@hallelujahtohell (kai & niamh)
Niamh had escaped the holiday madness the same way she always did: by hiding. Sheād been sketching half-heartedly, nothing finished, nothing she actually planned to keep, when she looked up and spotted a familiar face. Kai. One of the only people in town whoād actually bought one of her pieces without calling it quirky or interesting, which she appreciated more than sheād ever admit. She tapped the end of her pencil against her sketchbook, watching him approach. āIf youāve come to talk about holiday spirit,ā she said as soon as he was close enough to hear, āturn around now. I donāt have any, and Iām not borrowinā yours.ā She nodded toward the empty chair across from her. āBut if youāre here to hide from the carolers in the front, pull up a seat. Iāll pretend I didnāt see you dodginā them.ā softer but still dry. āAnd if youāre here to complain about the holidays too, even better. Misery loves company. And tea.ā Her gaze flicked to him, a tiny smirk tugging at her mouth. āAlso, donāt get weird about it, but you bought that piece from my gallery. So youāre officially one of the good ones around here.ā
