being an ace man from the 30's, Alastor pushes himself beyond what he is comfortable with even when he has a partner that has helped him understand what asexuality is, but lucky for him, Charlie is very perceptive and always provides a safe space for him when he no longer feels comfortable with the situation

Alastor's asexuality is so precious to me (as someone who's aroace) so i wanted to explore some of the more vulnerable sides of it with one of my fave ships

My favorite headcanon is that Charlie and Alastor are insufferable to be around once they get together.

They don't kiss much in public and seldom do they call each other pet names (Alastor at most calls her my dearest or darling but even then there isn't an emphasis put on the name and Charlie herself really only sticks to Al. )

But they're always breaking out into songs--something people were already accustomed to with Charlie, and admittedly people thought there would be less of it seeing as her partner was the actual radio demon who wasn't a person you'd associate with the word 'fun'--

But nope.

Now she has a duet and he turns it into a whole production just for her and for himself too, he likes to show off and then he even gets her to start dancing more as well,

He didn't snuff out her fire like people had anticipated he fanned it. Enthusiastically.

She didn't melt his thorns she just navigated around them. Effortlessly.

Always singing and always dancing, always entranced with each other and always so clearly disgustingly in love

Shortly after the SOLDIER program was developed, scientists noticed a biological shift within those that had received the mako treatment. With changes in behaviour, and in some cases, altered reproductive systems, three types of SOLDIERS could be distinguished; Alphas, Betas and Omegas.

Cloud Strife is an Omega, which is the rarest of the three. Already struggling to adjust to his newfound reflexes, he has to deal with the other, unpleasant side effects of being an Omega. When Cloud’s first heat takes hold, the Alphas closest to him turn into a pack of testosterone-charged, snarling wolves. All of them are hell-bent on becoming his mate, and poor Cloud finds himself wondering where it all went wrong.

really wish Alastor's reason for staying in the hotel was still purely for entertainment value (and Charlie) like in the pilot. It was a neat little subversion that for such a creepy guy with an ominous backstory that you'd expect he'd only be there for nefarious purposes but no he's just there for a good laugh (and Charlie). It also made it seem really sweet in a way that out of all the demons that saw the live interview, he was the one who saw potential in her, found her the most entertaining thing in years and it really says a lot considering he went straight for the hotel not nearly hours later, memorized her entire song from one take from the interview, recorded it for snippets of her voice to play when he was looking at the royal family portrait when his eyes dropped to her and created a whole reprise of her song to dress her up and dance with her. Pilot Alastor was so obviously smitten with her and wish he brought that goofy, infatuated energy with him in the show.

PLEEEASE pilot!charlastor is my roman empire the way alastor was so smitten with charlie and went to such lengths to just charm her ...

regardless of his ulterior motives, the fact that he really did just see one clip of charlie and immediately move in with her is canon, and they can pry that from my cold dead hands, but i absolutely love how just ... completely over the top he was with her. because alastor is a flamboyant and dramatic guy, but within his first meeting with charlie, he's bringing out all the magic. he's singing and dancing with her, he's complimenting her, he's showing an interest in her we just don't see him give anyone else. he gets her down to her core, and shows that within ten seconds of meeting her, and why wouldn't he? she's genuinely herself, even if others disdain her, with the power to be cruel and choosing instead to be kind; she's energetic and fun and prone to the same song and dance he is, and alastor must have written mrs charlie the radio demon in his notes a hundred thousand times since he met her.

Someone said the killing of the villain in The Poet Empress was anticlimactic or something and I had to take a minute because I really wasn't sure who the reviewer was referring to as the villain. There are definitely ANTAGONISTS who are pretty villainous, but the point of the whole book is that these are people also failed and shaped by The System/Nation.

The villain is the concept of Nation, and how complicated that becomes, because you have to love the people within Nation (arguably what most would consider Nation, and also arguably the problem is when you Stop Seeing It That Way) and understand it in order to destroy Nation, even slowly.

You have to love it to kill it

It's the entire point of the book

But this person thought one of the princes (they didn't even specify which one in the review!) was the villain. And killing him was anticlimactic.

The (antagonist) princes are relatively interchangeable role wise, even if not on a personal level. That's the point.
