It's a 5+1 of times Alex expresses his gender publicly and once privately, this is from the +1 section:

Out of all the changes Alex had made to his wardrobe this was the one she was most hesitant of. Wearing a dress to a red tie event where all the world could see her, that was terrifying, yes. But this garment, this was just for him and Henry. There was an element of pressure that Alex couldn't shake.

He'd been looking on a site Nora recommended for underwear for gender non-conforming people. The cornflower blue silk combined with the white lace had instantly enticed her. 

Now she stood in front of the mirror, studying her body in a negligee. A soft lamp and a few candles lit her skin with a warm glow. His waist was accentuated and the fabric covered just enough of her ass to make it as delectable as possible.

“Are you planning to tell anyone else?” “I’ve been thinking about telling Raf, I want him to know from me and not from the press, or social media,” Alex says, then he takes a deep breath. “And maybe abuelita?”  “You want to tell abuelita?” Alex has thought about this, his extended family, their abuela and their tíos, his biggest connection to Mexico, to Spanish. He never had the opportunity to come out when the emails leaked, before he could be prepared to say it his words had already been translated and plastered all over Facebook (Alex’s tías’ favorite “news site” not that it was any of that really) So he wants to take the chance now, to get the opportunity to do something on his own terms, he doesn’t think—or at least he hopes—his family won’t support him, he’s prepared for them to not understand at first, but Alex knows they will make an effort, at least most of them, because they love him. He just hopes love is enough.

When Henry met Alex, he found a love he’d never known possible. One he’d never thought he deserved. But the point remains that Alex loves Henry—Henry the man-with-a-capital M. Henry the recently ex-prince of England’s hearts. A man with a mouthwatering shoulder to waist ratio. A man who wears perfectly tailored suit jackets and has a cropped, princely haircut.

Would Alex still look at Henry with those hearts in his eyes if he knew? If he knew about Henry’s secret desires. If he knew Henry wants to grow his hair out, paint his nails, see what it feels like to wear women’s underwear.

Not off to great start, then. Alex wasn't sure why she had thought this would be a good idea when Zahra had plenty of reasons not to like her. From expressing her frustration about the chosen productions to sneaking out past curfew the one year Zahra was her housemother, Alex had found many ways to inadvertently earn the dean's ire. But she still had to try. "I mean, I'm not not here are about that—" she began, and Zahra started to close the door with a truly impressive eye roll. But before she could, Alex jammed a foot in the gap. "I'm here about audition feedback! I don't need a lot—just five minutes of your time? I promise I won't bother you after that." Zahra looked at Alex for a long moment, then let out a long suffering sigh. "Fine. But you get exactly five minutes, no more."

Alex can't stop staring at herself in the mirror. All these changes that she's worked so hard for have led up to this moment, and now, she's afraid the people she loves won't accept her for who she is now. Sure, she's still the same person, still the Alex who jumps into everything headfirst without thinking, still the one who hyperfixates on the littlest things- but will others see that? 

“Love, you look beautiful.”

Well, one person might. 

“You really think so?” Alex asks, feeling a blush rise to her cheeks. She definitely didn't used to blush much.

From an upcoming fic for the @rwrbgenderfunkyfest - Bigender Henry, set in the future!

The book comes in the mail.

Gone are the days where they had to have someone inspect their mail for anything threatening and now Henry enjoys the moment when he can open a package all on his own. He holds the box and examines the return address, not recognizing it but knowing that doesn’t mean much, given the books he’s asked to review these days. He squints at it, telling himself that he doesn’t need glasses - no matter what Alex says.

This week I'm switching gears and starting a new-ish wip for @rwrbgenderfunkyfest featuring a capella and both a gender and sexuality crisis for Alex. I'm currently writing it in third person so there's a bit of pronoun wonkiness going on as Alex works things out. Here though Alex still identifies as a woman and uses she/hers so that's what I'm going with right now (also fun fact that the original story this au is based on actually is set at a school with Kensington being part of its hyphenate name which is a fun coincidence)

"Fuck!" Alex ripped out her ear buds and threw them down onto her desk. She let her head fall into her hands, tangling her fingers in her freshly straightened hair and tugging at the roots. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." Then, for good measure, she grabbed her planner and hurled it across her dorm room. It thunked against the opposite wall before falling to the floor. But the outburst did nothing to ease her frustration. None of this was the source of her anger. Truthfully, Alex had been in a foul mood since this morning. Callbacks for the musical had been posted today, and her name had been noticeably absent. Not that that was a surprise—in all the years she had been at Kensington Academy for the Performing Arts, Alex had rarely gotten more than an ensemble part. And today she hadn't even gotten that much. Alex had hoped school work would be a good distraction from the fresh sting of failure reverberating in her heart. Unfortunately, her mind was unable to let it go, compulsively picking at the scab over and over so it would never heal.

I've already shared a few snippets from my trans!Alex Fandom Trumps Hate fic, which I am SO fucking excited about—but I've also taken my usual batshit chaotic approach of 'just write stuff as inspiration hits and fit it all together later', and I realised a not-insignificant period of time into doing this that I'd written some stuff that was inherently contradictory. But I also LOVED it all and didn't wanna give anything up... so long story short, now I have TWO trans!Alex WIPs 🤣 One is the longer, more Big Feelings fic for FTH... and the other is this, which will be a bit shorter. And pornier. I mean, they'll both have porn and feelings, because I am who I am, but... you know. Let's fucking go. (I might try to smash this one out for @rwrbgenderfunkyfest if I can!)

“Jesus fuck, sweetheart.” Alex buries one hand in his own curls as he comes down, the other resting on the top of Henry’s head, who has only moved far enough away to press soft kisses to Alex’s thigh. Henry’s face is a fucking mess, and he looks… well, he would say Henry looks unduly proud of himself, except for the fact that his knees currently have the approximate consistency and weight-bearing capabilities of a particularly booze-heavy jello shot, so really, Henry’s earned the smugness that’s radiating out of every pore. “That was—” “Yes, it was rather.” Henry smirks, his eyes locked on Alex’s as he flattens it, dragging it up towards his hip before planting a hard, toothy kiss there. His hand slides up Alex’s other leg until his thumb is resting at the edge of the scar above Alex’s pubic bone, and Alex reads the question in his eyes half a second before he voices it. “May I?” Alex blinks. In his experience, people tend to ignore his scars completely during sex, even if they have practical questions about the equipment. But Henry’s already sucked him off until he saw God—if he gets any better at it, Alex might die. “If you want.” Henry’s smile softens into something sweet and hopeful and breathtaking, and then he leans forward to press an almost unbearably gentle kiss to the raised skin there. “Christ, you’re beautiful.” It’s so quiet, Alex isn’t sure he was meant to hear it at all.
