Here's a nice little throw back. 2 years ago today I started working on Elton Johns 'Rocketman' music video. . Was a really cool project to work on with lovely design, and a really touching story. I did this spiderman animation during a live workshop Dec last year. I gave the students a choice of what to animate, naturally they chose spiderman 🕸 . I spent about 5 hours animating in front of the students while they asked questions about the industry and my process, whilst my cintiq was projected onto a screen behind me. As you can imagine it was pretty terrifying. What I animated felt a bit stiff so I reworked it a little on the train home. . Here's the finished piece. Also added a little colour for clarity. Whilst away in Paris I attempted my very first ipad/procreate still life drawing... . I recently finished a pretty cool project unlike any I've done before. I was part of a small team that made a short film celebrating Chinese New year, to be displayed in the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. . It was a super tight turnaround so I knew it wasn't exactly going to be the best work I've ever done , but when else are you going to have your animation displayed at over 700 metres tall!? . Here's a couple of my roughs and what they looked like cleaned and coloured, before being displayed for all of Dubai to see. I need to say a huge thank you to everyone that's followed me this year. . Looking back it's been a big year for me, worked for international studios, worked in a lot of studio's I've never worked before, made new friends within the industry, but more importantly seen a huge progression in my quality of work. I've managed to get round to doing a few personal bits which hopefully show development, but even if not, I have more confidence in my work.
