A Zelgan Week Day 3 One-Shot

Written for Day 3: Possession / Weakness, because anyone trying to possess Zelda is a weak bastard, and her hot new husband knows better.

“I found a collection of letters from noblemen around Hyrule, each one outlining proposed terms of marriage.” She stared into the scarlet pool of her wine glass, feeling a flush of humiliation blossom up from her clavicle. “Twenty-seven attempts to buy a princess.”

The sentence settled somewhere in the middle of the table, near the arranged Silent Princesses and warm safflina. 

“Buy a princess,” Ganondorf repeated, taking his time with each word, the same way he had with riddles like “Sheikah Slate” and “Divine Beasts.” 

“An arranged marriage,” she tried to clarify. 

“Arranged outside of the participants’ discretion.”

“Outside of the bride’s discretion,” she corrected him. “I was—am—the only heir to Hyrule’s throne. Whomever I married would rule the kingdom. The inheritor of that role was not a choice I was meant to make.” She looked up again, the frown parked opposite her seat needing no translation. “Are you telling me that royal marriages were not arranged in your time?”

“You mean, did the primitive people of the burgeoning Hyrule Kingdom place their women on the bargaining table? No, darling wife,” he said, placing his knife and fork back in their original settings.

Those r’s were going to be the death of her.

Hey, everyone! It's been a while since I last posted (almost a year now), so I do apologize for that. I recently found the @zelgan-week page and thought I'd participate in the 2026 round! First day's prompt was stargazing or forest/garden and I decided on stargazing! Each constellation is a different item or character in The Legend of Zelda: can you guess each one?

Legends are woven of history and myth, reshaped from the messy complicated nuance of Life into the orderly arcs of Lessons and Warnings and Growth. Legends are everything we wish to become of our unknown future. Legends give us bright paths through the darkness to a happy ending, to hope, to an understanding of the ineffable Patterns and they offer us the why underneath all we have survived.

Love conquers Malice. Good triumphs over Evil. The sun will rise after the longest night.

The dark sorcerer has to die for the heroes to live.

It is simply the way things are.

Summary: On the first night of the rest of his life, Ganondorf introduces Zelda to his mothers.

[My piece for Stargazing, the first day of Zelgan Week 2026 ( @zelgan-week ) A lone figure sits away from town, the only one who believes the truth of the two comets that stream across the skies together every year since…

“You’re late,” he says, loud enough that she can hear him speaking through the headphones laying on the command center. She flicks her gaze to him, then picks up the head set. She presses one finger with its fresh, nice nails on the button so she can talk. “I told you I’d be late,” she tells him, leaning towards her mic on the other end. He gives her a look. Her pretty fingers dig into the headset. “I’m not that late.” “It’s been an hour,” he says. “And I said I was going to be late.” He thinks that ‘sorry, be there soon, xoxo’ is not a particular indication of nearly an hour of tardiness. “Where were you?” “Not your business.” He continues to frown and she gives him a similar scowl back before she’s taking off the headset and setting down her things. The fluffy jacket, her bag, so on and so forth. She fishes out what she actually needs and he tries not to watch too carefully. But it’s hard not to, sometimes.

Summery: Recording sessions for Zelda's new album are under way and Ganondorf is trying to be professional about this. Even if Zelda's level of professionalism is...a rapidly swinging pendulum. (written for @zelgan-week )

Which is that @the-twilight-duchess let me indulge my fantasy that her incredible "one-shot" Feeding Your Inner Demon continued, and she let me write Chapter 2!!!!!!!

For Zelgan Week Day 2, Masks / Bound Together, I took a peek at what happened when Zelda was unable to let an opportunity to meet her King pass her by. Take a trip to the Hylton Hotel with Zelda and her mysterious client...

“You seem relaxed tonight,” he noted. “Has your rat of a roommate left your pizza well alone?”

“Not exactly, he’s not around,” she said, stretching her arm above her head to shake out the nerves. 

“Is that so?”

“Well. Actually. I’m not around,” she clarified, and she could feel the shift just in the way the subtle sound of his breathing halted. “I’m on a little holiday of my own right now.”

“A holiday. With whom?”

“No one,” she said, “except you, now, my King.”

She swore she could hear the slight squeak of a Hylton mattress as she imagined him standing, pacing over to the balcony curtains. “You did not mention a holiday on Tuesday.”

“I didn’t,” she realized aloud. “No. I suppose not. You see, it’s not really a pleasure trip. It’s the last little bit of research for my thesis.” The line was quiet. She went on. “I’ve always wanted to attend HAPSS. You know. Hyrule’s Annual Psychological Science Symposium.”

She held the phone back from her ear, making sure the line was still connected. 

It was.
