My third mermaid commission for this year’s Mermay event is here! Meet one of my wonderful friends, Eszter, whom I “cast” into a mermaid form. Her request was to base the “fish” part on a black orchid color variant of a crowntail betta — and as an aquarist, I absolutely loved this challenge. 🤩 It’s also a special joy that I managed to finish this gothic beauty on World Goth Day! 🖤

W.I.P. After the two YCH mermaids here comes a custom commission one. I already love it because it has a great theme: one of my friends asked me to draw her as a mermaid and since she's a real goth baddie, the end result can only be badass! 🌊

My illustration of author Jess Layne’s magical mermaid character is finished. A deep-sea menace at the surface! 🌊 But Mermay is far from over — I’ll do my best to bring you more artworks on this theme! 😉
