The people working on X-Men 97 want to rush to the Horsemen storyline. They’re going to do Polaris as Pestilence, to complete the package. They don’t give a shit about her at all, just about getting her from A to B, but they know they have to do a lot of superficial stuff with her first to put on the appearance of giving a shit.

At the same time, they have to play up the stakes for Xavier and Magneto, two characters they actually give a shit about instead of Lorna.

So. They do Danger.exe. An episode they can pretend is Polaris-centric but like everything else steeped in nostalgia for sexism that Marvel loves to make, is actually using her as a tool to further the stories of men.

They don’t acknowledge Lorna being a survivor of the genocide, even for a split second, because that detracts from their purpose for her.

Lorna isn’t there to be a character. She’s there to further the stories of men and look pretty. While also giving the artificial appearance of being a character before they turn her into Pestilence to further Apocalypse and Havok’s stories.

I base this theory not just on Deathbit. Or on Apocalypse figuring in season 2 heavily. I also base it on video games putting out representations of Polaris as Pestilence.

Marvel doesn’t care about her as a character. They care about how she can be exploited to extract more money from people who don’t care if she’s a character or a green-haired plot device for men. She rounds out the microtransaction package with a bonus to slipping in poor treatment of her that people don’t recognize as such cause they’re too distracted by things looking good instead of being good.
