It isn't even an induction.
An induction begins when you're asked to focus on your breathing.
I'm not asking you to focus on your slow, steady breathing.
I'm not asking you to take a deep breath of fresh air, hold it, and then exhale everything negative until you feel so much better.
I'm not doing that, because this isn't an induction.
You don't have to be comfortably settled wherever you're reading this. I'm not asking you to stop paying attention to your surroundings because everything that matters is here.
Because this isn't an induction.
You don't have to feel drowsy. You don't have to feel mentally tired as you read this, despite the long day you've had.
You don't have to switch off your mind and simply follow the words flowing across the page.
I haven't asked you to do that, because this isn't an induction.
You don't have to start counting backward as you read, while everything gradually becomes blurry, both in your mind and on the page.
No, that's not what I'm saying, because this isn't an induction.
You don't have to reach the number one and find yourself wanting to keep enjoying the words you're reading here. No... you definitely don't have to do that.
You don't have to stay especially attentive to whatever comes next. Of course not.
Because this isn't an induction. If it were, you'd probably be paying closer attention than usual, waiting for instructions about what to do next.
No, that's not what this is about. Because if it were, all you'd do is say you're ready, and that's definitely not what you'll be posting in the comments on this entry.
As you can see, this isn't what you thought it was, or what you expected it to be. No, this isn't an induction.
An induction is precise, deliberate, and purposeful.
So, since this isn't what you thought it might be, these are simply a few vague thoughts on a Wednesday before dawn.
Let yourself go... though you don't need to.
After all, you couldn't possibly be hypnotized by a piece of writing that is anything but an induction.
