This is a survey to understand stimming, fidgeting, and other repetitive movements in autism and ADHD. This survey is just for fun, not research! You're allowed to participate if you think that you have autism or ADHD even if you're not diagnosed yet. The survey is for people with autism, ADHD, or both autism and ADHD.
Page 1 is about your stimming, fidgeting, or repetitive movements in general. This includes if it's changed over time or gotten you into trouble. Page 2 is about visual stims/repetition. Page 3 is about audio stims/repetition. Page 4 is about tactile and movement stims/repetition. Page 5 is about smell, taste, and mouth-related stims/repetition. Page 6 is about other repetitive activities. Page 7 is about your autism, ADHD, or other conditions. Page 8 is about demographics. It asks about your gender, age, and ethnicity.
You can skip any questions that you do not want to answer. You can stop taking the survey at any time. If you do not submit the survey, no one will see your responses. The survey is completely anonymous; no one will know if you took the survey or what your responses are.
I would really appreciate if people could reblog this survey to help me reach people with ADHD. I have autism, I have a lot of friends with both autism and ADHD, and the same is true for most people following this account. However, I want to make sure that I also hear from people who only have ADHD and not autism!
When I have enough responses, I'll post them here!

it’s wild how tech literacy lasted like one generation barely before it fell off
The tech industry saw to it. In a drive to both expand their market by making it easier to pick up tech without knowing how it works, and in an effort to lock down controllable walled gardens and ecosystems they could fully control and exploit, tech has continuously and systemically destroyed both the need for tech literacy and the avenues for developing it independently.
You are not supposed to know how your devices work. You are not supposed to modify them without paying a service fee, you are not supposed to add functionality to them unless they sell it to you, and you are DEFINITELY not supposed to repair or reuse them when they could make you replace them at full price.
Tech literacy didn't die, it was slowly strangled out of people.
Our new robber barons immediately saw that knowledge really is power, and made sure to lock that shit down tight.
If you are currently wondering how to start becoming more tech literate, I have some suggestions:
Practice finding out exactly what model of device you're using and exactly what OS it's running. You will probably need to look under "Settings", which is usually represented by a gear, for something called "My Device" or "This Device". Poke around without changing anything and see what you find. Knowing what this means that when you have a problem you can google (with a better search provider, ideally) "Device type OS type problem" or "OS problem" with the appropriate device and OS.
Get comfortable poking around in menus. Probably the easiest way to do this is to open a word processor and look at every menu. Change things. When you find a word you don't recognize, look it up. You can look up "word processor unfamiliar word" to get a better sense of your program specifically means by it. Some programs will have their menus somewhere less obvious. Look for a set of three bars or balls that expands when you click on it. The idea here is for you to be able to figure out what your program can do and how to do it just by looking at the options.
Find out where your files are and how to move them. This is way easier on an actual computer, in my experience. Most likely when you download something it goes into your "Downloads" folder. Poke around in your computer's menus until you find your "Documents" folder and then drag files from one to the other. Please note that most programs will not be able to automatically open a file you have moved from inside the program. As for other devices -- google "Device OS file storage" or something and see what you can get.
The overarching idea here is that you're curious and informed about your tech, you'll be controlling it more than it controlling you.
Good luck, have fun, and spread knowledge!
omg thank you
just a heads up before we enter holiday market season
the price of silver has just about doubled in the past couple of years. I'm very unhappy about it, a lot of other silversmiths are unhappy about it, but the long and the short of it is that it is simply impossible to sell jewelry at the prices of a few years ago and still make a profit. please also keep in mind that you are not paying for the raw cost of the silver, you're also paying for all the overhead (studio time, tools, packaging, market fees, rent, food, transportation) that goes into the jewelry.
it's totally fine if a piece isn't in your budget. jewelry is not a necessity. But it does feel kind of bad as an artisan (after doing a shitload of math to make sure I'm setting things at a price that's fair to myself, my customers, and other artists) when someone does a whole gasp double-take routine looking at my price tag. :( like sir I promise I'm so very close to selling this at a loss, I have spent much more money on this business than I've made

what part of the human body is this? whenever I'm sick, it feels insanely bad
The Sickness Nodules
The Lumps of Disease
The Lymphen Mounds of Despair
Not to be serious or anything on a funny post - but - on the off chance that it helps people who have received medical advice etc etc -
Gentle self-massage of this area (manual lymphatic drainage) is so widely accepted as a management technique for inflamed lymph nodes that research papers literally just say, “MLD is widely accepted as a basic treatment for this symptom.” Normally, this is found in cancer patients, but the discomfort of inflamed lymph nodes can apply across groups.
Cancer patients are particularly known for having a tough time with these “Swollen Glands” and a self-massage to “strip” the swelling can provide relief. Although it is effective outside of cancer care, this knowledge is often siloed within cancer care.
Read some reputable sources and consult a doctor if you have complex symptoms or conditions. This is not medical advice; I am not a doctor and I am not your doctor.
the most basic form of self-massage to alleviate the symptoms is taught below.
I work with massage therapists, including ones who specialize in post-operative lymphatic massage and this video is the very one we send home with client for "homework"!
Note: (This is not meant to discourage the techniques above, just to clarify a little what's happening.) Your lymph nodes' job is to swell up when you're sick. They are busy at work producing the white blood cells that make you better! You have lymph nodes on the sides of your throat, in your armpits, just below your collarbone, near your crotch, and several other places (including lymph tissue in many major organs like lungs and liver), and any or all of these can go nuts when you're sick and that's good and healthy. (Again, not saying not to do stuff to relieve the discomfort, just clarifying that it's not something to worry about.)
However, if your lymph nodes stay swollen for more than 4-6 weeks after you're no longer sick (or when you weren't noticeably sick to begin with), especially if it's only the ones on one side of your body or you get nights sweats and/or itching all over your body that isn't helped by the usual things like moisturizing dry skin, see a doctor, because those things could be signs of lymphoma.
Brought to you by my old lymphoma patient email group, which got questions about once a week from people whose lymph nodes were swollen totally normally but they were freaking out thinking it was cancer. It's not! 99.99%+ of the time it's really not! But it helps to know what the actual signs are so you can reassure yourself.
