my skin (where the rain can't get in): Age difference McLennon set in the early 80's. Former Beatle John falls in love with his son's roommate: Paul McCartney, an up-and-coming musician. This is exactly as hot and wrong as it sounds—but they grow up, and find each other again.

Some of my favorite fanfics set in 1969

• The Dream by Monkberrymoon. Screenplay-format fic set during the events of Get Back. Did you dream about me last night? This one has to be read to be believed.

• Poppy by bookofapril. Robert Fraser visits the Beatles in the studio during the recording of Let It Be. Part of a growing collection of stories about Paul and Robert that show the deep changes in both of them through the years. Robert's POV (on McBeardy, front and back) is fantastic.

• one and one and one is three by @pauls1967moustache. Paul's heart, flailed open, as he agrees to a threesome with John and Yoko. I admire writers who can stay close to the smoldering pain for as long as Mo, without ever writing a dumb or ugly sentence.

• dreaming of the past by @revollver. Bored and annoyed by the business of the Beatles in '69, John fantasizes about Smaul. It makes him look at Paul with different eyes.

• (sorry for not making you my) centrefold by @scurator. Paul on his knees before George in 1969. So much between them can't be fixed anymore, but what they have can't die.

• for though they may be parted by downtothelastdrop. Severance methods (memory split) are applied to the Beatles as they record Let It Be. Will it help them finish the album? They find each other in each univserse.

• If the Rain Comes by @honeyheffron. During the final days of the Beatles, John visits Ringo. He finds comfort.

• Here's Looking at You by @crumblingcookies. I didn't intend to put these two fics so close to each other, but this is a nice companion to honeyheffron's: 1969. "Paul will do anything to keep George in the band.")

• They Put A Man on the Moon by @savageandwise. John and Paul and the moon landing. Sweet and gentle and (careful!) it will break your heart.

• We Are Stardust by @unchaineddaisychain. AU. Paul and John meet at Woodstock and fall in love. Problem: Paul promised to travel back home to England...

• One More Kiss (Before I Go) by @nerolikestowander. (Drawings): John and Paul say goodbye. This is art.

• Get A Job, Cop! by @javelinbk. After the rooftop concert, briefly John and Paul end up in jail. Their relationship changes after that—but is it enough to bring them back together?

• But as the words are leaving his lips, a noise comes from behind by @hootiepgh. The Beatles end up killing Allen Klein. Together, they have to cover up the murder.

The Gibson ES-355 model was a personal favourite of Gallagher's from 1996 until 2011. This is arguably one of the most significant guitars associated with Oasis, as it was the catalyst for one of the most famous splits in music history, and symbolises the turbulent relationship of a band that shaped the 1990s.
