I do wish more people appreciated Lae'zel. Look, she is not Nice, but she can be very Kind. She is patient, and loyal, and terrified. She has been taught to be violent and does not understand Faerun's culture, but she is not malicious. She takes all new knowledge and internalizes it because she is willing to overcome her pride when necessary. She is prideful, but not to the point where she is unreasonable. She listens to others when they have things to contribute, and she's willing to share her own expertise to help the others become better. She is literally 22. She is the Youngest of the entire group. She's just trying so hard to appear confident and competent among all these people so much older than her, all while handling the most stressful situation she could have ever imagined. (Even Karlach is in her mid-to-late twenties at the least.)

Yessssss! I freaking love Lae'zel so much. Like a lot of the things people complain about concerning her are mostly due to her upbringing and to her being from a completely different plane/culture. She's brutally blunt/honest, so you always know exactly what she thinks and where she stands. She's actually pretty selfless too. From the get go when she wants to find a creche to get cured, she offers the help and protection of her and her people to Tav and by association the others. If Astarion tries to bite her before it's known he's a spawn she does not condemn him for what he is, just for his action. Then she says she will continue to be his ally, but only if he keeps his fangs away from both her AND the others. She looks out for the group. Despite how most no one tries to understand her, she tries so hard to learn from and adapt to the Farûnian culture. All while experiencing major culture shock, home sickness, and racism. I love her so much. She deserves so much more respect than she gets

... see here's the thing. I um. I didn't actually realize Lae'zel was being rude. Until people started talking about her being rude.

And like I think it comes down to the fact that I never felt like she was being disrespectful to me? Like when she didn't approve of something, she was mean about it sure, but she was also very clear about why she didn't approve and it was always very understandable even if I didn't agree.
