The way all the 2020s have done so far have been making me categorically against every new generation of tech that comes out is insane. Like I'm from a technological boom generation, saw the first portable phones, nokias & blackberries & flipphones etc, and the first smartphones, and the first ipods & ipads & tablets in general while still having cassettes & DVD & MP3 players around so I know how all of it work, I had computer classes in high school, I did the transition between home desktop computers to laptops and back to gaming computers. But then they started to put internet in your printer & microwave, everything has ads & AI now and every update is worst than the last. I literally loved technology and they ruined it

i think you should be allowed to identify as trans without retroactively saying you were also trans in the past. i think the "born this way" rhetoric is limiting and you should be able say stuff like "i was fully a girl when i was a kid and now im a boy" without it invalidating your current identity but maybe that's just me

Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.

Also my dad read it to me when I was seven. I read it on my own when I was about 10.

#gonna try to articulate this right #i think that to some people #“children's” media stops at sesame street age #like literally before the kid is going to school #or very early education #where they're still learning the fundamentals #so they hear 'this is a children's book' about something with a high page count #and equate that with what a five year old should be expected to handle solo #and no!#that's not the same thing #children's books can be long and tell complex stories #while still being accessible to a young audience #bruce coville is a good example of this i remember from my childhood #he wrote fantasy and mysteries #designed for readers around ages 8-11 or so #shorter and less verbose than tolkien #but still something meant for children to be able to read alone #also not to go all old man yells at cloud #but back when i was in school it was sort of expected that you would read books as a class #so that the teacher could teach you how to read and interpret text #and where the resources were for words you didn't know #but also how to parse meaning from words by the surrounding words #and idk i that really... happens in the classroom anymore #(to be clear i don't know this because i don't have any insights into early education from any perspective)#(feel free to tell me i'm wrong about that)
