yesterday someone asked me if i can create an account for a phd student who will only start here later, but needs the account because he will not have an email address otherwise. so im like sure, we can kick off the registration process, and it goes through pretty fast so i can create the account today. THIS MORNING i come in to an email saying that he tried to do our safety training but is not able to get the certificate. like CALM DOWN YOU DO NOT NEED THESE YET!!

friends this friends that but im just so unwilling to try when im always the one who walks behind the others, is assigned the worst sleeping spot, the one who is not invited when there are more people than can come.

"the addresses for the constant properties are supposed to be set in the config" yeah i know. but im not the idiot who hardcoded them in and theres some weird issue that makes it so i cant fix it.

had some weird issues trying to install an older laptop where it would find the install image just fine but then throw a network error when i try to authorize the install with my admin account. so im like, ugh, seen this before, usb-c port is broken. it was also not doing the mac address pass through at pxe despite it being activated. decided to do some more testing, booted an ubuntu from a usb drive, and.. the connection was working fine AND it was using the internal mac address. so i started suspecting: what if the issue is that its not using the internal address at boot but then switches to it later on? this would mean it can connect to the server using the usb adapter address at first and get the image, but once some sort of os has loaded, it tries to use the internal address which is not registered. i turned off the address pass through, entered the address of the usb adapter into the network tool, and behold: it works!!

was considering doing an art challenge this month but tbh 1) im way too stressed about finished my sewing work in time 2) i think thats too much stress for my very delicate "maybe not everything i make is worthless disgusting trash forever" balance.
