I need to renew my driving licence.
I've got married and changed my name a few months ago, I'm still updating these documents.
Luckily, my existing licence and my tax docs are all in my new name. I need to do my passport still, but I'm holding off bc I'm in the process of buying a house and need my ID.
Apparently, even though the DVLA can confirm I exist and that my current licence is valid, my government cannot match me to "their systems", so it won't let me get a new licence.
But your tax infos correct, I hear you say. Yes, but apparently the UK government have decided to prove I'm real that they need to validate my info against Experian. You know, the credit people. Bc that's clearly more valid that my national insurance contributions and tax.
What kind of capitalist fucking bullshit system is this?
Of course Experian won't have me on record BECAUSE I'M IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING MY LEGAL GOVERNMENT NAME.
