I ain't got no home, ain't got no shoes Ain't got no money, ain't got no class Ain't got no skirts, ain't got no sweater Ain't got no perfume, ain't got no bed Ain't got no man Ain't got no mother, ain't got no culture Ain't got no friends, ain't got no schoolin' Ain't got no love, ain't got no name Ain't got no ticket, ain't got no token Ain't got no god Hey, what have I got? Why am I alive, anyway? Yeah, what have I got Nobody can take away? Got my hair, got my head Got my brains, got my ears Got my eyes, got my nose Got my mouth, I got my smile I got my tongue, got my chin Got my neck, got my boobies Got my heart, got my soul Got my back, I got my sex I got my arms, got my hands Got my fingers, got my legs Got my feet, got my toes Got my liver, got my blood I've got life, I've got my freedom I've got life I've got the life And I'm going to keep it I've got the life

Up! up! my Friend, and quit your books; Or surely youβll grow double: Up! up! my Friend, and clear your looks; Why all this toil and trouble?
The sun above the mountainβs head, A freshening lustre mellow Through all the long green fields has spread, His first sweet evening yellow.
Books! βtis a dull and endless strife: Come, hear the woodland linnet, How sweet his music! on my life, Thereβs more of wisdom in it.
And hark! how blithe the throstle sings! He, too, is no mean preacher: Come forth into the light of things, Let Nature be your teacher.
She has a world of ready wealth, Our minds and hearts to blessβ Spontaneous wisdom breathed by health, Truth breathed by cheerfulness.
One impulse from a vernal wood May teach you more of man, Of moral evil and of good, Than all the sages can.
Sweet is the lore which Nature brings; Our meddling intellect Mis-shapes the beauteous forms of things:β We murder to dissect.
Enough of Science and of Art; Close up those barren leaves; Come forth, and bring with you a heart That watches and receives.
Josef Albers, Study for Homage to the Square, 1964, oil on fibreboard, 76.2 x 76.2 cm, Tate Modern, London. Source

This is a very beige piece from the Italian still life painter Giorgio Morandi, though there is something soothing about the compositionβs simplicity. It is safe and harmonious, with no destructive colours or shapes; the more I look at it, the more I rather like it.
