I feel like this confirms Elucien for me. Ahhhhh Iām so excited for their story!!!!! They are going to grow and heal together, which Iām so happy about it sounds beautiful anddddds thereās going to be tensionnnn!!
I have a total of exactly one thing to say about the ship war between Elriel and Gwynriel. Everything else is entirely my opinion and will be kept my own.
This concept that itās āmisogynisticā to ship Elain with Lucien (or anyone else with Az besides Elain) is bugging me. Do I see the point about Elain needing to be able to make her own choice? Obviously, absolutely. Does that mean she can make only one single choice and it better not be Lucien because then it would be the wrong choice? Uhā¦no.
Hereās where this also falls apart: Elain has repeatedly, in canon, stated that she wants a quiet, simple life. This is not wrong. This is Elain Archeron making a choice for herself. Thatās what we want, yes? Well, why do some of yāall then whip around with these theories thatĀ āOh! Elain is going to be a spy like Az and murder people and learn to fight and all that!ā
I know this is a small margin of Elriels, but this is as harmful as some of the language thatās been thrown about regarding Gwynās trauma. And I feel it needs to be pointed out.
Elain, as a woman, needs to be making her own choices. And she has. She has chosen a quiet, simple life - and to demand she gives all of that up for a man (especially with the whole āHeās broken and dark and needs herā concept thrown in the mix) is simply not a better alternative to misogyny at all. Suggesting a woman must change who she is and how she lives to fit the perfect mold of a man is justā¦no.
Allow Elain to make a choice. More importantly, allow her to make a choice that is hers and not her love interestās.

Riddle me this, if SJM had planned for Az and Elain to be endgame from book 1 and she had slowly been building their relationship up to this over the course of 4 books, why did she write a s*x scene between Azriel, Nesta and Cassian?? If Azriel is in love or almost in love with Elain like the E/riels are saying, why was he supposed to sleep with her sister? Because he doesnāt peg me as the sort of guy who sleeps with your sister while heās in love with you. And I really donāt think Elain would be ok with a guy sheās supposedly in love with sleeping with her sister. And please donāt start grasping straws by saying SJM lied to us when she said that her editor made her take it out because it was to graphic and that she really took it out because she decided she wanted E/riel to happen, yāall if that was the case I seriously doubt she would have told us about that scene in the first place, knowing she would just have to lie to us.
