Bam Iβm BSD trash now
Do care + did ask + please don't stop talking + kissing you + kissing you + kissing you + kissing you + kissing you + kissing you + kissing you
that crunchy vibe that 70s/80s movies have that modern movies simply cannot captureβ¦ that kind of quiet empty vibe to em that can be played for either bleakness or a peaceful energyβ¦ why do all modern movies (even the great and pretty ones) feel overproduced after watching an older film. what is it I canβt put my finger on it but itβs there I can feel it
Shot on film
No digital colour grading (todayβs films are horribly over processed)
No in-the-computer composite layered scenes with virtual sets etc.
practical sets and effects
hand painted mattes / hand animated vfx
You used the light you had instead of endlessly tweaking it
Sociologically, people stopped going to movies as much in the late 1960s / early 70s because television had really taken off, the era of the βtv movieβ started, so studios greenlit a lot of low budget auteur films that had to focus on meaning & relationships instead of spectacle.
8. Pacing.
This is the biggest thing, and itβs not even something most people will even realize theyβre noticing. Movies became more uniform in their structure, as hollywood found the βformulaβ for a hit movie. It means you lose quiet, peaceful scenes that donβt fit into the pattern. That uniformity has done more to hurt the emotional tone of films than any visual effects tricks.
If youβve gone to the movies recently, you may have felt a strangely familiar feeling: Youβve seen this movie before. Not this exact movie,
In 2005, Blake Snyder released a book: Save the Cat! It discussed movie βbeatsβ and and gave an outline for movie pacing.
That outline has been followed like itβs religious dogma for the majority of Hollywood movies ever since. Itβs enough that you can literally count the minutes in movies and say βok, here comes the antagonistβs big move.β
itβs not just pacing but alsoΒ average shot length (sometimes shortened toΒ βASL,β but not to be confused with american sign language.) a movie that only cuts every 12 seconds is gonna feel drastically different from a movie that cuts every 2.5 seconds.

fucked up how colors look different depending on what screen youβre looking at them on. that should be illegal I think
this fucking shit, you know
I spend so much time carefully picking and adjusting the colors in every single drawing I make that Iβd probably lose my mind if I didnβt just repeatedly push this out of my memory and pretend itβs not a thing. Why am I reblogging a blank empty post that doesnβt say anything??? Weird
good news! you canβt make sure that everyone will see the correct colors on their own device, but you can make sure your monitor is as accurate as possible for printing and sharing by calibrating it!Β
there are a bunch of free monitor tests, but hereβs an easy oneΒ you can use. the passmark and eizo tests are also pretty good, though passmark doesnβt work in your browser. be warned that some tests may cause eye strain.
you can either use the settings built into your monitor itself or use the display color calibration settings in your operating system to adjust the settings until everything looks correct, and then enjoy your accurate colors.

Photographers, too. Color calibrate your monitors if you intend to print or sell your work. Thereβs a ton of info out there for this.
like/reblog if u use

mutuals let's sit at the end of the dock and splash our feet in the water while we watch the sunset
anyone else ever finish a fic and you get that empty feeling and remember that you read these because you enjoy reading people living a life you wish you have, because you enjoy reading people making relationships and bettering themselves and it just makes you sad because the characters arenβt real, and you wish they were. But they arenβt and your just the same lonley person you were when you started the fic.
or i am just being dramatic lol
Over five hundred people can relate to this yeah I don't think you're being dramatic lol

Takes me like fifteen business days to watch one 30 minute episode of a Netflix show and it takes me 10 minutes to watch a 3 hour YouTube video essay.
DAZAI DOESNT REALLY ALLOW you to wear his clothing, βfraid the smell would be unpleasant. the mix of smoky cigarettes and bitter alcohol filled your nose. the strong metallic smell of blood being unable to be washed off by any means. he does silently feel guilty when you do wear it, a bit hesitant once you do have it around your shoulders. he smiled and laughed it off, complementing how it looks better on you than on himself.
