Yayy, hopefully one day I can fully convert you into a moonmassacre shipper. Or LightMassacre shipper. Or Massacremoon shipper? I still havent worked out which ship name I like bestā¦.
Here is my long list of my favourite Death Note rarepairs (at the moment).
Mello/Light: They would some how be more toxic and volatile than Moonriver, and that pretty much sums up why I like them. Itās both a blessing and a curse that they never met in person in canon. I have a few paragraphs of a Mellolight wip where that happens in my notes app where that happens. Letās just say they donāt get along. Also their ship name would be āchocolatechipsā and I think thatās cute.
Halle/Kiyomi: I love them so so so much. God they are so good together. I want to know how Halle felt when she heard of Kiyomiās deathā¦doomed lovers. I mean it also has my favourite trope of betraying the one you love. Iām such a sucker for that, and I need to write more for them.
Beyond/Misa: I remember trying to write them platonically in my Beymisa one shot but it took on a life of its own. They would get along so well. They would be severely co-dependent though.
Beyond/Mello: I mean, if Beyond survived, and in an aged up au, there is potential. Considering Mello wrote a whole book surrounding Beyondās crimes, I can see him becoming fascinated with Beyond the person. And I think since Mello is Lās successor, Beyond in turn would be interested in Mello, maybe wanting to make him more like himself. It would be kind of like a mentorāmentee relationship, though not a healthy one.
Beyond/Naomi: I'm not sure if this counts as a rarepair, but I'm sure your starting to see a pattern. B is appearing everywhere. Beyond was 100% fond of Naomi, and in another universe, she returns his feelings.
L/Mikami: L has a Kira fetish, so why doesent that extend to Mikami as well? Maybe it is a good thing L never survived to season 2 and met Mikami, he would have been all over him, in more ways then one.
Misa/Sayu: oh come on why isnt there more fics for them!! Iām saying this now, Sayu Yagami is a lesbian struggling with comphet. Iād like to think they would be cute together, though I kind of think they would be the yuri version of yagamane.
Misa/Naomi: I started reading a long-fic focused around this ship and now Iām addicted. If only Naomi lived a little longer.
Kiyomi/Misa: I didnt realize this ship has under 100 fics, I thought it had much more! They would be so toxic for each other....I need to finish a prompt fill I have for them.
Aiber/L: I would also put L/Wedy or Aiber/Wedy (Aiber/L/Wedy) but I think as your noticing I ship alot and I mean ALOT of rarepairs, and I dont want this list to go on forever. This just reminds that I do have a wip for them. This whole list is reminding me of wips I started and never finished.
Moonriver: Self explanatory. Iāve deluded myself into believing they are not a rare-pair.

Mello/L: This one I was only convinced of because I randomly decided to click on a fic by one of my favourite authors who wrote for them, and from then on out, I was converted. Though I do really only see it as one-sided, with Mello having this idol ācrushā on L.
