Hungarian Embroidery Sampler
I finished this sampler a few years ago but have not gotten around to framing it. Each design is from a different region of Hungary. The most difficult is probably the Irasos, which has a tricky stitch. The colour schemes were chosen to suit the patterns, although many variations can be found in Hungary.
I ended up creating a little pillow that has a combination of all of these patterns ⊠more on that another time.

Romare Bearden was one of the most influential African American artists of his generation. Collage was Beardenâs primary medium and his imagery reflects a rich cultural heritage shaped by his North Carolina birthplace, his childhood exposure to artists, writers, and musicians in Harlem, and African ritual traditions.Â
