I'm working like crazy right now so here's a bunch of sketches I did in the evening.
Lucky catch 🎣✨
Your aura is rancid
I'd like to credit @kishi-extra as a main source for a very neat fact about Ingo and Emmet, with what I also found regarding them in the Japanese fandom.
It's interesting how both have a certain way of speaking in both English and Japanese, but differently. In English, Ingo is more eloquent and expressive, while Emmet speaks in short sentences and either begins his sentences with “I am Emmet” or end them with “Yup”. Emmet also adds “Verrry” in English.
But in Japanese, it gets interesting! The Japanese language has far more complex aspects, like use of specific pronouns or language structure depending on the situation. And it gets to apply to the twins.
Ingo use 'watakushi', a verrrry polite form of speaking of the already neutral 'watashi'. In most of his dialogues, Ingo speaks in keigo, a type of speech system to refer to respect, humility and politeness, which fits with how Ingo seems to refer to the player as 'anata-sama'; 'anata' is normally very rude in Japan but it is corrected by adding the 'sama' honorific. In other words, Ingo ensure to treat the passengers as important guests, hence why he's so polite. He also seems to adds 'machi' in the end of his sentences sometimes, but it doesn't seem to have any specific meaning.
Emmet do not do that. He doesn't speak in keigo and speaks more casually to the player. He use 'boku', a more boyish version of 'I' and 'kimi', a more impolite version of 'you' for the player. He also has more childish quirks? Emmet sometimes use 'anone', which can be ready as 'you know', so it's kinda cute how he seems to repeat the word in a childish manner. He also tends to say 'sugoku' (very or really) as 'suuuugoku', which empathize another childish trait.
Of course, both twins do use train terminologies in both language, but it's funny how the Japanese language adds more to their personalities and relationship with the player.

Without fail, every time a woman is talking about how she does not want to have children and never wants to be pregnant and how medical professionals, romantic interests and family members keep trying to bulldoze her decision and keep expecting her to change her mind because motherhood is something that is expected of all women and it is abhorrent to think a woman could not desire it, a random mother spawns in the comments to be like “Well, actually, you never know! I didn’t want children and then I got pregnant and I realized I love being a mama and I have five little babies now! Could happen to you! 🥰”
Sister, keep that to yourself or make your own goddamn post, you are ignoring that woman’s central concern and belittling her, you don’t even think you’re doing it. Formerly childfree women who ended up having children and loving it are like detransitioners in the sense that there is nothing inherently wrong with changing your mind about having children or realizing you were mistaken about your gender identity but immediately weaponizing your indecision to tell people that the barriers to healthcare and the violations of their bodily autonomy and the way society ignores that person’s wishes is actually okay because you were wrong. Some people do know themselves.
religion is so fucking funny the world is just too beautiful there must be a higher entity behind all this. lets oppress women
In this house we love Ingo's Cain instinct and bullying Emmet XD
There's an awful trend in reading that's this CinemaSins kind of rejection of abstract concepts and suspension of disbelief, that makes people say it's bad writing when authors use descriptions that aren't immediately one to one with physical reality.
Like it's bad when a "tattoo is undulating" (as opposed to... "drawn in a wave like pattern on the skin"?), or when hair is "wet wheat from a late Summer field" (as opposed to "sort of brownish light yellow that dries lighter, but is not actual wheat stalks growing on someone's head but kind of reminiscent of the color and texture"?), or when when ice cream tastes like midnight at the fair" (as opposed to "ice cream flavour bringing back memories of undefined ice cream flavours that are individually popular but always tied to a memory of late evening at the fair ground and probably smelling vaguely like popcorn and sugar"?).
Please. We have to get back to understanding abstract descriptions that evoke feelings and memories and mental images or things we haven't experienced yet. This hyper utilitarian way of reading and judging text is killing fiction. it's robbing you of experiencing things you haven't actually personally experienced.
i like when a piece of media says that an all-powerful character "sees humans as insects" because that really could mean a lot of things. maybe they view us as insignifigant and will squish us under their boot. maybe theyre actually studying and cataloguing us for their thesis paper. maybe theyre campaigning for human protection because we're an important part of their ecosystem. maybe they see a human and go "ew ew ewwwwww someone get the cup and get that FREAK out of my house." .

it bothers me when someone brings up misogyny in shounen anime and people shrug it off with "its designed for teenage boys, what can you expect." like well. idk i think its actually pretty important that shows for teenage boys are normal about women. i mean i think all media should be normal about women but teenagers are impressionable i think we could put a little bit of feminism in the teenage boy shows. it might do some good. you never know.
The number of times I have been delighted by witty banter only to find out later that I was “Flirting” is both unfortunate and disappointing.
“haha so what about that guy, huh?”
Me: what about him
“Well you seemed super into him”
Me: what why
“…dude you were flirting all night”
Me:
Me: Whoms't™™
I found out several of my female coworkers were planning on trying to get our male coworker to ask me out because “You guys kept flirting” but I was like “We were literally just goofing around. Like we literally just told jokes to each other. Literally just stuff that friends do, the same stuff you and I do.” I was definitely 100% NOT flirting but everyone thought I was
“You were laughing at everything TJ did!”
“He paper clipped a banana to the ceiling, Isabelle. That’s fucking bonkers”
This might be a good time for Ms. Psych degree here to step in and let ye all know that People Are Unable To Identify Flirting. There are double-blind studies to support this, if you instruct participants to flirt or not flirt with another participant, neither the second participant nor onlookers are able to accurately tell which instruction the first participant was given. Even if you get the flirting participant to rate their attraction to the person they’re flirting with, and only count trials where people are either flirting with people they find attractive, or not flirting with people they don’t find attractive NO ONE CAN TELL WHO IS FLIRTING OR WHO ISN’T.
I’ve heard that people actually have a *less than 50% chance* of guess whether someone is flirting or not.
Thank fuck this isn’t just me failing at humanity
SagePub has one such study here, dated 2014. There might be more recent work, however.
i turned on the light in the dining room but Tubby had been sleeping in a chair and it woke her up and she was Not Pleased
yes
however we recently got her a new ceramic fountain that better suits her aesthetic
and her own fainting couch
but she still prefers a good lap whenever possible
@unpretty what is Ms. Tubby’s full name if it is not Tubby?
Tubbitha
reblog for Tubbitha
a princess.
It’s so fucking weird to see Tubby on my dash from just like a random unrelated blog I follow. That’s just my best friends’ cat. I commissioned a plate painted with her likeness.
Just thinking about the absurd amount of times Blue Oak has had to listen to people talk about how his "destiny" is to be a Pokémon Professor just like his grandfather.
It gets worse when he loses in the league in record time. The phrase "when you grow up, you will be a great researcher like your grandfather" evolved into: "This shows that you are no good as a Trainer. You should start studying to be a researcher and forget about this."
The idea that OG Pokémon Leagues are effectively the governments of their region is far funnier when you remember that all of the Kanto gym leaders are in their like, early twenties to their seventies in the case of Blaine or Agatha, EXCEPT Misty and Blue who are like 15 and probably keep getting given juice boxes while Surge and Lorelei talk about dealing with the new Unovan trade tarrifs
