Fire Emblem Awakening Grimleal Prince Robin AU
“Prince Chrom sighs in boredom as his eyes survey the ballroom of the Plegian palace. The grand hall full of people of the Ylissean continent is loud with music and conversation. It is no difficult task to tell who hails from the Halidom of Ylisse, Regna Ferox, or the Theocracy of Plegia by the contrast of dark and light colors of their clothing. Chrom, his sisters, and their cohort had been cordially invited by the other royals of their neighboring country, so how could they refuse? Even if Plegian customs were a bit… dark and unorthodox. Not to mention, they’ve had a recent history of war.
This invitation was, according to the Plegian King Validar, an act of good will, for it was the Beautillion Ball of the mysterious Prince Robin, in which he will be introduced to society. Not much is known of the sheltered prince, only rumors of his people saying that he has a ‘Grand Destiny’ to fulfill for his people. Whatever that may be. Emmeryn, Chrom’s older sister and the Exalt of the Ylissean Halidom, Chrom, and their younger sister, Lissa have decided to give the Plegians a chance. Even so, their loyal knight, Frederick has his suspicions and watches everyone like a hawk with his concealed weapon at the ready.
Chrom had tried to find out more about this seemingly snobby Prince Robin but to no avail. The ball had been going on for a while now and there had been no word of when the prince would appear. But just when Chrom is about to make his way to the refreshment table for the third time, the room suddenly dims. Plegian drums begin to roll and everyone silences. All in the ballroom pay respect as King Validar appears atop the grand staircase. He makes a grand speech and finally introduces his son, the Fellblood Prince Robin. An interesting title to be noted by the Ylisseans.
The young prince emerges in his dark attire of black, ivory, and gold. Shimmering violet jewels adorn his clothing and his horned headpiece. His bright silver hair sticks out amongst the crowd as he calmly makes his entrance. Chrom stands there, speechless and slack-jawed at the sight of the seemingly stoic young man. There is an elegant, unamused expression on his face as he practically floats down the stairs.
A flash of interest betrays his disposition only for a second when his eyes meet that of the Ylissean prince. Robin’s eyes dart down immediately and his stoic expression is back. Chrom, however, doesn’t dare to look away.”
This is an AU where where (FE:A spoilers) Robin’s mother didn’t run away with him and he lived in the Plegian palace instead. He lives a very sheltered life always being told what to do, where to go, etc. All his life, Robin is told that his destiny is to be a vessel for Grima since he bears the full mark of the Fell Dragon. He bears high expectations and his desires as an individual person are ignored, so he shuts down and develops an outwardly stoic personality.
However, on the day of his Beautillion Ball, he catches the eye of the Ylissean Halidom’s Prince Chrom who is very kind and eager to become friends with him. They talk all evening and get to learn about each other and their countries. Chrom slowly begins to discover the error of his initial perceptions about the Plegian prince. The more Chrom learns about Robin’s sincerity and his passion for strategy, the harder he falls.
“I can see why they named you Robin,” Prince Chrom chuckles.
“Why?” Asks Prince Robin.
“You live like a caged bird.”
After the ball, Prince Chrom makes constant visits to Plegia to spend time with Robin. “It’s for diplomatic reasons,” he says with a smile. Emmeryn and Lissa aren’t completely convinced, considering the flush in his cheeks. On the other hand, Validar allows them to grow close for “diplomatic reasons.” However, he doesn’t notice the growing affection between the two princes.
Chrom eventually finds out that Robin’s “Grand Destiny” is to be sacrificed as a vessel to the Fell Dragon, Grima and bring about the end of the world. Which is pretty shocking, to say the least. The more they talk, the more Chrom makes Robin realize that he doesn’t have to resign himself to his imposed “grand destiny.” Eventually, some crazy stuff happens and Chrom convinces Robin to run away with him, eventually starting a war/revolution kind of like in canon.
