just remembered that the first line of the Pure Heroine album is “don’t you think that it’s boring how people talk” and the last line of the last song is “let them talk” so i’ll be spending 5-7 business days in recovery

i just think it takes gritted teeth to know happiness can’t be always be two steps ahead or in a year or in the spring or when every terrible thing is over and that is has to grow back centimeter by centimeter and you don’t even see it until you’re alone in the kitchen or in the street and you find that you’re a little less afraid of this terrible thing for which you have no name.

sometimes i think about how phoebe says “open heart, open container” in scott street and it feels like finally being okay with feeling all of the things you told yourself you wouldn’t and missing people and missing the kid you used to be and letting yourself be so sad but having that realization that you’re here and you kept going, knowing that sometimes you have to walk away and have that ache in your chest, and it’s okay because that means you’ve loved so hard and deep that it doesn’t go away when you say goodbye.
