it's a mid show, it's my favorite show, it crams too many storylines together in an episode. it's ridiculous it's meaningful. it handles relationships brilliantly, it fails at pacing, it shows grief in a true light and drags it out interminably. it's doing a groundbreaking queer slow burn, it's stringing us along.i love it i hate it. my special little show is so goodbad and i love it so much

i also think it’s sooooo so interesting when eddie calls chris “my kid” when talking to buck because he doesn’t do it often, but when he does it always feels so pointed because it’s said in a context of like - trying to put intentional distance between them? like “my kid loves her” <- defensive about ana but trying to convince himself and buck that he wants to still be with her. “just roughhousing with my kid” <- fresh off grocery store divorce and still kind of mad at buck but also trying to hide the fact that he’s started illegally street fighting as a way to deal with his shannon anger/grief

welcome back eddie diaz using the passive aggression that you learned from your mother aka the world champ of being passive aggressive <3 but when you called chris “my son” while turning buck down for halloween plans, why? was it a throwaway line or are you angry about something? what is it this time and/or why are you and buck pushing each other away and fighting without actually fighting? and why can’t you make eye contact with each other and why are you scene mirroring your season 3 divorce and why are we going back to the divorce store at some point this season and why are you barely speaking to each other????????? is it about bobby? is it about grief? is it about unresolved tension from the end of last season? is it about buck moving out? did something happen that we don’t know about yet? girl what is going ON????

actually genuinely obsessed with s9 buck buckley. he's simultaneously self-isolating and clinging to his friends. he has nowhere to put his grief over a man who's position in his life was somehow the most clear yet indefinable thing. he's got his curl routine down to an art. his major pastime is lying on a baby's floor and traumadumping. he's sleeping with both halves of a couple. he's on the cusp of realizing why he's never been normal about his best friend a day in his entire life all while not being normal about his best friend a day in his life. he's watching the bachelor weekly.

possibly hot take, but if/when they resurrect bobby, i would love it they didn't have athena's reaction be anger (which imo makes sense and obviously angela bassett would eat that storyline). i'd love if she just got to be happy lmao and maybe consider a career change. what i'd love to see is if BUCK is angry when bobby comes back. because bobby MADE him leave. buck took eddie wondering if he (eddie) could have done anything to save bobby, is because buck didn't. he didn't do everything he could to save bobby! bobby asked him not to! he asked buck to be strong, to take care of his team, and to let bobby have time with his wife. and we've seen how much buck is struggling, so imagine the ANGST if bobby comes back and instead of uncomplicated relief to have him back, buck is struggling to forgive him. for leaving, for telling buck to respect his wishes and let him die, for putting the weight of the team on his shoulders (in buck's mind). the angst!! there hasn't been a buck-bobby conflict since the lawsuit really, but they have such a good dynamic and its SOOO good and compelling to watch it come under pressure. also chim could be brought in as a parallel, given his anger with bobby pre-resurrection but i feel like given maddie and his kids it's harder for him to hold his anger once bobby is back (or give me a full buck chim storyline where they bond in a weirdly toxic way over bobby coming back, that would SLAP). ALSO!!! wouldn't it be convenient if there was another recent complicated father-son conflict that the show never fully resolved?? wouldn't it be interesting if there was someone who could relate to buck feeling betrayed by his father's actions?? or a father who could relate to bobby's catholic upbringing and sense of guilt over his son specifically, even though he never meant to hurt him?? wouldn't that be crazy

i’m back here again, because a potential bobby amnesia plot would EAT with this storyline too. imagine bobby having to learn about himself and his past all over - about his childhood and his first family and then his time in la - and struggling so much because he’s done awful things. give me a bobby that’s not our bobby, not at first anyway, one that feels like something out of buck’s coma dream, one that doesn’t like our bobby. give me a bobby with no memories who buck keeps his distance from because he’s so angry and maybe the others try to tell bobby who buck is to him but how can they explain that properly when the man they say is like his son can’t stand to speak to him. then give me a fight between buck and bobby who’s back but not our bobby, but maybe he really is our bobby, we’ve just forgotten what he was like before the 118 because he keeps his self-loathing inside until it nearly kills him. for the first time since they’ve known him they’re seeing it all raw and maybe this man who’s not his son but looks like him anyway, who’s more than an employee but who seems to hate him is the final straw. guve me a bobby who thinks that of course this is his kid, because of course his kid hates him. give me buck finally breaking down because he never said it back, because bobby made him leave, because he lost the only father who ever loved him and his home in one fell swoop. give me new/old/alive bobby finally understanding, maybe even finally remembering and finally accepting - and finally coming home, because his kid is mad and his kid is heartbroken and it’s the missing piece he needed for everything to click back into place
