You ever just start a Nancy Drew game just cause you want the vibe. And then you don't even end up finishing the game, it's more about it keeping you warm for a moment. Like all the memories you have for each game. And when you start each one up again those memories come back to you like a warm blanket. That's the life.
To celebrate finishing all my work for the semester I made another uQuiz. Answer some dumb questions and get a SECOND CHANCE.
What other generally accepted headcanons are there for the ND games? The big one that comes to mind is Charlotte finding out that Clara was a product of incest.
More theories that may not be acknowledged in canon but are logical with a little conjecture:
SSH: the villain of scarlet hand murdered an elderly couple to get the Pacal carving back on the market. In Joanna’s office within the provenance document folder, there’s a letter that says the previous owners of the carving, an elderly couple in Connecticut, died of heat stroke due to their air conditioner breaking down in the middle of a heatwave. The culprit being connected to the art world knew who had the Pacal piece and knew the owners would be unlikely to survive if their cooling system was sabotaged.
DOG: no one poisoned Sally’s well. Arsenic is a byproduct of gold (and other ores). 600 pounds of gold bullion was hidden in a vault at the bottom of the cabin’s well for decades, so that’s why the water’s arsenic levels were toxic.
HAU: Brendan Malloy’s exploded lab in the castle was a fake one. The real lab is in the bunker below the bog. A diary in the game says Brendan gives tours to the locals in his “false” lab to put people at ease while he continued his real experiments on rocket science in the bunker. If there was nothing real about the castle lab, then how could it be dangerous enough to blow up and kill Brendan and Caitlin? Unless it was sabotaged or Brendan’s status as a double-agent was discovered and the castle was bombed by the Allies or Axis.

So last time I re-played DDI I just got. No clam chowder. None. I never got offered any. And I listened to the podcast and everyone was talking about clam chowder and it made me realize how weird it was that I never got any. There was also talk of a cupcake you can only get once, only first time if you remember to ask. I have not seen or heard about this cupcake in the game.
I traced my clam chowder failure to saying something Kaitie-aligned to Jenna, which means if you ever imply you agree with Kaitie while talking to Jenna, she will not find you worthy of her delicious treats. The food is there to change your political alliance to Jenna.
And I am in for it, so this time playing, I made sure to never, ever pick a dialogue option that would favour Katie. To hell with her, I have clam chowder to gain. Sorry Katie your stinky mayonnaise will not do. So, after trashing Katie for a tiny little bit, what happened? Not only I had clam chowder, but also, unlimited cupcakes. Thats right, I could ask Jenna for a cupcake thru the entire game, for as many times I wanted to, and I got one each time. My playing experience was greatly amplified after selling my opinion for unlimited food.

Why is my comfort game Legend of the Crystal Skull

I’m replaying SAW and I want to emphasise how much I love the music in this game. Like HER could have gone the route of making that fake “oriental” music that gets used with this sort of setting a lot but instead we get tracks that sound convincingly like traditional shamisen music, with the dark twist of being terribly distorted, that just fits the game perfectly. Then you have the upbeat pop music on the subway and the expo centre which has a kind of generic video game-y sound to it that I absolutely associate with high Japanese consumer culture? And my absolute favourite, that grinding metallic track you hear when things get ghostly that is absolutely inspired by Ju-On and Ringu and has that industrial vibe that modern Japanese horror strikes. I love it
as someone who just spent all summer being a camp counselor, I would kill to see a summer camp game where Nancy is a counselor
I could see a mini game similar to the one in CRE where Nancy needs to make friendship bracelets and necklaces omg
And they could be short staffed so she would have to also work in the camp kitchen and we could get another wonderful cooking mini game (my fave)
And like the mystery could be about the camp’s traditional ghost story coming true or something
Nancy snooping through everyone’s personal things and beds. You can push a tire swing around for no apparent reason like in ToT

I want to play all the ND games in order to be honest.
So I just finished Stay Tuned for Danger. I seriously love it just because there is a lot more sleuthing done by you rather than just fifty million puzzles (which I mean I do enjoy those as well).
Also sadly I won’t be able to do WAC or Old Clock because I can’t get Wineskin to work with them. If ya’ll got tips for that they are welcome!
I just finished Message in a Haunted Mansion. For some reason, that game always goes out of order for me because I do things too fast in it. But I never feel like I’m going to fast just stuff happens and I find things quickly…*sigh*
Still a fun game regardless, I love all the little haunts we are given in it.
Just finished Treasure in the Royal Tower.
The first time we meet Hotchkiss can’t wait to run into her in the later games like a thousand times. Also Lisa was so mean throughout the game if you didn’t give her what she wanted. Most of the characters except for Hotchkiss gave Nancy some attitude. Rood.
Just finished The Final Scene and I somehow won without getting the Houdini documents, without finding out who Brady was and I’m just so confused as to how!??!
Also there were many typos in that game XD
I finished Secret of the Scarlet Hand yesterday and forgot to update this. But that is the second time I have finished it cause last time I tried playing it, it kept messing up. So I was really happy it worked this time.
Honestly, this game is actually pretty fun in my opinion, yeah its exhausting and it took me the second longest out of the ones I’ve played so far. But I had so much fun while doing it. Also yes that text post about Nancy was inspired by this game.
I finished Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake finally! And wow, I thought it was one of the easier games but I somehow sucked so bad at it in comparison to my last attempts. I might’ve been a bit overconfident seeing as it was one of the games I finished on my own when I was younger.
Also on the topic of being nostalgic, I remember this game scaring the shit out of me.
Just finished The Haunted Carousel this is one of the easier games from the series. I finished it in less than 3 hours I believe but I enjoyed every second of it. I also think it is just one of the easier ones to solve in general??
I mean the whole game makes it real obvious who the culprit is but I seriously enjoyed it and I always have fun with the riddles. Also the award winning has begun-so for this one I won the Puzzle Master award. I can’t wait to see what award I win for the next game!
Just finished Danger on Deception Island, this is another one of my favorite games. The puzzles aren’t impossible and they are so much fun. Also, the characters are cool too. Plus the Orca is so dang cute I want to hug him.
Plus this game has one of my favorite soundtracks from the ND games it just fits the game overall so well and randomly they get stuck in my head too. Oh I got the Magellan award as well for seeing and going everywhere.
Finished The Secret of Shadow Ranch and I had so much fun replaying this one. I don’t know if it’s just the puzzles or the overall atmosphere of this game but no matter how many times I play it I love it just as much as the first time.
I really enjoy the setting and all the new places you explore in this game. I also love good ole Bob as well. It also just gets me all the more excited for Blackmoor!!
Oh and I won the Scout award-I seem to always get the ones that have to deal with going and seeing everything right now.
So I have finished Curse of Blackmoor Manor and it wasn’t as fun as I remember it being. I think I’ve played this particular game so much an so often that it isn’t as thrilling for me as it used to be. It still is probably one of the scarier games Her as produced though.
I still enjoyed playing it through though and this time around I didn’t use ANY hints which I was very proud of cause sometimes I can never get through this game without a little push in the right direction.
Also, I once again got the award for going and seeing everything and every place. Now I’ll have to see if I can get CLK to work.
So I finish Secret of the Old Clock in about 3 hours. I don’t know why I find that game to be one of the easiest but I do. I went through it way quicker than I thought I would and now I can start on one of my most favorite games the first chance I get.
This game is fun and all but it’s probably one of the ones I’ve grown the most tired of the most quickly. It’s not as fun to go back to this one especially since for some reason all the puzzles seem to be hammered into my brain sadly…playing this just made me want MID to be released that much more.
Also, I got the puzzle award for doing them real quick.
So I forgot to write this up when I finished it. I finished Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon. Still, one of my most favorite games even if I remembered basically everything from playing it so often. But it seriously has a great cast of characters, a great plot line and on top of that so many cool locations for me to explore.
Frank and Joe Hardy are so hunky in this game too ugh. Either way, I enjoyed playing this game again-I just wish wineskin would let me see the award I got with it. I won’t be able to see my awards from now on or the previews for the next games sadly.

Though that one lady in the park prices all her shit WAY too high. I hated it but oh well. This game was a pleasure to play again though once again I didn’t get to see the award I won.
Just finished Creature of Kapu Cave and I have got to say this is probably one of the least exciting games we got out there for ND. This is one of those games like MED where I really enjoy the setting and the characters but it would’ve been better used witha better case or mystery.
My main issue is that we don’t even reallly know what we are investigating till last minute and so all the puzzles and everything else seem really silly if you ask me. Because for majority of the game there really isn’t a mystery or if there is it isn’t really one that…intrigues me?
It’s just a pretty meh plotline but I enjoyed playing as Joe & Frank and I liked the forest and beach setting.
Just finished The White Wolf of Icicle Creek. This game is one of the more fun ones for me just because so much happens throughout it scenario wise. Like this is one of those games where everything revolving around Nancy is dangerous so more events happen throughout making it more fun.
However, this game also has 3 things I absolutely detest. Tino’s Survey, Cooking as a chore, and of course, the snowmobile chases…I legit hate all three with a burning passion.
Other than that this game was so much fun to go through again-also I got to see my reward and this time it was Deer Detective for doing great sleuthing. Was a bit upset that I couldn’t spur Freddie’s note to Ollie to come up but oh well-next time I guess.
Just finished one of my most favorite Nancy Drew games Legend of the Crystal Skull. Honestly, there are so many great things about this game. It’s one of those games that has all these puzzles that are actually relevant to the puzzle. They all are also not so hard that you want to give up-except for maybe one or two which are based on luck for the most part.
The game itself has an interesting premise and cool characters. I just fully enjoy the atmosphere of this game. Probably one of my most favorites. Also, I got check marks for No Clue Left Behind, Wasp Whipper, Marble Marvel, and Trivia Tamer.
Finally, I have finished Phantom of Venice and let me say this is one of my least favorite games.
Now listen I don’t hate this game by any means but goodness are the tasks boring and annoying for the most part rather than engaging and fun. Like I began this in the summer and am only now finishing it in winter. That should tell you how barely invested in this game I truly was.
The whole plot sounds interesting enough but I’m here more for the grittier mysteries-like murders and kidnappings. This giant thief ring one just doesn’t cut it for me and like I said the puzzles are lackluster and so are the characters.
I also feel like there wasn’t much to the scenery despite us being in a place that is pretty popular.
I have just finished The Haunting of Castle of Malloy!
I’m going to be real and say this is one of my favorite ND games. Honestly, I adore basically every aspect of the game. The scenery and the whole set up of the game is eerie and scenic at the same time.
Also Kit is a whole ass snack. The puzzles within the game keep you busy and occupied and some of them are easier but funny like the sheep shearing puzzle-I love that one. The drink making mini-game is fun and addictive. Literally, I don’t hate like any of the puzzles in this game.
Yeah, some of the puzzles can be a bit time consuming but it’s still a joy to accomplish each one. The characters are interesting and different. The whole story and concept is interesting and kind of crazy and that just makes the journey all the more fun in my opinion.
It’s outlandish but not TOO outlandish and seriously this game has a special place in my heart.
I just finished Ransom of the Seven Ships and I will say that this time around…I found it easier than previous times.
Maybe it was because I kind of figured out the algorithm a bit better this time around or maybe its because I cheated a bunch because I couldn’t stand to be in the game for too long-the world may never know.
I really like the setting of this game don’t get me wrong and I enjoyed this time around catching little tidbits from previous games. Like the glowing lizards from BLU and the Mayan symbols from Scarlet Hand and then, of course, the hint at WAC.
My real issue is just that everything is so…taxing. From getting to location to location to sailing, to rock climbing, to diving. It all is so much extra work and effort that really just bogs down the gaming experience. Then the lack of characters too and while it’s super cool to finally meet Bess & George it wasn’t enough to diminish the emptiness the game has for having like NO new characters.
I really just have so many issues with this game. Characters make for interesting scenes and tension building so with there being like no characters that are “suspicious” the whole game is just puzzles and excess.
So this is where WAC or Warning at Waverly Academy’s review would have been but I can’t get it to work at all and I’ve tried like 4 different wineskins. They always start seeming good then the audio cuts out, the pictures won’t stay and then like it gets really laggy and the music repeats as a result and it takes forever to move around.
It honestly sucks because this game tends to be one of my favorites and I can’t play it like I can all my other favorites. So if anyone ever finds a wineskin that fixes all the problems please hit me up.
But as for now there will be no review for this game and I’ll be moving on to game 22!
Just finished Trail of the Twister. This is one of those games that I mostly like for the atmosphere. It feels very homey and familiar to me and I just like that it’s a bit brighter and more outdoors than some of the other ND games.
It’s refreshing in other words. I also like the plot even though it does kind of drag but I guess I enjoy it mostly because there is actually a lot to it in a sense so it doesn’t feel as one track as some of the other games.
Overall it’s a fun game but not the best by any means.
I finished Shadow at the Water’s Edge a while ago and forgot to post about it. This one used to be one of my favorites and I can definitely say that I love the atmosphere and the design of the game overall. I mean the Ryokan is so gorgeous.
The convention center, the subway(?), and basically the entirety of the scenery in this game is my favorite aspect. I don’t think any of the other games can compare if I’m being honest. HER really topped themselves with this one, though the only thing I don’t like is the lack of day time.
Also this game I think is just fun in general. All the mini games, little things you can mess around with and the puzzles. It’s really one of the more well-rounded in my opinion.
Just finished The Captive Curse and I have to say this is probably my least favorite scary game that we get in this series. I feel like no matter what I don’t ever really get scared in this game so some of the effect is lost on me. I will say though that I love the characters in this game.
Not necessarily because they are great but because the plot line of the game and discoveries really help to paint the characters and give you a better idea of who and what they are. I also love the ending where we have to guess and say out loud who we think the culprit is-it made it so you really had to pay attention to all the clues you were hunting down which added a new effect.
I liked that just because it makes you feel like more of a detective. But besides that this game was just ok. Nothing really wrong with it-just not the most memorable or my favorite.
Just finished Alibi in Ashes. Now do I constantly say that so and so game was my favorite or one of my favorites? Sure I do. But do all the games just make me fall back in love with ND games each time I play them? Nah.
I don’t fully know what it is but like, every time I play this game I get so into it and get so excited. I love the fact that this one feels more like a real case where we legit collect clues and compile them against a specific person.
I love even more that we are in River Heights. I love seeing most of ND’s house and also getting to play with Bess, George, Ned and even see Bess and George (Still bitter about not getting to see Ned).
But seriously this is one of my favorite mysteries because I feel like it’s pretty high stakes and just so much fun. Is it relatively easy? Yes. But is it super atmospheric, fun and entrancing? HECK YES!
(I’ll be playing SCK remastered next because I messed up the order I think)
I finished Secrets Can Kill Remastered and it was so quick. I think I finished it in like an hour and a half. There really is nothing to this game for me. It’s quick & easy and pretty meh overall.
I’ve never played the original so I have nothing to compare to either but with what I’m given there really isn’t much to this game and I rarely, if ever, anticipate playing it or picking it up. It’s pretty forgettable.
I finished Tomb of the Last Queen and boy…I remember hating this game when it was released. But as time went on it slowly became one of those ones that I really appreciate now. I think the plot of it is super intriguing and fun, and unique.
The characters are interesting but all super suspicious and it makes the whodunnit aspect all the more intriguing. I will say I used to hate the game because to my lazy ass self they were super hard and impossible to solve.
And to be fair I do think the puzzles in this game are amongst the more challenging ones but that makes me work harder in it and enjoy the results all the more. Also this is where my favorite game design first popped up-like I’m sorry but I love it so much.
This really is a puzzle heavy game and I enjoy that, but the plot is great too.
Just finished Ghost of Thornton Hall and oof. This was the first game I think where I legit did not cheat for any of the puzzles. I don’t know how I did it but I’m impressed with myself so please don’t ruin my high.
This is one of the newer games where parts of the plot are recycled but it’s still so beyond atmospheric and fun that you can’t help but to be sucked in by the creepiness. I also seriously enjoy the haunts in this one, the only thing that kind of sucks is I feel like there aren’t many cut scenes which I often times really like in the ND games.
This one is just fun all around in a creepy way and definitely a good one for me. Loved playing it this time around and I managed to actually get most of the awards without meaning to which was also a plus.
And yes, one of them was the humanitarian one.
Just finished The Silent Spy. This is one of those games where I much prefer the game play, puzzles, location, and plot over the characters we meet-the only one that is tolerable for me was Moira. She didn’t talk around everything like every other character and it was nice for a game where no one talks to you straight.
The puzzles in this game are a bit more challenging and I like doing them but also the fucking bagpipes are too damn loud that my mom could hear them all the way downstairs from where I was upstairs in my room with the door closed. And I hated that Nancy asked the same questions about fifty different times to people who never gave a straight answer.
Also I like the entire vibe we get from this game but I kind of wish we got some Irish scenery or well more of it but the setting was stunning nonetheless-also the jam cookies are so much fucking fun to make, easily one of my more favorite cooking mini-games. Also like I said I really enjoy the plot of this game because we learn more about Nancy and her past and her family. It’s refreshing to also see Carson actually be like a real dad.
Just finished The Shattered Medallion, one of the games I constantly give flack and for once today...that might end. Now I know that is shocking. This game has a reputation for being disliked for many reasons-most I agree with but this time around I actually had a fun time playing it.
I don’t know if it’s because I actually paid attention to what was being said by Sonny and Jamila this time around or what but I finally caught on to what the point of the game is-albeit it is silly and not on par with ANY previous games it was a more light hearted mystery. That isn’t awful per say but it isn’t as gritty as you would like it to be. I mean you could even say it really wasn’t a mystery just a treasure hunt in a sense.
But that in itself is kind of fun along with the whole competition aspect of the game. The only issue is I’m super competitive and it drove me up a wall how I would basically win but also NOT. I hate that so much. But once again I feel like this game was missing a lot. I felt like they were trying to do too much all at once and therefore the game feels like a cluster fuck. I would love another game about a competition show where the contestants seem to be being sabotaged and Nancy is brought on to figure out who is doing it and why.
I would’ve loved a game that is kind of like another archeology one but this time we’re searching for alien relics. But I didn’t necessarily like the two together. I also love the setting in this game.
When you are so low on points in MED that the creators throw you a bone and leave a million 100 point cards around for you to find.

So I just finished Stay Tuned for Danger. I seriously love it just because there is a lot more sleuthing done by you rather than just fifty million puzzles (which I mean I do enjoy those as well).
Also sadly I won’t be able to do WAC or Old Clock because I can’t get Wineskin to work with them. If ya’ll got tips for that they are welcome!
I just finished Message in a Haunted Mansion. For some reason, that game always goes out of order for me because I do things too fast in it. But I never feel like I’m going to fast just stuff happens and I find things quickly…*sigh*
Still a fun game regardless, I love all the little haunts we are given in it.
Just finished Treasure in the Royal Tower.
The first time we meet Hotchkiss can’t wait to run into her in the later games like a thousand times. Also Lisa was so mean throughout the game if you didn’t give her what she wanted. Most of the characters except for Hotchkiss gave Nancy some attitude. Rood.
Just finished The Final Scene and I somehow won without getting the Houdini documents, without finding out who Brady was and I’m just so confused as to how!??!
Also there were many typos in that game XD
I finished Secret of the Scarlet Hand yesterday and forgot to update this. But that is the second time I have finished it cause last time I tried playing it, it kept messing up. So I was really happy it worked this time.
Honestly, this game is actually pretty fun in my opinion, yeah its exhausting and it took me the second longest out of the ones I’ve played so far. But I had so much fun while doing it. Also yes that text post about Nancy was inspired by this game.
I finished Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake finally! And wow, I thought it was one of the easier games but I somehow sucked so bad at it in comparison to my last attempts. I might’ve been a bit overconfident seeing as it was one of the games I finished on my own when I was younger.
Also on the topic of being nostalgic, I remember this game scaring the shit out of me.
Just finished The Haunted Carousel this is one of the easier games from the series. I finished it in less than 3 hours I believe but I enjoyed every second of it. I also think it is just one of the easier ones to solve in general??
I mean the whole game makes it real obvious who the culprit is but I seriously enjoyed it and I always have fun with the riddles. Also the award winning has begun-so for this one I won the Puzzle Master award. I can’t wait to see what award I win for the next game!
Just finished Danger on Deception Island, this is another one of my favorite games. The puzzles aren’t impossible and they are so much fun. Also, the characters are cool too. Plus the Orca is so dang cute I want to hug him.
Plus this game has one of my favorite soundtracks from the ND games it just fits the game overall so well and randomly they get stuck in my head too. Oh I got the Magellan award as well for seeing and going everywhere.
Finished The Secret of Shadow Ranch and I had so much fun replaying this one. I don’t know if it’s just the puzzles or the overall atmosphere of this game but no matter how many times I play it I love it just as much as the first time.
I really enjoy the setting and all the new places you explore in this game. I also love good ole Bob as well. It also just gets me all the more excited for Blackmoor!!
Oh and I won the Scout award-I seem to always get the ones that have to deal with going and seeing everything right now.
So I have finished Curse of Blackmoor Manor and it wasn’t as fun as I remember it being. I think I’ve played this particular game so much an so often that it isn’t as thrilling for me as it used to be. It still is probably one of the scarier games Her as produced though.
I still enjoyed playing it through though and this time around I didn’t use ANY hints which I was very proud of cause sometimes I can never get through this game without a little push in the right direction.
Also, I once again got the award for going and seeing everything and every place. Now I’ll have to see if I can get CLK to work.
So I finish Secret of the Old Clock in about 3 hours. I don’t know why I find that game to be one of the easiest but I do. I went through it way quicker than I thought I would and now I can start on one of my most favorite games the first chance I get.
This game is fun and all but it’s probably one of the ones I’ve grown the most tired of the most quickly. It’s not as fun to go back to this one especially since for some reason all the puzzles seem to be hammered into my brain sadly…playing this just made me want MID to be released that much more.
Also, I got the puzzle award for doing them real quick.
So I forgot to write this up when I finished it. I finished Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon. Still, one of my most favorite games even if I remembered basically everything from playing it so often. But it seriously has a great cast of characters, a great plot line and on top of that so many cool locations for me to explore.
Frank and Joe Hardy are so hunky in this game too ugh. Either way, I enjoyed playing this game again-I just wish wineskin would let me see the award I got with it. I won’t be able to see my awards from now on or the previews for the next games sadly.
Just finished Danger by Design. I always think for some reason that I won’t like this game then I start playing it and absolutely love it. I don’t know why I have it in my head that this is one of my least favorite games because it definitely is so much fun.
Though that one lady in the park prices all her shit WAY too high. I hated it but oh well. This game was a pleasure to play again though once again I didn’t get to see the award I won.
Just finished Creature of Kapu Cave and I have got to say this is probably one of the least exciting games we got out there for ND. This is one of those games like MED where I really enjoy the setting and the characters but it would’ve been better used witha better case or mystery.
My main issue is that we don’t even reallly know what we are investigating till last minute and so all the puzzles and everything else seem really silly if you ask me. Because for majority of the game there really isn’t a mystery or if there is it isn’t really one that…intrigues me?
It’s just a pretty meh plotline but I enjoyed playing as Joe & Frank and I liked the forest and beach setting.
Just finished The White Wolf of Icicle Creek. This game is one of the more fun ones for me just because so much happens throughout it scenario wise. Like this is one of those games where everything revolving around Nancy is dangerous so more events happen throughout making it more fun.
However, this game also has 3 things I absolutely detest. Tino’s Survey, Cooking as a chore, and of course, the snowmobile chases…I legit hate all three with a burning passion.
Other than that this game was so much fun to go through again-also I got to see my reward and this time it was Deer Detective for doing great sleuthing. Was a bit upset that I couldn’t spur Freddie’s note to Ollie to come up but oh well-next time I guess.
Just finished one of my most favorite Nancy Drew games Legend of the Crystal Skull. Honestly, there are so many great things about this game. It’s one of those games that has all these puzzles that are actually relevant to the puzzle. They all are also not so hard that you want to give up-except for maybe one or two which are based on luck for the most part.
The game itself has an interesting premise and cool characters. I just fully enjoy the atmosphere of this game. Probably one of my most favorites. Also, I got check marks for No Clue Left Behind, Wasp Whipper, Marble Marvel, and Trivia Tamer.
Finally, I have finished Phantom of Venice and let me say this is one of my least favorite games.
Now listen I don’t hate this game by any means but goodness are the tasks boring and annoying for the most part rather than engaging and fun. Like I began this in the summer and am only now finishing it in winter. That should tell you how barely invested in this game I truly was.
The whole plot sounds interesting enough but I’m here more for the grittier mysteries-like murders and kidnappings. This giant thief ring one just doesn’t cut it for me and like I said the puzzles are lackluster and so are the characters.
I also feel like there wasn’t much to the scenery despite us being in a place that is pretty popular.
I have just finished The Haunting of Castle of Malloy!
I’m going to be real and say this is one of my favorite ND games. Honestly, I adore basically every aspect of the game. The scenery and the whole set up of the game is eerie and scenic at the same time.
Also Kit is a whole ass snack. The puzzles within the game keep you busy and occupied and some of them are easier but funny like the sheep shearing puzzle-I love that one. The drink making mini-game is fun and addictive. Literally, I don’t hate like any of the puzzles in this game.
Yeah, some of the puzzles can be a bit time consuming but it’s still a joy to accomplish each one. The characters are interesting and different. The whole story and concept is interesting and kind of crazy and that just makes the journey all the more fun in my opinion.
It’s outlandish but not TOO outlandish and seriously this game has a special place in my heart.
I just finished Ransom of the Seven Ships and I will say that this time around…I found it easier than previous times.
Maybe it was because I kind of figured out the algorithm a bit better this time around or maybe its because I cheated a bunch because I couldn’t stand to be in the game for too long-the world may never know.
I really like the setting of this game don’t get me wrong and I enjoyed this time around catching little tidbits from previous games. Like the glowing lizards from BLU and the Mayan symbols from Scarlet Hand and then, of course, the hint at WAC.
My real issue is just that everything is so…taxing. From getting to location to location to sailing, to rock climbing, to diving. It all is so much extra work and effort that really just bogs down the gaming experience. Then the lack of characters too and while it’s super cool to finally meet Bess & George it wasn’t enough to diminish the emptiness the game has for having like NO new characters.
I really just have so many issues with this game. Characters make for interesting scenes and tension building so with there being like no characters that are “suspicious” the whole game is just puzzles and excess.
So this is where WAC or Warning at Waverly Academy’s review would have been but I can’t get it to work at all and I’ve tried like 4 different wineskins. They always start seeming good then the audio cuts out, the pictures won’t stay and then like it gets really laggy and the music repeats as a result and it takes forever to move around.
It honestly sucks because this game tends to be one of my favorites and I can’t play it like I can all my other favorites. So if anyone ever finds a wineskin that fixes all the problems please hit me up.
But as for now there will be no review for this game and I’ll be moving on to game 22!
Just finished Trail of the Twister. This is one of those games that I mostly like for the atmosphere. It feels very homey and familiar to me and I just like that it’s a bit brighter and more outdoors than some of the other ND games.
It’s refreshing in other words. I also like the plot even though it does kind of drag but I guess I enjoy it mostly because there is actually a lot to it in a sense so it doesn’t feel as one track as some of the other games.
Overall it’s a fun game but not the best by any means.
I finished Shadow at the Water’s Edge a while ago and forgot to post about it. This one used to be one of my favorites and I can definitely say that I love the atmosphere and the design of the game overall. I mean the Ryokan is so gorgeous.
The convention center, the subway(?), and basically the entirety of the scenery in this game is my favorite aspect. I don’t think any of the other games can compare if I’m being honest. HER really topped themselves with this one, though the only thing I don’t like is the lack of day time.
Also this game I think is just fun in general. All the mini games, little things you can mess around with and the puzzles. It’s really one of the more well-rounded in my opinion.
Just finished The Captive Curse and I have to say this is probably my least favorite scary game that we get in this series. I feel like no matter what I don’t ever really get scared in this game so some of the effect is lost on me. I will say though that I love the characters in this game.
Not necessarily because they are great but because the plot line of the game and discoveries really help to paint the characters and give you a better idea of who and what they are. I also love the ending where we have to guess and say out loud who we think the culprit is-it made it so you really had to pay attention to all the clues you were hunting down which added a new effect.
I liked that just because it makes you feel like more of a detective. But besides that this game was just ok. Nothing really wrong with it-just not the most memorable or my favorite.
Just finished Alibi in Ashes. Now do I constantly say that so and so game was my favorite or one of my favorites? Sure I do. But do all the games just make me fall back in love with ND games each time I play them? Nah.
I don’t fully know what it is but like, every time I play this game I get so into it and get so excited. I love the fact that this one feels more like a real case where we legit collect clues and compile them against a specific person.
I love even more that we are in River Heights. I love seeing most of ND’s house and also getting to play with Bess, George, Ned and even see Bess and George (Still bitter about not getting to see Ned).
But seriously this is one of my favorite mysteries because I feel like it’s pretty high stakes and just so much fun. Is it relatively easy? Yes. But is it super atmospheric, fun and entrancing? HECK YES!
(I’ll be playing SCK remastered next because I messed up the order I think)
I finished Secrets Can Kill Remastered and it was so quick. I think I finished it in like an hour and a half. There really is nothing to this game for me. It’s quick & easy and pretty meh overall.
I’ve never played the original so I have nothing to compare to either but with what I’m given there really isn’t much to this game and I rarely, if ever, anticipate playing it or picking it up. It’s pretty forgettable.
I finished Tomb of the Last Queen and boy…I remember hating this game when it was released. But as time went on it slowly became one of those ones that I really appreciate now. I think the plot of it is super intriguing and fun, and unique.
The characters are interesting but all super suspicious and it makes the whodunnit aspect all the more intriguing. I will say I used to hate the game because to my lazy ass self they were super hard and impossible to solve.
And to be fair I do think the puzzles in this game are amongst the more challenging ones but that makes me work harder in it and enjoy the results all the more. Also this is where my favorite game design first popped up-like I’m sorry but I love it so much.
This really is a puzzle heavy game and I enjoy that, but the plot is great too.
Just finished Ghost of Thornton Hall and oof. This was the first game I think where I legit did not cheat for any of the puzzles. I don’t know how I did it but I’m impressed with myself so please don’t ruin my high.
This is one of the newer games where parts of the plot are recycled but it’s still so beyond atmospheric and fun that you can’t help but to be sucked in by the creepiness. I also seriously enjoy the haunts in this one, the only thing that kind of sucks is I feel like there aren’t many cut scenes which I often times really like in the ND games.
This one is just fun all around in a creepy way and definitely a good one for me. Loved playing it this time around and I managed to actually get most of the awards without meaning to which was also a plus.
And yes, one of them was the humanitarian one.
Just finished The Silent Spy. This is one of those games where I much prefer the game play, puzzles, location, and plot over the characters we meet-the only one that is tolerable for me was Moira. She didn’t talk around everything like every other character and it was nice for a game where no one talks to you straight.
The puzzles in this game are a bit more challenging and I like doing them but also the fucking bagpipes are too damn loud that my mom could hear them all the way downstairs from where I was upstairs in my room with the door closed. And I hated that Nancy asked the same questions about fifty different times to people who never gave a straight answer.
Also I like the entire vibe we get from this game but I kind of wish we got some Irish scenery or well more of it but the setting was stunning nonetheless-also the jam cookies are so much fucking fun to make, easily one of my more favorite cooking mini-games. Also like I said I really enjoy the plot of this game because we learn more about Nancy and her past and her family. It’s refreshing to also see Carson actually be like a real dad.
The main reason I started that long reblog chain for me reviewing each game I replayed in order was so I could eventually get to MID and review that-but I guess that can’t happen since my MAC is too old for it.
So I’ll just use it to make a ranking of the games based on my current tastes. I already began writing some stuff down and fuck is it going to be a rough list to make.
