Does anyone else have a birthday in late December/early January? Ya, I had one last week and well.... they kinda suck.
But this year I had someone do something wonderful for me. This year my favourite fanfic writer, @psitriforce, gifted me a fic. And not only is it the cutest fic to have ever been written, but he based it off one of my favourite movies of all time: Clueless.
I'm still smiling!
Go read it and you too will be grinning from ear to ear!

I wrote a Teen Titans fanfiction! Beast Boy writes Raven a poem, but she is in no mood to read it. It's short and sweet and very BBRae and hopefully cute, and with something at the end to make you think "⦠Oh. Oh. ⦠I bet you're feeling really proud of yourself right now, aren't you? You smug little-"
Hey, do you remember Renaissance of Raven, that DC Universe Infinite webtoon/webcomic where Raven is sent back in time to save the kingdom o
To celebrate Renaissance of Raven winning a prestigious industry 'Ringo Award' - named after the guy from the Rolling Stones I guess - then throwback to my review of the ups and downs and downs and downs and downs and downs and downs of DC's webcomic that dared to ask "what if Raven but totally unlikeable?"
When I first started participating in fandom, I told myself that I would only say positive things and try and use my voice to spread joy and happiness in my little space of fandom world.
But I just found out that the Renaissance of Raven won an award for Best Webcomic of 2025 and itās proving really hard for me to stick to my original promise.
Luckily, someone much more talented than me happened to write all my words and feelings about it in his blog. I highly recommend you take a look at it!!
Thanks for saying all we want to say about RoR, @psitriforce !!
I really never want to be on the wrong side of you!!

I refuse to listen to Mambo No. 5 until Lou Bega releases Mambo No. 1 through 4, allowing me to understood the full backstory of Monica, Erica, Rita, Tina, Sandra, Mary and Jessica.
Those fanfic authors that you love and wish you could write like. Those writers who inspire you, whose work you absolutely adore and keep going back to again and again.
I have two:
KatScythe and PSI_Triforce
If you havenāt read The *New* Teen Titans yet then I donāt know what to tell you but drop EVERYTHING right now! Katās writing is so damn amazing you can tell she agonizes about every single word. Its perfection shines through!
PSI_Triforce is the BBRae one-shot master. His humour and warmth tugs at the heartstrings and when Iām feeling low, I only need to read a few lines and I already feel better - heās that good!
I can also say, with confidence, that these two writers are some of the nicest people I have ever come across!
Read these authors work and you too will develop a writerās crush!

Beast Boy holds out a plate of steaming pancakes in front of Raven's face.
Raven: Why are you putting pancakes in my face?
She shoves the plate away as she asks.
BB: Duh, Raven. It's about Day 1 of this year's week about us! It's Hot Cakes this year! To celebrate and prepare, I made you some! I don't know how anyone is going to able to make anything about pancakes though. Like, the artists could draw us eating pancakes together, but what can the writers make?
Raven: sighs heavily Beast Boy, Day 1 isn't about "hot cakes", it's about "hot takes". As in, opinions people have about people or things that aren't common or seen often.
BB: .... oh....
BB: .... Does this mean you don't like my cooking?
Just over one month away guys!! So excited to see what people come up with! Don't forget, we have a deviantart page and an ao3 collection page that's already getting submissions! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
BB: Cause if you don't like my pancakes, that's totally backwards! Remember your pancakes? Those were gross! Only Starfire could stomach them!
Raven: Will you feel better if I eat the pancakes?
Sometimes, when Iām bored at work (it happens to the best of us) I look around at some of the book titles around me *spot the librarian* and play a little game with some of the words I see. Iāll find a word than challenge myself to use that word somewhere in my chapter/one-shot, whatever it is Iām working on. Iād thought Iād share that word today and challenge all the fanfic writers out there to also use the word.
Todays word is: Lullaby
Inspired by the book: Lullabies for Little Criminals by Heather OāNeil. I have never read the book, I know nothing about it but someone spilled coffee on (dear god I hope itās coffee) it so it has come to me to look at. Lucky me.
Whoās up for the challenge?!
*note: Iām posting this on a lunch break and only write on lunch breaks, obviously. Donāt write fanfic at work people- HR will come knocking!!

The lovely, talented and rather annoying @katscythe tagged me in the WIP game with the word...
šŗ F A N G šŗ
Rules: You are given a word, and you post a paragraph/snippet from your WIP(s) starting with each letter of the word.
And cos I love her so much (and am scared of her wrath should I not participate), here we go:
F:
Finding them was effortless, having spent so long in their light.
Intertwining their positive emotions with her own nugget of happiness, which she kept tucked tightly away, Raven allowed it to gather like a ball of pure energy, pulsing within her.
A:
A wholly unoriginal headline for what had been a wholly unoriginal attempt at escaping prison.Ā
Yesterdayās battle was almost routine, with Fridays seeming to be the day villains tried to escape ā- as if the looming weekend encouraged mischief.
N:
Nightmares often plagued Ravenās dreams. Fire and brimstone, winged demons, the dead and the dying were key players that she fought with on a nightly basis, and Raven was well used to waking in silent screams. But this dream held none of her usual fears. The tears that fell down her face were not those of fright. This was a single, strong emotion that overwhelmed her senses and left her reeling.Ā
G:
Well... this is an easy one. Its the name of this fic:
Geronimo
I'm only 3 chapters in (its totally normal to write the epilogue first, right?) but maybe one day I'll get around to finishing it and posting! These are from my first chapter which is still under construction so these are likely to change a little!
This was fun!
Here we go- I'm going to tag @mykeworthy (didn't I say I was going to bug ya?!) to keep it up!
Summary: Seasons change, and so do feelings for your teammate...
Garfield is Summer.
Well, that is, if Raven were forced to assign him a season.
Heās Summer. August green, like the trees in their prime. Stupid, like the last day of school before a three-month break when no one acts like theyāve got any sense left at all. He's a kid out of class, running rampant in an arcade and pushing all of her buttons.Ā
Yes, Garfield Logan lives every day as if heās on summer vacation.Ā
While he may stroll through life leisurely, heās not exactly relaxed. Like the pier all aglow on the Fourth of July, Gar sparks the sky with blinding outbursts. Earsplitting explosions ring into the atmosphere in a vibrant display for anyone willing to watch. As glimmering sparkles flitter to the ground, Raven can only roll her eyes.
Heās pulling out all his tricks now, flaunting a finale unlike any other. Cocky rockets soar through the air, screaming out in a desperate plea for attention. Thereās a smugness to that sparkle, a pompous popping grin.
Painfully, Raven realizes that Gar fully believes this endeavor looks effortless. In reality, the sore state of his swagger lies under the light show. Like the bustling boardwalk teeming with people, his focus scatters in a million directions. Clumsy and awkward, he stumbles on air. Ineloquent, he trips over his own words. Heās chaos embodiedāa sweating swarm of energy.
Ravenās less than impressed with his knack for disorder. If she is Azarath, structured and sound, then he must be the ever-shifting California coast. Change is coded into his DNA, after all.
At the oceanās edge, his messy waves crash against her solid shore. Restless water surges forward, determined to knock her off balance. Sheās not stupid. She knows the tide only wants a rise. But the sand is unstable, and so is her temper. Try as she might resist the current, Raven falls for his taunting every time. When she struggles to stand, the smirking sea ebbs, leaving her splashing and sputtering with rage.
Raven is certain she has never encountered anyone so audacious in her entire life. Always the antagonist, setting out to humiliate her at every opportunity. He ignites her anger in a way no one ever has, and despite that red fury, heās somehow unphased.
The thing is, unlike any normal person, Garfield isnāt afraid of her. Well, if he is, it seems his curiosity burns hotter than his fear.Ā
Raven catches how he eyes her when he thinks no oneās watchingāstare burning like heās searching for something beneath her surface. Garās the scrutinizing sun bearing down on her, eager to expose every hiding spot.Ā
She pulls her cloak tighter under that too-bright gaze. Hates how revealing it feels. He couldnāt possibly understand what lurks in her shadows. Couldnāt begin to learn how deep those waters dive.Ā
Couldnāt.Ā Shouldnātā¦Ā
And yet, would try.
For what purpose? Ravenās unsure.
She would call him inconsiderate... if that were true...
But Garfield is not a cruel summer. Indeed, far from it. In stolen moments, heās sweet. Like fresh honeydew on her tongue. Like sunshine eyes and lopsided smiles.
And sometimes heās gentle. Breezing by mid-battle to extend a soft hand. Itās strangeābeing lifted by that whisper of wind as if she were nothing more than a feather.Ā
On some dawns, his eyes bear that intimate ache. A misting of dew. Of mourning grass and summertime sadness.
It comes as a quiet realization that heās both the boisterous lightning and the sighing summer rain.
Illuminating and infuriating. Kindling yet kind.
Confusion isnāt the word to describe this feeling...Ā
Itās gone in a flash. In a shuffling of eyes and misplaced trust. All at once, the sky goes dim, and his glow is eclipsed by a new, golden moon.
Suddenly sunlight is snatched up, hidden away behind solid stone. Now, Garfield shines for someone else. Overshadowed, Raven sinks into the darkling silence she thought she wanted.Ā
Now sunburn sounds better than this hollow reflection of moonlight.
Thereās no time to dwell upon darkness. The moon is already moving along. Warm light is creeping back again to color her world.
But then, without warning, heāsā¦Ā intense.
His transformation comes quickly. A metamorphosis of body and soul. Fireworks explode, and Garfield is no longer a sky-bound sparkler but some blazing, burning thing. Heās become a force of natureāa beastly power, roaring with all the talons and teeth of a wildfire.Ā
Snarling flames spread, clawing viciously across their ravaged city. Carnage is carved out in ember and ash andĀ fuck. Sheās surrounded.
Cinders circle in. Feral fire billows out to scorch the earth around her. Soot-soaked and coughing, Raven prepares to be burned alive.
As his inferno collapses, the blaze stops short. Like a flaming shield, he twists around, hedging her behind a protective wall of fire.Ā
Somehow, in the middle of this hellish haven, Raven knows she is undeniablyĀ safe.
Her gaze droops. Heartbeats stutter to a slow, sleepy pace. As she falls unconscious, one thought lingersāan idea so stupid she would neverĀ dareĀ to conjure it if she were fully awake. Itās fleeting, almost fading, but itās there nonetheless: something about the flames makes her think that maybe he could withstand hellfire and brimstone.
Amid the smoldering aftermath, Raven douses more of theseĀ disturbingĀ revelations.
Itās becoming a rising problem, her wandering mind. Garfield has sprouted up recently, not quite the sapling he was in those early days. Heās grown like a tree, sturdy and strong. Still lean in stature but firm where it counts. Their work has weathered him down to his roots, deepening even his voice. When he speaks, the sound is roughācoarse like calloused bark.
And she really doesnāt mean to notice.
Itās not helping that heās become unfairly pretty. Raven wouldnāt liken him to hanging gardens or fields of flora. No, Garfieldās charm is the uncurated kind. Heās pretty like verdant eyes and undergrowth. Like tousled hair and tangled vines. Crawling kudzu trails along the forest floor, slowly swallowing all of her thoughts.Ā
So heās attractive. Big deal.
For some reason, it comforts Raven to note that even in his blossoming, Garfield is still as annoying as ever. Now, his peskiness just takes on a different form.
These days, heās as irritating as the heatāa stifling, smothering heat wave.Ā
And as heat does, he just burns. her. up.
Like that excruciating June when it had taken Cyborg an entire week to fix the faulty AC unit, Garfield is a summer-scorched night.
Feverish, Raven tosses and turns, seared to her very core. Sheās suffocating, pinned beneath a burning blanket. When throwing off the covers brings no respite, she wrestles her cloak to the floor too.Ā
No relief.
Staring at the ceiling, she wills sleep to take her, but it wonāt come. This heat is all-consuming. Sheās flushed. Sweating. Breathless. Unable to think of anything else because heās justĀ soĀ damnĀ hot...
...
...and of course, she prefers the cooler months.Ā
Sheās more comfortable in the cold. The cold makes everything easier.Ā
Sleeping. Layering. Distanceā¦
The cold is easier until it isnāt.
Until sheās trapped in an Arctic circle, huddled and shivering within a wind-torn tent. Alone in her icy prison, Raven realizes what she can no longer deny:
Sheās fucking freezing.
Maybe she doesnāt like the cold as much as she suspected. Maybe she looks forward to brief glimpses of sunshine filtered through a tiny communicator screen.
