Given that Lockwood didn't recognise Barnes in the first episode, he must have been dealing with at least one other DEPRAC agent before that. I have brainstormed some possibilities as to what might have happened:
Lockwood and George were dealing with lots of different DEPRAC agents over the three months because Barnes is the only one willing to put up with them for more than one case
Their previous DEPRAC contact, who was very fond of them, died very tragically and Lockwood doesn’t like to talk about it
Their previous contact quit the moment he learnt Lockwood and Co were hiring more agents because two is bad enough
I would love to meet the DEPRAC agent who looked at Lockwood and George and decided not only should they be running an agency but that they are trustworthy enough to be put on an insurance scheme.
