sometimes I think it's a bad look on me that I had one very bad experience of activist ableism and immediately pivoted my entire activist life to being about accessibility and calling out inaccessible and exclusive tendencies in activist communities
but actually like. what. is the virtue in tolerating this shit? I would not have had this reaction if I hadn't had conversations with many other disabled and otherwise marginalised people who had been putting up with this shit for much longer and were exhausted and burned out.
we're not morally required to silently endure X number of aggressively harmful experiences before we're sufficiently experienced to be allowed to complain. especially not when no amount of bad experiences is enough for people who do not care about disabled activists to accuse us of whining or overreacting
and once you start noticing it's hard to stop noticing. how much of mainstream activist culture, particularly with radical activism, rests on the implicit assumption that you're able-bodied and not at extreme risk from policing. there's no space for people recovering from addiction and people asking for drug or alcohol use to be limited to certain places or for organising not to take place in bars are treated like narcs. necessarily illegal or semi-legal action requires secrecy but no attempt is made to come up with solutions for people who NEED certain information (like how far will I need to walk? will there be steps? will we be moving on roads or through mud? is there transport for people who can't walk it? how long should I expect to be away from my medical equipment?) wheel access and car access is often treated as an optional extra. putting yourself in the line of fire is held up as the ultimate expression of Good Activism even though disabled and Mad people, as well as migrants, poorer activists and people of colour, are at much higher risk of injury, death or life-ruining consequences from arrest. similarly we laud people as Real Activists for climbing tripods and buildings and other forms of direct action that aren't possible for many people and don't give similar props to less hero-centred actions. all the time accessibility is treated as a luxurious extra that we just Don't Have Capacity For or as a Thing We're Generously Doing, not as something that like. is necessary for a diverse and thoughtful community.

"You should create for yourself" and "it's okay to feel discouraged when creating your own original projects if no one interacts with them" are two sentences that should be able to co-exist with each other
On the one hand, you should kill that capitalist in your head that tells you to make art only for the enjoyment of other people. On the other hand, it's totally fine to be disappointed that you spent hours or even days on something that only got 4 notes. You can feel both ways.

I've seen kink scenarios where one party to a relationship really wants to be the princess in some sort princess/knight dynamic and the other is too normie to properly play their part, and I agree that's funny as hell, but I think the converse scenario where the "princess" is the one who's trying to be normal about it also has legs.
