Not sure if this is a hot take, but out of the three adaptations we've received I think the Percy Jackson musical is by far the best adaptation. The show and the movie both struggle to adapt the tone of the books, and are way too serious and dark. The musical is the perfect mix of drama and unseriousness that the books have. Also it's funny. The show just forgot to do that.

As well as that, the format of musical allows every character to sing directly about themselves, letting in character depth and understanding that's mostly skipped over or ignored in the movies and show.

A 2 hour musical gives you more insight into Percy and Annabeth's complicated relationships with their parents than a whole two seasons of the show does.
