I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:

IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.

1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.

2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.

3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”

4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”

5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.

TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.

lets say an author (whom we will call Author) writes a book, people read this book and decide they want to make art and fanfiction of Protagonist

Author doesn't like people making a certain kind of art of Protagonist though, and they can ask for people not to show that art to them or ask them questions about that kind of content about Protagonist, but ultimately Protagonist is not a real person and is incapable of having feelings of the matter and Author has no say on what the readers of their book choose to do with those characters or attempt to police what strangers create, the only thing they can do is curate what they see

now an Actor does a similar thing, but they make the creative choice to act slightly more flirty around a certain character in the filming of a movie, people who watch this movie pick up on this, and start shipping those two characters, Actor tries to ban this, says nobody can interpret the text in that way because the character they're playing shares their likeness. if Actor should find a new career, not attempt to control strangers who admire their work and PAY THEIR BILLS

streamers are not the exception, when you create a work of fiction you do not have control over how people interpret it, nor do you have control with what people create with those characters and it is the streamer's responsibility to keep themself safe on the internet and not put their fanbase in danger via stating blanket rules that can ONLY be enforced through harassment. if they can't cater their own internet experience and fictional fanworks have that much effect on their psyche they need to get a different job, because clearly being a public figure is not for them

But again, I do think AUs with Cam are spectacular and he should totally be added! But not as “Scared Demon Vampire Hunter” but as his own character with his own personality.
