An epic-length, Premise Reversal AU of 'Twilight Princess'.
“Really?” Midna spat. "As my people waste away in the shadows of their own world, you’re defending the 'handsome, well-mannered' war criminal who forced them there? How valiant of you, Mr Important Hero!”
The light spirits have abandoned Hyrule, plunging it into an ever-lasting night. Zelda’s husband says that the light was stolen away. He says that the Twili are to blame. But Midna? She calls him a liar; she calls the missing daylight a burning apocalypse upon her realm; and she calls upon Link to betray his comrades, his prince, his queen, and his kingdom.

I'm so obsessed with the parallels between Coco & Custas
Clean Water
I don't think it's at all a coincidence that when we're introduced to Coco, it's her stepping into a freshwater spring that magically cleans itself,
whereas Custas is from the Muckpool, a slum in a major city that was created from a flaw in the city's waste-water cleaning system.
Cobblestones
Coco's love of magic began when she walked on glowstones as a child. Watching the stones light up beneath her feet made her so happy and inspired her greatly.
But after we learn that Tartah and Custas have become friends, Tartah brings up the cobblestones in Kalhn to Coco. He notes that the cobblestones are uneven and slippery, and that the cobblestone roads aren't built for sealchairs.
Cloak of Flight
Coco dreams of having a wing of flight at the beginning of the story, and then her defining moment of becoming an apprentice is her using the skills her mother taught her — skills they made their livelihood from as tailors — to create her own wings of flight to get pass the first test. It's a moment where she builds confidence in her ingenuity and her ability to be a witch.
Custas's cloak of flight was given to him as a mobility aid by his friends (Coco and Tartah) because he became disabled after trying to save his adoptive father's instrument — his livelihood as a minstrel — from a flooded river. But it swiftly goes from being a thoughtful gift in his eyes to an act of pity born from lies (especially notable when he insists to Ininia that he'd rather walk than fly to Ezrest).
Forbidden Magic
Coco's introduction to forbidden magic is by accidentally turning her mother to crystal — a completely accidental act of what could be considered violence. But because of Qifrey, her memory isn't taken away and she is given the okay to become a witch, and seek out a way to save her mother. She faces some "being othered" as a former Outsider, specifically from Agott and Olruggio, but it doesn't last all that long and she's quickly taken into the fold. The Pact is an issue at first, but Qifrey's connections cause it to be completely rug-swept to the point where no one besides Easthies really cares that Coco has become an exception to the rules.
Custas's introduction to forbidden magic is by Ininia using it to bring Dagda back to life with the counterblock spell, and then through Ininia giving him the ability to walk again — acts that masquerade as healing and salvation. But while Custas only ever draws spells to try and save people, and while Dagda begs Luluci to take Custas in as an apprentice, every adult Pointed Cap's immediate and instinctive reaction to Custas is as if he's a monster and a criminal. When it comes to Custas, everyone is too afraid to make him a new exception. The reason given is because his introduction to forbidden magic was "positive" compared to Coco's — yet in truth, by the time the negative consequences actually land, every Pointed Cap adult has taken too long to decide if they have the guts to try and save this CHILD in defiance of the pact like Qifrey did with Coco, and he loses his father and gets knocked unconscious and taken way by a Brimmed Cap.
I’m a big blog and I’ve talked about transmasc issues before so I should probably say something about how shitty the transandrophobia tag has become lately. It’s a shame that a lot of the previous blogs writing genuinely good and meaningful theory have largely stepped back due to harassment, but the fact that so much of the tag has now been replaced with blatant transmisogyny is pissing me off. We even have a “pro transmisogyny” tag now? Genuinely go fuck yourself! Fighting radfem rhetoric with more radfem rhetoric isn’t helping anyone except the fucking radfems.
Trans women are not your enemy. Trans women are not inherently more likely to be transandrophobic. Trans women do not have “male privilege” nor do they have access to male privilege pre-transition because we have already agreed that “closet privilege” does not exist, or do your arguments only apply to trans men now?
Punching sideways at your sisters will do nothing except let the actual bigots in power win. You need to log off and realise that you are taking a loud minority of tumblr blogs (run by people that you do not know) and using that as the basis for your “theory” about the dynamics between trans men and women. You are doing exactly what you accuse TRFs of doing.
Trans men’s issues are not in opposition to trans women’s issues. You can talk about one without downplaying the other. Our oppressors are cis people, not other trans people. Stay vigilant on transmisogyny in your circles, do not let yourself be taken in by bullshit “AFAB solidarity” spread around by TERFs and do not share your space with them. AFAB solidarity my ass. It’s trans solidarity all the way for me, and it should be for you too.
