this might be too specific but i relate so i want it very badly: obi-wan experiences chronic knee/shoulder pain but hides it from everyone (especiaLLY the council) except for anakin & ahsoka & cody, that's it, and all three of them love him so much and want him to not be in pain but obi-wan hates worrying others. it just means a lot to my little pea brain
obi-wan with chronic pain (and good friends :')
Contrary to popular belief, it didn't get better.
Obi-Wan returned to duty a week after Geonosis. It would have been sooner, had Vokara Che not been so insistent, and the Council a little less willing to listen. The saber wounds from his knee and shoulder were sewn up from a healing crystal, no scar to even show for them now. Unlike Anakin, who would feel the effects of Dooku's blade for the rest of his life.
But a year into the Clone Warsāa year of watching the Republic struggle and crumble and snap, a year of watching sentient beings die at the hand of his failure, a year of knowing that any of them, any of them, could be nextāand Anakin was fighting better than he ever had. He'd blossomed, reallyāas a Jedi, a leader, a man. Sometimes, when he was sparring with Anakin, Obi-Wan forgot Geonosis had happened at all.
But not for long. Never for long.
"Sir?"
Cody was watching him nowāgoodness, he'd forgotten the Commander was there. They'd been combing through paperwork, settling the affairs of the latest campaign, and neither of them had even changed from their scorched and bloodied clothes. Obi-Wan had declined medbayāhe always did, these days. But knew he wasn't being quite as discreet as he'd hoped from the way Cody followed him down the hall, gently taking his arm when he stumbled.
Watching him with soft eyes now.
"Sir, you should sit down," Cody said. "Or go to bed. We can finish this tomorrow."
"We won't have time tomorrow," Obi-Wan replied, without looking up from the screen. With one hand, he massaged his shoulder, trying not to grimace. He leaned on one knee. "We'll be landing in Coruscant in six standard hours, and then it'll be all politics and Council business andā"
"And I can finish it myself then, is what I was getting at."
A light hand came around his back, thenānot moving him any place in particular. Just there, a gentle reminder. Soft and warm.
"I can't," Obi-Wan said softly.
"You couldn't do that to me? Sir, I'm your Marshall Commanderā"
"No," Obi-Wan said. "Well, I would hate to do that to you. But I mean...I..."
He leaned forward against the nav console. If it wasn't there, he wasn't sure if he could still hold himself up.
He closed his eyes. "I mean I couldn't sleep if I tried." Cody's hand on his back stilled. "Not the way I'm..."
Cody, behind him, finished quietly. "The way you're hurting."
Obi-Wan didn't answer.
KJEDI 21.2FM
When Anakin can't sleep - which is most of the time - he tunes in to the local college radio station, just grateful to have someone else who sounds like they're awake at the same time he is.
His favorite quickly becomes Ben Kenobi, broadcasting his show Guiding Light from the station just a few miles away every Tuesday and Thursday from two to five a.m. Ben's musical tastes are...eclectic, to say the least, but he's funny and knowledgeable and Anakin looks forwarding to listening to him every week.
...and sure, okay, maybe Anakin's got a little bit of a crush on the guy. But it's not like that's ever going to go anywhere. Anakin is busy with his job, and his kids, and Ben is just a voice on the radio. They've never crossed paths. They're never going to cross paths.
That is, at least, until one cold November morning when Ben asks anyone out there who's listening to call into the station.
Anakin can't dial the phone fast enough.
Chapter one notes and links:
-Anakin mentions a song he thinks is called "I Know This Much Is True" by Salacious Crumb, which he gets wrong on all counts: it's "True" by Spandau Ballet
-the first song Anakin hears on Obi-Wan's show (all thirty minutes of it!) is Karn Evil No. 9 by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
-Like Anakin, the first time I heard Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie (on my local public radio station, no less!) it took my breath away. I had to pull over to the side of the road and just sit there until it finished.
Chapter two is now up! Notes and links:
-The comedy bit about self-defense against different kids of fruit is a Monty Python sketch, which was originally released on a record album but later used on their TV show
-The audiobook Obi-Wan plays on-air is, in a nod to Ewan McGregor's own filmography, A Gentleman in Moscow (I like to think that Obi-Wan got his copy from the library!)
Chapter three notes and links!
-Rhapsody in Blue on a banjo is a real thing (and a ton of fun)
-The book Obi-Wan is so into that he can't stop reading long enough to do his radio show is one of my favorites, The Rook by Daniel O'Malley. I highly recommend it and if anyone has read it and wants to talk about it, hit me up!
-and, finally, the entire hour-long broadcast of The War of the Worlds from October 30, 1938
The final chapter!
I know I mentioned it earlier in this post, but my visual cues for this chapter (you'll know it when you see it, haha) were:
-the Bruce Springsteen song Obi-Wan quotes from is 'Highway Patrolman'
-Anakin never gets to hear the answer, but the CTA in question is the Chicago Transit Authority, which after their first album (and a few legal accusations, considering there is a very real Chicago Transit Authority that is not a band but the organization that handles buses and trains in the city of Chicago) got shortened to the much more famous band name Chicago (who went on to record, at current count, 37 albums, but I give you permission to stop after Chicago VII)
-In A Gadda Da Vida, all seventeen minutes of it ;)
George Lucas and Christopher Lee on the set of Star Wars II
(he technically can sort them alphabetically, but the Microspace Excel update moved that button[asajj will have to show him how])
For @christopherleefan thank you as always for being the #1 resource for ref images!

ā Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights
does Anakin ever give Obi-Wan or Ahsoka a name in Amatakka?
No. Not in canon, anyway.
Mainly because he doesnāt speak it himself anymore. Obi-Wan and Ahsoka donāt even know that Amatakka is a language that exists, or that Anakin speaks it. He spends his entire career as a Jedi trying to distance himself from his life as a slave Tatooine as much as possible.
Now, obviously, Amatakka and Tatooine culture are a huge part of the Double Agent āverse. But one of the main AU points of that āverse is the idea that Anakin went back to his roots. His reclaiming his Tatooine self is the element that creates all the other changes in that āverse. Put bluntly: Anakin is actually in touch with himself and thatās what makes it AU.
In canonā¦nope. Heās disconnected from himself and his culture. Even Padme doesnāt know much about Amatakka. (In fact, I doubt he ever mentioned it to her at all, until they found out they were going to be parents and they started thinking about names and the only names Anakin could think of, no matter how hard he tried, were Amatakka names.)
(And in the end Padme named both of her children in Amatakka: in the language of the slaves, with names that speak of freedom.)
Hello! Short question: did in Amatakka exist some sweet-between lovers-talk? Words to describe āmy loveā, āmy dearā? Long question: I wrote anidala fic (AU about war and runaway jedi!Anakin who accidentally faces politic!Padme) with Anakin who has a big connection with Tatooine culture (he even got tattoo in Amatakka) and during his interaction with Padme (they have sex eventually, duh!) he calls her ābeautiful like morning desertā, ābeloved like a drop of rainā, or something like thisā¦
Your AU sounds really interesting, anon! Is it posted anywhere, or are you still working on it? Iād love to read it. :)
As for Amatakka endearments, hmm⦠One I have used in fic before is akku, which means something like āsweetheart.ā Itās most often used by a parent speaking to a child, but it can also be an endearment between lovers.
The word nalu means soul or spirit (often appearing in compound words like bek-nalu, or soul-touch, that is, the forehead touch thatās considered one of the most intimate acts between people - it can be romantic or platonic). It could be used as an endearment as well.
Probably the most intense thing you could say to someone (and again, this could be romantic or platonic) is te masu em lukkema, which literally means āYou are my freedom,ā that is, āEven if I die a slave, I will have known what it means to be free because I knew you.ā
Sometimes I cannot believe how much I appreciate the Obikin fandom and how much itās spoiled me for giving me ridiculously charming fic, incredibly funny and hilarious fic, fic that breaks my heart, fic that heals my heart, fic that makes me want to gnaw on my own arm because Iām in awe of how amazing the authors are, how much a fic can smack my id straight on, how I can roll around in the fluff or wallow in the angst, how the fic runs the gamut of Obi-Wan and Anakinās lifetimes, whether set during the Clone Wars or during the time of the Rebellion, whether itās something nice or whether itās Anakin being all Vadery and awful, thereās always someone writing something that makes me want to barf up rainbows for how good it is. So hereās a bunch of STAR WARS fics I think everyone should read because the fandom is amazing and thereās very few things I enjoy more than the feeling of being sated on a bunch of good fic. Or lots of quality banging. Or crying about these two idiots having terrible lives. Or just crying about feelings in general because you guys are amazing at punching me right in them. WHAT KIND OF FIC YOUāLL FIND HERE:
CANON-COMPLIANT (-ISH, WHATEVER) AT LEAST UP UNTIL THE GALAXY GOES PEAR-SHAPED
FUCK THE NOISE OUT OF ANAKIN SKYWALKERāS HEAD
DARTH ASSHOLE CAT SHOULD BE GRABBED BY THE SCRUFF OF THE NECK AND SCOLDED BACK TO THE LIGHT
FUCK YOU, CANON, THINGS GO A LITTLE NICER IN THIS UNIVERSE
WORLD IS HARD AND COLD, OBIKIN FLUFF IS SOFT AND WARM
MODERN AUS CAN BE FUN AND CHARMING AS HELL AND A GREAT CHANCE TO MAP CANON DYNAMICS ONTO A WORLD WHERE THEY CAN HAVE A HAPPIER LIFE, ITāS A WIN ALL THE WAY AROUND
WHAT DID CANON EVER DO BUT BREAK OUR HEARTS ANYWAY? TIME TO TELL CANON TO FUCK OFF AND WRITE AN AU
Keep reading
Itās a Merrical!
Inspired by the fic : quiet when Iām coming home
Iāve been meaning to draw these two for a while now. Thanks @starsscarmyceiling for writing one of my fave AUs (coffee shop) and a great first chapter.

Imagine Cal getting a lot of injuries during missions and Merrin lecturing him about being reckless while nursing him with potions and wrapping his wounds while Cal just stares at her in adoration.
I had to find this post again because Iāve been thinking about how other Star Wars cast members (John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran and others) have talked about the extent to which they had to keep all Star Wars mentions from their family. They didnāt even tell anyone that theyād been *cast* in a SW film, let alone discuss any of the actual film details.
And hereās Jiang Wen, gets the super top secret script and the damn thing is written in English so naturally heās likeĀ āFFS I canāt read this!ā so he calls his boys to come and READ THE SCRIPT and get their opinion. Non-disclosure agreement be damned. lol
Another addendum: he told this story at one of the red carpet premiers, and there he adds that his son said āthis is a heroā to which he replied, ābut donāt you think superheroes are silly?ā and his son said ābut this is a humorous heroā and that was what sold him. The humor was important. <3
I love Jiang Wen.
the guy pissed off the chinese government at least once so much that they were considering banning him from directing for seven years, and likely have.Ā
ādisney told me not to do thisā probably doesnāt even register on his radar.
yāall know what day it is
āMaster and Apprentice: Nighttime Prophecies.ā
This is my second illustration for the Master and Apprentice novel. First illustration is here!
This was drawn for the scene where one evening Obi-Wan returns back to his shared quarters after a trip to the Jedi archives to translate some ancient prophecies for Qui-Gon. He didnāt particularly enjoy doing the translations, but knew it was his job to support his masters interests, so he did it without complaint. This totally wasnāt mostly drawn because of the fact that Qui Gon is described as having his hair down in this scene. Nope, lol.
There is no secret or some hidden knowledge that Jedi were created under the heavy influence of Japanese samurai culture. Space warriors, servants of the government and state. And I had a thought āWhat if make designs more eastern influenced and still GFFA ā There is result.

No One Can Kill a Jedi
Pairing: Qui-Gon Jinn X GN!Reader Warnings: Obligatory old man warning, no smut if you can believe it, lads. Word Count: Idk like 700 or smth Summary: Local Coruscant library worker thirsts after some old Jedi. A/N: I'm on my Qui-Gon bullshit and I'm taking you all down WITH ME! This takes place prior to The Phantom Menace and is pre-Obi Wan becoming Jinn's Padawan.
--
Qui-Gon Jinn was different from the other Jedi, you knew that from the moment he strode into the library on Coruscant. Knights like him were a common sight since the temple was mere blocks away, but rarely did they ever set foot in the library where you worked.
Obi-Wan, seeing the force ghost of his master in his home on Tatooine: "Master Qui-Gon! What wisdom have you brought for me?"
Force Ghost Qui-Gon, who is seeing if he can pick up a beer if he concentrates hard enough: "What?"
