Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.

I saw the trailer and felt my eyes glazing over. I'm sure this film is very good, but Nolan has just been making this movie again and again and I'm not a big fan. He's just painted it in Ancient Greece this time.

when jon asks about his poetry and hes like i havent exactly had a lot of time recently and its like. that may be true but its obviously more than that. like theres always talk (and this idea has become less en vogue in circles adjacent to me over the last decade but it is by no means gone) of creative geniuses throughout history being so good bc they were mentally ill but in reality its actually unbelievable how difficult it is to make art when youre deeply depressed. its one thing to write a poem when youre sad bc youre, For Example, pining after your boss who hates you, but its another thing entirely to write a poem when youre actively, deliberately cutting yourself off from the world and your own emotions. where does the poetry come from if you cant dig your hands in and pull it out of the world or your emotions. and why would you even care about poetry if its not for and from the world and your emotions. and how do you begin to heal if you cant access the world and your emotions. and and and

You know, when I've remarked that a lot of the responses to my posts feel like people are just plucking out keywords they think they recognise based on the shape of them and replying to what they imagine the post says based on that, the possibility never occurred to me that this is actually how many American schools are currently teaching kids to read.

Like, my assumption this whole time has been that when folks go "I misunderstood this post that says [thing] as saying [unrelated thing] because I mistook [word] for [completely different word that happens to start with the same letter]", that was a bit. What do you mean they're teaching kids a reading method that's tailored to produce this exact error?

6 hour workday maximum i’m not kidding, if it can’t be done in that timeframe it doesn’t need doing.

If i worked in childcare and my 6 hours were up i would start putting babies in ziploc bags and shipping them to Turkmenistan listed as endangered fruits and vegetables
