i canāt get over this.Ā
i came across this answer from mollins:
and the first thing i thought of was this question and answer from jibcon 2019 [kudos to @curvedsphereā for transcribing it forever ago]
Q: How would Sam and Dean want Supernatural to end?
Jensen: Iām gonna jump in. I think thatā¦their idea, their ideal scenario, would be for all those that were in heaven go back to heaven, all those that were in hell they go back to hell. All of the demon and heaven and hell and angel, all that stuff kinda goes back to status quo and it goes back to season one when it was just monsters. just having to fight those things that go bump in the night. (jokes) And then I think itād be cool, they can kind of teach their knowledge to maybe a younger generation of hunters. And thatās, in my opinion, how I think the brothers would love for the world to kind of end up, is back to a state of normalcy but they still have jobs, so to speak. Yeah. I doubt thatās gonna happen, but weāll see.
my point? these two are talking about some kind of continuation they just gotta be
God, I WISH. That would be perfect. I donāt remember that jibcon 2019 answer. Maybe I never saw it, or maybe I did see it and it aligned so perfectly with where I wanted the show to go/where I assumed the show WAS going that I just went, ā[Thumbs up] Yes goodā and went on my merry way. For the longest time it did feel like thatās where things were headed, to me ā and obviously to a lot of other people in the fandom too ā it felt like we were going to be seeing TFW as the ānew Bobby,ā only with access to even more knowledge and expertise than Bobby had (the MOL library, Rowenaās journals, Samās own witchy experience, Casā angelic experience, etc. etc.), taking care of the newer generations and helping them learn about the supernatural.
I donāt want to get my own hopes up about a specific continuation, so I donāt want to assume thatās whatās happening ā I know theyāve both talked about maybe doing some kind of reunion miniseries, Iām not saying I think itās off the table, I just donāt want to pin my own hopes on any one specific concept, you know? So I donāt want to assume that theyāve discussed it with any intent. But even then, even if they havenāt talked about this at all and itās entirely coincidental, I find it so telling that Misha AND Jensen AND the fandom could potentially have all independently come up with this āTFW as mentors and guides to the younger generationā concept for the charactersā futures. Like⦠maybe, just maybe, thatās where it made the most sense for the story to go??!! [nudges the finale decision-makers] Huh?!
But man, an actual continuation with this plot sounds just about perfect to me. Sigh. That would be so nice.
im suppose to be doing hw but i have a dumb brain so here. have a 15x19 destiel reunion. kinda.
Only a couple of hours after Cas was gone, Dean was still on the floor crying when the portal opened up, and Cas was thrown out of it. Cas lands on his back, and with a groan, he sits up to meet Deanās red-rimmed eyes.
He looked concerned, but his voice was still even. āHello, Dean.ā Cas started to stand up, brushing himself off as he talked. āSo the empty wants your help, and it brought me back as payment.ā
Dean looked at him, thinking maybe his brain had finally had enough, and he had gone crazy. āCas?ā
āShould I find it offensive?ā Cas walked over to Dean, a hand out to help him stand, but Dean only stared up at his face.
āCas.ā
When Dean made no move to take his hand, Cas dropped it. Instead, opting to hide them in his trench coat pockets. āI should explain that itās a mess in the empty right now. So many are awake. Itās complete chaos. Too many tried to kill me, and while I did wonder what would happen to me if I died there, I realized I actually didnāt want to find out.ā
Dean blinked up at him, confused. āCas, you just died.ā So why is he acting as if nothing happened?
āAnd now Iām back. Thatās usually how things work for us. Now come on, we have work to do. Whereās Sam?ā
Cas turns towards the door, ready to walk out when Deanās phone rings. When the phone keeps ringing, he notices Dean made no move to answer it, so he walks back to answer it for him. Sam was yelling at the other side, panic, and fear mostly. Cas reassures him that Dean is fine, but he needs Sam and Jack to come straight over; they need to meet with the Empty at Deathās library to talk.
He hangs up and hands the phone back to Dean, who doesnāt reach to take it.
āDean? Are you okay?ā Cas pockets Deanās phone before crouching down in front of him.
āNo! No, dipshit, Iām not okay!ā
āOh,ā Cas stands up again, making his way back to the door. āIf itās about before, then donāt worry, you donāt have to answer. Iām comfortable with just forgetting it ever happened. I did learn from the best.ā
Cas winks at him; it looks forced. Pained.
Dean forced himself up, feeling his muscles tight and sore from not moving all those hours, and strode over to stop Cas from leaving.
āI-I donātā¦do you want me to forget?ā
āIf it will be troublesome for our friendship, then yes.ā
āYeah, itās troublesome for our fucking friendship, Cas. You said you love me.ā
āAnd I do.ā
āIs thatā¦romantic love or-?ā
āYes.ā He said it so confidently now, it made Dean catch his breath.
āAnd you want me to forget that?ā he sounded so quiet, scared even when he asked.
āDean, Iāve been ignoring it for years.ā
Years. āYouāve loved me for years?ā
āAm I making you uncomfortable? We should stop talking-ā
Cas looked away, but Dean reached to take his face in his rough hands. Trying to hold him as gently as he could, wanting so much to grip at him to make sure he was actually real. Actually there.
Then with a quiet, desperate whisper, Dean says, āMe too.ā
Cas opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. So Dean spoke again, louder this time. āMe too, Cas. Iā¦me too. I feel-me too.ā
Cas lets out a breath he didnāt have to take before Dean sees the tears drown in the blue again. Watching as Casās demeanor changed and his stiff gestures melted away under Deanās touch. Slowly Cas reaches to finally pull Dean into a tight embrace, his chin resting on Deanās shoulder while he quietly let out a small sigh of relief.
āI thought I ruined it. I didnāt think you wouldāI never imagined you would see me like that.ā
The hug was familiar, nothing new, and yet everything felt new when Deanās hands gripped at his coat. He couldnāt find the words, but he let himself fall against Cas, feeling both their grasps relax until finally, Dean felt a hand at the back of his neck. Soothing him with quiet touches, they would never have let themselves have before. Lingering over skin, hair, and eventually, they turned their heads.
Noses brushing as breaths mingled together.
The world was ending, but at least they had this. Finally, finally, they had each other again.
Dean leaned in only to hear Sam run in, āThere you two are! What happened to the door? Wait, what are you-? Are you two serious?! Chuck just snapped everyone out of existence!ā
āWhat? You found them?ā Jack ran in just in time for Cas to push Dean away. Dean tried not to find offense to it when he saw Cas's relief when he laid his eyes on Jack. āCas! Youāre here! I thought-I had a feeling. For a second, I couldnāt feel you around, and I was scared that Chuck took you too!ā
āIām here,ā Cas reassured him as Jack walked to hug him. āIāll explain everything, but we need to go somewhere safe. Somewhere Chuck has no power.ā
āThe Empty.ā

āWhat?ā
Dean turns and simply stares at him in answer, narrows his eyes a bit to make his point: heās pissed. Cas closes his eyes and inhales deeply, that dramatic bastard, and walks towards him where heās unloading the āfresh produceā on the kitchen counter.
āDean. What?ā
He pins Cas with a look and scoffs louder than is necessary, if only to match Casā dramatics. Not one to apologize, or even persist anymore, for that matter, wow, Cas raises his hands above his head and announces, āFine. If thatās what you want.ā
when theyāre living in the bunker sam makes their own face masks w organic ingredients and they make an avocado and honey one and leaves it in the fridge to chill and the next time he walks into the kitchen dean says ādude the guac you made tastes like shitā and sam says āwhat guac i didnātā¦.ā and then it clicks and heās like DID YOU EAT MY FACE MASK DEAN ??!? and yes, dean did eat multiple spoonfuls of it before he gave up and decided to not let sam help with the cooking next time they have nachos
sam has to start labelling them DO NOT EAT becuz while dean learned his lesson that first time cas & jack keep eating the face masks whenever samās not around becuz they both like the texture

oh my god kid jack starts to learn how to read and heās sitting on deans lap one day with his hands on deans stomach and starts saying some shit about protection and wrath out loud and deans like ??? kid what are you on about rn??? and heās like . iām reading daddyās notes on your ribs :)
okay, im sorry, but i had to write this (it got a little long) :
Dean ran his finger under the sentences as he read, slowly so Jack could try to follow along. āThe Brontosaurus lived during the Late Jurassic Period, from about 156 to 145 million years agoāā
Jack grabbed his finger, stopping him. āBahn-tu-?ā His face screwed up as he looked back at Dean from where he sat in his lap.
Dean ran his finger under the word again. āBrahn-tuh-sore-us.ā
To be honest, he wasnāt entirely sure if he was pronouncing the name correctly, or if reading from an advanced dinosaur book was the best way to teach Jack to read, but it was Jackās favorite book, so heād be stuck reading it over and over anyway.
Jack nodded and settled back down in his lap. Dean continued reading, soft sounds of clinking dishes and running water coming from the kitchen. A trade-offāDean cooked, Cas washed. Dean also got stuck with the dinosaur book which he could probably recite by memory now.
Reaching the end, finally, he shut the book and Jack tried to pry it back open. āAgain!ā
Dean rubbed his eyes. āIsnāt there something else you wanna read?ā
āNo!ā Twisting in Deanās lap, Jack started to complain, then his brow furrowed as he stared at Deanās t-shirt. Dean looked down, expecting to see a spaghetti sauce stain or something, but his shirt was clean.
āMay these words bring⦠pwotection,ā Jack said, concentration lining his face. Dean startled, staring at him. Jack reached out a chubby finger to trace Deanās shirt. āOr the⦠wath of⦠ce-les-tial awmies will be turned against you.ā
i'm sorry if everyone already screamed about this and i missed it but WOW this is a big bowl of glass huh
Okay okay. Iām so excited right now. I know some people are going to be crabby because we want a continuation with our boys and we really just do not like John Winchester for the most part⦠however⦠hereās my counter.Ā
1) This means CMP is able to test the waters in the SPN universe. They were given the rights to play around a little bit with the characters. Yes, not THE main characters, but characters nonetheless. So ā getting the rights to SPN in one way or another.Ā
2) Along the same lines, to me this is testing. This isĀ āhow well can you do with a SPN story before we give you the pop culture lead characters everyone has a pulse onā.
3) As @youchangedmedeanā pointed out, in the article, Jackles is quoted as sayingĀ āthe first story we wanted to tellā which makes it sound like they got others in the brainstorming session.Ā
4) It will bring back some SPN alumn which is fantastic.Ā
5) From a storytelling perspective, itās going to help expand the universe. We only got the TINIEST peak into their lives. We know John was a Vietnam Marine (a duty that caused a lot of trauma in a generation of men), thought his father left, has no knowledge of the occult or supernatural, and yadda yadda. We know Mary came from a long line of hunters and has a hunting past. Do you know how awesome itās going to be seeing more of her and her family and what they did and their priorities ā and what knowledge they have? The Winchester side is tied to the Men of Letters but we can explore the Campbell side as well. But ALL OF THIS TO SAY: If Jackles is really like saying there will be more stories in this universe, then this is going to help expand that, add more lore to it, add more things to play with for an eventual continuation.Ā
So in conclusion:Ā We know he is looking at aĀ ārebootā (continuation, bless him), and heās always wanted to do Wayward Sisters. So ā my thing is basically this is the first of what will probably be at least three or four stories heās looking to do in thisĀ āuniverseā. Heās helping to expand it. I know the fandom isnāt a big fan of John but this is a John pre-Maryās death, pre show.Ā
Heās expanding this story. Heās getting rights to SPN. This is like a test run because heās still a smol producing company ā so yeah.Ā
*grabs face* get stoked because the guy is getting the ball rolling.Ā
All of this!
They have to start somewhere. And this is a great place to start. It will give us more insight in why their family is the way it is. It will give us insight on how they view the world. What was Chuckās role? Will we see how the angels and demons planned for the vessels of Michael and Lucifer? It will show us so much more. It will give extra material to work with if they ever wanna flesh out a continuation to a higher standard than we had before.
To make the continuation they need TIME. Like @wigglebox said on twt, Jared is still lead of another show. Plus we want the whole spn universe better. The arcs done more justice. You canāt build something new with the bricks youāve already used unless you break it down or add new bricks. And making bricks takes time. We donāt want it half assed like the finale.
I think this is a nice filler piece to add extra bricks to the story building.
Also, remember THIS?
Truth
āTell me something true.ā
Cas thinks for a moment, then says, āThe summer solstice isnāt really the longest day of the year. Every day is twenty four hours long. The solstice just has the most sunlight, so people say itās the longest.ā
Dean throws his head back as he laughs. āVery good, Cas. I already knew that, though. Also, itās April.ā
Tilting his head, Cas says, āNext time be more specific.ā
. + . + . + .
āTell me something true.ā
āA snail can sleep for three years,ā Cas says.
Dean makes an odd noise in his throat. āI have no idea how to respond to that.ā
Cas shrugs. āNo response is necessary. You asked for a fact, I relayed it.ā
Shaking his head, Dean sighs. When Cas turns away, Dean smiles.
. + . + . + .
āTell me something true.ā
āThere are 88 official constellations, but people have been telling stories about the stars since stories and stars began.ā
Dean looks at Casās face in the starlight, then looks back up at the night sky. āTell me,ā he says.
Cas tells a story of a young girl in what is now Spain, who looked at the sky 700 years ago and saw the wings of a butterfly. He tells of a group of young men in Greece's far past who saw Achilles chasing Patrocles, and how they hoped Achilles would one day catch his love.
When Cas falls silent they just look at the stars, side by side in the grass. After a time Dean says, āThanks.ā He hopes itās enough.
. + . + . + .
āTell me something true.ā
Cas looks at Dean, a thoughtful look on his face. Finally he says, āGreen is my favorite color.ā
Another color, this one pink, rises to Deanās cheeks. āYeah?ā he says. The word sticks in his throat.
Cas nods.
āI like blue,ā Dean says.
. + . + . + .
āTell me something true.ā
āI donāt regret falling from grace,ā Cas says. His words are soft, but resolute.
True.
Dean searches Casās face for any sign of sadness, any hint of doubt, but all he sees is the truth he asked for.
āEven though you canātāā Dean starts, but Cas cuts him off.
āI donāt regret falling from grace.ā He emphasizes every word. āI donāt miss healing, or flying, or angel radio. I donāt miss heaven. I donāt miss commanding armies, or striking fear into the hearts of beings with my words alone. You are worth it, Dean Winchester.ā
Dean cannot speak. Heās just a guy, a pretty good hunter but fairly average at most everything else. Actually, he screws up just about everything he touches that isnāt about killing monsters. To think that Casābeautiful, strong, bigger than the Chrysler building Casāgave everything up for himā¦
āPlease stop thinking like that, Dean,ā Cas says. āI canāt get into your head anymore, but your thoughts are plain on your face. I mean every word. You are worth it.ā He brushes a kiss on Deanās cheek, and then heās gone, almost as if heād flown.
. + . + . + .
āTell me something true.ā
Cas smiles, the smile that lights up his whole face. āI love you,ā he says.
Something inside Dean falls into place; he almost hears the click in his head. Or in his heart. He canāt stop his own grin from spreading across his face. āI know,ā he says with a wink.
Cas rolls his eyes, says, āI do pay attention when we watch movies together, Dean. Especially the ones weāve seen thirteen times.ā
āThirteen?ā Dean sputters. āWe havenāt watched the Star Wars trilogyāā
āThirteen times, Dean. I have an excellent memory.ā
āOkay, Rain Man,ā Dean mutters, pouting.
āWho isāā Cas starts, but Dean interrupts him.
āWeāll watch that one later. Just shut up and kiss me.ā
Cas does, and after Dean says, āI love you too, you know.ā
Foreheads pressed together, Cas murmurs, āI know.ā
**
for @bend-me-shape-me 's Dean/Cas Summer Prompts Series!
Prompt 1 - summer solstice
When Dean finally rescued Cas from the empty, he expected a happy reunion. He envisioned a strong hug like the first time he had escaped. He expected a long-awaited kiss and repeated confessions that werenāt said with sorrow or heartache. He expected to find the same Cas that was taken, but that would have been too easy.
Cas was left awake, alone, and in complete darkness for months on end.
So when Dean went into the empty, ready to wake up the love of his life, he found Cas curled in on himselfāstaring blankly out into the void of nothingness. He whispered something so softly and quickly that Dean couldnāt pick up on the actual words, but it sounded familiar. Almost like he was humming a song.
Dean tried to get him to stand up on his own, but he quickly realized that Cas wasnāt even looking at him. His gaze was distant, seeing something Dean canāt even imagine. He then noticed the white film over his eyes dimmed the once bright blue.
His fingertips gently traced over the skin he had only dreamt of touching for months before he took a deep, shaky breath to steady himself. With that slight pause, Dean used whatever desperate strength he had and dragged Cas back to the portal.
Back home.
As they got closer, the light of the portal seemed to startle Cas, and he started to shove Dean away. Dean had to put Cas down so he could take his green jacket off and place it over Casās head to calm him before he slowly continued to walk through the portal and into the bunkerās library where Jack, Rowena, Eileen, and Sam were waiting for them.
When they walked through, Dean quickly shushed them as he fell to his knees with Cas still in his arms, hidden under the jacket, and covering his ears at the sudden loud voices surrounding them.
Dean looked around at his family, all sharing the same worried glances knowing they were on the same page. Casās welcome home party would be pushed back until further notice.
Cas didnāt cry. His expression didnāt change much at all. All Cas did was sit or lay on Deanās bed with the lights off. All but the desk light. It was an old lightbulb, so the light wasnāt a bright white like the rest of the place. Instead, it illuminated a soft golden glow against the wall.
Cas squinted at it at first, blinking so inhumanly at it, until all Cas did was stare at it. Whenever Dean made any move to turn it off or even just get near the lamp, Cas made a little whine at the back of his throat.
Little noises were the most Dean can get out of Cas. At least it brought him a little relief. It meant Cas could see him at that moment.
Cas still did that rapid talking or singing whenever it was a little bit too quiet. It made Dean wonder if Cas knew he was out of the Empty. Especially during those times when he would stare right past him, unblinking with cold eyes.
It was only the end of the second week when Dean broke down.

Iām just saying that if the majority of votes its what countsĀ given that the latam dub aired on 16 countries and the original and other dubs in a total of 13 countries, its arguably moreĀ ācanonā to say that dean textually reciprocated Cas feelings at the confession, because thatās what the majority of people watching it experienced and believe to be trueĀ
Something felt wrong.
Dean maneuvered his way back to Sam, balancing six pieces of pie in a cardboard box. He smiled, handing his brother a piece.
They talked for a moment, about him, before the conversation changed.
He watches, as if behind glass, as the Winchesters go through their lives as if nothing happened. As if they had never met him.
He watches, as the Winchesters sit over their car, flipping through Johnās journal.
Something feels wrong.
The Winchesters are moving again, this time to an old barn in the woods. He flashes back to a different barn, in a different time, but something pulls him under.
Something whispers in his ear. Those memories donāt matter. Only this. This is whatās real.
He watches, as the love of his life gets impaled on a rebar.
No, he thinks, this isnāt how it was supposed to happen.
This is how it was always meant to be.
He wants to scream, he wants to shout, cry, pound his fists on the floor, do something!
But they canāt hear him. All he can do is watch.
See, Castiel, they donāt care about you. They only care about each other.
Thatās not true. It canāt be true.
It is. Watch.
He watches. Itās all he can do now.
Watch as the Impala drives down a long winding road.
Watch as the brothers reunite.
Watch them celebrate with each other.
Watch as they forget about him.
Please, he begs, make it stop.
Make what stop. Iām just showing you the truth.
No, this canāt be the truth. They wouldnāt forget me, he cries.
They did. They never truly cared about you. It was all an illusion. They were just using you.
No, no, no, please, no.
What did you expect? That the Winchesters would just welcome you into their family. Lies! The Winchesters only care about each other.
No. This isnāt true. He knows this isnāt true. The Winchesters cared. They did.
The Winchesters are still driving down the same road. They arenāt talking, just sitting in silence.
āThis isnāt real. You are making me see this!ā He shouts, right as a bright glowing erupts, burning away the long winding road.
āCas, take my hand!ā
Cas fights through the Empty, stretching his hand as high as it can go.
āCas, please! You canāt leave me again!ā
No, Castiel. You canāt leave. You made a deal.
āCas! Please, I love you! So donāt go!ā
āDean.ā
Power surges through Cas as he reaches up to grab Deanās hand.
His eyes flare light blue, before going back to their original color as Dean pulls him through the crack in the dimension.
Cas collapses in Deanās arms the moment heās free. The two fall to the floor and Dean wraps his arms around Cas.
āDid you mean it?ā Cas murmurs. āDid you mean what you said?ā
āYes. I should have said it earlier, I should have said it years ago. I love you, Cas. I love you more than youāll ever know.ā
Cas hides a smile and buries his face in Deanās shoulder.
āI love you too.ā
